Lupe Fiasco - Hurt Me Soul
"For the icin', glamorized drug dealin' was appealin'
But the block club kept it from in front of our buildin'
Gangsta rap-based filmings, became the buildin' blocks
For children with leakin' ceilings catchin' drippins with pots,
Coupled with compositions from Pac, Nas's "It Was Written"
In the mix with my realities and feelings,
Living conditions, religion, ignorant wisdom and artistic vision
I began to jot, tap the world and listen, it drop."

Easily one of the best rap artists to emerge in the last decade.

Indeed he is. Ever listen to Big L Hunter? I see and hear a similarity
Indeed he is. Ever listen to Big L Hunter? I see and hear a similarity
Love Big L, I'd easily put him up there as one of the greatest.
As for the comparison, I honestly don't see a big one, except Big L was incredibly talented as is Lupe, that and they're both underated. It's maybe because Big L's style is far too hardcore and raw, whilst Lupe's is more deep and meaningful.
"I jumped out the Lincoln, left him stinkin',
Put his brains in the street
Now you can see what he was just thinkin'."
:w00t
Well, thats what I was trying to get at, the fact that they are very talented but so underrated. Lupe is straight up in my top 5 rappers and thats because I like to say he's in my generation of music, whilst Biggie and Pac werent.
I hope he carries on the whole 'Cool' thing in his next album.

Oh I know what you mean, you definetely feel more of a connection with artists from your own generation. However when a lot of them are underwhelming, it's easy to revert back to some older music and appreciate the brilliance also produced back then.
I still don't fully understand what happened in the whole story of The Cool from his last album, think I'll give it a read later on actually.

Favourite song out of that album is "He Say She Say". Have you seen the video Hunter?
I would have a difficult time saying what my favourite song is, it seems to change a lot. At the moment though, I'd definetely have to say "Hurt Me Soul".
As for the video for "He Say She Say", I haven't seen it yet, in fact I didn't even know he released one. I've thought he'd only released videos for:
