That would be some haul that!
Aguero is amazing.
Wow, if there finalised alt madrid will be damn good next year

Why is everyone so hyped up? That's two players which doesn't resolve any defensive issues and Perea is still supposed to be leaving - though he might not be. They'll need to do much more than that to secure a top five finish, but granted it is a good start if both transfers are confirmed.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure both have been confirmed.
athletico madrid so fucking lucky if they get him. lets hope they dont flop again

I was hoping Rosicky would be playing at the Emirates Stadium next season, but I have a soft spot for Atletico Madrid (second favourite Spanish team, behind Sevilla) so I hope he does well there. It's a shame it looks like he won't be playing alongside El Nino.

Rosicky is a class player. Its a shame that Wenger didn't try and get him. I'm sure we would've got the player if Wenger made a bid - Rosicky stated that he would love to join Arsenal (when we showed some interest in him).

Osasuna's now ex manager Javier Aguirre is supposedly being presented as Atlético's manager this wednesday. I have faith in this man, and I think this should be great for the colchoneros... Then again, so I thought about Bianchi.
Just signed Mista i do believe, another decent piece of business on their part. La Liga is going to be fantastic this season and i can see Athletico being the team to watch.

I think Zaragoza will also do well this season as they are making some class signings.

I have something to say on this matter but don't want to elaborate in case what I'm hearing doesn't come to pass and it becomes pointless. Using this post as a reference in case it does become relevant ;)
The way things are now, they've made some good signings but they also made good ones last season and it didn't work very well. Hold more hope for them this season and also for Zaragoza as Top Gun says.

Well it was about time someone got it.
Is it Paul Le Guen. Or am I being a stupid €unt?
Yeah, i just got it aswell...
Yh ony Real and Barca to challenge for the Title. Athletico are always disapointing every season, so much is expected fo them but they fail. This year they should be top 4 or 5

I would possibly put Valencia in the frame aswell.
I'm dreading the day we play them. This kid they signed, Aguero, is very dangerous.
Atletico were supposed to be good last season, but somehow they let everyone down again. They are like Spain in international football, they have the players but they just don't seem to achieve their full potential.

Probably but they can't match the squad Real and Barca have, they will be close though and have good signings, I think they have bought Simao which is good for Valencia.

I agree with you in principle J, but I think people have been saying this about atletico for a few years now, but the team has been underacheiving ever since I started watching football. I would like to see them at least trouble barca and real for a title race, but I don't know. I think last year the expectation was very high and the team did not deliver. Too inconsistent. Maybe it was Bianchi's fault. I hope they do better this year, they are getting some good players.

True, but I'm confident on Aguirre's skills to make a difference now. You all could see what he did to Osasuna, and he got a reputation for doing things like that here in Mexico before that.

but theyre mid was week and made the defense look like LLLL.
they had interesting players in defense last season yet they did so poorly
Lopez, Pablo, Perea
They have a better coach now, i hope he can handle this team though.
by the way

Atletico have asembled a very good squad for next season and with Torres staying I can see them being alot better this season and causing a threat to the top 3 or 4 maybe making 4th and final CL spot behind Valencia/Barca and Real Madrid.

I would say it is a fair assumption to think that Messi has delivered.
You wanna sort that cough out. ;)

Hmm, perhaps he already delivered. I'd say he fully delivered when he plays in the starts of the national team and Barcelona for quite some time.
I think I'll keep that cough, I might need it for other threads ;)

Here's some highlights from the A. Madrid v. R. Huelvo game.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xUe3Qx4M1k
Terrible refereeing. Two dives that won penalties and I think it was Aguero who high fived the ball into the net.
That match was absolutely farcial. Stone the referee!
http://www.humorlinks.com/python/pictures/brian/whistle.jpg
Yes they should stone the ref. Personally, I do not like the tactics shown by Aguire. From what I have seen, he is trying to play a defensive game, but this team doesnt need to opt for that strategy. Their defense is decent and their mids are the best they had in years(Costinha, and Maniche). They need to emphasy more on their attack, and use Aguero as a SS rather then Mista.
This is my perfect line up.

Just watching Valencia Vs Atlético Madrid. Ze Castro, this kid has it going on. Seen him a few times this season and he really has impressed me.

There was some trouble between Atletico and Aberdeen fans last night. There's a video on Marca but I can't seem to find one which I can post. 17 injured it seems. Many Aberdeen fans didn't have tickets to the game, which never helps.

Great game last night Aguero played a fucking stunner!
I had 8th pick out of ten on a champ league tourney i picked Liverpool first then my 2nd pick was A Madrid.
Dark horses Madrid are especially after strengthening the centre back positions.
I was really surprised about the result especially as they were away. They do rely heavily on Agüero, but that's normal because he's probably the best player in Spain at the moment. I think they and Liverpool should get through the group and both those games should be great for football fans, especially if Kun features. He's on fire right now.
Three reasons to watch Atleti:
1) They play exciting football.
2) 90% of the time there is a lot of goals in their games.
3) KUN!

I think it has something to do with the Coiffencients mate, not entirely sure but i think it's that.
Not a decent enough squad imo, great first 11 though. If they get hit with injuries especially to the main guys then I can't see them being a threat in either competition.
Keepers are dodgy as fuck too.
They weren't that great, PSV was defending like they were playing Volendam. Aguero was quick to capitalize on Brechet's mistakes.
If Koevermans was of any use at top level they would have scored a few.

Coupet and Leo Franco ? Thought they were top keepers tbh.
Yeah if they lose Maxi, Aguero or Forlan(which they have) they could be a little weak upfront especially with Reyes at Benfica.
What was the story with that ? Was he crap at Atleti or something ?.
He's been crap all over since he came back from Arsenal.
Lack of confidence probably.
Coupet and Franco seem prone to mistakes.
Franco was pretty good last night, perhaps because PSV's strikers were that bad. Seemed to stray from his goal-line often, some long distance-shots came in and he was about 5 meters away from his line.
