View Full Version : Maybe we should have a new rule?
As it's shit hard to get a decent comment, or even a comment at all - Maybe we should make a new rule? It'd require Teekay to be on a lot, though so I understand if it's a no to this.
Every person that posts a new sig/avatar/etc.. has to comment on atleast 3 work other people has posted since you last posted yours. And no shit comments either, so if a person doesn't do this, his post can be removed or that post can be ignored?

This is in no way my area, but surely this would put people off creating?
Well it's damn annoying posting something of yours, while you've commented, and then not get shit back

That's a good point poffe, i can't help but think people still won't comment they just won't bother to post they're work.

Well then the lazy people have themself to blame and no one else.
yes i can see where you are coming from poff it happens to me all the time. but it would put people off i think like CaptainCabinet said.
But it's their own fault then, as I said.

Then don't comment on the work of people that don't comment on yours.

Yeah it's a pretty whack idea.. perhaps people don't feel the need to comment your work if they can't find anything that needs improving .. i don't know about anyone else but instead of having a handful people say 'aweomse sig, can't fault it etc.' i'd rather have one person say something useful and offer advice so that i can use it to improve my sig, it's the only way to learn!
sure, everyone likes to have a little ego boost every now and then but creative crit' is the way forward! Perhaps it just took this thread to open peoples eyes to it and shall now give you something back for your hard work.

Yes Fast Eddie you have a point, however when you make a signature and post your work and three paragraphs of critique on others work perhaps you could expect more than one comment saying 'Amazing Signature'. As you say these comments are nice, but so useful.
Perhaps certain people should be referred to the 'Constructive Posting' thread.

It's hardly like you're gonna get good feedback about artwork when only a minority have respectable graphic abilities and the majority are here for pes related discussions....
I always learnt that if you can't say anything nice, don't say it which is why I and I'm sure many people don't post comments.

Well, it's even harder to get comments on soccer-art.co.uk I feel. And you mostly get "i liki youre sigi veri muchi"

If people are forced to comment then they aren't going to mean as much as if you have to comment on 3 and you don't know what to say about em your just going to say 'looks good' you won't get anything which will help you out. I feel that if anyone comments it's because they can see room for improvement or they love the sig that much they just have to say.
Join a proper graphics forum then, with all due respect soccer-art and PESI aren't exactly hot beds of talent.

Well I think SA is a great forum. If you want to go further it's something like DeviantArt or Depthcore. When it comes to signatures, SA is one of the best places I've come across.
On the commenting thing, I think it'd be impossible to force people to comment. But if you want to be a respected part of the community you need to comment on other peoples works too.
Everyone please read the constructive posting thread :)
Imo you should only give comments to people who give comments to you, the ones which are useful and not just 'Amazin sig there yao!'. To be brutally honest most people like newbs and that dont get comments because of their status as having say 20 posts, and that is annoyingly stupid. Everyone deserves feedback whether they have 10 or 10 hundred posts, but its only fair that you give c&c as well, if you do that, you will get replies. Maybe if your sigs aint that good then you may not get replies, which in turn means you need to improve.
Theres nothing you can do to persuade people to comment, just give them the advice to comment more on others work or piss off.SA is the worst, full of n00bs like Poffe pointed out.
Sorry for reviving this thread but I wanted to have my say.
Some people blatantly post their sig, and wait for comments then go on posting more sigs etc. If a sig isn't good, it is very useful to give comments to it on how to improve.

.... And thats the thing that bugs me, this thread is directed at those people and I dont want to name anyone, but I do know of 1 or 2 sig makers who do just that, post up sigs in the hope of comments. I take your point, i'd be more than happy to comment on them, but they dont even say 'Thanks for the comment' or any kind of recognition for people's feedback. Plus they dont comment on others, and if they do (which they dont) I assure you it would be something along the lines of....

True, you don't get alot of 'thanks' and 'cheers for the comments', it would be good courtesy but of course not necessary. Let's just keep commenting on the ones that comment on others, and meanwhile try to convert those who don't into those who do...if you can the drift
I hear you loud and clear.
Original? gives the most and best comments, and I try and reply as often as possible with helpful advice, usaly commenting on all the new ones before I post my sig. There are others who only post a few but are very helpful like singey and barryvs. But what's it matter realy, if you want comments go on a photoshop site, maybe there should be a spin off APSInsight :)
