Im on about my fifth or sixth master league season. It took me that long to get into the first division. But now I am there I am doing quite well but I don't have many players. I am playing five star and all of the transfer settings are on their maximum star setting also, which is probably my downfall.

GK David James (Risky I know)

CB Lavisse (Trained up from year four)
CB Vornander (Trusty fella, my captain)
RB Hibbert (Nifty purchase in year three)
LB Unsworth (Signed after Edingson refused contract renewal)

DM Turner (Trained up from year three)
OM Van Gogh (Trained up from year two)
LM Ximelez (Cant seem to buy one, not even Ethrington!)
RM Dunn (Snatched from Man City in year three, great buy)

LS Piliniak (Trained from year one. Dependable)
RS Defoe (Rotting away at West Ham so i bought him)

I also have the veteran Les Ferdinand on the bench and a few of the original cast such as Espimas, Burchet, Macco, Ostwaut, Nachdecal, and Kelsen.

I am trying to secure better players a.s.a.p, strenght in depth is my policy. As for game strategy, I play everything on centre attack, including attacking runs and semi-manual strategies. I like to have players running in behind the defense when it gets tight. The wings normally take care of themselves if you keep possession, somebody always pops up there anyway in space to whip in a cross. If anyone has a better way of getting strikers to play centrally as a pose to them running off to the bottom right and left hand corners please let me know.

Fair play to you Piliniak, I should think its much more satisfying playing that way.

I only bought the game Thursday, so I'm just starting out in Master League. My intention is to recreate the Charlton team, but I've only signed Shaun Bartlett so far.

Glad to hear you're doing well in div 1. It must have made you a better player doing it without superstars.

You could say that yeah, but it was bloody frustrating getting there. The thing I like the most is that I got promoted eventually, then my first season in the first division I won two games, drew one then won one again. So you can imagine I thought I was top quality....but low and behold I have lost two and drawn three since, and I have been lucky to scrape some last minute equalisers.

Honestly, the ups, the downs, I have been jumping round my room celebrating, then throwing punches at random objects because I conceded stupid goals. This game really does rock and it brings out the footballing feelings within us all.

Anyway, back to ML teams....

I have four controllers - 2 broken after throwing them at a wall
One after losing the division 1 cup in my first season in division one

And last week when i lost to celtic in division one cup again - second season in tdiv 1 - i tried to punch my boxing bag and hit the wall next to it, i bruised my thumb and still have a cut there

Have been playing pes only gingerly since just yesterday- it put me out of action :(

Never get mad! its only a game

Ive learnt my lesson :( loool

seems everyone has roughly the same kind of teams, id never play with hardest transfer settings

i think mine are
Computer will carry out transfers (not actively)
Computer will also accept players of a somewhat low ability
and
Computer will consider its own position before accepting a transfer
had to struggle to get these players, i had to wait a season before trying to get henry again, i eventually did a trade with crespo

Yes, the manual says that the game ends if:

a) You drop beloww -10k at any point

b) You have fewer than zero points at the end of the season.
(This is my first season; I would presume that like PES2, you get bonus points at the end of the season and the cut off point for game over is after you've received these bonuses.)

c) You have fewer than 16 players in your squad.

Very funny post about knackering all your controllers (and your hand). I don't know if your're old enough to remember Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the Spectrum, but I must have caned four or five kempston joysticks on that game!

My Record on Master League so far is played 6, lost 3 drawn 3 and I'm out of the cup. Still, I'm sure I'll improve.

I'm 6 games into my master league (3*) and I've won 1, lost 1 and drawn 4. I also have only scored 1 goal and only let 1 in. That's the league, in the cup I'm out first round. At home I drew 0-0 with Fulham, and away I got beaten 1-0. Sounds really exciting, no?

Edit: I haven't bought any players yet, so I'll blame the dumbass team for the lack of goals. In a national team league I'm playing as Scotland and sit top of the table, as well as the scorers table.

That's the funny thing about it, with the original cast of wannabe's you either have to shut up shop and hope for a lucky goal or go all out attack and pray not to concede on the break, strikingly realistic for a lower league team I would say.

Although frustrating when you start getting better players and winning more games it is a great sense of satisfaction all the hard work you have put in.

I am in my second season (started again) i am on 5* and i have won 3, drawn 4, lost 2 so i think it is all fair in football you win some, you lose some. I have also broke 1 controller. Throwing one at my brother cause he beat me and started teasing me, i hit him in the face he has got a cut there now he needed stitches. Then we had a fight and he hit me twice in the nose so i smacked him in the mouth and quickly grabbed the telephone and clattered him over the head and he started bleeding rapidly(went to hospital). He is 14 and i am 13 so it teaches him not to f**k wit' me.

I've always played Pro Evo this way. I realise that it's probably not playing the game in the way it is supposed to be played (i.e building up a team of superstars) but why would I want a load of players who I shout abuse at week in week out (well at least I did until our little hiccup last season ;) ) playing for my beloved team? I can't think of anything worse than seeing Viera, Van Nistelrooy etc in a West Ham shirt!

Also makes the game a lot harder!

I think its best to leave big name players at their real clubs. Where's the satisfaction i beating Man Utd if Van Nistelroy is sitting on your bench or Keane is your defensive midfielder? Same goes for Owen, Henry etc..

I also have Carlos, Canavaro and Almeyda but I've also been really pleased with Mostovoi as he has great free kick and curling abilities, always use him for corners and vary between him and Carlos for freekicks. A bit slow though so no good on a wing for big crosses..

Roy keane is an excellent DMF...

Does anyone else find that if they dont like a player they dont buy him??

What i mean is if u hated for example Shevchenko or Henry... two of the best striker in PES3.. wouldn't buy them??

Coz i have found that... Viera is a player that has good enough stats to make my team but i will never like him because i hate him...

I totally agree Dave. Except for me it is more the other way round, if I like a player in real life I buy him ion the game, even if he is crap. Main example is McManaman, pretty useless in Pro Evo (and real life nowadays?!) but was straight into my team.

I agree backdoor, being a Spurs fan I won't buy Henry although he is a great player!
I have Robbie Keane and Carr in my team even though they don't have great stats!
I have bought other class players though, like Zidane, Carlos, Shevchenko etc.. just NOT Arsenal players!!! The players you like from the team you support make for good backup when you need to rest star players.

You all seem to largely neglect the classic players. After much play testing, it is my opinion that the ultimate 5*ML team should be a customized attacking 3-5-2.

I agree with oyu in getting cash for jersey sales, I hope PES4 would have it.

Doesn't need to be so detailed, just at every half-season, ML team should receive cash for sales of jerseys, balls, sponsors (why doesn't PES 3 have this?), fines for players, and especially, ticket sales for the enormous crowd turning up for each CL match you contest in.

Yeah it would be cool but actually I meant it as a joke/cynical comment. I mean that economically, we all know that Jorge Valdano is just buying players that can sell more shirts, even though Real are DESPERATE for a decent defender.
When your first objective as a football team owner is to make money, and not to win, then you are, in my opinion, full of fucking shit.

and back to our subject - having that option in the game would seriously mean that you will have nothing to lose by buying the best players and paying loads for them. Aside from that - who will determine the amount of "stardom" for each player?
Then again - about the crowds, fines for players and etc. - I totally agree.

Imagine seeing your ticket sales 100 times more than the Div 2 team's, and the number of jerseys high-soaring over the other clubs in the sales table.

What you say about the nothing to lose thing, it isn't true. If you aren't a good or great peforming club, the fans wouldn't buy many.

If you're buying a player to invest in jersey sales, and he doesn't sell anything, it's a loss, and that's exciting, whether you lose or gain in shirt sales.

I have an idea, put your most expensive players in the line-up, and view how much salary you pay at the end of the game. Then go with the players you pay them less, and view the salary.

I've scooped up every Korean and Japanese player of worth. They are a fantastic deal! I was surprised to see I'm the only one who posted with this many Japanese and Korean players. I only saw one guy with Hattori. These guys are great, they all have around 100 salary and will take long term contracts. You can pay 5x's as much for a European with lower stats. I quickly replaced all my default players with them as soon as possible.

I've won the Div1 cup twice, Div1 league once, and am currently leading Div1 and the WEFA Championship (but again only on 3*).

In WE7 Piliniak is a growth player, is that how he is in PES?

Currently I have 91,719 pts. Mabey I need to spend some of it?

God you're a cheapskate. GO AND SPEND!!!
Remember that the bonuses for finishing 1st are 10,000 PES, and you also get money for the cup and wefa champs.
I honestly (and I know a lot will differ) think that in order to go up to 4 and eventually 5* level you first have to have an edge, I.E. get better players, you will kick some ass and then when you start winning 4-1, 3-0 move it up to 4*, and after that 5*. It's a different game from 3*. Give it a go.

I am playing with the Current Barca squad + Riquelme, who should return from loan next season. I wish they made the game harder tho.

an interesting way to make the game harder, at least in terms of results needed not gameplay, is to buy up all the retired stars that nobody is using, and stick them in your reserves. Maradona, Stoichkov, Romario etc. these strikers demand big salaries so that when you have 7-10 of them sitting on your bench you will pay more salary than you can earn in one game. then you have to achieve the level of success a big club would demand to break even and keep your squad. I suppose you could just pay everyone double what they demand and get the same result. I really am running out of challenges, sigh...

You should play Minanda or Ostwaut instead of Barota. Also, try Macco on the right, he plays better than his stats show. And trust me Edingson is better than Nachdecal.
In order to get Reyes I had to trade Minanda and in order to get Coridon who I just bought I had to trade Ostwaut. I'll play Macco on the wing and re-arrange my squad... and put Lee Woon-Jae in goal :)

that's from memory. can't remember the bench. i just deleted that team to make room on my memory card for pes 4. After about 3 seasons on 5 star pes 3, teams start to look ridiculously good,especially if you make use of free transfers. Trade transferring players like oswault also helped to make the team better quicker.

I was thinking of trying 6*, after beating Valencia 6-0 away and some other team 8-0 at home, but I'm slipping up a lot e.g. losing 1-0 at home to Real Sociedad, and I am only 1st by goal difference (about +40 :D ). i have just started a new season with an original team. i called them Harchester United ( a lot of you will know where this is from ). i play on 6-star and i am 3rd in div.2 after about 2 games lol.this is my team.

GK: Peneteau - doesn't improve mega quick but v.reliable

DF: R.Perez - in a word, stunning.
DF: Martin Cranie - better than you can imagine!
DF: Dagaka - complete full back.

DMF: Muntari - nice all rounder.
DMF: Makoun - workhorse, always there with a tackle.
RMF: Cardarson - best right sided mid i can find. fact.
LMF: Claudio Lopez - get him young, he's amazing.
OMF: Jol Matinjo - only just got him but young and v. promising.

FW: Bojinov - just buy the guy, you'll see why.
FW: Djibril Cisse - fast as... nice shot too. bad aerially tho.

2011 on 5* with all the best teams in europe in my divison. I won the league 2 seasons ago but was rubbish last year and came 4th so I'm out for revenge. The trouble is Real Madrid win practically every game they play except from the ones against me. I have tons of points but I don't want to buy the usual stars so I'm struggling to improve my squad. adu seems to be imporving very well for me, after just a season and a bit recommend him, he will be shit when u first get him, but give him time

You probably won't have heard of many of the defenders, because they originally didn't belong to a club, but I am training them up good and proper.
Oh and by the way, my Fabregas is utter brilliant! :rolleyes: - Best player in the team if you look at the stats average on Development Sheet - 87!

I'm starting my 3rd season now, on 5*. Just qualified for the WEFA Championships (qualifiers) after finishing 5th in the league.

I've indicated all the players i bought just now with a **.
That's been my additions to the squad this summer ;)

Saying that, Kezman was top scorer last season, and Oliveira was overall best player in the Div1 cup. :o

I started at the second division and now its my third season i have won everyting(except the WEFA masters cup).

With a strike force of ronnie and rrrronaldo, a simple through pass by ronnie will just lead to a goal, of cos with ronaldo pin point accurate shooting.

Defence is strong also with big and quick Kompany and all rounded Marquez.

In the midfield, Xavi can launch super accurate long passes to Martins or C.Ronaldo for them to dribble inside the box to score or cross to Ronaldo to score.

Van der Vaart is very gd in long range shots too.

Perfect team for me. I always trash opponents every match with greatest win to be 9-0 vs real betis. I play in 6* of course. :D
