New sig, again used brushes to create a nifty background. But as you'll see the cutting is very poor. If anyone could give me a few hints, or give me a link to a good tutorial it'd be apprecitated :).

Hey you have made great progress mate! Especially the Kaka sig has style. I think you have the most important thing to be a good graphics artists, you know what looks good.
When you learn how to make your ideas even better, you will become a great sig maker. Just be ready to make a lot of mistakes and bad sigs to get there :tongue: (I know it from experience!)
For cutting, I use the pen tool. It's simply to best way (at least to me) to cut renders. Go to good-tutorials.com and search for a pen tool tut, I'm sure you will find a good tutorial to start with.
In many of my sigs I don't even cut the render, I just brush or put layers over it.

Its ok, and she is quite fit, but that render, its not the best image you could get of her. She looks pretty ugly threre.
It isnt really about the fitness of the pic it is shirley about the quality of the graphic? Obviously a good render is always useful but I mean actual render and not topic, it seems to me that some people judge signatures on topic rather than on actual graphic which poses a problem in SOTW.

I feel that this could mess up SOTW because instead of voting for the best looking graphic, the most popular topic will be chosen instead.
No no no, you've got me wrong there Greenegg, i've never voted a sig because I like whatever or whoever its on best, all I was saying there was that the image he chose might not have been the best one but it still is a good sig. Its just my opinion, it wont affect the way I vote.
That is an amazing sig Singey! I love the text and the BG, and the render is sweet too, yet again, there's nothing really i can say bad about it. Do you use tut's ? If so what ones ? as i love your sig styles.... :cool:.
No I dont, I do sometimes look around for some PSP tuts but I can very rarely find any, plus the layout between PSP and PS is a lot different by the looks of things, so I cant even use them to help me either! To be honest looking at other peoples work on Soccer-Art inspires me the most, as some of the sig makers over there are quite amazing!

EDIT: Does anyone else think the maximum sig size for signatures should be increased. For me 450 x 100 is way to small, you just can't create a good sig with that. 450 x 150, sounds more suitable to me. Agree? Dont agree?

Danvid: Realy like that, the animation is exelently put together. Maybe you could have added some more to the actual signature instead of putting all the effort into the animation.
Shopper: I like that, well put together. Maybe you could have mixed around with other pictures, or maybe rezied them and made it more un-cluttered.

Sorry Mercer you probably think thats aimed at you, but ive just found out how to view imageshack sigs that dont come up on firefox. :D
Anyway your sig, I like it, I think that black background with all the brushing and what not is very classy. But maybe you should have not brushed over that second render to the right, but just lower its opacity to about 10 or 15.
The first render is class though, thats one of your nicest sigs in a while. The text lets it down a little though.
Right lads, I really cant decide which one of these looks best, they are for Sotw, so some feedback would be nice as to which you prefer...

V3 in my opinion. Its got carmen electra who looks good in V1 and its got the good text from V2 so i would go with the 3rd one. This will be a front runner for SOTW3 i reckon.

I like V1 the best, V3 looks a bit empty since you removed the icon. V1 is great! Nice work still on V3.

Version 3 is certainly the best. You still need to blur the edges of the render into the background a little more, and on the right hand side add some light brushing, something more rounded and faded so that it doesn't detract from the text and I think you'll have an excellent signature.

It's nice, I'd try putting the Scum badge behind the render though. Maybe angle it slightly as well and switch sides with the text, I'd also move the 'A new beginning?' text closer to the 'Patrick Vieira' text. Good work, you've got some excellent styles and ideas, the more you work with it the better you'll get, I can see you becoming very good at this!

And to be honest that criticism is forced really, I hate saying that theres nothing wrong with a sig because ive never known one to be perfect, but its not far off ;).

Sorry, but I'm not really a fan. The background doesnt fit really, just doesnt look good IMO. The rest of the sigs decent though. But the background ruins it for me.

Singey: Good work once again on that Veron sig. The brushing behind him is very nice, and it's hard to criticise it. Maybe the pattern on the far right side isnt to my liking, but that's just personal.
Original: Maybe a bit too much of the rainy effect on the render itself, it's a good sig nontheless. The text is good, so is the render. The bright color red is nice.

A bit like my "The Game" signature, with the rectangles. I liked this idea since i've noticed Poffeman uses it. I tryed something different with the background with a new brush and using some of the filters on the brushing.
Comments would be nice. I would like to know what would make it better.

Anyway, I prefer V2, I like both, mainly because they are the same, but V2 is a little more lively and you can see the brushing details more now that its lighter. Excellent work.

Yea, he is a legend, never get tired of him. If I was part of the Elite i'd have the gif as my avatar where he's shouting, unfortunatley im not so I just had to have a screenshot of him. I am thinking about that elite status though...

Poffeman : Nice, I like your sig. Its a different idea which works well. Even though its simple, its quite effective. I dont know how to criticise it to be honest! The only thing i would look to improve could be the font because it looks a bit basic.

RO5592, the image in the middle sticks out like a sore thumb, the texts aren't very good either. The right hand side is pretty decent though,and the background is maybe a bit too simple but nice.

I like that, it works well, but it dosen't actually look nice, its too heavy. But I do still like it and the noise goes well with the Render. Good work.

singey and cracky, your sigs are both great. Singey the use and look of the border is awesome. Cracky I like the font you used, it works perfectly but I personally wouldn't have added a mild glow to henry.
Abaddon you should use the mr and mrs smith sig. It's really unique shape-wise and the render has made the colours really vibrant.
And thierry the colours in your sig also stand out well. Good stuff people!

You're certainly improving now, keep trying different styles now to broaden your abilities. For this signature I'd add a new border, make it darker so that it will be more visible. I'd also drop the 'The Game' text down a little.

killerkey - Looking good so far, like other mentions it might be a bit plain but you have plenty of time to work on that. I'd maybe make the film title slightly larger.

The image you created is the diagonal line right? Well, create a new raster layer, then go to the styles box on the left hand side where the gradient toolbar is, select the arrow and choose 'Pattern', click on the dropdown adn there you should see a pattern filled with diagonal lines named 'image2' or whatever your pattern is called, but if you've just made it, it will be somthing like that. Choose that, fill it in with the flood fill tool and set the layer properties to 'Multiply, this will get rid of the white and leave you with your finished pattern, its up to you as to what opacity you use.

Thanks! I think my sig works well because its almost as if the person is just about to be hit by the train, reaching out for help in the last seconds, and I didnt really mean for it to be like that but it came out well.
Your sig, I like it, its very simple but effective, and the text seems perfect for the theme adn I think the feint light in the bg really does work wonders for the piece, great work.

Edited it a bit, added some scanlines, west ham logo, done some brushing, changed the text colours a bit, and added the forever blowing bubbles chant underneath the green street text.

Killerkey thats much better than the original, the brushing seems to have worked well and the chant text added on the right seems to have put the sig right, if I were you i'd take the scan lines off the clothing of whoever it is beating up the other bloke on the right hand side.

I like this mate, it is very simple but it does what it should and it isnt overcrowded.

Excellent use of colour, and the hand seems to make the signature have depth which is nice. The text is very simplistic, but suits very well and anything more complicated may be too much. Very nice, another solid signature and another great entry for signature of the week, this week's competition looks to be very tough.

Brushing and all that is good, but it's not very creative. Instead of just cutting out pieces, wich makes it look like made in paint, cut out the BG around spiderman so it looks like he's coming out of the sig instead.
And why not start commenting on other peoples work?

Scanlines are always useful to give a signature a fuller appearance even if they're very faint. Also I would flip the arrow and shift it to the left so that it isn't pointed directly at her arse. It's still a nice signature though.

It's not bad, but there's certain room for improvement. Firstly it's very rare, and I mean very rare that I'd recommend brushing over the face of the render. I think the red blood splatters are apt, but I'd recommend putting it about the edges and keeping it mainly off the render. I'd also change the text so it's horizontal along the bottom, maybe add some further text such as 'Quentin Taratino presents' or some such. Keep it up.

The lighting is lovely, it gives off great effects. Font suits it nicely. One thing I don't like is the birds in the sky. Don't know if you drew them or if the were originally in the render, but they don't look right for some reason. Nice piece overall.

Cheers, I agree about the birds I couldn't get them to look right but was hoping that they'd look ok after they went through numerous lighting changes, trust me they looked worse before! I put them in with a brush as I did with the clouds and the water, there technically isn't a render. The Brush were taken from real pictures but the clouds and water were seperate.

I was going too do it with the Montana one but I forgot how to get the gif into the sig :blush:
And version 2 is better but the gif looks randomly placed...maybe move it more central in the right bit.

Abaddon, i really like that. I like the idea of the badge around the GIF, it looks proffesional. Yet again, great render work. I like the text and the BG, nothing bad about it, great work!

and i have now officaly sorted out my photoshop, and i will like to be alowd in the sotw competitions. and to proove ive created the sigs whatever i enter with i will send a screen shot of it on my photoshop, with my sig onit and plus the layers being shown.

The only way you maybe aloud into the SOTW competition is to produce a sig, then host the PSD.

The BG shouldn't be going over the render or the badge. The BG itself seems to have a bit to much going on for me too. Other than that a solid sig.
Killerkey V1 is my favourite, now that you've sorted out the tram lines its much better and a real contender.

I am certainly no expert at sigs but the red line going across the middle doesn`t look right.
Other than that superb.
I think it's incredible some of the stuff you lot can do.

The render is over-blurred and doesn't seem to be blended very well, especially considering the amount of blur. The background and colours are very nice as always, and the text is rather nicely done position wise but I don't like the font it's a little too simplistic.

Its a bit too in your face if you know what I mean, the colours are too saturated, so desaturate the bg just a tad. Other than that, its nice.

People would give you constructive criticism and try and help you out, but after what you have done no one wants to help you out and I don't understand why your so bothered about entering SOTW, do you really expect that to get any votes?
And Singey, I know the bg's for the Ronaldinho and Shevchenko are to full and have so much going on, I was just trying something new and I don't really like them either, they only took about 5 minutes to do em both ;)

Killerkey the BG is great but maybe it should not go over the render and the the text is good too, nice work! Also the Ronnie one is great but make the render more visable, maybe it's just me, still there both very good, nice work.

Abaddon Thats a very nice sig, superb render work and lighting there, text is very basic but works well, that '4's opacity ought to be lower. and itself should be bigger, and possibly tilted.

Killerkey, Your BG are always unique, I like them alot but the render looks too distorted. The text and the bage look great.

Killerkey Nice work again, you seem to be over using that text but I dont blame you it is nicem maybe lower its opacity and instead of having the Madrid badge in the corner, place it above the text, make it bigger, tilt it, and lower its opacity to 15 or 20, so its slightly visible. Good work!
TH14 Is it me or is that sig really small? Good work but the logos seem to be placed a bit too randomly. And get rid of that bg pattern that goes over TH and the Arsenal badge, looks a bit dodgey. Good work nevertheless. You're getting better.
