I was actually wondering how it would be possible to make a sig about Enigma Variations when you mentioned it earlier, never mind that :tongue:
It's nice, except the render, looks completely slapped on, and not in a good way, if I were you I'd blend it and desaturate it a little. Oh and change the 'artist' :tongue:
Its the quality of the sig that needs to be taken into account when voting or commenting, not the artist :tongue:
But i'll take your comments for improvement, so thanks.

Its very simple, but the text layout is interesting to say the least, the background is well worked, although its very feint, it still creates a good effect. Nice work.

Original: The Enigma one is kinda like Teek's SOTW 12 entery, what's the font? The oasis one is nice but the Zep one is better.

Got realy pissed off after I made this as I merged all the layers together to cut the corners and forgot to go back on the history before saving it so I can't make any changes now. Don't think I will though.

Stick with Billie Joe if I were you Abaddon, although im quite fond of that new effort, but it seems to simple. Care to tell me what that font is that you used in the 'organised sound' sig? You seem to use it alot and I think its quite cool...
Orator Std it's a stock font so you won't need to D/L.

Class mate. this is the best musical one I have seen from you all week. Looks all kind of grungey and messy but that works and the colours are sort of stand out colours but not overly bright if you get me. Class piece this.

Latest work, some credit goes to Abaddon for the background which you may be able to see if you look closely, I thought i'd give it a go. I feel theres too little colour in the sig but meh. Comments appreciated.

Original - Its nice, good use of fractals and the background seem tidy too. I dont really like the border, if it didnt cover as much area as it does there but with the same design I think it could work better. Also you seem to have added some kind of noise effect on most of the sig which im not a big fan of either, but nonetheless, good effort.

Singey That is certianley far better, but I think that they could perhaps be a fraction larger, and as was said bring Maggie in as she is the second biggest role.
Fast Eddie How long did you spend on that? It certainly isn't anywhere near your best I'm afraid. The background is dull, and uninspired, the renders are average at best, and the text is passable. Nothing about this signature is particularly good, and I'm quite shocked as this is nowhere near the standard I've come to expect from you.
TH14 Too cluttered, the two left hand renders are poorly blended and Jon Locke appears to have an outer glow around him, I doubt it is one but it looks as bad as one. The text is nice but someone lost, I wonder if that was intentional? The border is also hard to discern, still needs tidying up and then it could be quite good.

ThierryHenry14 - I think there is too much going on. Mabye if you tryed to blend in the characters with the background it might improve.

Revert: It's seems a little hard to make out Billy Joel, personally I think that's a good thing, but graphically it's not really. It seems a little too dark at the moment, a bit of work is needed just to finish it off.

Decided no text was suitable.
Thierry you need to work more on the renders, and you could at least drop one of them. Otherwise the layout looks pretty good, but you still need to work on it.
Original I like the style of the sig, it gives the work a very historical atmosphere (or something like that). The only problem is that the colour scheme is very monotonous, there is hardly any contrast anywhere. That's just a matter of taste though.

Abaddon, its not Firefox's problem, 99% sure its imageshacks, Photobucket loads fine and I think the fact im on dial up also has an effect on things. The sig is nice, a little too simple if you ask me but the background is decent and the text suits the sig well.
Original - V2 is great, really well put together and the images you used for the sig are excellent. I think the 'Band of Brothers' text should be slightly more visible, I think if you added a white border round the text and set its opacity between 5-10% then it would be easier to distinguish the outline.

Theres 3 gradient layers. 3 black layers at the sides. about 7 grunge layers between the gradients. And the rest are just effects and masks.

Rossy Boy - Not bad. Everything seems a bit randomly placed, just looks untidy really. Text needs improvement, its very basic and whatevers going on behind the render, it doesn't look good. I think you can do better.

Rossy Boy - Dafont.com, im sure you have been told of, but go there and look at some script fonts, basic fonts, nothing fancy, some people think that fancy huge chunky cool fonts look good in sigs but they really dont. If you get really stuck then i'll give you some names.
Teek - Nice idea, I love the colouring and the patterns, good fonts for both the 'MathieuFlam....' text and the feint handwritten ones too. I cant really say what you need to improve on unless you tell me your ideas for when you get to work on it. ;)

David-Beckham-as it's your first sig you need to improve on the cutting and the choice of pictures e.g frankie's right shoulder is cut off but it's good but the cutting try some tutorials aswell to get you started then do your own things when you feel you can

well this i a good one i think i did it 2day an i hav only started all of this yesterday an i think it is cool also what brushed should i get
thats an improvement but try doing some effects on the renders e.g gaussian blur motion etc.etc and put to either soft light or overlay

There's alot wrong with it and a lot of it is obvious, I'd suggest you have a look at it and sort out the problems you can see, then post it again and I'll comment on it.

Original - I like this new style, the boxes and all different texts work nicely and its a complete change from your usual. The background, lighting, all the text is very good, overall its a very nicely constucted sig. I think the only fault is what you've done with the desaturated Noel under the 'Manchester' text. It seems a bit poor quality considering what you've done to the rest of the sig, its probably an effect but I dont particularly like it. Great work, keep up the new style as I am interested to see what else you come up with.

I love this piece, definitely one of best I have seen recently. I like this sort of style alot, and I think you have pulled it of well. The blue-ish picture of him, I like how you left without the effects, contrasts well with the scan/diagonal lines in the rest of the sig. The effects and picture of the stage are fantastic aswell, colouring and lighting particularly nice. Text on the left and top is superb (the Oasis and xxxx Noel Gallagher parts alot).
All the separate parts are nice aswell (e.g. the white block, then into grey block) constructed to a very good standard, and general layout is impressive. Border fits perfectly, summing up the who sig, Great.

I like it, for me it’s leaps and bounds ahead of your usual grunge signatures but that’s personal preference. All the text is nicely done, fitting perfectly in with the overall theme. The grey and vibrant blue colours really do spice it up, making it a very appealing and eye catching signature.
Rossy you should better start making better posts or I'll ask Barry to ban you.

No it is inspired by his work, which I think is fantastic, this is my attempt to get the general idea of the style, and I'm going to try and develop it more and add something of my own in future attempts. The picture on the leftis from a live show, with some effects, I was particularly pleased with how it turned out as I almost didn't put in it as it didn't look right but I managed to then change it to fit.
Which fonts in particular would you say don't suit if you don't mind? It is nice to take a step in a completely different direction, especially as it appears to have come off judging from the responses. As I say I'm going to try to get this to work to the best of my abilities then I will try and move onto a different style, or perhaps follow your lead in wallpapers, though I've never really been able to make anything particularly good.
I don't like the font you have used in the manchester text it just doesn't look too good to me. Of course, that's just my opinion. ;)

Thanks for the comment, I did use smart blur for the render effects but it was minimal, not noticeable if you ask me as there were a few layers on top. I had to get rid of the JEPG Artifact stuff so that may have also blurred the image up a little.
Simple sig you've got there, nice colours used and the text is very nice too, except it looks a little pixelated, did you set it to smooth? It may just be the font but its nice work, simlpe yet effective.

Original - Its a nice idea what with all the different teams you've included, its well put together with all the divides in between the renders and I think you've executed it well. Text os okay but I think you could improve it.
TH14 - Its not your best, it all seems squashed together (renders, text, badges etc.) and doesnt look that neat. Not too sure about the render effects either, I think you could do better.

The Real Madrid logo is a bitch to fit in, isn’t it? I know I’ve tried with previous signatures. I think the problem with the signature is the colour balance, you have one team with a bright red and the other is plain white. I can’t see a way of implementing the two colour scheme backgrounds without a strong boarder or divider. However I think the signature would look better without the red background, perhaps a neutral colour for the whole of the background?

Iceman I don't like it .. i like the idea and i can see what you're going for but you've not quite pulled it off for me. You've gone too over the top with the brushing above the renders and they aren't blended very well, the font doesnt have much going for it either.

Very nice Original? But make the canvas bigger so that the shadow doesn't get cut off at the bottom. It's a great new style you've started doing, keep with it.

FE - Nice work, its a nice idea, but I agree with Original, the way the render is facing it ought to be on the left with the text on the right. The background is excellent, but Abaddon gets the credit for that, and I think the text suits the sig well.

Also the shot of Turin on the right hand side gives the sig that little bit extra, what with it being colourful and vibrant. Abaddon - Its a nice and simple sig and the render effects are great, the 3 renders are divided nicely with the tilted white lines and the text seems to suit the sig well, although I still think theres room for improvement in that area. I think maybe you should cut out Becks and Ronnie out of their bg's and duplictae them 2 times, leave the background, make the next layer a mosaic with 20px squares, and leave the top layer, then reduce the opacity of the mosaic layer, gives a pixel effect around the renders. Just a thought ;)

Fast Eddie - I pretty much agree with what everyone has said. Move the render to the left and text to the right. The sig doesn't really flow right now. Especially when you are going to make walls (hopefully so) things like this are really important.
Original - Nice layout again, it's the same style as the Oasis signature. You could try out different blending modes instead of photo filters in my opinion.
Abaddon - That's too simple to be honest. Not a good work judging by your standards.

I'm not positive it is your best but it is certainly great, the lighting is very nice and nothing is over powering which I feel is vital in a good wallpaper. The blending of both the render and the ground in the background is fantastic. As is often the case with you I find, the is rather 'busy' with lots going on, but it seems very clean and precise unless you study it which is excellent. The only trouble I have with the wall is the Chelsea badge, while it's not what I'd call bad, it does not live up to the standard you've set yourself in this wall. I'm looking forward to seeing your next piece, just so I can hate you that little bit more! :tongue:

I really like this one, it looks nice and full without too much going on. The Render is blended in nicely, if anything a little too much for me. The text is nice, I like the font, but it's a bit too distorted in this one, I'd move it to the right a little bit in order to make it legible.

Very similar to the Kasabian signature above, but I think I prefer the Kasabian signature even though this one is more graphically impressive. The lighting is quite nice, but it seems a bit too much in terms of contrast. The splashes of blue are a very nice touch and prevent the signature being too monotonous. While the text here is easier to read I don't think it's quite as good. Overall a nice signature though.

Definitely your best that you've posted here. The colours are very nice, the 'splattered paint' sort of style you have going on is very nice, you've worked the lighting nicely, and it really helps blend the render in which looks fantastic by the way. I really like this piece, I'd like to see you work on some bigger canvas to showcase your stuff.
The only note I'd have about your signatures in general is that you seem to just repeat the text from one signature to the next, some variation I think would be nice. All in all though a great profile.

Use this one as the basis, scrap the render because I don't think it's a good choice there, then use the render you used on the right of the top signature as that's the best one, I don't know why you hid it. Then add some effects and blend it in because you failed to do that in either, in both pieces the renders look quite boring. The text needs work, however the background is one of the best I've seen from you. I think the signature would benefit from an improved border.

Right, umm.. To pull this style off correctly you need to have the sig more sharp and clear, looks like you have some sort of brushing above the pictures and weird filter effects. I suggest you just increase the contrast a bit on some pictures and use sharpen edges. Could you send me the PSD.? (It's a good sig I just think it can be a lot better :))

Original?: Just looks like render effects and you've done very well with it. Appears like the light is actualy coming out from the image. The duplicate layer on the left looks a bit out of place. The border and text make it look like a poster. Nice work.
Poff: I like your style, have you got a tutorial for it or could you send me the PSD please. The text looks quite nice although I think it is too prominent. I think if the colours where more red it would blend with the render more.
Sure I could give you the PSD. but the thing is, there won't be many layers on the BG as I did that and then copied the merged thingy and pasted it into that sig. Did that make sense?

Render is the thing that needs work, hair could've been cut better and it doesn't bled. Also I suggest you remove the blur on the text, or scrap it and make a new one.

It's a great effort for your 1st. But theres a few things i dont like about it. The BG would be better without the cloud effect. The effect youve done on the render i really dont like dont go well at all! And what on earth is going on in the top left hand corner. But ive got to say the text is a great choice of text, Goes very nicely. So just change them few bits and you will hava decent WP well done matey ;)

You did it all wrong, just don't spatter it. you need many, MANY layers of spattering. On my SOTW 15 entry, the left arm of Cesc is spattered. That's about 10 layers. And to be honest, the colouring isn't good. It looks grey-ish. Text needs work too. Render is ok. Sorry if I sound like a jerk, I'm just trying to be constructive.

Yeah, the stock image wasn't very good, I couldn't find a high-res picture.
To do that border:
- Create New Layer
- Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to draw the desired size box.
- Edit> Stroke; select the options you'd like. I used Inside, 1px.
- Then reduce the opacity to your desired level.

TH14: Looks good. The render is a little dark in places and I think you should desaturate it a little. The BG is cool, has a nice effect over the image but it's barly visable, I think you should increase the opacity. Not a bad effort overall and if you get the text right it will make the whole thing come together, i'm not good at text atall so I need to be working on it too.
Original: I agree with what TH14 said but it's a very nice sig in general, the only part that I don't like is the white light at the bottom, it' too sharp over his left arm and is blended. Other than that, top class sig again mate.

^ Thats all I see when people post sigs on imageshack, and now I cant even quote people to get the link, just says op_stop(); ;op_start(); where the image should be..... its linked but if I click on it it links to the imageshack homepage
Its in peoples sigs (obviously where an image is) and here in this thread, but doesnt appear on SA or any other sites.

Someone please help me! I made my first ever sig on PS its 400 x 100 and less than 19kb but it doesn't show when I post. I have ticked the show sig box but it doesn't help. Thanx in advance. BTW its my first and nowhere near the quality of the sigs here.

Rossy Boy the render needs work, too much blur and it needs some more effects, other than that its ok but seems like a copy of someone elses sig I cant quite remember, I think it was Revert.

Teek - The Ronaldinho sig is great, colours are excellent and the background is different to many bg's you see today in sigs, the text is simple yet effective, I think the only thing that needs some improvement is the render its a little too dark towards the bottom but other than that its a really nice sig.

Singey As I said on MSN, if you improved the render I'd consider it to be your best piece.
timfen It's good, the colouring and lighting are nice, I'd start again with the text though. Try going for something a little more simple.
Teekay I love the Dinho signature, the colouring is sublime and the blending in the background is fantastic. I'm not quite so sure about the render as the rest but it's yet another fantastic effort from you.
As for the wall, it looks very professional, and I think that is high praise, it certainly wouldn't look out of place on his website.

Thanks for the comments Original, my computer crashed yesterday though and I never saved the file properly I only saved it for web to get feedback.
So I will need to go back to the drawing board to design a new sig if I am going to change anything.

Singey - The Gerrard sig is probably your best. The bg is well done and has a lot of different effects on it and the text is nice. The right lightning and the render could have been done better, but it's still a very good sig from you.
Original - Nice layout and the text is classy. A good signature indeed. A different style from you also :)
Timfen - Brushing in front of the left render looks out of place. Fix that first. Also you could have some more render effects.

Its alright, I like the guitars blended into the background. The text fits the sig too. I'm not a fan of that size of sig though, I consider that huge. The BG is alright, but nothing special. Lighting and depth aren't really there. Try blending one side of the render into the BG, then have the other side un blended, as if he is coming out of the sig, and make the transition smooth :)

they're too small, the top one looks stupid with his head just there. Make a bigger signature it'll give you more to do. Theyre good though don't get me wrong

Meh, I prefer the smaller canvas.
I've noticed that near enough everyone here likes to use a really huge canvas, almost always around 550*250. I know it's just preference, but in my opinion it makes a sig look a lot less professional.

It's all starting to get tedious and look the same as the rest, do something new! explore new styles rather than stick to what you feel comfortable with, it's far from professional to stick with the same thing and not try and be original.

If you ask me, 500x200 is the ideal size for a sig, its the size I use and it seems to be big enough, 550x250 is too big if you ask me.
Original - I like your style, dark, grungey, render is good and well placed, background is excellent as usual, text needs to be a bit more visible, maybe the same opacity but in white, im not sure, but good, solid sig.

Cheers, it's nice to know what people who don't do graphics think of them as well.
Lovely blending there, and a nice theme too. It's well carried out, but the sig isn't a very striking one. The problem with dark sigs is that it's hard to make something in there that really stands out.

Very Nice Poffe, The brushing works well and so does the background what actually is in it :tongue:, also like the way you have made his fist glow.
Poffe thats some nice wallpaperin' going down there, I think the text should be a bit more visible but the render and background are of a high standard, keep it up.

Quick guide to renders by Teekay:
1. Cut the render.
2. Make a duplicate and put it on lighten
3. Make a duplicate and put it on soft light
4. Make a duplicate and put it on linear light
5. Make a duplicate and put it on linear dodge
6. Greyscale the linear layers
I'm not going to reveal more about my technique, but that should help some of you guys.
