I liked the Japanese one better. The American version wasn't that bad but I had already seen Ringu, so I already knew what was going to happen and that kind of spoilt it. The scene in where she comes out of the TV, man that was scary.

I saw the American one first and thought the Japanese one was quite funny in places :)
I preferred the US version but I'm not sure whether that would be different if I'd seen the Japanese one first. I've seen all of the others since then. US one is scarier.
How about you ringu? Which version for you?
Definitely Maybe

Japanese without a doubt, it totally scared the shit outta me. I'm 31 and I still had to sleep with the lights on after. I was crawling up the back of the couch at the end.
However.......I have noticed it does depend which one you see first. If you dont know whats coming, its scarier.
I'd also recommend japanese RING 2, just as scary.......tho RING 0 is total bollox............(except for the end).

Japanese horror films all follow this similar spooky theme that I love and Ringu was no exception. Both versions were pretty scary but The Shining and Jacob's Ladder remain my top two horror films.
Signs (thriller/horror, though) was also the best horror film in the last 4 years.........apart from the last five minutes.
Has anyone seen Nosferatu, from years and years past? I would really love to.
Yeah.seen Nosferatu
VERY VERY overated, i was bored very quickly. dont get me wrong, I do like old b+w scary movies.........THE HAUNTING is excellent, as is REPULSION
but NOSFERATU just didn't do it for me.

my scariest moment is RINGU.....Sadako and telly obviously.

The film is pure genius. I probably wouldn't be as scared now as I was when I first saw it but considering I watched it at a tender age and my only exposure to animation until then had been the usual cartoons and Disney movies, it was a quite a leap. Truly awesome movie, however. Be forewarned though, don't expect leap-out-of-your-chair scaring. No. This film isn't like that. It's a combination of fantasy and horror. A combination that works very well.
There really isn't a more perfect time to see then now, what, with Christmas just around the corner. :)
i'm intrigued.
I know a mate thats got the dvd, i will borrow it and let you know my views.
