The Football Manager team has taken the fans comments on board and have introduced a host of new features across all formats. Feeder Clubs - Brand new to Football Managerä 2007, and one of the most requested features on Sports Interactive’s forums has been the addition of feeder clubs to the game. This new addition works in all the ways you would expect it to in real life. You can establish your club as the small team who receives loan players from a larger club or a large club looking for support getting your youngsters match experience by loaning them out. Have the first option on players from clubs, and schedule pre-arranged friendlies each season by simply asking your board for a feeder relationship and choose from the list they compile.
Youth Revamp - A complete revamp of youth teams sees full youth squads for each team that has a youth set-up, thus giving a much better system for the regeneration of players in the long term game.
User Friendly – Football Manager 2007 gives players a new easier to use default skin, along with hints and tips throughout the game, and an improved tutorial. In addition to better feedback from your assistant manager and scouts as well as lots more media, customisation and multiple row selection, all this adds up to the most user friendly Sports Interactive game ever.
Scouting Revamp - A complete revamp of the scouting system inside the game leads to more information about players and teams being made available to managers, as well as a more realistic methodology for player scouting. Player Interaction - You can now talk to any player in the world via the media. Player interaction allows you to tap up other teams stars or see if players will buckle under the pressure. Recent SI blog update regarding new features which most of you have probably read. I like the multiple database, hyper-threading and "ultimate challenge" mode.
Balancing between new features and the speed of the game is really important so for those that do have speedy computers, more sections of the game are now multi core optimised and hyper-threaded. For those that have older machines, the "detail level" option in option menu is a good place to go all levels of matches are now configurable to play out with the full match engine (with visible highlights) or the quick match engine (without visible highlights). So you can now have more leagues active in the game, so more jobs to get across the world, without it slowing down the game much at all, or just keep using the same amount of leagues as in previous SI games, working with the other optimisations to actually speed the game up considerably, despite the 100+ new features. We have tried to cater for those with both the latest machines and those with older ones, and obviously the older the technology, the slower the machine will be with higher detail settings, so its nice and easy to tune the speed of the game to what youre happy with on your PC or Mac, much like you can with detail settings in FPS games.
Other new features in the user friendly area include lots of extra stats being displayed inside the game, particularly in news items, to give more info to the user, better feedback from your assistant manager, agents recommending positions for exchanging players in transfer deals and the option to back up saved games before a new one saves.
Oh, and lets not forget the basic and advanced set up modes for starting a new game and adding a manager, with easy to use wizards for those who get confused by any kind of menu. Or the ability to take screenshots just by pressing one of the function keys they save into your saved game directory (check out the "shortcuts" option in the preferences screen, which can be found in the option menu to see which button is assigned, and lets you completely configure keyboard shortcuts)
The database editor is also easier and quicker to use for those who like to edit such things. Weve added multiple database support into the game, so theres no need to wipe over older databases, meaning that if you try an unofficial update to the game and it doesnt work, you can easily switch back to the original database. Or choose to start a new game with data from the first transfer window, or the second window when we release our official data update around February time.
For those who play network games, theres been some optimisation made to make the experience easier, also the addition of screen remembering, which means that having the "continue game timeout" option which stops you from being kicked out of making transfer bids and return to screens that you dont want to be on.
Theres more things for advanced users, with new advanced game modes, including the possibility of the ultimate challenge, with random team selection where the computer chooses which team you should manage as well as the ability to have dual nationalities, just like the players inside the game.
But my personal favourite for both old and new users alike is the addition of the capability to select multiple players and perform multiple actions on said players, much like you would do with any software you use day to day. Want to get rid of your youth squad? Easy, just select the first player, then the bottom one whilst holding down shift, and they will all select. Right clicking on the mouse then gives you the multiple action options. You can use this on virtually all screens, so it makes it a lot easier to do scout searches, as well as managing your squad, managing player searches and the like.
yeah i can not wait for this and feeder clubs is a nice touch aswell it just gets better and better.

Being able to insult or praise particular rival players is a nice touch.
No new feeder clubs for me at Milan :huh: - we've already got links to Lugano, Juventus and Monza (which I knew about) plus Pizzighettone, Lecco, Pro Vasto, Triestina and Varese!

I uninstalled the Vanilla version while the Strawberry downloaded, no reason why you wouldn't be able to have both on though.
I started a game up with Chelsea, basically for the cash and to play for a half hour to get the feel of it all. They start with 75m.
Signing players is harder, I think, because clubs want more than the players value, like Albiol cost me alot more than he evaluation, Saviola was rated at 12m by Barca untill I bid for him, it rised to 19m, he's just not worth that.
The feeder clubs are looking quality, I must say. Itll be much better when the full game is out becuase you can check the status of loaned out players after the season, which you cant do in the demo.

Robin van Persie has been in superb form, 7 goals in 6 games.
I've got my eye on a young Brazilian left back, named Marcelo. I'm hoping to land him to cover for Clichy, although Hoyte has been doing a reasonable job.
Chelsea stole Esteban Cambiasso from under my nose. I had a bid of 13.25m accepted, and offered him 60k a week, yet he snubbed my offer, and decided to join Chelsea for 12.5m, with a 44k a week wage. Bastard. They've also signed Luca Toni for 14.5m.
Tottenham have been making some good signings. Ben Arfa, Tuncay Sanli, Carlos Marchena and Ronaldo Naldo.

i started up a link up with dc utd (freddy adu here i come) and im impressed with the more thorogh scouting system but i agree that players are harder to buy and value shoots up if others are interested

This demo is unbelievable, I can not wait till the game comes out.
I picked Chelsea. I'm still in pre-season, as I haven't had the chance to play non-stop yet. I've kept the standard team, but made a few addition -
Freddy Adu - I'm planning on sending him out on loan to one of my feeder clubs.
Curtis Davies - I may send him out, but I may need him for cover, as I only have 3 CBs.
Andersson - 18 year old Brazilian from Porto. I've had a 29 million bid accepted. I thought that I might as well just do it, because it is just the demo and not the real game.
I told Puyol that I admired him and he responded by saying that it is more important for his current manager to say that. I then said that I will stop at nothing to get him and he says that I might as well look else where. I bidded £36M for him, but Barca rejected.....bastard!!!
I also made Dunfirmline a new feeder club to me. It was a mistake and I didn't save for a long time, so I had to continue. But the addition of the feeder clubs is fantastic.
Man.....I can not wait till the game comes out!!!!

I think I have the new record - a Perugia player was sent off against me after 15 seconds. Tried to take a screenshot but as I never look at the keyboard, I instead pressed the power key and turned my computer off :huh:.
A strange one - Alessandro Nesta who has played every single match for me so far, scoring once, getting an average rating of 7.41, not being sent off, never being fined and always getting the same team talk as the rest of the players (never a special one as he's never outperformed the rest of the team) believes he has been treated unfairly. Anyone care to shed some light on how? I haven't got a clue.
EDIT: I've had some players in my reserves being tutored by the likes of Gilardino, Maldini and Dida. Ricardo Oliveira was tutoring George Weah's son but after a couple of months Weah Junior has turned around and said he couldn't learn anything from Oliveira because their personalities are so different (Oliveira is ambitious and Weah Junior is balanced). Now both are unhappy :huh:.
All reasons to love this game though.
I was playing Decreeben (sp) and they had three players sent off in a minute :huh:
It was a chain reaction, one bloke kicked out at Kuyt, then got sent off, then Nowonty (sp), who was on a yellow card, was angry at the ref, then got a second yellow and sent off, then some geezer pushed Gerrard and got sent off aswell

November 19th - a Milan derby and I've been having blazing rows with Roberto Mancini, the cunt.
You go to a member of your youth team, go to Player Interactions and at the bottom is "Linked Players", select a player from the drop-down menu and say you think the youngster could learn a lot from that player. The youngster has Lrn next to their name, the first-teamer has Tut.

I had something similar to that, but it was the opposite. Essien morale is always poor, so after the match, I said that I am delighted with his form, to see if that would raise his morale. And his response was that he does not know why I am praising him, when he is not playing well :mellow:
All I wanted to do was make him feel wanted!!!
Also on my game, Milan bought David Souza, I thought that was quite funny, as you wanted him to join if Tevez didn't :laugh:
I'm really starting to get into the demo.
I'm currently 10th in the Prem with a game in hand, have to play Chelsea though :huh: Beat Dinamo 5 - 0 at home then drew 0 - 0 away, to quailfy for the CL, got Roma, Bordeaux and Hamburg in my group. In the Prem I haven't been too bad, beat Villa 1 - 0, Bolton 3 - 0, both at home, then lost 2 - 0 to Arsenal away then lost to Man City 2 - 0 away. Had a 0 - 0 draw at home to Roma for my first CL group match.
Chelsea have pissed me off, they spent 57m in the transfer window, signing Cambiasso for 11.5m and Torres for 45.5m :huh:, I did beat them in the CS though :D

I too signed Marcelo, but for less than £6m. Oliveira had 7 in 11 for me before dislocating his shoulder - the same injury Kaka picked up three weeks before him. Dida and Kaladze in central defence are playing superbly. Gilardino has also hit form now after a slow start.

Essien morale is always poor, so after the match, I said that I am delighted with his form, to see if that would raise his morale. And his response was that he does not know why I am praising him, when he is not playing well :mellow:

Co-ownership is where a player under the age of 24 (in this case Okaka) joins a club (my Milan for £2m or so) for a season or two and at the end of that time frame (or an earlier one if agreed by both clubs) secret bids are submitted to the FA. The team who bids higher wins full rights of the player.
As there are no reserve teams in Italy, it can help players who demand first-team football but don't want to go on loan to get experience while potentially cementing their place in another team as a player who is co-owned won't be sitting on the bench every week as his new club will have paid cash for 50% of his contract.
Hope that is easy to follow.

20m James, although Gaydamak always seems to want a high profile player so you can spend a bit more.
I've just sold Kaka (11 games, no goals, 1 assist, average rating of 7.00) to Chelsea for £37m and replaced him with Luis Jimenez who has cost me £3.4m. Also moved to sign Cristian Zaccardo for £3.2m. Gourcuff (10 games, 2 goals, 4 assists, average rating of 7.50) and Seedorf (24 games, 7 goals, 3 assists, average rating of 7.35) have been sharing the playmaking role while Kaka was injured for a long spell and I have adequate midfield cover with Ambrosini and Brocchi. I now have tons of money and require and only a young central defender. Excellent :D

When the game comes out, I will look to sell Kaka, Nesta and Simic immediately and sign Marcelo, Okaka, Jimenez, Gabriel Milito (or Barzagli) and Zaccardo. That way all my transfers will be complete very quickly and with little or no competition.

I started up with Celtic. I havent sold anyone, not even Telfer, but Im trying to ship him out along with Thompson, no luck so far. I was scouting about and Graham Strachan had 3 stars beside his name, so I scouted him and the scout liked him, so I bought him for 20k. I had started with 1m and I think thats a disgrace...

Aye. They turned me down, saying that they cannot afford to allocate new funds. I also tried to get a new feeder club, but they said that we need more money and the only thing to do is to sell Zurawski and Nakamura and get a nice 7/8m for the two, but thats not going to happen.
Ill continue this game and then save it before Jan 10th, so I can pick it up again after the official game comes out and turn Celtic into Champions League winners... Ive done it before ;)

Started a game with Milan earlier and played it a while. Before I egt to posting this Ill mention a mistake I made... My nephew loves the game aswell (12) and so I always let him take charge of my friendlies, because he tries like hard to get better at it. So I do my bit and then I let him field a team for the friendlies. After 4 games I thought that was the end of pre-season, but then he said he had two games left and so I had a quick look and it was against Legia, so Ilet him play them. After this I went to check my next game and I had noticed that I let him play my Champions League Qualifiers, I wasnt too happy at all, but it was my own fault.
Anyway, Ive started well despite having no Champions League football, and I think Ive spent well, my dealings are as follows. I was keeping in mind to make the squad younger, so I think Ive done alright, in some parts...

I think Ive done well and I had 10m to start with so to sell those 3 players and make a great profit I had to use it well and so far its looking good. I first started and Gilardino torn his hamstring and Cafu broke his leg, the idiot, so I had to fill in for those two and I treid my best to lure some talent in, hopefully itll turn out good for Milan.
PS, Burlusconi (?) sold Kaka without me having a sniff in the say of it, but 35m was worth it, but I had a first deal struck with Chelsea for Kaka. Thye offered Drogba and 10m, so I changed it to 25m plus Drogba, and they accepted... Only for it to be mysteriously canceled, after agreement.

Shevchenko is a monster in this game.....if there us a one on one, he's going to score and also, he can just burn anyone.
You should be able to send strippers to the players rooms, if they perform well....

Aye, Ive got the youngsters I rate learning from those players in an attempt to improve their abilities. I know its a Demo but I read earlier that you can keep playing when you buy the full game so its all good.
Suazo is good and a bargain at 7m.

I'm 19th with Boro :mellow: Yakubu was doing fine (6 in 4) and I was asked what I thought, I said "he's enjoying his football...." next thing I know, he's saying his praise was undeserved :shocking: It's now late November and he's only got 7. It's quite annoying, I've had so many different partnerships in defence, midfield and up top, no one has really got a steady partner.
My captain left two weeks before the season started too. (Boateng) Feyenoord said how much do I want, I though "meh, put 8 million they wont have that" but they did and he wanted to go :blush: so I had to get that nutter Barton in for 6.5 million, he's not setting the Riverside alight (avg 6.7)
Roll on the full game so I can start with a big database and loads of leagues.

Yes, it only lasts for six months - all SI demos are the same in terms of time allowed.
I've started a second game with Boavista who have no money (£400k) and signed Di Biagio and Tsartas on free transfers, Vandinho from Braga (£95k) and I think a couple of others. Just got beaten 4-2 at home in a friendly by Juventus :huh:

I mentioned earlier that I signed Ribery, but I delayed that deal to see if I could get better and cheaper, becuase Marseille were taking the piss. I then canceled the deal and saved myself a fortune, Nesta has turned down Madrid saying he wants to stay so Im going to keep him now, he can partner Albiol, with Micah Richards about to seal a possible move.
I have over 40m left to spend, saying that I stopped the Ribery deal, so can anyone give us some ideas on a good left winger and right winger, becuase Brocchi and Serginho wont cut the cake for me...
It's a shame, a sad shame.

Brazilian football is awash with gifted wingers but you'll probably be unable to sign them because of the "only one non-EU player from abroad per season" restriction.
In Italy:
Marchionni (Juventus), Mancini, Perrotta (both Roma), Esposito (Cagliari), Asamoah (Udinese)
In your current squad, Jankulovski does pretty well as a winger and Luis Jimenez (Arezzo and very cheap) can play on right wing although not naturally.

In my Boavista game (where I've had to leave two of my new signings out as I can only register 27 players for the league), Porto sold Lucho Gonzalez to Bayern and Porto's goalkeeper Helton said he was concerned at the squad being weakened. His coach Jesualdo Ferreira hit back saying he wasn't looking for a replacement as he felt he had enough players to fill in for Gonzalez and Helton then remarked that his concerns weren't being dealt with seriously and he wanted to leave the club. I hate Porto so obviously picked this moment to criticise the coach and declare my interest in the Helton who has told the press he'd never join the club. As a result, three of my players have this under General Happiness:
"Glad to see the manager has a good sense of humour following his declaration of interest in Helton"

So I guess I'm going to have to move smartly, because I need a good finisher, but they do not come cheap. I want to buy Iaquinta, he is strong, quick and can finish, but the problem is that he will cost a lot and kill my budget.
I need a extra left back, but I saw an Algerian (can't remember his name) in Serie B, which should be a good cheap option.

Inter went a man down, when Dacourt (I think it was him) got dismissed for a second bookable offense. Straight away, Panucci gave away a free kick and Vieira headed in from the free kick. Then Mancini goes after two yellow cards and that idiot Panucci does the same thing and leaves me with nine men :no: Then in the dying moments of stoppage time, new signing Neri Cardozo (20 year old, Argentine winger) equalised, when Toldo kicked the ball straight to him.
I thought it was straight to penalties, but you have extra time first!!! I lasted the 1st half, with Inter dominating. Second half started the same and then Zannetti fired a cross into the box and Grosso lost Chivu and headed home the winner. It was really bad defending by Chivu, but he was man enough to appologise to his team mates and now is determined to go from strength to strength. But losing to Inter leaves a bad taste in the mouth :(

Considering my team is pretty much shite, I have no money and I've changed my formaton exposing my decision not to register two particular players I require as backup, it was a great result. Shame I can't achieve fuck all away.
With Boavista excluding my recent 4-1 hammering at Porto who are blatantly a million times better than my team, in my three previous matches I've had a total of 15 chances whilst the teams against me have had a combined total of 45. Despite that I won 1-0 away, 3-1 away and drew 1-1 at home so results aren't bad.
However, if my team don't learn how to get a grip of games I'm quickly going to be in serious trouble.

When I manage in Spain or with a team who had good money/a team who I make money for, I always go for David Villa, release clause 24m. I think he's the best scorer so far in the game ;)

I've barely played so far although it was a very hard decision not to manage Boavista or Red Star Belgrade. I've got a game where I am two managers - one at Milan and another starting unemployed with another. I get bogged down as three players (Milan, Boavista and Red Star) sometimes because a season takes forever to complete. However, having played in Portugal in the demo, I'm aware of a couple of teenagers available on free transfers who were the stars of my Boavista youth team and am signing them for Milan. Kaka will be on his way to Chelsea again but I'm going to try and get £40m out of them and then sign David Suazo, Luis Jimenez, Okaka, Massimo Oddo and Marcelo.

Played my first Old Firm match. drew 1-1. Just slipped to 2nd in my last match after losing 1-0 to Dundee United. Brahim Hemdani gave the ball away at the edge of the box when he had no pressure and lost the game from that goal. Motherwell are 1st after beating Celtic 2-0. I have quite a few injuries and already have 3 red cards. Libor Sionko got a straight red for a push and got a 2 match ban. :angry:

I'm top with 12 wins from 12 and therefore 28 points, Palermo (who I beat 1-0 at home already) are a point behind me, Inter are third with 24 and Roma fourth. Palermo have conceded just four goals and I've only let in five.
Chelsea at home in the CL next....only won one of my four CL games so far, a 3-0 home win over AEK Athens while I've drawn 1-1 at Chelsea and AEK and by the same score at home to Benfica.

I find this Football Manager very very hard, Doing my season as Forest I finished 8th at the end of the season in League One. I spent the beginning of my season only winning 2 in 14 matches! I think I'm 7th after about 12 games this season.

What is everyones team formation like?
This would most likely be my first team. Jeremy Clement, Barry Ferguson and Alan Hutton are injured though. Ian Murray, Brahim Hemdani and Sasa Papac have replaced them.

It seems as if I have some good youngsters with Jeroen van den Broeck, John Fleck, Moses Ashikodi, Dean Furman, Lacine Cheriff, Rory Loy etc. All who have been putting in great performances for the U19's and the reserves. John Fleck was called up for Scotland U19 and he's only 17. Yves Colleu has good comments on quite a few of the youngsters. :)

They were relegation candidates, but I took the job about 9-11 games into the season and dragged them to 3rd is the German second division. I wanted to leave them, but I'm still a rookie, so nig clubs just reject me, so I'll stay there another season and try to keep them in the Bundesliga, but that is going to be very hard, as they are limited funds and not a very attractive club. But I'll try and work some of the Best magic :D
Also on my game, Liverpool won the Premiership, Arsenal finished 5th behind 4th placed Spurs. Chelsea came 2nd with United 3rd.
Inter won the Scudetto. Roma came second place, Sampdoria was the surprise package finishing 3rd with Milan 4th. Juventus returned to Serie A, as winners of Serie B.
Barca retained La Liga, with Real Madrid finishing 6th!!! Can't remember the rest.
Nantes won the Ligue 1, with Lyon finishing 5th or 6th.
Bayern finished 6th in the Bundesliga, can not remember who won.
HSV beat Werder Bremen 1-0 in the UEFA Cup Final.
Inter beat Barca 4-1 in the Champions League Final.
Thank God, this is just a game, don't want to see the season ending like this at all!!!

Had the game 3 days now and im addicted already damm right its hard. Was winning my last game 5-0 with 10 mins to go end 6-3 against M'Boro. But i'm lovin it 8th with Spurs in the league only 7 or 8 games in. Got Nani comming from sporting in January for 9 Million. But yeah its became alot harder, your tactics must be spot on. in my opinion its a must to set scout to scout your next opponents. They told me to defend deep against everton away. Did that and got a well earned draw and Everton are like 3 or 4th on an unbeaten run.
Love the feeder club to send all my promisiny youngster off to stevenage or Slavia Prague
