Sky One are doing this, which their results will be revealed in a 2 hour special at the start of the season.

What i'll do is when i get quite a number of people's votes i'll stick the 10 most popular in a vote, obviously as i can't get 50 players in one poll.

Right now, this is how the poll stands, but on Insight you could change that.;)

Everyone can pick no more than '2' players.

Yeah this whole 'Most Fouled Player' - I wonder how many of these were actually fouls and not him falling over. He lets himself down on this

This is tough having only to choose 2 but mine are:

Henry & Bergkamp.

Zola, Cantona & Schemichel are all deserved but I don't think as much as the above two.

P.S. I'm NOT an Arsenal fan. :D

True, mate. Id say that about 0.2% are actual fouls, the rest is diving ;)

martin_cranie
02-05-2006, 15:18
Bergkamp and Henry.

Zola and Cantona in particular deserve a mention but they don't match the class of the above two. Schmeichel and Vieira were excellent too.

There are a bunch of quality players, but I reckon that Bergkamp and Zola are the greatest foreigners ever in the Premiership!

They kinda changed the way people play in the Premiership nowadays!

True, he had potential at leeds but them days are well behind him now. Although some Liverpool fans will disagree on recent form but he is still far from the player at Leeds.

Hmmm...Zola and Henry but Schmeichal and Cantona get a mention. Do other UK countries count or is it just England?

How many goals did Zola score for Chelsea?

59... or similar. But obviously, he wasn't a goal-scorer.

What about George Weah ? Niemi ? Asprilla ? That Italian grey haired striker Middlesbor had (cant remember his name) Laudrup, Gullitt ?

That list has missed so many out

Sweey
02-05-2006, 18:41
George Weah didn't perform in England though as he was already declining in his career, aided by "I want to manage in England because I'm brilliant" Alberto Zaccheroni (who is a joke) as he wanted to use him as a winger.

And the name you forget is that of Fabrizio Ravanelli.

Dragonfly
02-05-2006, 18:44
Denis Bergkamp and (2nd choice is a tough one) Peter Schmeichel.

I also noticed Roy Keane wasn't there. Doesn't Republic of Ireland count as foreign (ROI isn't part of Britain is it?).

Huw
02-05-2006, 18:47
Ive just thought of another - Stan Lazaridis !!!!!

Seriously though that list is just concentrating too much on players of today rather than thinking back 5+ years.

Thuanks Sweey - Ravanelli was the man I was thinking of. He wasnt that good here but he was better than half of those in that list

Joel
02-05-2006, 18:52
I'll go for Zola and Bergkamp.

Schmeichel was a rock. Pretty much the reason why Utd were so successful throughout the 90s.

As for Bergkamp. He pretty much brought creativity to the English game.
