View Full Version : Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Brilliant, brilliant game.
I know not many people on here own Gamecubes, but Mario Kart is a game that you have just got to play once to appreciate its greatness.
Although single-player is a little bit short from what I've played, but multiplayer is fab - especially four-player in Battle Mode.
Maybe a little slow as well to begin with, but when you play on 150cc it gets faster. So that's good.
Wharra game. Still not PES though. :D
I've heard it's brilliant but I haven't got a Cube. I am considering getting one though and not just for Double Dash! :D
My mate HAS got a Gamecube though. He was planning on buying Double Dash but his brother (who is at Uni) came home and took away with him the Gamecube to Norwich while my mate was on a school trip. So, neither he or I will be able to play it until he gets it back. :(
I'm looking forward to the multiplayer. :)

do u still play the orignial your no.1 ....i played tha again and i remembered it to be the funest game ever but it wasnt quite as good as mario kart 64.... though till i played it again i too thought that it was betta!

me 2, its got less tracks in i think, casue i read this review and it neva had no special cup in there. Only th 1st 3, and there called the exact same cups as the last one

I remember when EDGE used to be a good publication.
It's a nice little Kart game with a limited amount of tracks - some of them uninspriring - and nothing more. If I knew what it was gonna be like I would have spent the 40 quid on something else.
All the other Mario Kart games including the N64 versions are better than this one so buy them versions instead if you haven't already played them to death before.

I did previously have MOH:Allied Assault for the PC.
Nintendo fan? Well, I have an N64 with a nice selection of games. :) I didn't think the Gamecube was anything special to start with but since playing it round my mates, my opinion has changed. And, of course, I may be getting one.

In a way there aint anythin special... an old radeon card though it still looks great. Hasnt got a wide variety of games, though i always find that nintendo make tha best multiplayer consoles... TOO MANY GUUD MULITPLAYER GAMES :D:D

The multiplayer for both games are excellent. :cool:
Single player is a joke in comparison. :p Although, that itself is good. :)

I haven't yet had a taste of Double Dash but I've played the demo of Everything or Nothing. Seems a vast improvement on previous Bond's. It's on my wanted list. :)
My mate has DD, but I haven't yet played it.

I can echo that statement.
I have played it though, my mate came round yesterday with his Cube. :) Double Dash = :cool:
Having played it makes the wait all the more unbearable.

I was Mario/Baby Mario first of all. I came 2nd in grand prix, my mate's (on same team) won the champ by 1 point over me. :(

Well, I guess I'd have to own the game and really explore all parts of the game before I could make a solid judgement. All I can say is that its great from what I played of it. :)
As for the Gamecube, put it this way, I wouldn't be buying Double Dash without the console. ;)

I've completed the Star, Mushroom and Flower cups on 50cc and 100cc so far. Also, the Mushroom cup on 150cc.

Very comfy pad, wire a lil short though :( i recomend getting The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, stuning game. I didnt need it but my bro bought me the game guide:o though it does have sum really handy stuff in :eek: you should check that out too ;)

Yup, I like the look of Prince of Persia. It doesn't come out for the Cube for another month though I don't think. I will get Bond (played demo) and maybe the Simpsons H&R. My mate has it so I'll see what its like. So many possibilities. :)

Now im kinda confused to why its only there type of karts that im gettin but i relized that im only them type of characters. What i think you have to do is do each cc (e.g 50cc all with bowser and do all the cups then do 100cc with bowser and do all cups then go to 150 cc and the same thing) Cause there is 3 type of characters you can be... real light ones like lil mario, normal kind like normal mario and then the big hefty bastards like wario. :D
This makes much more sence since it would make the game longer... im gonna test this out and make sure that this puzzle is correct. I havent done much in DD soo i could be wrong. What type of characters are you paul and what karts have you unlocked??

You could be right with that theory. We must investigate. ;)
I am usually Mario/Luigi, Baby Mario/Baby Luigi or Baby Bowser/Diddy Kong. Never any of the heavyweights. As for karts, I've unlocked a fair few. I can't remember the names of them all but they seem to be for the medium and lightweight characters. I unlocked a pretty nifty one earlier. :) I've unlocked the star cup and have completed all grand prix's on 50cc and 100cc. The mushroom cup on 150cc also.

you seem to be passed me ... doh :D got sum more pads today so been fully enjoying it with my bro's and friends. I havent played it too much but casue i got soo many games lately i been trying to give each a fair share. Got Manhunt today and i had played the demo but like i said before i dont think that the graphics make the game feel proper since it kinda reminds me a of numerouse amounts of games, like hitman 2, silent hill 2, gta vice city and splinter cell. I thought it might be a lil different plying the proper game but nope still mediocre. I reckon people have went over the top on how it can be disturbing. As i go threw the story line if it doesnt get any better i think i might return it and get sumthin a little betta. Oh i was wondering weither this DD would include the cup "speical cup" and it wasnt in there just like in mario kart 64 you have to unlock it. Now you may or may not know but i wont ruin any surprices ;) ...You played it in mutliplayer yet??

I have played it in multiplayer but not since I've got the game myself. My mate came round with his cube the weekend before this one just gone. It was brill. :) Talking of that, I unlocked something to do with the battle mode in multiplayer. Haven't had the opportunity to give it a go yet.

Yup, Luigi's mansion is one of the battle modes. That I do know. ;)

The battle mode is available from the start. It's just that its only for multiplayer.

Luigi's Mansion is just an additional stage for battle mode.

I find this one alot more challenging then the other mario karts (unless its casue i got a headache). I thought i'll just wizz threw these but ive acctually lost sum rounds :eek: :(.

This games is just fantastic. 1 thing which Mario Kart 64 lacked was you couldnt really unlock much. Unless it was played in multiplayer, it wasnt really much of a game. I guess back then i didnt really notice, but thinking back what exactly was there to do in there??. It dosnet really sound much of a game! I guess you could say the game itself kept you entertained... but there wasn't anything really you had to earn, I didnt have the full satisfaction that i'd nearly completed the game. It was a while back, but all i can really remember unlockin was the special cup.
Though this, this is about unlocking everything. Im acctually treating this like a full game. Before i knew you could unlock things i never properly played this, only in mulitplayer. This game can just live forever which makes it even better. Once everything is unlocked you got the beuty of playing in mutliplayer, which is a tresure, and a good laugh!!
Im on 150 cc star cup :D ... me and my bro decided to do Grand Prix in mutliplayer. Incredibly fun!! :D

Yeah, Double Dash is great. A friend has F-Zero on the cube and says it is good, but immensley difficult. I haven't played it yet though. Here are a couple of reviews.

I like immensely difficult unless of course it is stoopid like space combat in Elite 2: Frontier was on the Amiga!
