View Full Version : chances are small anyone is ever going to read this but i'll do it anyway
hi,
i'm tim, i'm 27 and i live in belgium. besides playing footie games (for over 10 years now) i'm a referee in real life! during the past 9 seasons i made it to the 2nd provincial divisions (there are 4 national divisions and every province also has 4). not an easy job but someone's gotta do it eh?
well, see ya and keep on playin' the n°1 game!!!

Hiya mate.
can i ask you a refereeing question, do you make some decisions just to wind the crowd up?
lol, only joking

not yet, but i sometimes get close... last month a -18 player from a belgian premier league team was suspended for 6 games after i sent him off (3rd red card in 5 minutes for the same team :D) and the team was fined €250 for 'intimidating' me and my assistant referees. but i never got beaten up if that's what you mean. it happens sometimes to colleagues of me though

it just means he head butted an opponent!
we were only 15 years old so it was a pretty shocking incident for a sunday league game!!!
did anyone hear about that sunday league game a couple of weeks ago by the way?
a fella ran the length of the pitch to headbutt the referee.....who was a women. not very acceptable really!
in fact, i had to give a player a red card for headbutting the opposite goalkeeper in my very first 'senior' league game (in 4th provincial division - which is the lowest). quite an introduction, that is :D

was it just a pushing of heads together like you see in pro footy occasionally? or full on movement towards them? (you know, a conventional kicking out time at the pub headbut ;))

well, they were standing still opposite to each other (in an argument) when the attacker pushed his head forward against the goalkeeper's, i was standing merely 2 metres away from them! i also heard he quit playing football after that incident

There are some right hot heads in sunday league footy though, i only played 1 pub match when some one literally tried to break my leg when i went past him twice! they're nutters (literally in some cases...;))
