I can confirm that an incident took place at Plainmoor yesterday after the final whistle when a Chester City player was struck by a corner flag wielded by a Torquay United supporter. It is fortunate that the corner post is made of lightweight plastic otherwise the incident could have been far more serious.

The player decided not to press charges and the police took the man - in his late 60's - to Torquay Police Station where he was issued with an £80 fixed penalty ticket.
The Club has banned the supporter for life and we reaffirm our stance that violence has no place at Torquay United.

The referee will submit an "extraordinary incident" report and an FA Inquiry will follow. There could be repercussions and the FA has many powers in this matter ranging from a fine to an order to play behind closed doors. We hope that the prompt action we have taken will allow the FA to be lenient.

The supporter has apologised unreservedly and we must thank the Chester City player and management for not pressing charges against him.

Late 60s hahaha most Turkey fans are old and mental anyways
