Sky Sports :

Glenn Roeder has been granted special dispensation from the Premier League to become the next manager of Newcastle United if the club wish to do so.

Newcastle had previously been told that they would not be allowed to appoint Roeder, unless fellow Premiership clubs agreed to this request, as he has yet to acquire the required Pro-Licence.

It has now become apparent that this request has been granted by Newcastle's Premiership counterparts, with Roeder favourite to be appointed on Monday.

"Should we wish to appoint Glenn Roeder as our next manager it is nice to know we have the support of fellow clubs, and I'd like to thank them and the Premier League for their understanding,'' chairman Freddy Shepherd told the club's official website.

"Contrary to inaccurate newspaper reports that appeared last week saying the situation was in danger of turning into a farce, or was heading for disarray, the whole process has been handled very professionally - and amicably - from start to finish.

"We have enjoyed a positive end to the season and the staff, players and fans of Newcastle United can all look forward to the prospect of European football again next season.

"We also have Alan Shearer's big testimonial game to look forward to on Thursday night before those players not involved with the World Cup can go away for the summer and recharge their batteries.

"We will make an announcement on the manegerial postion at Newcsatle United for next season at a press confrence on monday".

Not sure about Roeder! Got West Ham relegated with a decent side. With that surly face of his as well.

Once again we have been lied too....

"Our aim is to have the new management structure in place before the last ball of the season is kicked. We don't want to have uncertainty lingering on through the close season and we want supporters and players to finish the season knowing who will be in charge in August. We have taken our time because this is one of the biggest decisions in the history of the club . The top clubs are opening up a huge gap between themselves and others and we need to get the right man to ensure we are one of those leading clubs. We have had a host of top names declaring their interest but we have kept them secret. When the time is right - and that isn't too far away - we will name the man to lead us into the future" Freddie Shepherd, 2nd April 2006

I hate the FA. How am I meant to make money?

I had £200 on Tony Craig to become the new manager, at a reasonable price - considering he's the only one who's actually allowed to manage a top-flight club. And what do the FA do? Bend me over, pull down my dungarees, and insert a Phillips-head screwdriver sideways through my place of no sunshine.

The moral of the story? I hate the FA.

I thought it was Tommy Craig?

Anyway, Roeder would have completed the badge were if not for the tumour (was it that?) that stopped whilst he was on the course. With that in mind, he's deserves this.
