Excellent match up here.
Both teams are quality, Reyes has an excellent player to fill in all positions. Nikos has a great midfield and strikeforce, although his defence here let's him down. James would win this as Nikos' defence is too 'weak' to handle the likes of Henry and Ronney upfront. Even Makalele coming back to help wouldn't make that much of a difference. Both have blistering pace and are very skillfull, i feel Nikos' defence just wouldn't be able to handle that. With Nikos' defence outta the way time to go on to James'. What can you say but 'possibly the best defence in the league'. Trezequet upfront on his own is definetly going to have problems trying to break through on that defence. Even with the likes of Joaquin and Simao out wide helping it will syill be tough to break through. The most thrilling part to this match has to be the midfield battle. Their though Nikos should win, but that's the only place he'll win in this match.

Nikos has a great midfield that would probably win the battle against Reyes' midfield, but that's about it. Reyes has a really nice defense and a nice attacking force. I think Xabi and Essien would have their hands full with Makelele, Gerrard, and Juninho. Joaquin and Simao would be hard to stop down the sides, but Cole and Puyol are both good defenders.
Anyways, damn you james, Reyes takes it. But only.

I like Nikos' team a lot, but nothing can beat James' complete team.
Nikos's is very attacking, its not balanced enough I don't feel. Whereas on the other hand, there is Alonso and Essien to keep the peace in the centre. Alonso can pick out a pass anywhere on the pitch as can Juninho and Gerrard. Gerrard also has a strong tackle as has Essien, but Makelele is there to cover. Very close centre midfield battle but I'd probably say Nikos would get the advantage.
Both teams would use width to their best possible advantage as they both have superb wingers. Deisler on form and Reyes's ability to link up with the front men could prove deadly. Joaquin and Simao would bring many threats but I feel Puyol and Cole would keep them at bay unlike the other way around. James wins it in this department.
Both are playing a back 4 but I think we all know whos is the stronger of the two. James's is nearly flawless whereas Nikos's wouldn't be too difficult to penetrate and slip through. James takes this one.
Rooney and Henry are one duo I have been dreaming about for years now, I truly believe that this is a partnership from heaven. Both run all match, both can pick the ball up and sprint 50 yards with it, both have dangerous shots whether inside or outside the box. I can't forget the creativity they produce is endless. James again.
James 2 - 1 Nikos
Well, in the midfield two teams are very balanced, but I prefer Nikos midfield......but James defense and attack are excellents are betters than Nikos......for that I go to James......
There would be a few goals I feel, what with the attacking flair on view, but I'm going for Nikos. I wasn't sure who to go for as I felt it was pretty even, and as the gulf in votes is so big I'm going for him to balance it out a tiny bit. Very tiny.
Oh God, here we go again.
Next matchday once more. James, your team is too strong, I don't see anyone beating you.

With what appears to be Reyes' strongest team out, it does appear that Nikos is in for it.
Defensively is where I see this being won and lost. As good as Nikos' back four are, James has pretty much the best lineup that you can field.
In midfield Nikos has a nice formation. Makelele will sweep things forward nicely, and he certainly has plenty to aim at. My only worry about his midfield is that I don't see a hard tackler in there. James has Essien, but Nikos doesn't really have anyone to win posession with a solid challenge. Instead I can see him just chasing the ball.
My only complaint about Nikos' forward line is that he doesn't have enough to penetrate Reyes' defence. I think Nikos was right to use 3 forward players, but I think he should have put a man in the hole. A sort of Aimar type figure, playing behind two centre forwards may have worked better.
Naturally the combination of Henry and Rooney is something rather special. You can see them banging in goals for fun, even against a good defence like Nikos has. Plenty of creativity and drive from midfield in both teams, but there's no doubt that James has what it takes to bag 2/3 goals, whereas Nikos may only score 1.
As a Dutchman I appreciate Nikos' attacking spirit here a lot, he has lots of power going forward. His backline is solid, good central duo.
But, Reyes probably has the best team Ive seen yet. Although I wouldve play Puyol in centre back, due to Nesta's bad spell.
Im torn, I think Reyes will win it anyway so Ill vote Nikos. I love attacking football
I dont think Reyes will need my vote here.

Two VERY good teams, both very strong in midfield and attack, but Reyes defence is a gift from heaven.
Reyes takes it.

Great teams, lads. Nikos maybe just edges it in midfield but thats all really. Rooney and Henry would be scoring goals for fun, especially with Campbell in the side, who has been poor lately. Reyes' defence is almost perfect, although it is missing John Terry, the king of all defenders. ;) But to be fair to Nikos, his attack is frightening and I can't see his team being a push-over personally. I think Reyes will win it, but if its anymore than 2-0 then its a bit harsh on Nikos' team.
Great game.

From what I've seen, Reyes9 has the best team in the whole Football Fantasy thing. Who won what in previous seasons?

You didn't say that when you destroyed Nikos 4-0 last week, despite him fielding a 5 man backline and one of the best holding midfielders around, I don't think that was a "fair" reflection on the game either ;) I'm only winning 2-0, it's not exactly a thrashing. Personally, I think Nikos should have gone 4-4-2 to put more pressure on the defence. I'm sure it'll come good for him soon enough as he has enough talent in his team to turn it right around once he has found the right system.

I won the League and Highway Penguin won the Cup.

But that was different. He fielded a defensive team that stood nearly no chance against a team playing an offensively and defensively balanced side. Here he fielded a pretty offensive team.
I think I did say that it was silly to be winning by such a margin too..not sure though. Oh well, I suppose I'll have to find a killer line up for our match. ;)

Mat, go with a 2-2-6. You'll surely overload his backline and get at least one goal. ;)

Yeah, but still, there's a difference between winning to scoring 4 goals against a defensive team, maybe they can break through a couple of times, but 4 times is a little excessive compared to the 2 i've scored here.
I'm gonna drop points at some stage anyway, i'm fielding arguably my strongest line-up here, so i'd hope to win when I do that, but i'll have to think carefully about when to rest players at the appropriate time to try to limit the amount of inevitable dropped points.

Obviously. In real life that is very true. I'd have been lucky to get 2 past his defense, but as we are voting on more things than the amount of defenders they've got at the back and what not.
Anyways, this is a different game. You will lose eventually... :)
Only kidding. Best of luck to both of you. No hard feelings Jamie. :)

i don't want to vote for james
but i will because he deserves to win
I gave my vote to Nikos because his midfield trio is superior to Reyes9's duo and i seriously doubt that Nikos' men couldn't score one at the very least. He has loads of talent in his squad.
I did my best, so I'm cool with this. Ah James, good game man. Much respect. Can't wait to play you in my home next time. Hehe.
Sorry, been busy lately, can't really vote/write about the other matches going on. I will try to though as soon as possible. Sorry again.
I like Nikos' team a lot, but nothing can beat James' complete team.
We have you and a couple of other fools to thank for this.
