Ballack, Lampard, Essien, Makelele, Gudjonsen. How many more midfielders do you want?
Mourinho = shit manager. Anyone on this forum could buy players such as Eto'o, Shevchenko and Ballack.
None of his signings have exactly been good, although some may argue Drogshit has done well.
SWP = No England place, a regular bencher.
Drogba = £24 million? But he has made the most impact compared to the rest I suppose.
Essien = What has he done and £24 million? Not seen him play a good game since December
Del Horno = They are playing a CB, Gallas, at LB. Shows the class of Del Horno. He is also transfer listed I believe.
Kezman = 4 goals in 25 apps. Simply breathtaking.
I don't remember/know who else Mourinho has signed though. Hopefully Ballack will be joining that list.
Put Ballack's arrogance next to Mourinho's and you're going to have one awful dressing room.
I think its the wrong move for Ballack, but we'll soon see how it goes.
Gudjonsen I hear is to be leaving, aswell as Duff.
Yep, Gudjohnsen to the Toon! I can see Essien going.

What do you think the price would be to sign him, mate? Id guess around 8m
About that yes...didnt have the best season last time round but id take him...
Ballack is one of the few players who can improve Chelski, and he's off there to win thing's which he has more of a chance doing than at Man Yoo, and he's superior to Lampard in almost every department

Do you expect to see a midfield of Ballack Makelele Lampard or Ballack Essien Lampard?
It is quite obvious that Lampard would never be dropped, but I'd prefer to see Makelele dropped since he is the lynchpin of their midfield - I'm hoping his absence would leave the defence more exposed. This has been proven when Chelsea faced Blackburn though. He is probably the best in his position.

Mourinho said the three players who will leave are Del Horno, SWP and Crespo from what I've heard.
-----------Drogba
Robben----------------- Cole
-------------Lampard
------Ballack
-----------Makelele
I think it shape up like that.
I forgot about Del Horno, he has been shite, maybe thats why he's on the transferlist ;)

FC Porto
European Cup 2004
Uefa Cup 2003
Portuguese league champions 2003, 04
Portuguese cup 2003
Chelsea
FA Premier League 2005, 06
He also coached Barcelona, with Bobby Robson as manager, when they won the Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup in 1997.
As for the players, I don't ever recall Del Horno playing at centre back with Gallas as left back. As for Del Horno being transfer listed, what is your source?
I would say Essien has been a good signing, as he has seemingly cemented his place in José Mourinho's side, starting the majority of the league games since his debut. He got an assist in his full debut against West Bromwich Albion, and he replaced the injured Claude Makélélé in the defensive midfield role against Sunderland in the 2-0 win on September 10, 2005. The midfield of Chelsea looks to have been strengthened by the powerful, athletic Essien, who could well form the Chelsea midfield with Frank Lampard for the next five or more years.
Didier Drogba's first season was interrupted when he pulled a stomach muscle against Liverpool, which kept him out of action for over two months. Despite this he enjoyed the second best goals-to-minutes ratio in the Premier League, prolific Frenchman Thierry Henry being the only player to better him in this respect. He scored 16 goals in 40 games for Chelsea in his first season. In his second season at the club Chelsea went on to win the league title with two games to play. Ultimately, he finished the 2005/6 season as the top assister in the Premier League, according to Actim Stats.

I meant to say he is shit in the transfer market, and I didn't say Del Horno was playing at centre-back.
I said they are playing Gallas at LB (who is actually a CB). Del Horno is a LB and if he was so good as every one claims he is, then surely he would've been playing LB instead of Gallas? As for Del Horno leaving, I saw it in the Sun or the Mirror I think.
Yes I am aware that Drogba is top assister in the Premiership, but he doesn't live up to his £24 million price tag.

Your a bit wrong for a start as Kezman was bought by Raneiri. Also, Del Horno was injured when Gallas was playing there you tit. If you think Morinho is a shit manager, what is Arsehole Wenger then?
Then Again, Franny Jeffers was shit hot as well wasnt he.........

Kezman was brought in by Mourinho actually. Robben and Cech were brought in by Ranieri.
I think Viperized corrected himself saying:

I won't say he is shit in the transfer market, but he hasn't brought in anyone that has made our team a whole lot better. But hopefully Ballack and a new striker (preferably Shevchenko) will change that.

No disputing Ballack's a good player, i just hope he fits in well. What's with all this we have two many midfielders lark? we have Makelele, Lampard, Essien, Gudjohnsen and Ballack in the middle, that's 5 competing for 3 places, and 4 winger's, Cole, Duff, SWP and Robben for 2 places. I'd hardly say that's too many, especially when it's rare to have everyone 100% fit.
Ballack is not on par with Lampard these days, Bayern have only gone downhill with him ;) He used to be a huge prospect, but I haven't seen him produce miracles in the last few years. he was class when he played for Leverkusen though.
Mourinho is a fantastic manager, but making transfers isn't his best ability, as he is still quite an inexperienced coach.

Ballack is not on par with Lampard these days
That may well be true, but we don't need another Lampard, i still feel we need a replacement for Zola and Hasselbaink, someone who can create, and someone who can bag 15+ goals a season.

Drogba can get 15+ goals a season, as can Lampard. When on form, Robben can be our Zola, but obviously Zola is almost irreplaceable.
Ballack is in the country!

Read my previous post about the shit manager part. I meant to say crap in the transfer market. His signings haven't been as good as everyone expects them to be. And it was Mourinho who signed Kezman, not Reineri. He was signed during the 04/05 season in the summer of 2004 when Mourinho was manager.
I know there were a few games this season where Del Horno was availible but Mourinho opted for Gallas. Surely if Mourinho thought Del Horno was good enough he would've played him instead of Gallas at LB?

Show me the money Mr. Ballack.
He'll be wiping his ass with £20 notes if the reports of how much he's been offered a week are true.

He’s one of my favourite players and I think he’ll do really well. Sad to see him choose Chelsea, but I think he’ll be a great addition for our league. Can see him outscoring Lampard providing he gets as many games as Frank.

He's got the number 13. Wonder where that leaves Gallas???
He's an outstanding player but an utter expletive.
I just wonder how the midfield is gonna look as I can't imagine he and Lampard playing together as they are very alike (only one isn't quite such a tosser)
Hard to imagine either being left out of the side or rotated so its going to be a very attacking lineup most probably, how well it will work remains to be seen but has the potential to be lethal.

He is on a free transfer and is getting a massive amount of money but he is not the only one benifiting, there are alot of Chelsea players there ATM that have it in there contracts that if someone signs and is getting more money than them then there money automatically goes up on par with the highest earner at the club. The club and Abramovic are losing a massive amount of money every week as there wage bill is just too high, lets hope he sticks around as if he walks anytime then the club could go bust.
BTW, Ballack is now officially yere best player.

So true. In fact, I believe many players would join Chelsea mainly for the money.
I remember Martins saying he would love to join Chelsea, because they are the biggest club in England. What a moron.

What about when Sol Campbell joined Arsenal?
Michael Ballack has finally revealed the difficult choice he had to make when choosing Chelsea over United.
Manchester United came in quite early for me," said Ballack on Sky Sports News. "But really I saw the possibilities of Chelsea being much greater.
"They are a stronger team and also London has its attractions, particularly as a family man, I have got my family.
"In the final analysis, Chelsea's aims for the coming years attracted me."
So nothing to do with the wages being twice as much then...

Nope, envious more than anything.
As for the Sol Campbell comment, well that was a complete one-off and you know it. We desperately needed a centre-back with Adams gone and it was important we got Sol; who at the time was the best centre-back in the prem.
First of all, we don't know if the style of play fits him. 2nd of all, he has had his peak and from now on it's downhill with some peaks.
That doesn't change the fact that he is a very good player though.

Zidane proved his worth till he was 32/33. Although Ballack isnt to that level, he is still pretty good as you say, so the signs are promising. As is the fact it is only a 3 year deal.

i read that hes on £130'000 a week, we know hes a good player but theres no way he is thatgood,
makalele, essien, lampard, cole, swp, robben, duff, jarosik, ballack - thats just selfish, arsenal wanted essien so chelsea splashed out way more than they could, same as swp and now they have missed out on a lot of football, is it me or does everyone think chelsea are taking the piss

£130k a week is a fucking joke, he is the highest paid player in the world. chelsea go over the top. i feel sorry for the likes of gallas, he has been chelsea's best defender along with terry and he is not one of chelsea's highest earning players and then along comes ballack and he gets £130k a week.

What? You are giving us gooner's a bad name, son. Do you know anything about football?
Winning back-to-back titles is not easy. I'll be the first to admit they have possibly the best manager in Europe, the best central defender, and now the best midfield.

I believe his point was that pre-Abramovich none of these players gave a toss about Chelsea; suddenly they have money and pay astronomical wages and players are interested. It's disgusting.
Jonny, he's a great footballer who I've always tried to model my game on, but he's certainly not at the point in his career where he should be earning 130k a week.

Would it be disgusting if it was you being offered these wages? Players only work for 10-15 years, then retire to nothing. They are basically earning their lifes living in that time instead of dragging it out to 60 years like us common folk
Stella Artois
16-05-2006, 13:40
The average football earns 13k a week which equates to around £700,000 a year. So if they worked for 5 years, they could retire quite comfortably for the rest of their lives.
Yes, that is disgusting.
They don't retire to "nothing". There's plenty they can do - they're just too lazy to do it.
Fair point Captain, but the highest paid footballer in the EPL? That's astronomical, and not in any way justifiable other than to scare off other clubs that wanted him.
Ballack sees potential, I think he sees cash. He's undisputably the best German footballer today, and deserves the praise he gets but 130k?
It's quite simple. a big club is after a big player who happens to be a free transfer. Let's say Arsenal is after Trezeguet, then you can bet your life that Chelsea will be interested.

Chelsea are not the biggest club in England but they are currently the best club in England.
There is a difference in being the biggest club and the best club.
