You can effect the shots you take with any player, L1 does a long lob, R1 a short lob and R2 performs a controlled shot.

If you're talking about the new game then you really should mention the name of the game in the title of the thread and in the first post. Only very few people on here are playing the new game so posting like you have does not make things clear.

Do explain the shot you are talking about.

You have to run parrallel to goal and strike with the persons stronger foot whilst holding l1 and it does a shot with a load of curl

The shot itself is rather useless.

The trick to actually score with it is to make sure to aim towards the corner you are moving away from, since if you run "down" the display along the penalty box and shot this shot to the goal on the right, while still holding down on the pad, the shot will almost always go wide outside the right post (as seen from the player shooting). So it is almost always necessary to aim up if you are running down the screen. That will put the shot fairly in the middle of the goal.

Sullivan pretty much nailed it. It's like the trademark right footed curlers you see Henry and Pires do for Arsenal. Running from left touchline directly towards right touchline across the box then hitting outrageous curling shots into the corners.

L1+Shoot whilst running in direction of player's stronger foot. The move is hard-coded and only a few can do it:

Henry
Pires
Rooney
Del Piero (Is the only known player who can do it with both feet)

These are the ones I know, there may be and probably is more.

The ball doesn't actually curve much at all, though. It just spins really fast, if that's the curl that I'm supposed to be looking for. Neat little thing, though. It's gone in all the time I've tried it.

Right, so in PES5 you hold L1 for this shot that only a few players can pull off and you hold R2 if you want to use the controlled shot.

Well, basically yeah.

For the L1 Curl Shot, you need to hold L1 before and while you are pressing the shot button.

For the R2 Control Shot, you need to press R2 while the shot guage is being filled, or has been filled. You will not get a Control Shot if you hold R2 before and while you are powering up the shot, only if you press it once while the shot bar is displayed.



Also, I discovered that Schuster (Classic Player, Germany I think) can do the L1 curl shot.

The big penalty box line, so that your player has his weaker foot and side of his body towards goal.
