Not sure if I've seen any Fulham fans on here, but as they're one of the more entertaining teams to watch, I thought I'd give them their own official thread.

Hopefully tonights match vs West Ham (another good team) will be a good one.

Malbranque Rejects Offer

Sat 13th May 2006

Midfielder rejects most significant financial package in FFC's history

Fulham Football Club began its negotiations to renew the contract of Steed Malbranque in the summer of 2005.

After protracted discussions an offer was made to the player and his agents at the beginning of May which amounted to the most significant financial package in the Club's history.

Unfortunately Steed Malbranque has not accepted this offer and has in fact indicated that no offer would be acceptable at this stage as he would like to leave Fulham next summer on a free transfer.

This is obviously a situation that has clear financial implications and would be unacceptable to the Club, especially as its position is to aim for a top ten finish in the forthcoming season.

Therefore the Manager, with the support of the Chairman and the Board, is actively seeking a replacement for Steed Malbranque for the 2006/2007 season and the Club will listen to offers from all clubs for Steed's immediate transfer.

Bringing back this thread after tonights brilliant result......

Gunners Stunned By Fulham Force

Arsene Wenger may now have to face his own "moment of truth" with this loss all but ending Arsenal's hopes of forcing their way into the title race.

The Gunners boss had admitted his team were entering a crucial phase of the campaign, both domestically and in Europe.

With little margin for error following the weekend loss at Bolton, this reverse at Craven Cottage looks set to prove fatal.

The decision to rest several first-team regulars - with one eye on both Saturday's north-London derby against Tottenham and next week's Champions League trip to Porto - proved unwise as Fulham rose to the challenge.

An early goal from Brian McBride set the tone for the evening, before Tomas Radzinski swept in a second from close range.

Although Robin van Persie reduced the deficit before half-time with a brilliant 30-yard free-kick, even the introduction of Theo Walcott could not save Arsenal - who finished the game with 10 men following Philippe Senderos' dismissal for a second yellow card.

Fulham had taken the lead inside six minutes.

From Claus Jensen's left-wing corner, McBride got ahead of his markers to meet the ball at the near post, flick it backwards up over Jens Lehmann and past Mathieu Flamini on the line.

Arsenal, though, were soon back on the offensive.

Captain Thierry Henry, fit again following a neck problem, looked menacing again down the left, as he cut inside before drilling an angled strike over the bar.

Unlike many of the sides which had come to the Emirates Stadium and then sat back, the Cottagers looked anything but content to defend their advantage on home soil.

Captain Luis Boa Morte tricked his way past Alexander Song with a sublime backheel before dashing to the by-line and pulling the ball across goal.

Tomasz Radzinski arrived just in time at the far post ahead of Flamini to double Fulham's lead with a tap-in on 19 minutes - but then needed treatment after his momentum took the Canadian into the advertising hoardings.

It should have been 3-0 and game over just after the half hour when Boa Morte dashed clear of the Arsenal defence, with more than a suspicion of offside.

Lehmann narrowed the angle quickly - and the big German stood tall to make a crucial block.

Arsenal went up the other end and pulled a goal back nine minutes before the break through a stunning free-kick from van Persie.

Liam Rosenior upended Alexander Hleb, and was booked for his troubles.

The young Dutchman lined up behind the dead ball - a full 30 yards from goal slightly right of centre.

There was only ever one thing on his mind, as van Persie promptly curled a quite breathtaking left-foot effort around the wall and into the far corner, past the diving Antti Niemi.

Jensen was just off target with his chance from a free-kick as the match became somewhat scrappy.

McBride forced another good stop from Lehmann, this time at his near post, as the hosts finished the half on top.

Wenger called for Cesc Fabregas at the restart, with Song taken off - and the Gunners looked lively.

Henry thought he had levelled after collecting a trademark cross-field pass and driving an angled shot past Niemi from the left. However, the assistant's flag had already been raised in what looked a marginal call at best.

As the hour mark approached, neither the tempo nor the edge to the match looked like dropping.

Tomas Rosicky was given a rest, with England starlet Walcott set to inject some pace down the Arsenal right.

On 63 minutes, the visitors were reduced to 10 men when centre-half Senderos, who had already been booked, received a second yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Boa Morte, just outside the penalty area.

The Fulham captain was within inches of restoring his side's two-goal advantage - but the free-kick rattled back off the crossbar with Lehmann rooted to the spot.

Arsenal had to take risks now, and continually left themselves open on the quick counter attack.

However, the visitors almost snatched an equaliser when Walcott's first-time shot from the edge of the Fulham penalty area struck the outside base of the far post as the Gunners rallied.

Tempers were close to boiling point in the closing stages, Flamini and McBride both cautioned for their part in a touchline tussle.

Henry nearly connected with Walcott's low centre, as the Gunners were left to reflect on what might have been as their title dreams faded - a result which no doubt would have been greeted with just as much jubilation a few miles down the Fulham Road.

Boc rocks Blues title hopes

Chelsea's defensive frailties were in evidence yet again as Fulham came from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Carlos Bocanegra hit a late equaliser to leave the champions six points adrift of Manchester United at the top of the Premiership.

Deadly Didier Drogba looked to have earned Chelsea all three points when he put Jose Mourinho's side ahead in the 61st minute but Bocanegra's 84th-minute equaliser cost the Blues another two home points.

Drogba's strike, his sixth in as many games, made him the first Chelsea player in a decade to score 20 goals in one season.

The Ivory Coast international, who this week admitted he had thought about quitting the club in the summer, momentarily took the focus off Chelsea's defensive problems.

But Mourinho will be hoping influential captain John Terry will recover quickly from his back operation if they are to have any hope of catching Sir Alex Ferguson's men.

Chelsea's current defensive frailties were exposed as early as the 17th minute by Fulham's Moritz Volz - he scored the 15,000th Premiership goal - and demonstrated once more why Terry is such a towering talisman for Mourinho's side.

Chelsea have now conceded eight goals during Terry's absence with a back injury that required surgery in midweek and they looked decidedly rocky without his inspirational leadership.

Midfielder Michael Essien twice went close in the opening three minutes - sending one shot just wide of the target and forcing Antti Niemi into a fine save with his second effort moments later.

In the 13th minute Essien turned provider with a powerful run down the right flank. His cross into the six-yard box fell perfectly for Salomon Kalou but the Chelsea striker just failed to apply the finishing touch.

But they paid for their wastefulness in the 17th minute when Volz put the visitors in front with a goal that would not have pleased Blues coach Jose Mourinho.

Franck Queudrue's throw into the penalty area was dummied superbly by Tomasz Radzinski to leave Volz clear to unleash a right-foot volley into the net.

Volz's strike was the seventh goal Chelsea had conceded since captain Terry had been sidelined.

Fulham should have increased their lead in the 26th minute but an unmarked Wayne Routledge fired over the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area to the dismay of boss Chris Coleman.

But Chelsea equalised in the 35th minute when Liam Rosenior failed to clear a long cross from Makelele and Lampard despatched the loose ball into the corner of the net via the legs of the unfortunate Fulham defender.

Lampard's hopes of claiming his 10th goal of the season were dashed when Chelsea's equaliser was officially credited as an own goal by Rosenior.

Chelsea looked short on confidence with Ferreira proving yet again that he is not a central defender. But with Khalid Boulahrouz suspended, Mourinho had little option but to play the right-back out of position.

He was caught out of position on numerous occasions in the opening half and Fulham were unlucky not to punish Chelsea's poor defending a second time when Brian McBride's header was pushed off the line by Hilario in the 47th minute.

Mourinho, clearly fearing two more dropped home points over the festive period, opted to send on the out-of-sorts Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko in place of full-back Geremi in the 57th minute.

The change worked wonders as Drogba put the home side in front in the 61st minute.

The Ivory coast international headed Lampard's cross home from six yards after Fulham had failed to clear Ashley Cole's long punt into the area. It was his sixth goal in as many games.

But Fulham rocked Chelsea six minutes from time when Essien failed to clear a cross from Queudrue and after McBride's shot was superbly saved by Hilario, Bocanegra pounced to equalise from close range.

Chelsea lost further ground on leaders Manchester United as Carlos Bocanegra struck a late leveller for Fulham in an entertaining game at Stamford Bridge.

Moriz Volz put the visitors ahead when he stole into the box and lashed in the Premiership's 15,000th goal.

Frank Lampard levelled when his 20-yard drive was deflected into the bottom corner by Fulham's Liam Rosenior.

Didier Drogba headed in Lampard's cross to make it 2-1 but Bocanegra slotted home late on to earn Fulham a point.

It was just desserts for the visitors who had more than played their part in a fascinating encounter in at times torrential weather conditions in west London.

But it all looked so unlikely at the start as Chelsea began brightly.

They could have been 2-0 up inside the first five minutes, Salomon Kalou crossing for Michael Essien to poke wide and then Essien returning the favour only for Kalou to fail to make contact six yards out.

Kalou was causing all sorts of problems down the Chelsea left and Rosenior was struggling to cope with his electric pace and dribbling ability.

Yet without the formidable John Terry, the Blues at present always look likely to concede and against the run of play, they fell behind.

A long throw from the left from Franck Queudrue was missed by every Chelsea player and Volz had time to take a touch and rifle it in from eight yards, via the right leg of Paolo Ferreira.

In an instant Volz wrote his name into the Premiership history books and he will have £15,000 from league sponsors Barclays to donate to a charity of his choice.

Yet it was Chelsea who were in a charitable mood and it should have been 2-0 when Wayne Routledge blazed over from 12 yards after more ponderous defending from the champions.

Drogba latches on to Frank Lampard's cross to put Chelsea ahead

Fulham could barely believe the freedom they were being allowed, but the Stamford Bridge faithful need not have worried as normal order was soon restored.

A hopeful punt into the box from Claude Makelele was weakly headed away by Rosenior and as Lampard drove it goalwards with interest from 20 yards the ball ricocheted off the Fulham defender and into the net.

If the visitors felt hard done by with the manner of the equaliser they did not show it and they burst out of the blocks in the second half.

McBride was foiled by a Hilario save and the American then crossed for Collins John who was inches away from making contact.

But as the heavens opened, Chelsea found that extra piece of quality they needed to go in front.

Ashley Cole's long cross was not properly cleared and Lampard turned neatly on the left-hand edge of the six-yard box to cross for Drogba to comfortably head home.

To coin a cliche, the rain was continuing to prove a real leveller and Fulham to their credit always looked capable of getting back on level terms.

Their perseverance was rewarded six minutes from time when Ballack failed to clear Queudrue's cross, Hilario saved McBride's effort with his right foot and Bocanegra was on hand to slot in.

The point keeps Fulham 12th, but more importantly Chelsea go into the new year six points behind United at the top.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho:
"I must credit Fulham and the way they reacted. They know we can't defend so they attacked, it's that simple.
"The story is the same for us. When teams keep seeing us making mistakes they believe they can score goals.

"At the moment we are always in danger. We've conceded two goals four times in-a-row and it doesn't surprise me."

Fulham manager Chris Coleman:
"It's a massive point for us and I thought our overall performance was magnificent. We can't ask for more from this current crop of players.
"We knew the longer the game went on and we weren't out of it we'd have a great chance to get something here.

"We played a lot of good football in the second half and made chances too."

Fantastic result and Moritz got the 15000th Premiership goal. Over the moon, Brian.

Fulham Football Club has today announced that A.S. Roma striker Vincenzo Montella has joined the Club on a six month loan deal that will see him wear the Fulham colours until the summer of 2007.

Montella began his career with Serie C side Empoli F.C. in 1990. In 1996 he moved to Serie B club Genoa scoring 21 goals in his only season with the club. He then spent three seasons with U.C. Sampdoria in Serie A, before he joined A.S Roma for €25m in 1999 where he has remained.

32 year old Montella, nicknamed L'Aeroplanino (Little Airplane), won a Scudetto with A.S. Roma in 2001 and is renowned for scoring against Lazio in the Rome derby games. On the international stage, Montella received his first Italian cap against Wales on 5 June 1999 and was part of the Italian national team at Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup.

This morning Vincenzo Montella said:
‘I am pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement between the two clubs to enable me to play the next six months for Fulham. It has been an ambition of mine to play in England at some point in my career and I am happy to be given the opportunity. For me, I just want to play football and score goals, so I am looking forward to being able to do that with Fulham as soon as possible.’

Chris Coleman added:
‘I am delighted that we have been able to bring in a player of Vincenzo’s quality to assist us with the latter half of this season’s campaign. His qualities as a player are widely recognised, and his motivation to join Fulham is based purely on his desire to play football and to score goals for us, and I couldn’t wish for a better reason for us to welcome him here.’

Fantastic signing in my opinion. What does everyone else think?

EDIT:

Fulham accept bid for striker John

Fulham have announced they have accepted a bid from an unnamed Premiership club for striker Collins John.

Dutch forward John has been strongly linked with a move to Watford, who are desperate to bolster their forward line during the January transfer window as they bid to stay in the top flight.

It appears likely that John will be allowed to leave for a fee in the region of £2million.

Fulham are willing to let John leave Craven Cottage after confirming the loan signing of Vincenzo Montella from Roma on Thursday.

Meanwhile, American midfielder Clint Dempsey has passed a medical at Fulham and awaits the outcome of a work permit application next week.

Boa nails down Hammers switch

Luis Boa Morte has joined West Ham from Fulham for an undisclosed fee, with Chris Coleman admitting he has lost a "great servant to the club".

The Portugal international played more than 200 games for the west Londoners and was club captain at Craven Cottage.

Fulham boss Coleman told his club's official website: "I am of course disappointed that Luis has decided his future is not with Fulham FC. He has been a great servant to the club and we all wish him well.

"However, I have always said that if a player is not happy playing for this club and expresses a desire to go, then I would be prepared to let him leave; and this was the case with Luis.

"Having discussed this with the chairman and the managing director, we believe it is in the best interest of the club to invest in players who are prepared to commit their future to us."

Coleman added: "We will continue to add strength and depth this window and, if necessary, the next, to ensure that we have a strong enough squad of players for the future to enable us to push on as a club, which remains our ambition."

The 29-year-old played 250 games for Fulham, scoring 54 goals after joining from Southampton in a £1.7million deal in 2001.

The Lisbon-born player began his Premiership career with Arsenal.

Well, he's almost ending his peak in his career and has been in very bad form for Fulham this particular season. I don't know really if he will do even better at West Ham. Having said that, why'd he leave Fulham? I thought he was like the Henry of Fulham, the loyal one. Ah well...

Right. A good win today so I thought I'd bring back this thread.

Zamora strikes as Bhoys are beaten
Bobby Zamora marked his Fulham debut with a stunning strike as Celtic suffered a setback with a 3-1 defeat at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Zamora completed his move from West Ham on Tuesday and wasted no time opening his account when he unleashed an unstoppable drive from the edge of the area.

A moment of brilliance from strike partner Erik Nevland set up the chance and the Norwegian also got on the scoresheet with a well-taken opener.

Celtic dominated between the first-half goals and deserved their 42nd-minute response from Barry Robson, who curled home a slick free-kick.

But the outcome was put beyond doubt when Denmark defender Leon Andreasen powered home with five minutes to go.

It was a surprisingly competitive match that the Scottish champions, fielding a strong team, controlled for lengthy spells.

But in contrast to Fulham's clinical touch, they missed a string of chances in the first half and struggled to re-establish themselves in attack after the interval.

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan included 10 of the starting line-up which dispatched Southampton 2-0 on Friday night, with Massimo Donati replacing Paul Hartley in midfield.

Most of team was substituted at half-time at St Mary's but their exertions may have explained the early defensive lapse that allowed Fulham to take an early lead.

Just one minute and 47 seconds were on the clock when Nevland escaped unnoticed into the box.

New signing Zoltan Gera picked out Nevland with a floating cross from the right and the little Norwegian striker buried the chance from close range.

Scott McDonald had a chance to equalise shortly after but blazed over the bar as he raced in at the right post.

Sharp reflexes from David Stockdale, a recent capture from Darlington, denied Robson from the edge of the area as Celtic took control of the game.

McDonald glanced a header wide and then Chris Killen directed a fine chance straight into the arms of a grateful Stockdale.

Just as it seemed Fulham's early exuberance had been tamed by Celtic, they conjured a stunning goal initiated by Paul Konchesky's long pass to Nevland.

Nevland, stationed near the byline, whipped the ball over his head to the edge of the area where the onrushing Zamora drove home a magnificent strike.

Zamora was growing in confidence and his delicate flick to Andranik Teymourian should have been buried by the Iranian, but keeper Mark Brown came to the rescue.

Fulham were back on top but then it was Celtic's turn to score against the run of play, Robson converting a free-kick after being felled by Brede Hangeland.

The match bore little resemblance to a pre-season friendly amid a competitive opening to the second half.

Replacements had been kept to a minimum by both managers at half-time but by 66th minute the Cottagers line-up looked markedly different.

Celtic laid siege to the opposition goal for several minutes but could not breach a determined defence.

Instead, they were shown the way it should be done in the 86th minute when a succession of corners eventually saw the ball drop to Andreasen who made no mistake.

The new boys seem to be settling in well. I wasn't too happy with the signing of Zamora and Pantsil but apparently Zamora's goal was a beauty and Pantsil was solid all match.

LOL, anything I say about Zamora is tongue in cheek, I hope you realise that by now. I say he will set the league alight this season, scoring 20+ goals, in reality - he most probably won't. However I DO think, if he gets a regular run of games, and can get into some decent form, he'll have a good season, and Fulham fans will start to see his part of the £6m fee paying off. ESPECIALLY if Bullard & Gera (or Murphy or Davies - I don't know who Roy Hodgson is intending to start in midfield) can provide him with some good service.

That is NOT Bobby Zamora. I repeat that is NOT Bobby Zamora.

Must have been quite upsetting for him though, being told by the club he's supported all his life that they no longer want him? Besides, he was the chap who got Wham into the EPL in the first place. I don't think he'll ever be as prolific as he was at the Albion though. God knows why we sold him to Spurs, what a waste.

OBVIOUSLY because he had much better players around him when he was with us. Despite the defences of what was then Division 3 being JUST AS solid, if not better than those in the EPL today - he still managed to keep up a great scoring record due to the pure class that was there to provide him with tantalising crosses, and delightful through-balls.

Or something.

But Healy's agent, Stephen Hughes, insists his client was merely responding in kind after he was targeted by the visiting supporters at Craven Cottage.

Hughes told the Daily Mail: "David has told me he was wearing boots with a Northern Ireland flag on the back.

"They had been made for him to celebrate being the leading scorer in the Euro 2008 qualification matches.

"The Celtic fans saw that and know he's a Rangers fan.

"They were chanting, 'Where were you on the 12th', which is the day of the Orange marching bands in Belfast.

"So he simply pretended to play the flute - there was no attempt to inflame the fans.

Fair enough.

What do you make of Omuzusi, Papa?

Decent young player. With experience and good coaching he'll grow up into quite a talent. I'm very glad he's gone off on loan because he wouldn't have got the games needed to turn him into a good enough player to deserve a place in the team. Definitely one for the future.

However, I also remember saying that about Rosenior and I don't think he's had a decent game since.

Fulham accept Ipswich's Volz bid
Fulham have accepted a bid from Ipswich for full-back Moritz Volz.

The former Germany Under-21 international joined the Cottagers in 2003 from Arsenal and has made 127 appearances, scoring two goals.

But he only played 12 games last season and was not in their squad for their opening-day defeat at Hull.

Ipswich manager Jim Magilton told his club's website: "We have made an offer to Fulham for Moritz Volz and it has been accepted."

Found this chant on a Fulham site today. Quite like it but it will never catch on. To the tune of 'When Johnny Comes Marching Home':

That Sanchez he was such a clown, Bullard, Bullard
It looked like he would take us down, Bullard, Bullard
But you came back and saved the day, and now we even win away
Cos you're super Jimmy, super Jim Bullard

They said your knee would never mend, Bullard, Bullard
But now we watch your free-kicks bend, Bullard, Bullard
Past the keeper like a dart, to warm the cockles of our hearts
Cos you're super Jimmy, super Jim Bullard

You were Chris Coleman's greatest buy Bullard, Bullard
You've said you'll stay until you die Bullard, Bullard
We'll sing this song throughout the land, and we'll put your name on one of our stands
Cos we love you Jimmy, super Jim Bullard
