Not even the World All-Star team could beat The_G's team 5-0! Lucio and Ayala are world class centre backs, Javier Zanetti has been one of the best full-backs in the past two decades, Emerson is arguably the greatest holding player on the planet, and Stephan Appiah is a very good central midfielder, so I can't see how they'd get stuffed 5-0.
Down the wings, G has the advantage. I'm not too keen on Robinho on the right wing, he'd leave Cicinho exploited. As we've seen with Real this season, Cicinho is constantly bombing forward leaving Beckham to fill in at right back, but Robinho certainly wouldn't do that. This would leave one of the best attackers in the world, Pavel Nedved with gaps he'd exploit. As good as Martin Petrov is, Zanetti is probably the best right back in the world, so will find a way of stopping him. If Wright Phillips is on form, he can cause Eric Abidal problems, however I think Abidal would be up to the challenge.
The midfield battle would be close, Emerson and Appiah are a very combative duo, and would be snapping at Xavi's heels before he can use his wonderful passing ability. Demichelis is also a good holding player, so I feel they would cancel each other out.
Ronaldinho and Eto'o are the main dangermen, but up against Lucio and Ayala, they won't have it easy. Likewise, Gilardino and Makaay will face a tough task against Maldini and Carragher. A moment of magic from Ronaldinho with a defence splitting pass for Eto'o to slot away will be cancelled out by a Nedved inspired goal as he finds a gap in behind Cicinho. Draw for me, 1-1.

HP for me, about 5-0 I think...
Ok then.
HP might get the better but in real life, I can't see my team losing 5-0. In future, just forget our grudges when you are voting, please.

Good stuff Mat. Very balanced team, but I think you're a bit too defensive in the midfield. If you were to play a diamond and have Tevez at the tip of it, that'd have been much more deadly.
Ps- Tacchi scored today.
EDIT/
I pretty much agree with what James said.

Yeah, had that in mind but with your line of Robinho,Ronaldinho,Petrov behind Eto'o theres no way could I leave one player isolated in midfield.
I figured I'd need a partner for Emerson.

I think Emerson and Appiah is a great midfield partnership to be honest. Essien and Appiah are fantastic for Ghana, so Emerson and Appiah could be of similar quality. The Demichelis-Xavi duo looks of very good quality too, so the midfield battle would be very tight.

I just think that with Tevez in there Mat would give such a different dynamic to the game. Appiah and Emerson is a good combo though. It'd be silly if you lost this 5-0. No, ridiculous. ;)

Thanks, credit where credits due though, you've got a great team, stong in all areas. Early days though, maybe London can grab a point... or 3. ;)

Tevez would be great in the hole, just behing Makaay and Gilardino, he could be lethal, maybe in a 4-3-1-2, 4-2-2-2 formation or 4-4-2 diamond formation, but as a partner for Emerson in a basic 442 formation, I agree with Mat, I think it'd leave Emerson with too much work to do.

I think Mat has his tactics right in this particular game, though. In the future, a diamond formation could be the way to go, but in my opinion, Nedved is Mat's main dangerman in this fixture and the player who could be inspirational to him getting a result. Anyway, we'll see how it goes and what others think, should be a good game.

Agreed. It'll be interesting to see what people think.
Nedved should influence the vote along with Gila and Makaay.

HP for me, about 5-0 I think...
Poff you really need to look at formations and tactics. You did this last week with my game against barry where you just pointed out bigger names and voted for them.
I agree with pretty much every word James wrote. Both teams are very well balanced with the ability to carry out almost every sort of attacking or defensive movement imaginable. Whilst I acknowledge Ronaldinho and Eto'o as being great threats, i'm not inclined to rate Eto'o as being better than either Gilardino or Makaay. Couple this with Nedved's influence against a defensively weak right side of HP's team and I think that Mat is more than capable of at least getting a draw.
As fantastic as both teams are, and therefore no matter how close I see this as being, I'm not going to sit on the fence here: Mat wins for me. Two truely great lineups though guys. Congrats :)

Great match up here guys.
Right, let's get down to business. Both teams have great defences, Carragher and Maldini is a great partnership but saying that Mat's center backs of Lucio and Ayala are equally impressive. I feel that Mta has the better rb, Zanetti is easily one of the best right backs around, so i'd say he's better than Cicinho. Although Victor has the better lb in my opinion. Both teams should have hard times trying to get through both teams backlines. When it comes down to who has the better midfield in this match, i'd say Victor. Demicheles and Xavi are great central midfielders, their passing and tackling ability's are outrageos. Robinho and Petrov out wide would be really dangerous, also with Ronnie between them you can't think of anything but a huge showboating match. Their creativity and skill should set up Eto'o nicely. Although saying all that, Mat's midfield is class too. He has good attacking options and good defensive options. With the likes of Emerson and Appiah in midfield, it would help out the defence greatly while they try to contain the likes of Eto'o and Ronaldinho. SWP and Nedved on form could be very dangerous, they could cause major problems for Abidal and Cicinho. Mentioning Cicinho, he'd be likely to bomb down the wings so could leave his rb postion open at times, this would give Nedved a huge advantage and whip those balls in for the strike duo of Gilardinho and Makaay to get on the end of. This would be a tight match, very tight, but Mat could may take something from this. He has the quality, so could be a draw for me.
Tevez would be great in the hole, just behing Makaay and Gilardino, he could be lethal, maybe in a 4-3-1-2.
I am agree with James......Tevez is great playing like playmaker or Second Striker....
I think both teams would find it hard to score as much as they are probably expecting. I feel a draw will be the final outcome here as to counter on HP's attacking force, The G has used a strengthened defensive force. However I still think that both teams will score 1 goal, but only 1 each.
The G 1 - 1 HP
Some great teams there. I looked at both squads, formations and tactics for a while and couldnt see more than a draw. I voted The G since he was trailing behind.
This would a highscoring match in real life, despite Makaaaaaaaay not being on his best form. Both worldclass midfields, dream attacks and solid defenses.
