i think nedy just squeaks this one despite his weaker midfield, alan smith is crap, but i think rangers would get beat down the wings and woodgate would slowdown martins and villa just enough

Rangers for me. He's got a fast attack who will leave Woody and Coloccini confused and pretty much helpless. Del Piero is in good form too, so he'd cause some trouble. Van der Vaart as well. The midfield battle is tough though. Mavuba and De Rossi are both strong and I think Mascherano and Maduro would have thier hands full with them.

Messi, Ewerthon, and Carew are also classy, but with De Rossi, Mavuba, Juan, and Van Buyten protecting the back line, I wonder how many chances would actually develop.

Anyways, good game, but Rangers' edges it because of the keeper. :D

I see this one being pretty damn close.

Nedy:

Good defence and goalkeeper. Woodgate in particular is very good, and will be leading the line against a very strong oppostion attack. Gio has great experience and will need to use all of it to fend of Del Piero et al.

Midfield is very good with Mascherano and Maduro, but I really don't rate Smith in there. He'll fight for the ball sure, but no matter how many times SAF plays him there he will not become naturally suited to it.

I'm also not a huge fan of Carew, but I see him being quite useful in your formation. With great pace and creativity behind him, and of course his height and power, you have a great range of options and styles up front. You can really do damage with that I think.

Rangers:

A decent defence, no doubt, but not quite a strong as Nedy's. Van Buyten is the star of your back line, and he should lead it with plenty of enthusiasm and skill, but it's going to be tough against Nedy's forwards.

Your midfield is very durable, with De Rossi and Mavuba being very competitive and capable of pushing forward and defending well. They'll have their work cut out though against Nedy's trio - it would be worse if Smith wasn't in there.

The forward four you have are very good indeed. They will cause anyone problems, guaranteed. However I think that you may be a little top heavy. You'll be a little exposed when Del Piero et al push on forward. I think that Nedy's defence will concede but I think that he's well set up to punish you on the break when your attack over-stretches itself.

I'd like to vote for a draw, probably about 2-2, but I think I'll have to go for Nedy by a whisker.

I think Nedy will win this one aswell. Both have great midfields except Alan Smith as the holding midfielder. Sucks big time. Piero and Vaart can prove to be one of the best wingers in D2. Villa has been fantastic lately, so I think that's keeping Rangers in the game. The defense though looks a bit weak compared to Nedy's Colo and Woody. Goalkeepers are both equal, Landreau playing alright at Nantes, same to Franco. I think Nedy has a better defense. Midfield though is absolutely Rangers in every part. But the attacks, will go to Nedy imo because I think Messi and Ewerthon can give Carew loads of goal scoring opportunities. Messi and Ewerthon both on great form too. Plus Nedy, you do have Wiltord as a sub who can replace Messi and still impose a threat because Wiltord-Carew also works. Nedy, close game really.

Very tough to decide. But I just think Rangers attacking 4 have the edge over Nedy's.

Too close to call. Both teams tend to cancel each other out I feel, as each teams defenders and defensive midfielders can control the opposition's attacking players equally as well. No vote from me.

Nedy win for me, but very close as we all know.

The partnership of Nedy's 3 are very good. The youth and stamina of Maduro and Mascherano along with the power of Alan Smith would be hard to get by in this match. Nedy's trio in midfield would be able to keep Villa and Martins at bay, as well as the defense providing some structual support. Van der Vaart and Del Piero could maybe link up and create some chances, but I believe they will struggle to create many to be honest.

Also Nedy's combination of Ewerthon, Messi and Carew are very capable of scoring 2 or more goals. With Ewerthon is excellent form, and also Messi too I think it would be hard for Van Buyten and Juan to stop them.

Nedy 2 - 0 Rangers
