Any new news on the club ??
Yup, you beat the Scum today in the FA Cup. :) Cheers for that. :)
might as well keep this here as they'll all start coming out of the closest like the new Scouse and Chelski following
As a Saints fan, though I'm glad you lost (and we went through... what was that? undeservedly? shh...) I have to say congratulations for your second half performance in the FA cup 4th round against Liverpool - you certainly deserved that goal. Over-all, I'd still say Liverpool were the better side, but you put them under the cosh for sure, and your second half deserved a replay. Although that said, your first deserved nothing at all. But anyway, good to see some backbone (although please don't show it in the premiership.. come and join us, you skates..!)
Argentine star Andres D'Alessandro looks to be on his way to England and skysports.com understand that Portsmouth are hoping to seal his signature.
Pompey have already landed eight new faces during the transfer window, but the signing of D'Alessandro would be a huge coup for the South Coast outfit.
Israeli-based businessman Alexandre Gaydamak bought half of the club earlier this month with the promise of substantial funds being made available to manager Harry Redknapp.
Now German sources have insisted that Wolfsburg star D'Alessandro has been persuaded to join the Fratton Park revolution.
On Monday Pompey announced the captures of Wayne Routledge and Ognjen Koroman, which were signings seven and eight following the earlier arrivals of Benjani, Emmanuel Olisadebe, Dean Kiely, Sean Davis, Noe Pamarot and Pedro Mendes.
Now Redknapp is trying to add D'Alessandro, some five years after originally spotting his talents in Argentina.
While with West Ham in 2001, Redknapp took D'Alessandro on trial but he failed to broker a deal to land him - but he now appears close to sealing a deal.
D'Alessandro had been locked in talks with former club River Plate, but Pompey look to have persuaded him that a move to England would be the best option for him.
Good deal i reckon of he ends up going to pompey

With all the new players they've just bought, especially D'Alessandro and Routlege, I just can't see this team going down.

Boo I hope the Pompey get relegated just so we can have a kind of derby. Excretia are not even a football league team and Torquay seem to be heading that way aswell, both the Brizzles wont be seen for a while and Yeovil are retarded so Portsmouth are our next rivals so like from the 70s let the battle of the Dockyards commence.

Had the feeling Pompy would survive, well done. Harry Redknapp can now rest easy. Greenegg, you'll have to hope Plymouth get promoted to the Premiership, if you want to see the battle of the dockyards. It can be done, they got this far...

Mate the Pompey fans have just as much a rep for thuggery as Birmingham do. There are always small minorities who enjoy violence with rivals firms. Not all blues fans are thugs, you know that.
Throughout the 80's and 90's the 657 crew of Portsmouth caused as much destruction and violence as any football firm in Britain. Thats not hearsay but fact, ask most police officers who ever served at a pompey away game

Go fuck yourself you son of a smeg infested gash.
You know fuck all about Birmingham City; just like I probably know fuck all about the shit foreign club you support. You so vehemently condemn the english game, teams and supporters so you must be some foreign supporting fag.
Pompey have been very lucky with the way things have played out for them. Cash injection in Janruary, numerous 'weakened' teams put out against them....
I am gutted to be relegated; I nearly cried when someone told me the news at work, and the four hours after that and now were painful to say the least. This rant is part of that, and also the fact that I see so many people accusing and basically spouting extreme amounts of shit about my club and our fans.

That does not however mean I regret anything I said, or retract any scathing remarks. Everything said towards you stands, and in conclusion you are a fucking waste of space who thinks of himself as better than others just because of a fucking huge number of posts and the fact he is a vet.

The veteran status and huge number of posts have fuck all to do with anything. The fact you believe they mean something when we're on the internet and I don't think they mean anything simply means that in my position, they would mean something to you. Jonno, the problem with your vocabularly stems not so much from it's incorrect usage but from its repetition. Any decent point you make is all but invalidated by your habbit of insulting people. Probably sucking off Redknapp no doubt for his place in his team.
Wtaching redknapp talking at the moment and i truely believe he is the long lost cousin of the elephant man
I reckon Forsell we have many a sleepless night after his miss. I reckon blues would have won if they would have one good striker who can finish

He's not there for the defensive side of it. A Cristiano Ronaldo if you will. You can scream at him as much as you like to get back, but he won't.
I'm just curious as to what sorts of clubs are looking at D'Alessandro and thinking "right then, if Wolfsburg don't want you and you've impressed so much in England, perhaps we need to move in with an offer". Tottenham, for example.
Would make sense for a mid-table team to go for him. Then again, with all the money Pompski have, the could be a mid-table team next season!

This thread needs to be brought back. Today there are reports coming out that Lua Lua is unhappy and is considering a move, to that i say: go on then. I admit that he was our top scorer last season but that was because Perrin shipped of the Yak and the "talent" he brought it was more suited to the scum than us. Also we are reported to have had a 4.5 million bid for Barry turned down by Villa. If we can get him i think this would be a cracking signing for the club.

And although i can't find any decent press shots or in-game shots of the new keeper kit having seen one of the very top it was Black with grey triming and could look good.
Signings
Reports came through last night that we had got Kanu on a one year deal. I'd like to be the first to say WHAT THE FUCK? Although i admit he was a good goalscorer at Arsenal he, well, wasn't at West Brom. Although with a kick up the arse he might work well in the right formation.
We are also, supposedly, 99% completed on a deal for Udinese's Sulley Muntari. I think although untested in the Premiership as long has he adapts to his surroundings quickly he could and should do well.
And yes lads i will keep posting in here whether or not i get a conversation

Yo, Pompey fans.
I have a question, something that's been bouncing around in my head as I watch Charlton v. Tottenham right now and the fans are singing something that I can't understand.
You see Portsmouth games are shown here almost every weekend so I hear this one chant over and over, but I can't make out the words, and it always pops into my head when I hear other teams' fans chant something I can't understand. I'll try and explain it as best as possible.
It goes...
Some-thing Pom-pey (short pause) Some-thing Some-thing
And it starts out at a certain pitch, then goes down when they say Pom-pey, and then it goes back up when they say the second Some-thing. And it's repeated like 2 or 3 times before they stop.
So just wondering what they're actually saying. It's very catchy.

Now here's good news for you guys.
Portsmouth have agreed a deal to sign Udinese midfielder Sulley Muntari, according to the Ghana international's agent.
Muntari, 22, has long been linked with a move to the Premiership after impressing for the Black Stars during last summer's World Cup finals in Germany.
And the powerful central midfielder has reportedly agreed terms with Pompey over a summer switch to Fratton Park.
"Udinese have already finished negotiating with the English club Portsmouth and with my help he will go to them," claimed agent Stefano Antonelli.
"The only thing remaining is the conclusion of some personal details between the player and Portsmouth.
"We will meet soon and there should be no problems."
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp watched Muntari score in Ghana's 4-1 friendly victory over Nigeria in London in February.
The versatile midfielder has scored eight times in 26 international appearances.

Some more good news on Muntari
Muntari keen on Portsmouth switch
The club also have a great manager in Harry Redknapp, who has been following me since last year
Sulley Muntari
Ghana and Udinese midfielder Sulley Muntari has revealed he expects to join Portsmouth this summer.
Fratton Park boss Harry Redknapp tried to buy the 22-year-old last summer, but was put off by the £11m asking price.
But Muntari told the Portsmouth News: "I'm just waiting for the day to join Portsmouth. I want to play here."
Redknapp, meanwhile, has said he wants to sign Arnold Mvuemba on a permanent basis after the midfielder's loan spell at the club from Rennes came to an end.
The French 22-year-old, who is rated at around £3m, played in seven matches after joining on loan in January.
And Redknapp said: "The boy has shown great potential and could have a future here, but it would have to be for the right money."
Muntari's fee would most likely be nearer £7m, but the Ghanaian is confident a deal will be done.
He says he has agreed personal terms and claims he has been "supporting" Pompey for a year since Redknapp first tried to sign him from Italian Serie A club Udinese.
Muntari has already played at Fratton Park - in Sunday's charity game organised by striker Nwankwo Kanu.
It is a fantastic club with class players like Pedro Mendes, Sol Campbell, David James and Kanu
Sulley Muntari
And he said: "To step on this ground, it is like I've started in the Premiership already. It is a fantastic club with class players like Pedro Mendes, Sol Campbell, David James and Kanu.
"The club also have a great manager in Harry Redknapp, who has been following me since last year.
"I spoke to him before the game. We shook hands and told me to enjoy it. He is not just a good manager but a good man. I saw the way he spoke to players in the changing room. It was fantastic.
"So were the fans. To see them turn up to cheer us on for Kanu's game in the way they did was fantastic."
He'll be a very good signing for you guys.

Having said that, and being completely anti-Bramble (Who isn't?) I would like to say that he is a half decent defender, he is just very very prone to mistakes, hopefully if Harry can iron these out, like he has done with the likes of Paramot and already to an extent with Traoré we might just get away with it. Especially if he is partnered at the back with Sol, a bit of experience couldn't go a miss.

Portsmouth Football Club today announced the signing of French defender Sylvain Distin on a three-year contract until June 2010.
The former Manchester City defender was out of contract at Eastlands and becomes Harry Redknapp's first signing of the summer.
Distin was a model of consistency throughout his five year spell in Manchester, making 206 appearances. Last season he missed only one Premier League game.
Redknapp was excited about the club's latest acquisition: "Sylvain is a player I have admired for a long time. He's a top class defender with experience who is quick, agile and good in the air.
"He will be a great signing for us and to get him on a free transfer is a great piece of business. I'm delighted he decided his future is at Portsmouth."

It appears you are not,
From the Official Site;
Portsmouth Football Club today announced their third acquisition of the summer with a new club record signing in the form of Ghanaian international Sulley Muntari for an undisclosed fee.
Muntari, 22, has signed a five-year contract until 2012 and joins from Italian side Udinese. A left-footed central midfielder, Muntari has been a regular for Ghana alongside Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah since making his debut against Slovenia in 2002. He starred for his country in the 2006 World Cup and scored in a 2-0 victory against the Czech Republic and now has 26 caps and eight goals.
At 16 Muntari was already an integral part of the Ghana under-20 team and was a prominent member of the 2001 side that finished runners up of the FIFA World Youth Championship that year. The following season he signed for Udinese and after a season in the reserves was introduced to the big stage with a debut in the San Siro against AC Milan. Since that time the midfield man has completed over 100 games for the Italian club.
Pompey manager Harry Redknapp said of Muntari: "I first saw him at the World Cup against Brazil and he was the best player on the pitch. I've watched him three times since and he has been very impressive.
"We tried to get him in the last two transfer windows but Udinese didn't want to sell so we are delighted he's finally coming to Fratton Park. He's got a great left-foot and has great energy with the ability to run all day and, he's a good passer of the ball too. Ghana have one of the best midfields in the world and he's a regular fixture in their side. He's a player with a big future."
Muntari said: "Portsmouth is a fantastic club with class players such as Pedro Mendes, Sol Campbell, David James and Kanu and a great manager in Harry Redknapp, who is also a great man. I have been a Pompey supporter ever since they first wanted me a year ago and I've watched as many games as I could. The fans are great and they really love their football. I'm really looking forward to playing in front of them and helping the club make a push for European competition."
Pompey's previous record transfer fee was the £4.4m paid to Auxerre for Benjani Mwaruwari in January 2006.
Muntari joins Sylvain Distin and Hermann Hreidarsson as the latest addition to the Fratton Park squad.

Harry Redknapp has confirmed Preston North End striker David Nugent has agreed to join Portsmouth.
Nugent has been discussing a move to Fratton Park after Sunderland pulled the plug on their bid for the England cap.
He is due to undergo a medical on Wednesday and Pompey boss Redknapp hopes to bring in further firepower before the start of the season.
"I'm delighted to have him," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "He works hard and that's something Portsmouth fans like.
"I think it shows how far we've come. We've got people like Distin, Hreidarsson, Muntari, we're full of quality players.
"We have brought some real good players in and I think with a couple of strikers, people like Nugent coming in, it will be a good season for us.
"To get him in that will be great, but I'm still looking for another one and then we will have a decent squad."
Redknapp also remains hopeful that experienced forward Kanu will accept the offer of a one-year contract to stay with Pompey.
The Portsmouth manager added: "We're hoping to talk to him at the moment.
"He did great last year and was a last-minute signing, we signed him on the Friday before the first game of the season.
"He did fantastic for us, he scored two goals in his first game and 12 in the season.
"He is a smashing footballer, a good lad as well, and I hope to sort something out to have him next year."

What happened to the Alou Diarra deal? Are you still looking to complete this deal?
That's what I was wondering, Alou Diarra.
How good is that Nugent guy, I've never seen him play.
Utaka is better :ninja:
Dead serio.
Well Nugent is good at Championship so i guess he will do well at Prem..

What? Nugent is a poacher, poachers will do well at any level. I'm fully confident both Nugent and Utaka will do us well at this level. As for Diarra I'm not sure, I'll have a look around. Harry has promised more signings before then end of the window though.

Rasiak a great example of this. Poacher, almost 20 a season in the championship. And how did he do for Spurs? Hmm.

There is an exception to every rule son. This one, of course, being he was playing for Scum in the championship.
So any info about Utaka?
never heard of him before..
Is he good?

Nope he's absolutely shite, that's why we've signed him Wanny boy.
So if he shite why does Harry rather to sign him?
Trialist Geovani made Harry impressed
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp could pursue his interest in Brazilian trialist Geovani after he impressed in the 2-0 friendly win at Yeovil.
Geovani made the first goal for Lomana LuaLua and then tapped in the second in a strong 70-minute showing at Huish Park, where Redknapp was able to give most of his squad a run-out.
The striker is looking to earn a contract at Fratton Park where he would compete for a place with LuaLua, Kanu and Benjani as well as new signings John Utaka and David Nugent.
"He's just a lad who's a free agent," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
"He's a Brazilian boy and he's got a Spanish passport - we're just having a look at him really.
"We thought we'd have him in and he's been training for a few days and he's done OK.
"He's a good little footballer, a clever footballer, he knows what he's doing and he's played at the top level."
As for the match, Redknapp was happy to give every member of his match-day squad a taste of the action.
"I was pleased," he said. "We passed it well and I used all 22 players that I've got. Everyone got a run-out and it was good.
"I think every Premier League club can do that if they wanted to, make 10 changes with the squads everyone's got. We've probably got 17 or 18 players who I consider ready to play in the Premier League."
So if he shite why does Harry rather to sign him?

Your new roof & store looks sexy.
So Muntari got sent off tonight - didn't take him long just as I predicted. Can someone tell me - did he have a huge chip on his shoulder, turn psycho and go looking for the second yellow or was it a bit more sane and controlled?

Didn't see the game but Joe Jordan said the 2nd booking was harsh.

It was a little rash, I can't say Joe is right when he said it was harsh, they were both fairly stupid challenges. Hopefully Harry will be able to sort him out though, because apart from that he's impressed me already this season.
CC, do you think Nugent will leave before the window closes?

I'm not sure, unfortunately I think someone "high-profile" may well go, but in order to sign someone of a higher profile whether that's Nugent or not I don't know.

Please sign Taylor Rafa, we need a left back ...

I know.
Who knows if he can. :smug:
Crouch for 10m?
Not worthy if he keeps elbowing the opposition when he jumps to head or do overhead kick.

Thing is though Sean, Harry already has. He turned Crouch from a wreck into one of the highest goals scorers (in that period) a few seasons back, Harry can, and will do it again if we were to get him. Kanu, Benji, Utaka and the rest will all be gone for African Nations soon, which leaves Nuge up front on his own. 'Mon the Crouch I say.

Baros wtf?! I'd rather get Defoe but he'll cost a bit.
Heard that Pompey is interested with Mateja Kezman.
I'm glad Defoe will get 1st team football he's too good to sit on the bench at any team.
I'm sure he will prove himself a top class striker once again. Like Ian Wright he has the ability to score a goal out of nothing.
Richard Hughes was on Channel 5's Football Italiano today. Spoke quite well, seemed to have a decent level of knowledge (such a shame John Barnes doesn't match up to that when doing colour commentary - no I'm not being racist :ninja:) and likes Milan so its all good.

Take good care of young Ben. This is his first loan to a Premier League side, so it's going to be a big challenge for him, especially at a rapidly improving club such as Portsmouth.

We'll have a go. I'm assuming we won't use him as an out and out striker, more the role Utaka has done, and will do this season.

I'd sooner have Sulley any day.

5.5m profit on a player that won't fit in as well in a 4-4-2? Lovely stuff.
I'll be sad to see him go, he was quality last year. As I said, the only thing we will play now will be 4-4-2, and he was too wider a player to fit in the centre, and not quite wide enough to play on the wings.
