Podolski confirmed
D. Van Buyten Confirmed
what a good player to sign i think he will do very well with them.
Lukas Podolski at Bayern already? Is this true? If so, I think that's a fantastic signing. He will be like Rooney. Bayern (United) stole the top talent of German football from FC Koln (Everton) in Lukas Podolski (Wayne Rooney). Anyway, I did that move on my FM, so it's pretty nice.
He will do well for them. I'm sure of it. Only problem is... Podolski, Pizzaro, Makaay, Guerrero and Santa Cruz! :shocking: They need atleast one to let go of. All excellent striker, but I'd sell Guerrero. Pizzaro is a hitman, Santa Cruz can come up big especially when fit, Makaay is an even better hitman and despite Guerrero holding the future of Bayern's strikeforce, Podolski can do that now. ;)

yes this is true and yes they will have to sell someone now. but you are also right it is the same as man utd with rooney. podolski is going to put his name in german football history what a player. what does anyone else think about podolski??
he has too much of it and he can score, what more can you ask for.

He is a great striker, and a brilliant signing for Bayern. Arsenal tried to nick him from under Bayern's nose, but unfortunately, his heart was set on the German giants. I hope he does well there, he should have a great career ahead of him.

Bayern is my second favourite team!
...Podolsky!....Great!...a very good scorer for Bayern ;)

Well now the Guerrero went to Hamburg. I think that Magath should play wit the three strikers Pizarro and Makaay up front wit Podolski right behind them more like a OMF. Dont think they can win CL though
Yes, about Guerrero, has he gone on loan or transfer ?

Ive been impressed by what I have seen of Podolski. If Bayern can get Van Nistelrooy they could form an amazing partnership.
Whats the deal with Lahm? Is he partly owned by Stuttgart or do Bayern have full ownership of him? I would love him at Liverpool. Traore and 2m for him? :D
I think Podolski is over-rated alot, I don't see whats so special about him.

Yo Sinhz, Great thread about time someone got one going for the biggest club in German History. ;)
It'll be interesting to see how Bayern do without Ballack...not sure he was that influential during the World Cup...but he sure was at the club I think...

They will still win the league if they keep the core of the team and I dont think that there will be many more going.
Who are they gonna get to replace him in the Midfield? They tried to get Van Bommel but he is happy at the Camp Nou.
Thanks Billy.
I think they are going for a three striker attack.

i'd get rid of santa cruz, no where near as good as makaay
i'd get rid of santa cruz, no where near as good as makaay
is a different type of player, you cannot compare Pele with Ronaldo, can you two different games. Santa Cruz is the man when he is not injured, better believe it.

i know they are different types of players but i meant that makkay is better because i feel he will give more to the squad next year than what santa cruz will cause no doubt he will mst of the season with injury as per usual

Makaay can't scored even just a goal, although he wasn't injured
neowho2002
25-07-2006, 08:50
but then Santa Cruz is a really talented striker...he can always score during important moments....
Makaay is a decent striker but then not very stable...there were some moments in the last season that he didn't score any goal ><;
Van Bommel is a Bayern Player. Finally they get a playmaker. Nice sign

 Believe me mate, that made no sense.
Good to see Bommel coming in, he should stabilize our midfield a bit more and play the 'passing the ball around' flow Munchen loves.

Anyone else surprised Magath played Podolski, Santa Cruz, and Pizarro from the start? Not surprised he left Makaay on the bench though. Hopefully he plays this formation more often. Pizarro gets more playing time this way
The game against Werder Bremen was an embarrasing game for Bayern. They got beaten at their own game. Passing the ball in the ground, outrunning them. Magath needs to give Hagreaves some time. Bayern has alot more game to offer, but they lack the right formation that will enable them to do so.
Bayern, you dissapoint me, I did not want to see any Italian Clubs in the semis

Why did Schweinsteiger not play tonight?
He had a knee strain, but shouldn't be out of action for long.
Kahn just threw his hat away, and got a yellow card. Ridiculous.
Anyway, Cacau is murdering the defence, 2-0, could have been 4-0. Bayern haven't created a single chance.
Hahaha, i feel bad for bayern they lose in the champions league and now the league is slipping away. I dont think i have seen so many long faces like that in a while. They better turn things around fast.

Champions League qualification for next season is even slipping out of their grasp. Makes you wonder whether the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philip Lahm would look for moves away, as there would be no shortage of interest.
Another defeat for Bayern, I don't see them qualifying for the Champions League next season.
poor management decision destroyed their season
Hoping this would bring this thread back to life
Toni’s Bayern Deal Done – Report
Fiorentina’s Luca Toni could be a Bayern Munich player as early as Wednesday, according to reports in Germany.
The Italian club announced on Monday that the prolific striker was leaving the club after making it clear he no longer wanted to play in Florence.
A 13 million euro deal has reportedly been agreed with Bayern Munich and representatives from the German club are due in Italy in midweek to complete the final details.
Toni apparently rejected moves to other Serie A clubs out of a sign of respect for Fiorentina.
"It is a beautiful gesture to the club and the city of Florence that Toni has decided to join Bayern Munich," said Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle, while also confirming the deal.
The 30-year-old scored 49 goals in two seasons for Fiorentina and is part of Bayern’s drastic rebuilding plan after they only managed to qualify for the Uefa Cup next season.

Bayern could be quite a force next season. Some very good signings already in this transfer window, and their squad is starting to take shape.
I feel they need a new top class winger to fill the void left by the departures of Ze Roberto, Deisler and Scholl, but it seems they are targetting one, if reports linking them with Ribery and Van der Vaart are correct.
Not sure how fast he's going to adapt to the bundesliga but his height and physical attributes should fit well.

I dunno so far even with Toni and the other signings they've made i'm still not sure if they'll become a real force, i don't really know much about the players that they've signed other than altintop so i could be proved wrong, but for Bayern to really be up there with the top teams in europe again surely they'd have to sign some top class players...

I feel Jose Sosa and Marcell Jansen (already a starter for Germany) can prove very valuable players for Bayern.
I'm assuming they'll start off next season with something like this:
GK: Kahn
LB: Marcell Jansen
CB: Lucio
CB: Van Buyten
RB: Lahm
DM: Demichelis
CM: Van Bommel
LM: Schweinsteiger
RM: Ribery/???
ST: Podolski
ST: Toni
With the likes of Rensing, Lell, Ottl, Sagnol, Sosa, Altintop, Schlaudraff and Makaay in reserve, I think there's a lot of hope for them.

They really raped Bremen there, Ribery looked great.

That's a bit too attacking. Podolski didn't perform too well in his first season, so Toni and Klose, with a midfield of Schweinsteiger, Van Bommel, Demichelis and Ribery is what I think Hitzfeld will usually opt for.

I'm falling in love again with Bayern and more now with Ribery.
I'll probably get one of their jerseys, looks good.
Klose, Toni, Ribery, Schweinsteiger, Sagnol, Lahm, Altintop, Lucio. Wow, simply wow.
They should have bought a center back though, Van Buyten was quite dire in his first season so a back-up would have been great. The defense as a whole was quite shabby, though Sagnol was missing of course.
It's a shame their not in the Champions League. You want to see teams of this quality in the Champions League.
But maybe they can won UEFA Cup with Sevilla gone..

Not sure about anyone else, but I would have thought that Makaay should have stayed on at "FC Hollywood" for a little longer.
Luca Toni is a bit of a journey man, he has a great record from his time with Fiorentina and Palermo, but, whereas he's spent his entire career in Italy, he'll be playing in a new country. I'm not aware of many Italians who have made that much of an impact in the Bundesliga and I hope for his sake it doesn't happen, but he could well turn out to be a flop.
Roy Makaay, on the other hand, had a proven track record with Bayern and, unlike Toni, was already familair with the Bundesliga.
So Klose should fit too because he already familiar at Germany when he was at Bremen..

I agree, but Luca Toni has the build similar to Kuranyi, Makaay and bit of Klose. This could make him brilliant in Germany. Will have to see.:)
Bayern will be really great to watch this season. I agree with you Barry, that they need another central defender as backup. Someone like Metzelder would be good but he's already at Real.

Yes.
Ribery vs Stuttgart, look it up on Youtube or whatever. Lovely goal.
Thank God Klose scored on the 79th minute. Disappointing they lost a lot of chances. :(
*Bayern Munich 1-1 Burghausen
Win by penalties.
They humiliated Bremen with a fantastic Ribery. This Bayern is a giant force.

He shouldn't have treated the club and the fans the way he did. Going to the clubs arch rivals is a huge taboo in football yet some players don't seem to realise that. The fans and the club still gave him immence support during the second half of last season when he seemed to forget how to score.
Yes, Ribery's penalty was good.

Werder Bremen didn't seem to mind much. They even presented him with a gift in front of the Bremen fans, and they were even cheering him. Maybe it's a different footballing culture over there.

They conceded a lot of goals and they didn't score any. That was their main problem, but that's just my opinion.
