To score free-kicks or to at least make the keeper work, i hold R1, press [] till a bit past the middle of the power bar, and while shooting I hold down and the direction you want to curl the ball. I've hav scored nearly 30 free-kicks wiv this technique and i scored a hat-trick wiv becks against ajax - all free kicks. I find that the free-kicks tend to b powerful as well as deceptive (curl). Pls let me know wot u think.

I think it works best around 24m out - d'alessandro is the best free-kick taker.

I agree with your/my technique for free-kicks everyone on the website tells my that the best way to take free-kicks is to hold up while applying curl but i know that they are wrong.

If you keep practising, you'll soon master the art of freekicks. My bruv is scared everytime he gives away a free-kick near the area against me. I have also scored my tenth freekick wiv beckham a few minutes ago in the master league. Yesss!!

Yippee - I scored 7/9 freekicks using the method I use wiv one of the tries I missed hit the crossbar. Hopefully I'll get 10/10 next time. U must give it a go - it works well.

I'm shit when it comes to taking free-kicks. I've tried many different techniques but still no luck, only around 1 in 20 of mine use to go in before. So what I do now is I pass it to one of my players in the box and then I pass it back to the free-kick taker. I then move a little to the side (depending on where wall is set) and then I blast it. I've been scoring more ever since I started using this technique.

Its good if you can get it on target, but the only problem with passing it - is that i find it gets blocked quite a lot. At least you might get a corner which are easy to score off.

isn't pressing R1 the same as holding up when taking free kicks ? i thought they both did the same thing. :S

If you just press up you get a powerful freekick. If you just press R1 you get a powerful freekick, but if you press both you get a very powerful freekick.

What I did is use R1 for power and down+direction of curl to get the ball over the wall and into the net. You have to get the powerbar right though. Vary's with different people.
