That is a great 11. I agree with each selection but (without seeming to be biased) can't you find a spot for Viduka. He scored something like 12 from the last 9 games or so (I'm not sure of the exact figue). He may not have had the best start to the season but he certainly came home like a steam train.

Just a thought, that's all!

great to see j'lloyd in there

as for viduka, there's no way he's ousting van/henry from that front-two ;)

Zygalski
17-05-2003, 17:14
Choosing a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 formation could solve that.
Any ideas?

Robinho
17-05-2003, 18:16
well i didn't wana get bogged-down in the tactical side of the team of the year :D i was just sticking to a straight 442. i spose you could play with 3 up front - henry on the left side and van/viduka in the centre with the other on the right to support the focal front-man

Zygalski

It was just a suggestion as a possibility to reduce the constant arguments over which strikers should be in.

I don't know why people hype-up Chris Marsden so much. The other week I heard somebody say Marsden should be in the England squad - does anybody realise how easily he would fold on the international scene. He has very little quality - he's an OK crosser of the ball but in the international scene he would be a laughing stock. Yesterday's cup final for instance, he was nowhere to be seen even tho he is club captain

definitley friedel in goals. riise at left back. in the middle, michael svensson and sol campbell. right back has to be carragher, most improved player at liverpool this season. central midfield of vieira(because he is the best in the world) and jermaine jenas(he is 4 years older than me and has the maturity of someone 40 years older than me, superb). left wing has to giggsy, although i am a strict follower of the great kewell, his season was mostly spent out of position. right has to be beckham simply because of his performance in the old trafford leg of the real game(and some stellar league performances of course). up front, ive decided to opt for henry(duh) and beattie(van nistelrooy is good, but as a lone striker more than strike partner, beattie and henry would be perfect for each other, pace and power). the bench consists of mr david seaman(come one, he was good, so was niemi, but this'll be his last full premiership season in between the stix), ashley cole, john o'shea, frank lampard and ruud van nistelrooy.

He plays for Everton, he is a young rightback I think who has just emerged.

Lisbon67Seville03

he played quite a lot(maybe 25 games, i think, possibly more) for evertone, which is good for a youngster. but he wasnt anything special, not like someone, like say, melchiot for chelsea or someone like that.

Maybe Hibbert has been over-shadowed by Rooney.

Why was there a lot of talk about the Southampton right back in the FA Cup Final? I know he hasn't played many matches but who is better between him and Hibbert?

Hibbert, on the basis that Baird has played only two proffesional games. Though it will be interesting to see how Baird does next year.

baird was talked about so much because he had only made one senior start befor ethe FA Cup, a huge huge gamble. whereas hibbert has been in the side a lot since moyes took over. and rooney, sure he was good against turkey, but whenever he plays for everton, he is shite!! he really isnt that good, and ths hype he gets is gonna end up killing him, both professionally and physically. he is like owen was, only a bigger star. im sick of it, frankly i think everton's best strike force is campbell radzinski.

Look at it this way, Rooney is 17! I have just turned 15 and personally I find it quite scary that he has the ability to menace other defences. As for Baird yes it was his second game, but he is 21, whereas Rooney represented his country at 17! That says something about his talent.

Yes I agree with you that Radzinski and Campbell are the best partnership but please don't be stupid enough to believe Rooney will not become the greatest player this country has seen.

Lisbon67Seville03
26-05-2003, 21:50
im saying that the press are killing him. if they lay off, he could and would become the greatest england ever had. but if they hype him up to this god that not even pele was for brazil, then he will not be as good as he can be, like michael owen. owen possessed as much skill as rooney, actually, i think he was better at the same age. but the press hyped him up to be the jesus of our age, and he wasnt, and they killed him for it. so maybe the press should just leave alone the prodigies. i've noticed that everywhere in britain, like james mcfadden. he was hyped and hyped and hyped, and if he is the future of scotland, then i am personally not looking forward to future campaigns because he hasnt met those expectations.

strong team. lack of henry in the starting line-up tho. he certainly was exemplary this season and i think a little bit better than zola, although zola does deserve to be in the 16.
