Opdan is a Dutch centre back.

I like Dindane, and I think he'll have a good World Cup alongside Drogba, but he proved while he was in Kallum and Rafa's team, he's not a vote winner. He barely even received any praise. Guisseppe Rossi is a great prospect for Man Utd, and highly rated in England. He's looked like a great talent whenever he's been in their team, and should get a lot more games next season, and should feature a lot in pre-season. He's more likely to grab votes, than Dindane.

Mhm, I can see how many English would rate him highly/higher. But I'd have to prefer someone like Dindane who has truely proven himself.

Because he is a amazing talent and he will play at lot more games this season(as reyes said)

NAKATA FORCED TO RETIRE, NEW FACE IN FC CALI SOON ?

http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/4823/nakata6fvxz3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Hidetoshi Nakata has retired at the age of just 29. Nakata begain his proffesional career in 1995 and won the Asia Football Confederation player of the year award in 1997 and 1998, the Schudetto with A.S Roma in 2001, played for Japan in three FIFA World Cup Finals ( 1998. 2002, 2006 ) and played in the Olympics twice. He will always be considered as one of the most decorative players to come from Japan. FC Cali's manager Martin O' Neill said earlier today in the press-conference "Nakata's retirement is a shock. He was just 29 years of age but cut short of his career early. He will always be remembered as one of the most decorative players to step out of Japan. This was his first season at FC Cali and he done very well during that process. I am most certainly not ruling out a replacement, and if we do get one, it will be quick". So you will have to wonder who Martin O' Neill is going to place a bid in for ? It looks very interesting and promising for the FC Cali fans.

Their was some rumours flying around that FC Cali's goalkeeper - Tomas Kuszcak could be on his way, and them rumours were proven' true last night at 7:30pm....

http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/4567/kuszczak9gzpc5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Tomas Kusczak has left FC Cali for Alizee Lyonnais in a swap deal involving Alizee's goalkeeper - Oliver Kahn and £2million. The fans were not very pleased with Martin O' Neill until they found out who was coming to FC Cali.....

http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/9049/oliverkahnwm20062thumbqe7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Oliver Kahn has joined FC Cali from the swap deal involving Tomas Kuszcak. Kahn said earlier today in the press-conference "I am very pleased to sign for FC Cali, they have a great manager and a great team. I am looking forward to moving there when the Transfer Window opens". A Journalist approuched Martin O' Neill earlier today and O' Neil had some things to say about the deal. "Oliver is a very experienced player, and this is just what we needed. I feel that Oliver will work very hard in training and work well with the tactics set. No-one said it will be easy for Kahn, as he has Stefan Klos challenging him for that number 1 spot. Tomas Kuszcak was wanted by a few clubs before he left....and FC Cali could not deal with the pressure. I wish him all the very best at Alizee Lyonnais and im sure his performances will be critical".

After days of moving to Alizee Lyonnais, Costinha has now moved to FC Cali on Loan in exchange for the two million from the Kuszcak - Kahn deal moving to Le Guen's side. I am very glad with this deal, and there's no doubt that once the loan is over, I will try and sign him on a perminant". FC Cali fans all across the globe cannot wait until the season starts - seeing some great players coming into FC Cali.

Latest transfer news from FC Cali

Johan Djourou has left FC Cali in a swap deal involving Ricardo Rocha joining the Norfolk club. A fan - Bob Matthews from Norwich was interviewed in the FC Cali express and he had to say this "Djourou was a great prospect for the future. But as I have always said - Youngsters don't win you medals! I am happy with the deal and I am sure a lot of FC Cali fans feel the same way".

Guiseppe Rossi has been loaned out to Offside Athletic in exchange for experienced left midfielder Pavel Nedved, also on loan. The loan move has been rumoured to involve a possible permanant move at the end of the season. Fan's have a mixed reaction from this swap loan deal, some say Martin O' Neill had fell out with the young Italian striker, some others say it's a good move - due to more experience.

Jason De Vos arrived at FC Cali the other night. Shortly after however, he was released and told that he would not get a first team place.

Stephan Klos - The experienced veteran has been released from manager Martin O' Neill, as Martin said that he doesn't need another goalie at this time.

Rumours have been spreading around that manager Martin O' Neill will leave shortly, due to having managed two clubs - at the same time.

Alan Pardew had to say this in the press conference, earlier today " I will try my hardest at FC Cali. Give 100%, you know what I mean? I am going to waste NO time, and this club IS going to get promotion this season!"

FC CALI EXPRESS INFO - INTERVIEWS TO COME SOON!!!
FC Cali express has today made a new page. This new page will have interviews with the players. These interviews will then be printed in the paper, and shown to FC Cali fans worldwide. The first interview, is apparently going to be for new loan boy "Pavel Nedved".

NEW MANAGER WASTES LITTLE TIME!!!

http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/2527/7214appiahyv6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
New FC Cali manager Alan Pardew has wasted little time in the transfer market - As he quickly signs Stephan Appiah for £9 million. Stephan Appiah (Left), born December 24, 1980 is a Ghanaian football player. He is 1.78 meters tall and weighs 77 kilograms. He signed from Offside Athletic. He has previously played for Accra Hearts of Oak (1995-97), Udinese (1997 - 2000), Parma (2000-02), Brescia (2002-03), Juventus (2003-05) and Offside Athletic (2005-06). A member of the Ghana team, he was the most outstanding player in its 2004 Olympics squad. As captain of Ghana's senior national team, he led the team to their first ever FIFA World Cup qualification. He has managed 43 caps and scored 11 goals, as of June 2006.

At junior level, he finished fourth with the team in the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship and was a quarterfinalist in the same level 1999 championship.

Appiah was awarded Best Goal of the Champions League Group Stage by the UEFA in 2005. The goal can be viewed here (http://www.antu.com/naklenx/2005-2006/fener_schalke/fener3schalke3.mpg).

On 22 June 2006, Appiah was named as Man of the Match in Ghana's World Cup match victory against the USA in which he also scored a penalty in the 2nd minute of first half stoppage time. The win saw him captain the Black Stars through to the last 16 phase of the World Cup where they eventually lost to Brazil. His performance in this years World Cup has gained him many fans, particular Manchester United supporters. With many transfer targets either priced out or whos deals have collapsed see him aswell as his International team mate Sulley Ali Muntari as ideal signings for the United midfield as both their names are very frequently posted with desire on the club websites message board.

Last night a deal was confirmed that sees Yakubu aka The Yak join FC Cali from Rafa FC on a season long loan for three million, with an option of permanant at the end of the FSL. Pardew is certainly stregthining his side since he was imployed. The Stephan Appiah deal has been recently delayed because of price issues. Aparently Appiah's price wasn't £16 million....this has yet to be confirmed. FC Cali fans are exited about the new season and they cannot wait until the next game.

Interview with New FC Cali players Louis Saha and Costinha

FC Cali magazine writer: Louis, you have dropped down 2 leagues to play here at FC Cali, what are your targets to achieve here ?

Louis Saha: Well, the obvious one which is too score goals and help the team to Promotion. It's a good team and hopefully I can gel into FC Cali's style of play. I am really looking forward to playing my first game, after Fixture 9. Costinha told me it was a great place, so he hasn't made me feel upset about leaving Olympique Alizee.

FC Cali magazing writer: Thanks Louis. Costinha, you have been at FC Cali since the start of the season on loan, and have performed well, what do you think of the place and the team ?

Costinha: It's a great team. I really love playing here. We have some vital experience in Nedved, myself, Traianos Dellas, and some great up and coming stars of tommorow such as Rossi and Samir Nasri.

FC Cali magazine Writer: For the last question, and I want you both to answer it if you can. Stephan Appiah's displays this season have been brilliant, FC Cali fans will be upset to see him leave, what are your views on this ?

Louis Saha: Yes, Appiah has performed brilliant this season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him performing brilliantly for Olympique Alizee. A player like him really helps a squad. He was are captain. Alan Pardew payed a lot of money for him. He will be missed.

Costinha: Completely agree with Louis. Hopefully I can play just as good as Appiah had been, even better. He is going to do well at Alizee. But we do have cover for him. Ofcourse fans will miss him, he was the Captain. But hopefully whoever Alan chooses as the next Captain, can do just as much as Stephan done for us.

FC Cali magazine Interview with Assistant Manager Alan Curbishley:

FC Cali magazine writer: Alan, FC Cali have been on a bad spell as of late, any reasons for this?

Alan Curbishley: Well, you know, every team goes on a bad spell atleast once in a season. Hopefully when Saha gets here he can sort it out for us, as I admit, we are in a bit of trouble at the moment. 3rd place, dropped 3 points last match. Im sure that sooner rather then later the team will be back on form again.

FC Cali magazine writer: The Transfer window re-opens this Friday, any targets to sign?

Alan Curbishley: Every team must have a target to sign, and one player on top of their shortlist. We have a few players in mind, due to Regiuro and Appiah's departures. We are in search of a Midfielder and possibly a Centre Back. We do have a few names jotted down, and ofcourse Pardew or I will have to contact the respectible players manager.

FC Cali magazine writer: So, do you think that you still have a shot at winning promotion?

Alan Curbishley: Oh absoloutely. We're only about 3 points from the top. The team's morale is high, and we all have the winning promotion spirit. I and the Manager are very confident of promotion.

FC Cali magazine writer: Thanks, Alan. Next week's interview will be with FC Cali Center Back Ricardo Rocha!

Big news shocks FC Cali fans:

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/5012/gerardhoullierhh9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Gerard Houllier has joined as FC Cali's manager after a shock sacking of Alan Pardew. Houllier said he is relishing this opportunaty and cannot wait to take charge of FC Cali for the next game. There was huge speculation that he might join Alizee Lyonnais again, but obviously this move has put an end to that Rumour. Houllier also hasn't wasted much time in the Transfer side of things as Stephan Appiah, Jermaine Defoe and Hamit Altintop will all leave shortly, whilst Rodrigo Taddei, Louis Saha, Costinha and 6 million to help the financial funds have been confirmed. Fans of FC Cali are ecstatic about the news of the new manager, although confused about Pardew's departure. Houllier surely will be one of the most active managers in the Transfer Window.

One of Gerard Houllier's first signings. Just grabbed him under OJ's nose. Gonzalo Gerardo Higuaín (born December 10, 1987 in Brest, Finistère, France) is a Franco-Argentine footballer. Who signed today for FC Cali for an undisclosed fee, approximately at 8:00pm. His key position is a striker, although he can play as a SMF. Definately one of the stars of the future, key clubs AC Milan, SS Lazio, Manchester United and Chelsea were after the youngster. Higuaín said he is pleased to have agreed terms with FC Cali, and he doesn't expect to just walk into the starting line-up, and he is ready for a challenge and set to shine. New FC Cali manager Gerard Houllier said "Ve are very pleased to have er signed Gonzalo. In my er opinion he is one of the stars of the er future, and has the potential to be the best in the World".

Leroy Lita today has signed a contract with FC Cali. The former Reading striker cannot wait for his first league game, he said this earlier in the Press Conference "I seriously cannot wait for my First Game for this well-supported club. This team in my opinion, has the ability to win the League this season, and hopefully I can assist to some of that".

Gael Givet has very recently signed for FC Cali after negiotations with Alizee Lyonnais. It's pretty obvious that Houllier likes collecting the Players from Lyon, and who knows, this may not be the last player he tries to get off of Lyon? He has played for the French National Team 12 times, and was called up for the 2006 World Cup. Houllier thinks that because of Center Back Traianos Dellas age, he needs to get a center back in who has a bit more pace and is just as good. FC Cali fans seem to agree with Houllier, and even some going as far as chanting "Houllier will get FC Cali into Division 2". Obviously not for this one signing, but for various other ones. We have yet to talk to Givet, but when we do, be sure to catch it in the official FC Cali magazine!.

The Best striker in the World?

Today news shocked all of the Footballing world as Gerard Houllier came to terms with OJ's Didier Drogba. Drogba has signed today for FC Cali, in a deal which see's promising Gonzalo Higuain go the opposite direction, carrying 10million with him. Houllier says "Well, this is undoubtably the biggest transfer in FC Cali's history. Chairman Cali is overwhelmed with the signing, and thinks that I have done a great job." We managed to talk to Cali too about his thoughts "5 words is all I have to say. Call this the Houllier Era." FC Cali fan Brian Haywood spoke earlier today with FC Cali magazine and said "Didier Drogba is the best Striker in the World full stop. This is an amazing signing. Houllier and Cali have done really well to get this type of player to join. I and other FC Cali fans cannot wait to see him in action!". No doubt, that when the FC Cali shirts with 'Drogba 9' on, there will be a load of people buying that FC Cali shirt. Didier Drogba said "I really hope I can play aswell as I have been playing for OJ. I do believe that Houllier has done an excellent job as manager. He is one of my idols. I have made good Friends with Niko Kovac and Samir Nasri at the moment, and I hope to get on great with the rest of the squad. The main reason I joined was because it is such a well supported club, on it's way up to D2." Now with all of that amazing news, FC Cali have also signed former Sevilla Left back Ivica Dragutinovic, whilst releasing a series of FC Cali originals, Barry Opdam, Paul Konchesky and Lee Bowyer.

FC Cali bring home Peace Cup

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/9645/worldbaseballclassictrorn1.gif (http://imageshack.us)

FC Cali have beaten MBV Arkestra in the Peace Cup Final after Extra Time. Gerard Houllier and his team are supposedly extremely happy with their success. FC Cali Captain Bernd Schneider said after the game before he lifted up the cup that "I am really happy for the rest of the team and the fans. We've had a tough time in the last few matches and I think we deserve this".

Gerard Houllier speaks on the Peace Cup Final win, recent run of form, Niko Kovac and Transfer Targets

http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/1949/239240730861317238sx7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

In a recent press conference with FC Cali manager Gerard Houllier, he revealed many truths and many rumours in possibly his most in-depth press conference ever. Houllier was asked about the Peace Cup Final and he answered as expected with a big grin on his face. He said "I am really happy for the Player's. As Bernd said, they and the fans deserve this. It's been a real tough season in Division 3 with loads of ups and downs. And I'm exited about this team and I have a funny feeling that you have definately not seen all of FC Cali's potential yet." Then Houllier was asked about FC Cali's recent run of form, "Our recent run of Form has not been the best by all means. Drawing with PEM and Sullivan were slip ups, as I thought we could of won them. But, we are still in the promotion places and we just need to win our next game to put more pressure on the above teams" Houllier said.

Then an FC Cali programme writer asked Houllier "When Niko plays, it's like a different side. I do think that he is one of the most valuable players at FC Cali, what are your thoughts on him and why do you think you opted to play another Midfielder instead ?", Houllier answered in confidence with "Well, Niko is a great player and I do like seeing him play. He can pass the ball and is a great Defensive Midfielder. Looking back, I do realise that I maybe had made some mistakes by not playing Kovac as much as he would of liked to, but we can't turn back time and be sure to see Niko playing more regurlary". Then, the final question was asked by a general FC Cali fan "Who will you be trying to get in the Transfer Window, Gerard ?" He answered with "I'm afraid I cannot tell you that *Laughs*. But what I can tell you is that their will definately be some players joining come the next Transfer window".

I am currently thinking about a deal, and at the moment I cannot make up my mind. This is obviously expected as Drogba can walk into any team in the whole world". Drogba has also spoken on the matter, and has recently said "I love it here at FC Cali at the moment. And if we gain promotion then I would be more then happy to stay. I don't mind where I am playing Football at the moment, as I am enjoying it too the full extent".

Luca had a superb time last season, scoring 14 goals all-in-all, which see's him sharing the golden boot with Dutch Striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He hasn't ruled out a move to FC Cali, as in a recent interview when asked by FC Cali Programme Writer George Matthews, "Luca, it would be great having you down here. Veteran Goalkeeper Wears Armband Next Season

http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/7937/oliverkahnii3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
After just saving one of his many saved Penalties, Oliver finds it in himself to Celebrate

After the surprising departure of former team Captain Bernd Schneider, FC Cali's manager Gerard Houlliér was looking for a player who he feels can do the job of being FC Cali's captain. He finally came to the decision today that experienced Goal-keeper Oliver Kahn deserves to wear the prestigous Captain's armband. Houlliér said today that "Oliver was definately one of the main reason's why we were promoted last season. He was as solid as a rock, and I know he can do the job as he did when he played for Bayern Munich. He will be a great team captain. I've no doubt's".

Kahn, 38, joined FC Cali for an undisclosed fee in mid - 2005. He was pushed out of the side by Mexicain goal-keeper Oswaldo Sanchez at first, but trained well and basically stormed into FC Cali's side. Since that day, he hasn't missed a game. Kahn is reported to be delighted with this decision.

In the following days, FC Cali's squad number's and their vice and second vice captain's will be announced.

Benitez Confims Deal For Italian Goal-Machine

Luca Toni - The Italian ace will be playing at FC Cali next Season

After weeks of negotatian's and many offer's turned down for the Italian Ace Luca Toni, Benitez finally had an offer accepted. This offer, will unfortunately see new star Morten Gamst Pedersen heading in the opposite direction, along with rock-solid central defender Cris and also new signing, Fredi Kanouté. Houlliér said this "To get such Football Player's like Luca's talent, you have to make risk's. You have to most of the time, get rid of some of your best player's to get that one player you are interested in. Toni, is a new era at FC Cali. I said this sort of thing when Drogba signed, but with no offence to Drogba as he's an amazing player, Luca is I feel, a better striker". Luca Toni isn't the only player who has signed, as the Flying Frenchman Steed Malbranque has also put pen to paper on an 4 Year deal.

Luca Toni has commented on this recently as he was unvailed to the Press. He said "As I recently said, I am enjoying Football at the moment. I'm glad to be here just as much as the next man, unless the next man is someone that isn't glad to be here*. I hope I can continue my form and show the FC Cali fans that I am here, and I am here to stay."

Thomas Kuszczak stops an Arsenal penalty taken by Gilberto Silva

The first of Five big name signing's have today been revealed. Polish Goalkeeper Thomas Kuszczak makes his return to FC Cali after less then a season away, as he is bought back for a fee of £4 million. The Shot Stopper had this to say recently when interviewed, "FC Cali is the place where I started in this League. It has came a fair way since then, gaining Promotion and winning the D3 Peace Cup. It had many supporters when it started off, and nowaday's it is one of the more interested clubs around the globe, and also has many follower's. It has really came far since it started off, and this club looks to be going places, and I wan't to be here when it does". Thomas, seems happy on joining, although may not get a regular starting place...

http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/4219/davidjamesun9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
David James, revealed as the second big name signing for FC Cali

The second brand new signing has been revealed. David James will be playing for FC Cali this season, and surely will be there first choice, as this buy means that German Veteran Goalkeeping Legend Oliver Kahn has gone the other way. Oliver was named the brand new FC Cali captain for this up-coming season, but Gerard obviously had a re-think. Gerard recently said, "Oliver was great. He was one of the main reasons why we got promoted last season. He will be missed. I was looking at David James performance's last season, and he really did catch my eye. I have been wanting to sign him since the end of the season, as I was going to release Oswaldo Sanchez (Who, is may I add, now replaced with the boots of Thomas Kuszczak). David James is one of the hardest goalkeeper's to get past in this league, and he will be very good for us, I am sure". James has also commented on this transfer, he said "It's great. I had my fair share of First Team Football last season, but now I am hoping to get it week-in week-out. This club, as Thomas Kuszczak said, is going places and I wan't to also be here when that happen's". FC Cali fans around the globe are apparently happy with the progress in terms of Transfer's this season.

Transfer Round-Up

http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/3784/pizarrojq1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Peru striker Claudio Pizarro - Will be playing for FC Cali next season....

Lately, Gerard Houlliér and chairman Cali have been very busy re-building the Squad. We got a chance to talk to FC Cali's chairman for the first time ever - Cali. He said, when asked "The fans have heard a lot of rumours about Luca Toni leaving, even though he just signed. Are these rumours true ?", "Well, let's just say, that I have lately realized that we cannot just rely on one player if we wan't sucess. We (By that he ment Him and Houlliér) need to re-build the squad, and make the squad depth much, much better". He proved this as later on on that night, Luca Toni departed with FC Cali. We didn't get a chance to have a word with Toni beforehand, which is a massive shame. Very shortly after Toni had left, after not even playing one competitive Football Match for Houlliér's side, we heard that the team had signed 28 year old Peru striker Claudio Pizarro on a permanent. Also, that wasn't it. We have also signed Wonderkid Yannick Djalo on a full season loan. We also got a lot of cash from the deal. Reported to be around £23 million. So, Toni's departure surely cannot be too bad, after-all ?

Of course, Houlliér and Cali didn't stop there. No, shortly after they signed Brazilian Left Back/Left Midfielder Fabio Aurelio for £7.5 million. They were also reported to be strongly linked with Porteguese Central defender Ze Castro, and that was put to rest as the classy 24 year old signed on a permanent from LSA Originale. Then, a few days afterwards, we heard that Turkish attack minded Midfielder had gone on loan to Rambo's side, which see's experienced Spaniard [I]Michael Salgado come the other way. Still, Houlliér insisted that he hadn't finished his spending yet. That, was proven as the same day he said that, he signed Yossi Benayoun on loan until the end of the season, with an option of a permanent move. That deal also see's Brazilian Youngster Carlos Alberto move the other way. Also, FC Cali managed to get £5m and future prospect Curtis Davies off of Real Verdada, in a deal which see's Luis Garcia head in the opposite direction. Denny Landzaat also signed, for £3m. Then shortly after, which was seemed to be Houlliér and Cali's last signings, they signed Nikola Zigic and Julio Arca, reported to be at around £10m.

From Speculation, to more Speculation...

The back-four is yet to be fully named, although we do know however, that Ze Castro and Fabio Aurelio will feature in this match from the start.

Match Report:

FC Cali kicked off the game rather poorly. As Norway United's striker Miroslav Klose had two easy chances in the first 10 minutes, which he should of placed in the back of the net. Shortly after, after James punched away an in-swinging corner, Maniche hit it on the volley only for the FC Cali keeper to make a wonderful save.

The first goal came around the 35th minute mark. As Gary Neville played a wonderful ball to Matthew Taylor, who then followed with a deep cross for Miroslav Klose, who got his head to the ball, no chance for James, as he picked the ball out of the back of the net. Just after that chance, Schneider, who left FC Cali in the Summer, had a long-ranged shot that stung the hands of David James.

FC Cali got their first chance of the half around the 44th minute mark, with Wayne Rooney driving forward and threading a through ball to Claudio Pizarro, who struck it just over. The Half time whistle wen't, with FC Cali behind.

The second half started rather like the first, with Norway United rather dominating posession. Around the 62nd minute mark, FC Cali had another chance, as Fabio Aurelio had a free-kick. It hit the wall, only to drop to Yossi Benayoun, who used his skill to get past Taylor, and to get a shot in. Saved. Then, FC Cali scored a goal after about 68 minutes, after a great corner by Benayoun as Ibanez got his head to the ball, it rebounded off of Serbian Nemanja Vidic, as his fellow country man Nikola Zigic slotted home a half volley strike, just after 8 minutes of being on the field.

After this goal, FC Cali seemed to maintain a bit more possesion, although in all honestly, it was a midfield battle kind of match. The final whistle wen't, as the FC Cali side and Houllier wen't in surely the happier team. FC Cali were impressive on the counter attack today, although Norway United had the most possesion.

FC Cali: James; Salgado (Davies 85), Ibanez, Ze Castro, Aurelio; Benayoun, Landzaat, Costinha, Nedved; Rooney, Pizarro (Zigic 60)

Preview:

Antonio Luis Jimenez, the summer signing from LSA Originale? is set to start the game in an FC Cali shirt for the first time this season. Big things are expected from this Chilian player, who is only 23. Before he played for LSA Originale?, he played for recent Serie A winners, Internazionale (Aka, Inter Milan). Also, promising Brazilian Centre back Felipe is expected to start, alongside Ze Castro. Therefore, taking Pablo Ibanez' place.

The forward pair isn't going to be changed according to Houllier. Argentinian left back Julio Arca has a chance to play, although nothing's confirmed yet. A Goalkeeper switch could also happen, with Polish stopped Thomas Kuszczak coming in for English veteran David James. This match will be a tough game for FC Cali, although Houllier is hoping for early season three points.

Preview:

Rumour's from FC Cali's training camp have been spreading round all week about whether Claudio Pizarro would be fit for Friday's game. Houlliér, today announced that Pizarro will be on the bench. French hot prospect Karim Benzema is supposedly starting the match, after looking impressive in training this past week. Houlliér, has spoken on the matter, and he said, "Karim has been impressive since I bought him here. This week though, he's just had this thing about him... just a new level of sharpness, and a new eye for goal. Karim has been saying all week that he really want's to play in this upcoming fixture, so I have decided to start him and I am sure he will not fail to impress.

Also, the centre of midfield is set to stay the same, with Landzaat and Costinha in the middle. Benayoun could replace Jimenez, as he recently came back from a knock he picked up in training. Rooney is playing, I can bet money on that. Same as solid centre back Ze Castro, although it's not certain who his centre back partner will be, even though Felipe seemingly has made the role his after his recent impressive performances. It should be a tough game for FC Cali, as should every game this season in D2, but Gerard Houlliér and his team fear no-one, that's for certain.

Match Report:

Lorenzinho kicked off this match with full confidence. They had a chance in the first 2 minutes of the match, with Robinho crossing the ball, only for Shevchenko to just miss the ball, as it turned around the post. FC Cali had a chance straight after to make it 1-0, as a Karim Benzema header hit the post. First goal came around the 7th minute mark, as Aimar had a solo effort saved by James, and Robinho scored from the follow up. Still, 1-0 after around 30 minutes played. Parker just had a vicious right foot volley for it only to end up high over the bar. After 43 minutes, Ashley Young side footed a shot from outside the box as it took a deflection off of Ze Castro, and wen't in the back of the net. Goal given to Young, the referee stated, though. 2-0 at Half-time.

When they came out again, FC Cali seemed to be surprising Lorenzinho's team, as in the first 10 minutes of the second half, it was dominated by the away side. One chance, probably the closest, was when veteran Pavel Nedved threaded a pass through to Rooney, who used his skill to beat Burdisso and then get a shot away. Cross-bar. The third and final goal came in the 91st minute. Goal was scored from Spaniard Asier Del Horno, as he broke forward and sliced it past James. 3-0, a very dissapointing away defeat for FC Cali.

FC Cali: James; Salgado, Ze Castro, Felipe (Ibanez 81), Aurelio; Benayoun, Landzaat, Costinha, Nedved (Arca 74); Rooney, Benzema (Zigic 81)

FC Cali vs Real Verdadera
Matchday - 5
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/1716/costinha2zp5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Preview:

Rock-solid defensive midfielder Costinha should be playing in the upcoming match against Real Verdadera, says Houlliér. Costinha has gotten off to a rather poor start comparing to his standards of play last season. He could be dropped, but his partnership with Landzaat I cannot see being broken this early on in the season. Costinha and his play has been one of the most talked about going-ons going into matchday 5.

Houlliér and chairman Cali were highly upset with FC Cali's last 3-0 loss, but chairmain Cali talked to us after last weeks match and said "This is a football club. You win games, you draw games and you do, lose games. We have lost heavily here, and also as it's the start of the season it is definately not a good result. But, the team will have to move on from this, and look towards next weeks tough game with Real Verdadera".
