I got hold of Photoshop last night, installed it this morning and got cracking on a few sigs about 2 hours ago. Now I know they are crap in comparison to these professional ones, but hey I've had 2 hours experience.
Would like "constructive criticism" and tips, point me in the right direction. And make sure you explain everything as I am still getting to grips with the whole layout of PS7.
I need help on text the most, I can't really seem to do much with it, such as add borders etc, so help would be appreciated. And rotating individual pictures and such, how do I do that?
This post is very n00b-ish and I feel ashamed to post it but I think I need a push in the right direction. Cheers :D

For constructive critique I can say that you need to work on:
-The cutting.
-The text.
But even I have to do that, well everyone really but just keep working and trying, don't expect to be doing top class sigs until for a couple of months, it's really hard. I've had it for a few months now and even I can't make that good sigs. But I'm improving all the time and so will you.
So just keep trying and trying, no one can really tell you how to improve, it just comes with time. :)

@deki yes the badge is bad , beceause i got a problem with photoshop when i use elliptical marquee tool for cutting or fill it with a colour a glow comes around i dont know how to fix.

No I used, Gradients, Lighting Effects (Mainly Omni) and blending options.

no one seems to truely think outside the box with sigs. I like a huge majority of the work in here it's fantastic but nothing really jumps out and makes me say wow now that is something I haven't seen before..........

I don't think the render suits the BG at all really. You make the most creative backrounds but the positioning of the render or quality of it lets it down sometimes.

-Teekay- A nice signature indeed, thirty minutes? Bloody hell I spend over half that on cutting alone. I like the background a lot, and the text behind the render is good. I'm not so sure about the main text, it's ok but not up to scratch with the rest of the signature. By the way, there's a bit in the middle that looks rather ugly. ;)
Suggestion: Should we set out some guidelines for ratings signatures, 3 - Fairly below average, 5 - Average (Good but nothing spectacular), 7 - Good quality signature (Has something special about it) etc.

You should get it, or your sigs will never be quite as good as the other people, use Limewire to find it

For me, I paste it into a new window (the render) then right click on the blue bar at the top of the window, then I think its something like change proportions, then change it to the size of pixels you want. You can choose to do Hieght or width and it should keep in proportion.
Or.
You could use free transform, and if you hold down shift it should stay correct when you change it. (I think)

a little cluttered man, the background could use some work, and put the text in front of the pattern.
Teekay: Very good Kanye sig man, again you impress. One of your best but I agree with 'ze others with your Torres sig being better. One of the attractions to your work here is the colour used, a nice soft turqoise tone is smooth and helps the render not only blend but stand out which is hard to achieve. Well done, keep it up.
Tezzer: 1st sig: Very good for a first, but the brushing and the badge stand out a little too much to an extent, taking away from the render. The background idea was good too but lacks a tad bit of depth. The cutting of the render looks decent and can't be faulted really, the text is okay but could be improved. The colour scheme is nice and fitting, for a 1st its very good.
2nd sig: Don't use 'Outer Glow' on the renders, doesn't really help it to blend in. This looks as if its got a more artistic attitude towards it which is good I must say, if you lower the opacity of the Pattern then it would look better in my opinion, also as Preki mentioned place the text over the Pattern. The colours used are quite nice and well picked, and overall its decent for a 2nd sig, theres room for improvement but none the less you've done very well. Keep it up.
I dont think the gold at the bottom left is needed, great sig, though i prefer the first one.
For this latest shit, I thought I'd try a different style with it being a completely different type of render. I probably prefer V1 more myself but I just want your opinions blah blah blah:

I tried to knock up something yesterday for like three hours, but I just couldn't come up with anything I liked. But today it just made sense. I often seem to get ideas when I'm in my bed listening to music, just letting the thoughts flow.

The tomb raider one is pretty good, but it's nothing special. The background is quite nice but the text is quite poor I think. The japanese drawing style one is very nice it's simple in appearance but I expect it took a more than a little work to get that effect, and I hope you're pleased with it because I think you've done it very well.

I dont know all the render talk and all that, but theres something about this Baggio signature that I really like. It might be the nice colour of blue mized with the white, and I like the font used aswell. Still not as good as my Galas signature, tho :tongue:

As I said before it's your best sig. What I like the most is the render, works very well, and the effects are really top class. The bg is nice and abstract. The patterns are a nice touch too. The only thing I can bitch about is the text, I don't like the font too much, but that's a matter of taste. But to me less is more when it comes to text. And text is always a hard part, just try out different fonts colours and sizes to see which suits the sig best.
To me it seems like you can handle the basics well enough. Maybe it's time to advance to the next level, and let the imagination flow. Just play around and combine the skills you have I'm happy to see that you already have a kind of your own style. Good luck ;)
How to you get the patterns on the sigs? I only get the brush textures etc.
Just download some pattern packs from deviant art, and extract to patterns folder. Then use layer->new fill layer to apply a pattern

I took a picture of the aurora boraelis, messed with it for a bit because I liked the picture, in fact I want to go see the northen lights but that's beside the point. As for your sig I really do like the idea you've gone for but unfortunately I think it looks just a bit too crowded and almost messy. I imagine you put a lot of effort in and I think you deserved better, I, imagine you've just tried to do too much work. I also think the main render is rather lost and small.

May I suggest next time you have nothing to do at 1 in the morning you knock up a quick green sig with Mickey Evans in it, you say that one was quick but I think its quality so I'd just like to see a decent looking Argyle sig rather than my daft attempts in Photo shop.

Pretty much said it all here, but I have some things to add.
I'm not to keen on the yellow colour on the BG, it's to dark, make it a little lighter, and as Mr O? said work on the text and the render and you've got yourself a class sig. :)
