curling the ball

as soon as the shot power bar comes up and i let go i press left or right to curl it but i dont even notice it curl.
what am i doing wrong and how do you do it.

hi red_devil i'm new here aswell (toambeck). I registered yesterday. Hav you seen my post, it tells you how 2 score freekicks and I use curl. You might find summit there that might be useful.

maybe it's just the angle you're viewing it at, there isn't really any need to put curl on every shot you take though a bit of bend on free kicks and corners are handy.

I aim towards the middle of the goal and curl away from the goal (like becks freekicks). You can easily tell that you have put curl on. Hold curl while you are shooting - thats what I do and I have scored many freekicks. I also hold R1 and down+curl with the power bar going just past half way. Works best with beckham and around 24-30m

to curl the ball what button(s) do you use?
i use the left analogue button and when i take a shot hold it left or right am i right in doing that?

If the player making the shot does not have very good Curling stats then it won't curl much but otherwise, you seem to be doing it right. Try Becks or Giggs in Training mode, line ya man up with the goal in a straight line (so you are viewing him from behind) and take a shot, add some curve and you should see it!

PS. remember to press and let go of the shoot button and then pull left or right on the left analogue as the ball leaves your players foot. If you just hold left or right as you press shoot, it will simply tend to shoot the ball in the direction you are pointing rather than curling it.

i have managed to flick the ball up and do a volley off the bar but only from about 25yards.

I can curl the ball great during corners and FKs but during regular play I cannot curl the ball even the slightest when taking shots on goal, even with becks...WTF?

i struggle with curling, well honestly i'm struggling with the whole game still. i'm guessing its just practise practise and a bit more practise.

So hang on, to get the best results from curl I hold forward on L analogue stick when I shoot, then just as he has kicked it, I move the L analogue stick left or right. Just need to get it clear in my little head.... yes, I am rubbish at this game.

The amount of curl you get depends on the player that's taking the kick, the distance you’re taking it from and the power you put in. Players like Beckham and Recoba can get a lot of curl on their crosses and shots. I've actually scored quite a few goals from corners.

This is what I do if I want to score from a corner. Firstly, I move the player in towards the goal a lot more, then I hold down the L1 button, side button (in towards the goal) and the square button (I've changed it with the circle button) until the bar is filled about 3 quarters of the way and then I let go and some times they go in off the keeper, very rarely do they just go straight in. However, most of the times the Goalie save it, or the Defender defends it.

Note: Left Footed players should take corner kicks from the right and Right Footed players from the left.

I get most joy from corners with an outswinging cross, aiming as far towards goal as I can and curling it away.

You can only curl place kicks.

You can only curl free kick, corner kick shots and crosses. Normal shots curl depending on the player's skills and you can't affect the curl with much effect.

you can only curl the ball in freek kicks, i dont think u are talking about free kicks
