I'm a Rangers fan, is it true that Man City sell Rangers stuff in their store? I heard that a while back-dunno if it was just rumour though.
Dunno about that but there are always alot of your lads at our home matches. Rangers fans that is.
Apparently the two clubs have a great relationship.

First we should concentrate on keeping Micah and Joey. Personally, I couldn't give a shit about Sylvain Distin. If he leaves then let him, hes over-rated in my opinion.
Then we should get rid of some of the shite we have. Thatcher has gone, now we need to get rid of Reyna, Mills and Corradi.
Then we need a decent left-back, creative midfielder, striker, wide man and maybe another frontman.

Yeah make them support City. We need all the help we can get at this moment in time.
I have a mate who is a Wednesday fan and he was mocking me about our attendance the other night. I think we had 19,000 of our fans there the other night. Pretty frustrating.
Good news coming out of this week is that we are through to the next round of the cup, and Joey has quashed any rumours linking him with a laughable move to Everton. Micah Richards has also stated that he wants to stay at City for years to come, so thats a relief.
Transfer news is pretty bleak. Francesco Coco came on a 2-day trial and was sent packing. We have been linked with Kepa Blanco from Sevilla but another target, Steve Sidwell, looks like he might sign a new deal with Reading.

Michael Ball has joined. If he can keep himself fit he could be a good player, has decent experiance, played in the Champions League for Rangers, won an England cap and played abroad. Hopefully a striker will come in before the transfer door shuts, linked with Collins John, Jermaine Easter and Mido.
What do you guys think of Collins John? Personally I think he is a decent striker who if joins City should blossom. But I've heard some negative news about him, like he is overpriced or inconsistent. I don't watch him week in week out for Fulham, but when I do he seems good. So you guys tell me, you think he is worth it to play for City?
Collins John could be a great addition for the massive City. Im another City supporter. I support City staying up this season and winning it all in 2 years time. Ishmael Miller will soon be the biggest friggin force in the EPL. The kid is a monster, is big, can pass, can shoot and has good vision. Couldnt ask for more in a midfielder. Not to mention the likes of our other youth like Ricahrds, Onouha, Matt Mills, Hart is a decent keeper;), we're ganna be top in due time

Oh, possible meeting with Plymouth. That won't be bad ey Greenegg? :)
Are we in the last 16 now or the last 8? I don't have a fucking clue.
The draw has been kind to us so far, lets hope we get a home draw. Remember, if we're to win the cup we need to have a defining moment. I honestly thought when Micah Richards hit that 95th minute equaliser last season it was going to be our time. Both those wankers West Ham knocked us out, I hope they fucking go down now the cunts.
lol, indeed the draw has been nice to us but at the same time makes u wonder when we will be drawing against a big team..kinda relishing in these proclaimed "easier games" as they are a joy to watch
We have Arsenal or Blackburn away, which effectively means we're out.

Depends who wins the replay. I really cannot see us beating Arsenal at the Emirates. Its a really tough draw, whoever wins the replay, but I'd prefer Blackburn, if we get Blackburn I fancy our chances more then against Arsenal, its a difficult place to go to, Ewood Park, but its winnable. Like I said though its a tough quarter final, whoever gets through the replay.

A takeover eh?
Manchester City could be the next Premiership club to be the subject of a multi-million pound takeover.
City are in discussions with a number of parties about buying out current major shareholders John Wardle and David Makin.
The duo own nearly 30% of the Premiership club.
BBC Sport understands City could even follow the lead of their neighbours, United, Liverpool and Aston Villa and acquire new American owners.
It emerged from Manchester City's annual general meeting in December that the club was in talks with a potential investor.
Chairman John Wardle said at the time: "The board is aware that we need further investment to maintain our challenge in an increasingly competitive and high-finance Premier League.
"We have identified a series of leads regarding possible investment in the club.
"Talks are at a very early stage and accordingly we are not yet in a position to disclose the identity of the possible investor.
"Hopefully, something comes of these talks because I would be prepared to pass the baton on if it allowed the club to get back into the honours."
Interesting...
i think we can hold our own and give Arsenal more then they would be expecting, regardless of whether its at the Emirates, although i know it would be damn tough;)

I've had it with this shit. Corradi and Samaras are both dog shite, Trabelsi looks like he doesnt give a toss and Pearce can fuck off back to London and stay there. He cant cut it at this level and we've been fucked by his abysmal signings. Seriously all the best players have come from the academy (Richards, Ireland, Barton, etc) and other players that were there before Pearce, like Dunne. His best signing was Andy Cole and he's a world of help to us now as he's left. Our only hope really is the FA cup and im sure Blackburn will be quaking in their shoes when the mighty blues come to Ewood (if you've not detected the sarcasm your daft). Hopefully we can still be in the Premiership at the end of the season and might have more money to spend what with a possible take over. Next Premiership game: Chelsea. They might aswell not bother turning up and just get the 3 points. I can see nothing but grey, shit filled skies ahead for us.
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll take points off us.
We have a shit run-in but with 2 games inhand, we should be able to pull ourselves away from the salad dodgers at the bottom.
We still have Villa and Charlton coming to Eastlands. We HAVE to win those two games. I know we will beat United, so that is irrelevant. The shit thing is, we still have to go to fucking Spurs, Middlesbrough and Fulham among other places - can't see us getting much on the road.
Mpenza apparently looked good. The sooner Pearce fucks off Samaras and Corradi the better. It's all very well Pearce saying he wants money but I shudder to think who he'll fucking buy!
Have you got Mpenza already then?
How fitting would it be if City surrender their place in the Premiership to Roy Keane's team?
How fitting would it be if City surrender their place in the Premiership to Roy Keane's team?
How ace would it be, don't you mean?
Have you got Mpenza already then?
He made his debut at the weekend.
I think he could be the fella to nick us a few goals because I don't think we'll go down.
According to The Daily Mirror, skipper Richard Dunne and team-mate Joey Barton are being blanked by a group led by Georgios Samaras, Bernardo Corradi and Sylvain Distin.
Youngsters Micah Richards, Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuha are apparently caught in the middle.
City face Chelsea on Wednesday evening, and a club source told the Mirror: "You could cut the atmosphere with a knife before the game and it's just the youngsters you feel sorry for because they have been put in a difficult position.
"They don't want to be seen to get involved so they are just trying to keep the peace."
Definatly not the best time for the players to be at war.
Well hopefully they can all rally together and put in a good performance in against Chelsea tonight, it must be one of the first times I have wanted Man City to win. If they take any points off of Chelsea I would be delighted.

I honestly can not see us beating Chelsea. Pearce may be a great bloke and all that, but he has been the architect in all of the problems the club are facing. His incompetence in the transfer window has been the big reason. I know its easy to say with hindsight but buying a 30 year old striker, who has never played Premiership football before and wasnt all that great from the start isnt really a sensible thing. Getting rid of Lee Croft and Bradley Wright-Phillips were 2 bad mistakes in my opinion. Ok, Croft was no SWP, but he gives his all and is great to bring off the bench in a game your losing (The FA cup match against Villa anyone? Who chased down and won the corner which lead to Richards goal? Lets not forget his contribution when he came on against Liverpool in Pearce's first win) Getting rid of BWP outright was a bad move, putting him out on loan would have been far better. Buying Isakson was a waste of money. We had Weaver back and 2 promising young goalkeepers in Hart and Schmeichel. Getting rid of Musampa and Riera were 2 bad moves aswell, and then he doesnt buy a left winger until transfer deadline day. Beasley is OK but he's far too light-weight and injury prone. I felt he should have kept Sibierski aswell with Fowler and Cole leaving. Dabo is slow and very average at best, Trabelsi looks like he cant be arsed and Hamann is old and injury prone. In january he doesnt buy a striker despite the fact we're struggling for goals and when he does he goes in for one right at the last minute and fails. We could have easily got Jermaine Easter or Billy Sharpe, who wouldnt have cost much, but no, Pearce buys nobody and is now reaping the rewards.
Another big problem is the fact he doesnt know who to name in the starting 11. Upfront he keeps switching from Vassell and Corradi to Vassell and Samaras. How can you form a partnership if it keeps changing and there is no consistency? Sometimes Beasley starts, sometimes he doesnt. He seems to have fallen out of favour with Trabelsi, because he's no longer starting, same with Dabo. He switches from the 5-3-2 formation to a 4-4-2 for the Wigan game, but when they lost that game, he panics and switches it back to 5-3-2.
As much as I like Pearce, he cant cut it as a manager.
Micah Richards caught in the middle....sounds good. Maybe a little transfer is what the lad needs.
Let's see how he does against Robben. If he can keep him quiet, it will impress Mourinho. In a way, I hope he does, but then I hope he doesn't.
I'm confused :S

Yeah, then Chelsea fuck up his career, just like SWP, Parker and Johnson. Having said that though, he might be a regular starter seeing as Mourinho doesnt seem to have much faith in Ferreira and Geremi.

Pearce has made some stupid mistakes as City manager but he should not be sacked. I agree with you that he is no master tactician and he has terrible judgment when it comes to players. However, I do disagree on how many things you said CB.
Getting rid of Lee Croft and BWP were good decisions, it was obvious that they were not cut out in the Premiership so why not recoup some money for them. Just remember, we can get BWP back for a buyback price, we agreed that when we sold him. So if he does become a great player, we can have him back and he will come back.
Countering this, the mistake he has made was replacing the departing players, so in a sense, you are right. Pearce never replaced Shaun Wright-Phillips or any of our other quality players from recent years. Who came into replace Berkovic, Cole, Fowler, Anelka, Foe (RIP), Bernarbia and Sibierski?
Buying Andreas Isaksson was probably and will prove to be his best signing if he plays the cunt. Nicky Weaver spends all that time injured and just so happens to return when Isaksson gets injured and is just about to make an impact. I love Weaver, but hes not Premiership. Isaksson is the truth.
Getting rid of Musampa and Riera were both good moves, they were two very average players. If Beasley got a decent run in the team and built up some confidence, he'd be a good signing. Getting rid of Antoine Sibierski was a good move to, hes shit and never done enough for City because we never played him in the correct role.
The likes of Ousmane Dabo and Didi have taken far too long to settle in, I thought Hamann and Barton would form an incredible partnership but it hasn't happened. I actually rate Trabelsi, but hes too steady. Apparently hes late to training everyday and is very easy going, it seems as if hes created a comfortable niche for himself.
As for the strikers, I don't know what to fucking say. Vassell looks really impressive in flashes but thats it, flashes. Hes a terrible finisher, has no confidence and is now a has-been. Corradi is an embarassment and Samaras has gone from a rough diamond to a cremated piece of shite in just one season.
The only players of real quality we have are Isaksson (if he gets a pissing game), Micah Richards, Joey Barton, Stephen Ireland and Daniel Sturridge. All of them, apart from Isaksson, are fucking graduates from our youth academy. Our academy is the only thing worth being proud of.
I am confident we can stay in the league but only because the teams below us have been dire.

I quite liked Croft, always impressed me whenever he came on with his hardwork, aggression and looked like he cared about the club. He was no class winger though, but when things arent going well sometimes you need the qualities he had, and sometimes this season whenever we've been a goal down or not playing too well, there doesnt really seem to be anyone to come off the bench to turn it round. I didnt know that we could get BWP back.
True, and its showing alot this season, particularly in the striking department.
Weaver has been really on form and if your playing well you deserve your place. Isaksson is a quality keeper, but I'd rather have that money spent on trying to get a striker.
I thought Musampa was pretty good, got a few goals and seemed all right, I didnt really see much of Reira. Beasley cant really get a run in the team, because things keep getting changed. You've hit the problem with Sibierski. We played as a left sided player or central midfielder, I thought he looked best played as like a support striker. I would much rather have him upfront then Corradi or Samaras.
I dont rate Dabo at all, very average player. I was excited when we got Hamann too, I still think he can make an impact, aslong as he keeps injury free and has a good run in the team. Trabelsi is good, but sometimes he looks lazy and doesnt play aswell as he could do. I remember watching him one match and he didnt seem to want to really run at the opposition and he has a lot of pace. It was as if he was thinking "This isnt really my game" and seemed content to put in little effort.
As for the strikers, I don't know what to fucking say. Vassell looks really impressive in flashes but thats it, flashes. Hes a terrible finisher, has no confidence and is now a has-been. Agree with everything there. Samaras was better when he first came and has just completely fallen.

Poor performance by Man City tonight.
Bit harsh that. Overall I thought it was quite good, but it was the old problem of goalscoring. Cech had nothing to do.
They had a nice defence tonight.. but they attacked like a bunch of pigs, they had some good attempts, but ofcourse, Terry and Cech are there to defend.
They're just not good enough I'm afraid. Its frightening because I don't think we're capable of scoring another goal this season.
You're bound to score past us, it pains me to say.
Darius will probably have is only decent game of the season too.
Original?
15-03-2007, 01:11
We will not score a goal when our only method of attack is to aimlessly loft the ball into the box, especially not against a team of Chelsea's calibre. I can't remember the last time we actually tried to play good football? Our most inventive player could possibly have been Richard Dunne... that says enough.
Out of interest what is everyone's position on Pearce?
Stuart Pearce should keep his position for the time being, I don't see the reason in sacking at him at this point of the season.
If we stay up. I'd give him the summer to see what he does and I'd probably give him 5-10 games in the new campaign. If its still the same old shit, then he has to go.
If we go down. Then he'll probably be sacked. Going down wouldn't actually be a bad thing in my opinion. We could have a complete clear-out, bring in some fresh new players and have a crack at the Premiership again.
Pearce has unfortunately created his own problems. Hes done a great job of clearing out the deadwood from the Keegan era, but has now brought in his own stack of deadwood. Also, I don't see a decent replacement for Nicolas Anelka or Shaun Wright-Phillips.
As much as I'd like to see a new manager and fresh batch of new players, I'd love City to stay in the Premiership and get that money. We fucking need it. I'm just scared who Pearce will buy if he is armed with real cash.
Original?
16-03-2007, 14:08
I'd like to see him shipped out at the end of the season regardless... it's plainly obvious that he is technically and tactically defficient. Even if he manages to keep us in the Premiership, he will have only amended in part for some of his earlier mistakes. He has taken an under achieving top ten team and turned us into true relegation battlers...
I don't think it would be fair to replace him at this point, not to the players or the new manager coming in. I do not want him to be in charge for any point of the transfer window, I feel it'd give us the best chance to get a new manager in before the new season so he can work his way with the team and get them ready for the new season and bring in the faces he wants.
Saying that, who would be the right replacement for Stuart Pearce at Manchester City?

I think we can get a point at Newcastle. Winning would be nice but we don't have a great record at St James' Park.
We have to beat both Villa and Charlton at home and we have to pick up points at places like Fulham and Watford. Hopefully then we can drag a few more teams into the mess. It's all pretty close.

Were we as shit as Sky made us out? I can't believe roeder took off dyer and solano to bring on milner and Sibierski. If we need a goal shit decisions like that don't make any sense and can cost us. Even though we are top of the bottom half were could easily be dragged down we lose the next two games
1-0 against Newcastle.
2-0 against Middlesbrough.
I cannot complain with that. Plus we were missing Micah and Ireland at St James' Park today. I'm delighted we got a win there. I think I said in a previous post that Mpenza would grind out a few goals and he has.
Michael Johnson is the next it seems in a long line of City academy products. He looks really stylish, like a young Nicky Butt but better.
Hopefully we can get the win needed at Charlton then push on and have a good finish, give Danny a few games, get him scoring a few goals and lift the confidence around the place.

Fulham away on easter monday. Tricky away game, but Fulham arent doing too well themselves, so another away win is a possibility. Im pretty dissapointed with the draw against Charlton, when you consider all the chances we had and just dominated the first half. All those corners and not one led to a goal. We are we so bad at home? I think Vassell should be played as a striker, rather then like a sort of support striker as he's being deployed now, sometimes during the Charlton game Mpenza was on his own upfront, isolated with no one to pass to. If think he'll be more effective if Vassell was upfront with him, plus Vassell will also get goals.

I've been hoping for Beasley to start a match and apparently he done well and scored a good goal.
Now lets fucking end the season with some confidence.
Will Corradi still be playing for us next season? I fucking hope not.

Manchester City have suspended Joey Barton for the rest of the season after he hit team-mate Ousmane Dabo in training, BBC Sport understands.
Dabo had to go to hospital after sustaining injuries to his mouth during the incident at Carrington on Tuesday
Great time to get suspended, well done Joey ;)
Says on Sky Sports that they have suspended an unnamed player....
Manchester City have announced they have suspended a player until the end of the season.
The ban has been handed out after a reported training ground bust-up between Joey Barton and Ousmane Dabo.
City confirmed that action had been taken against an as yet un-named player - who will not appear for the club again this season, including Saturday's derby clash with Manchester United.
"We can confirm that a player has been suspended until the end of the season, pending an internal investigation into a training incident at the Carrington complex," said the club’s Head of Communications Paul Tyrrell.
"The club will be making no further comment at this time."

One very good season, followed by one mediocre season - isn't that jumping the gun a bit, by saying you should sell him?
One very good season, followed by one mediocre season - isn't that jumping the gun a bit, by saying you should sell him?Not really if you'd have actually saw the level of performances he has made this season. Personally if he doesn't show any sign of improvements due to our financial situation I'd try and sell him while his stock is still quite high so we can get some decent money out of it. Then again perhaps his poor form has been down to the managerial incompetencies and the role he has been asked to play this season.
I used to be one of Parker's biggest fans by the way so this is no knee-jerk reaction, far from it. Ever since that collision with Jimmy Bullard and the believe he has that he is some kind of box to box midfielder which is far from the case he has been atrocious.
I'd rather get gang raped then have Lee Bowyer anywhere near Manchester City FC.
I say it's time for Pearce to go. His signings have been shit and I wouldn't trust him with £1m let alone £20m.
Hopefully during the summer we can get a little bit of investment through some new owners. Get a new manager in with a pedigree and bring in some fresh faces. It seems that when we get rid of all our deadwood, we bring a load more shit in. It has to fucking stop.
Also Jonny, fuck off if you're going to talk about Newcastle :D

Will Stuart Pearce still have the managerial position for another season? I have gutty feelinig yes, because of his 'personality'.
If he does, atleast make the first buy of the season a worthy purchase. Not the likes of Dickov, Corradi.
And by his standards, Samaras has had a terrible season.

I bloody well hope he doesnt. WTF was he thinking today, playing Jordan who is going to leave?! Why not play a young defender coming through the academy for a bit of experiance? No Miller or Sturridge involved today is another joke. Pearce has had his chance as manager and should go, where have we gone in the 2 seasons under him? Absolutly nowhere, if anything we've gone steadily and steadily backwards.
Pearce will proberbly try and go for Mido, which is a bad move as the guy is trouble and his ego will make it worse.
If no big changes are made in the summer I can see nothing but grey shit filled skies ahead and a fight to stay in the League.
Thank the fucking lord that is over!
We need BIG changes this summer. They pretty much start at the top of the club with hopefully, new fucking owners.
This ex-Thai dictator cunt is apparently going to sink £160m into the club so it's not all doom and gloom. Apparently theres going to be a £50m transfer warchest, which I'm pretty excited about.
Once that is sorted, I'd change the manager. I like Pearce but he just isn't up to it. He tries hard I'm sure he does but we're no better off than what we were when Keegan was in charge. We've gone fucking backwards. We play terrible football and some big changes are needed in personnel. I'd fuck him off and all his phoney backroom staff who are meant to be so brilliaint. Also, if we're getting investment, I don't Pearce spending that money.
Big changes needed in the squad. I'd get rid of half of the squad because it's very average to sya the least. I can think of at least 10 I'd get rid of. The hardest part is getting better players to replace them, who is going to want to join us?
I have a good source that we could be going for Djibril Cisse. That could be a wonderful signing potentially. Also the move for Mido could be back on.
Anyway, new kit is unveiled tomorrow with new kit supplier, Le Coq Sportif.
Lets look forward to busy a summer and expect our first summer signing this week.

Louis Van Gaal, Ronald Koeman, Claudio Reneiri, Gerard Houllier are the foreign names we've been linked with. Also been linked with Mark Hughes, Billy Davies, Chris Coleman, Paul Simpson, but I dont think it will be a British manager.
8 players have been released, Sinclair, Jordan, Beasley, Trabelsi, Nathan D'Laryea, Abdoun, Laurence Matthewson and Ashley Williams have gone. The only one we should have kept was Beasley, now yet again we're going to be scratching around for a left winger, unless we use Miller in that position and I have high hopes for him despite a slightly hit and miss season.
I have a good source that we could be going for Djibril Cisse. That could be a wonderful signing potentially. Also the move for Mido could be back on.

Please no. We need a striker that can actually score goals. Cisse? No way. Steer clear.

Cisse has one thing. Pace. His finishing is woefull. Any Liverpool fan will tell you he has been poor for them. He scored alot for Auxerre, but the French League is different cheese. I've heard he has been shite for Marseille during his loan spell, his own fans were booing him! Those two leg breaks have taken their toll.

Not all that sad to see him go personally. True, he was one of our best defenders and should be in the France National Team, despite his occasional lapses in concentration which have cost us at times, but overall he's solid. However he's not the "be all and end all" of our defence, Dunne is more important. Him going will also mean Onouha and Richards will both be able to start, one playing as centre back.

Hiddink. If only. Easy to like, disciplined (wonder how Barton would handle that), and has a talent of making mediocre teams play above themselves, without necessarily paying huge transfer fees. Definitely my favourite choice.
Eriksson would be a good manager for City at the right time. New money coming in, great facilities and an amazing stadium. Anyone thinking of his days back with Lazio? You never know...
Ranieri. I like the guy, but sometimes he can be a little unpredictable. I have trouble figuring out his thought process. Fact is that he did well with Chelsea and would essentially taking them through the same growth curve (pre-Abramovich). Never say never.

Who would you get rid of? Who would you go for realistically?
Looking at the current first team squad, I'd only keep Isaksson, Dunne, Richards, Onuoha, Johnson, Ireland, Mpenza and Sturridge.
So on the basis of that, we need several quality players in.

Ishmael Miller I'd maybe give a chance but I can't see him becoming a Premiership player. Hence why he nearly joined Leeds not long ago.
Georgios Samaras is fucking terrible. Apparently Heerenveen want him back for £2m, thats superb news. Feyenoord and Olympiakos have also been linked. In all fairness, I wouldn't mind if the club PAID to get rid of him and the likes of Corradi and Dabo etc
Nicky Weaver hasn't got a great deal to offer now. Isaksson is the number one and we have young Joe Hart coming through. Weaver has had his chance, now unfortunately, it's time for him to move on.
I liked Trabelsi but his attitude stinked apparently and he did seem slightly lightweight.
I'd prefer it if we got proven players in with experience and that little bit of quality you need. Theres no good buying talented youngsters, we already have enough in the first team squad.
id love city to sign van der vaat. and the russian Izmailov. and maybe a defender like Heitinga from ajax. a striker like defoe or smith.

Rolando Bianchi is a good quality signings, a promising omen. He's very good already having, I'm sure you know, banged in eighteen goals last term. He plays on the last shoulder of sorts, but is also rather strong and can hold up the ball, he's certainly useful in the air as well. If we have someone who can get the ball in the box he will score a fair few goals for us. I'm rather pleased with this signing and I see him (hopefully) doing well.
As long as hes better than the current crop then I don't care really. People are already worrying that we've signed the new Bernardo Corradi but surely this cunt can't be that bad?
Apparently, Sven is after Giuly, Motta and that lad Nery Castillo now. We're still in discussions to sign Wilhelmsson and a deal for Ljungberg could be close.

Him and Bianchi would be perfect upfront for a season.
Hopefully we also manage to bag Giuly if not Wilhelmsson. I'm undecided about Ljungberg. He can be fantastic when he is on form but recently he hasn't been doing much. But then again maybe a change of teams is what he needs.
I have to say though very positive moves/signings by the club.
And I thought Corradi was leaving, he's still there?!
@ Cadey- how many of those actually speak the language? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I wouldn't have thought Bianchi, Giuly, Motta or Castillo could. All decent players, but that could be a real problem if they all join.

City sure will be strong with those signings!
They are just rumours but the one about Wilhelmsson has been doing the rounds for some time now.
Apparently hes talking to us and Middlesbrough, so it's up to him really.

Gelson Fernandes joined City
Manchester City have swooped to sign highly-rated Swiss midfielder Gelson Fernandes.
The 20-year-old has penned a four-year deal at the City of Manchester Stadium after the two clubs agreed a fee worth 9.5million Swiss francs (£3.8million) - which is a record sale for the Swiss league.
Fernandes has attracted interest from Bolton and Newcastle in previous months, but City have moved to seal their second signing in 24 hours following the arrival of Rolando Bianchi from Reggina.
Fernandes, who is Swiss Under-21 captain, will meet up with City's squad for the first time on Sunday ahead of their pre-season camp in Sweden.
New City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is now firmly looking to stamp his own impression on the squad and more new signings are expected to arrive over the next six weeks.
Reports in Spain on Saturday suggested that City are amongst the clubs competing for the signatures of Barcelona pair Thiago Motta and Ludovic Giuly.
Meanwhile, Eriksson has confirmed the appointment of Hans Backe as his assistant manager.
Backe guided FC Copenhagen to three successive titles and was most recently in charge at Panathinaikos.
Eriksson said: "I've known Hans for a very long time, and I offered him this job but because he has been a manager I didn't know if he would accept.
"He's won three titles with FC Copenhagen, managed in Austria and Turkey, but he accepted the offer and I'm very happy. He has a lot of experience, he knows a
lot of players from around the world and he's a very good coach."

Sven's third summer signing...
Manchester City have signed Geovanni on a one-year deal.
The versatile Brazilian forward has been on trial at Portsmouth this month and scored for Harry Redknapp's side in their pre-season friendly against Yeovil on Saturday.
He had been expected to make a permanent switch to Fratton Park but City have come through to win the race for his signature.
Sven Goran Eriksson has been keeping tabs on Geovanni's progress and has snapped him up on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old passed a medical at City earlier on Monday and a deal has now been finalised after he agreed personal terms.
He becomes Eriksson's third signing as City manager following the arrivals of Rolando Bianchi and Gelson Fernandes.
But the former Barcelona and Benfica player is not set to join his new team-mates on their tour of Sweden.
They could of got better.

City got a pretty lazy player, at least he was here.
Although, I have to admit that he can decide a game in a heart bit, so I believe he'll do some good things in Manchester.
BTW, his best position is behind the striker, I mean second forward, but he usually to play on the right wing, which I don't consider a good idea.
Hes just to bolster our weak squad I'm thinking. That's why hes only been given a short-term contract.
We've been linked with Mark Bresciano today and in my opinion, that would be a brilliaint signing.
I'm also confident that we can get Roque Santa Cruz and Martin Petrov. Apparently, we'd made a bid for Nery Castillo too and Lucho Gonzalez has also been linked.
I'm not too keen on Zlatan and I very much doubt he'd leave Inter for City.

Logan looks like he will be another decent player from the academy.

Obviously nice to see Bianchi score but to my horror, Corradi scored again. Is he actually improving?!
On the transfer front, theres no new names today. Hopefully we can bring in another couple this week to keep us happy. Sven reckons we need another dozen.

Any links to the highlights? I'd be happy to see how a Bianchi/Samaras partnership might work out in a couple of friendlies.
New third strip!

You mean the "Le Coq Sportif" logo? Kit looks class though.
What's that chicken thing on it?
I'd rather have a chicken on our shirt than a cock.
For me, that kit looks horrible.
And Pienaar ended up going to Everton instead. :/
That's probably a good thing Nikos.
That's probably a good thing Nikos.
Probably.
I still have high hopes for our potential signings. It's unfortunate to see Giuly go to Roma instead.
Who else do we have in our sight? Lucho Gonzalez and Bresciano you say? That'll be awesome!
Regarding the strikers, I think it's safe to say we need atleast one more who will play as back up. Corradi should leave, Samaras and Bianchi look decent together (but we need to see more games from them to judge ofcourse) and Mpenza knows a thing or two about scoring. So basically someone to replace Almighty Corradi.
Santa Cruz would be perfect and I agree with Original, I don't want Ibrahimovic who is fucking over-rated.

Won the second game of the tour 4-0. Corradi scored again!:shocking: Bianchi with two and Laird with the other.
We have scored more goals in pre-season then we did in all our home games last Premier League season. 11 goals in 3 games vs 10 goals in 19 games. That is shocking.
Bernardo Corradi scoring again, I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Martin Petrov rumour is doing the rounds again.

there scoring against shit teams though...also no offence but i doubt players like Ibrahimovic & Lucho Gonzalez are gonna join City..
Ibrahimovic will never join City and the majority of us wouldn't want him either.
Lucho Gonzalez will only join City if his move to Valencia doesn't go through. Hes said as much.
Plus, pre-season is about fucking preparation. Getting some game time and some fitness for the new season. It's nice to get good results and its good for the strikers to be getting goals because it'll give them confidence.

Martin Petrov has signed, 4.7m, great news.

That is indeed a good signing, I think he'll do well for us and £4.7m is a fair price. I'm glad we haven't been spending silly money on players. We're apparently looking at Zigic as well, he doesn't inspire me with a great deal of confidence.
I'd rather have a chicken on our shirt than a cock.
Chicken and a cock are the same thing ;)
You're a cock.
Anyway, Martin Petrov is an encouraging signing.
It's a great piece of business too. We're signing Petrov for £4.7m while Sunderland are buying Chopra for a fee that could rise to £5m and Fulham are shelling out £6m for Diomansy Kamara.
I'd love to see us bring in Roque Santa Cruz now. The tall Serbian fella doesn't fill me with confidence.

Martin Petrov could turn out to be one of the best signings of the summer window to be honest. For under 5 million, that is a fucking steal.
We lost on Saturday, 2-0 away in Belgium against Chalerloi.
Apparently, Matthew Mills had an absolute fucking mare. He gave away a penalty for the first and was simply outdone for the second goal. This is the guy who was on loan at Colchester last season and having watched him several times, I think hes shit and Sven should get rid.
We're apparently close to signing Chiellini. Which in my opinion, would be a sensational signing. This guy is going to be a star, I really hope we can lure him to City.
Other names floating about are Nery Castillo, who Olympiakos are prepared to sell and another Bulgarian, Valeri Bojinov, who looked a real talent a few years ago.
Word has it that Sven would like to bring in some new faces this week in preparation for the match against Valencia on Saturday. After seeing them beat Inter today, we need several players to match them.

I can't help feeling Chiellini would be a player best to stay in Italy, despite being very good. Either way I'm pretty happy!
Castillo, has an impressive record but I hope we steer clear of Bojinov because he's a little brat, and has yet to live up to his hype. Something he seems to have failed to realise.
Fernando Meira is a centre-back I'd be delighted to bring in, but he'd cost abot £11m I expect...
Chiellini to city?
lol, I don't know why he would go anywhere right now.

I agree it seems odd that one of the best young talents in Europe would want to join City. I'm not complaining however. I think having Eriksson in charge will help to lure more high profile players to the club.
We've also been heavily linked with a guy called Emerse Fae from Nantes, some sites are even signing we've signed him and it's a done deal for around £4m.
They want to sign because they knew they have made the right choice under Sven..

Fiorentina striker Valeri Bojinov has reportedly joined Manchester City in a deal worth around £5m.
The Bulgarian hitman has been unsettled since the arrival of Christian Vieri at the Stadio Artemio Franchi which left him unlikely to make many appearances in the coming campaign.
Ex-Lazio boss Sven Goran Eriksson’s raid on Serie A continues having already signed Rolando Bianchi from Reggina this summer and allegedly tabled a £7m offer for Juventus’ Giorgio Chiellini.
It is believed that the Sky Blues have upped their offer by around £1m to reach an agreement with the Viola with personal terms still being finalised.
Chievo’s Nigerian prodigy Victor Obinna was expected to replace Bojinov as attacking cover for the Gigliati, but the newly-relegated Flying Donkeys have declared him not for sale for less than £4m.
While the Tuscans may meet that figure, whispers in the Italian Press are now suggesting that Torino's striking starlet Alessandro Rosina may be the alternative.
The highly-rated ex-Parma man is under contract with the Granata until 2009, but it is believed that there have already been meetings between Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino and Toro chief Urbano Cairo.
Is he that bad? He was awesome in his Lecce days.
Original?

Talented? Yes. More trouble than he's worth? Yes.
If he can play like he did in those days, then yes he'd be an excellent signing, but it may well involve us having to build the team around him. I also feel he's too petulent for some of the rough tackling he may receive in the Premiership.
He will be good but hope he doesn't turn out like Castillo..
I really don't know about Valeri Bojinov. I'm more than happy to have him join our mediocre squad but I do fear he could have a tantrum if he doesn't get his own way.
It's been a busy day today. We can continue to be linked with Elano, who we're apparently signing for just over £7m, a Croatian defender from Dinamo Zagreb and a fella from Real Sociedad.
Bojinov has confirmed on a Bulgarian website that he is to be joining City and is looking forward to be playing alongside Martin Petrov.
Sky Sports are reporting that we've agreed a deal of around £8m for this Croatian defender, sorry can't remember his name, from Zagreb.
It's been saying for ages online now that Elano Blumer will join for £7.4m.
and finally, Chris Coleman has confirmed that his player, Garrido I think his name is, is joining us for around £2m.

Javier Garrido, left back? That could be good.

Very good player on FM, although that's not much to go on.
You guys have made some good signings. If you get Elano, it would be really good signing for you. He's a very talented player. Concerning Bojinov, I don't know much about his "attitude" but I heard some time back that he has great potential. He's 21 or 22 years old, I think.

Garrido has signed for 1.5m and Corluka for an undisclosed fee. For 1.5m thats a great signing, now there is more defensive options and competition which is good.
Elano has also joined for 8m. Could be a wonderful aquisition.
Really really great signings by Sven and I'm sure City could make an impact this season..
I don't know much about the two defenders but Elano is a terrific player.
Valeri Bojinov should complete his move before the weekend and there may be more new arrivals next week.
I'm glad you guys made these signings! I'll be very looking forward for the Manchester derby, should be cracking game!

I would like to see how he does in the prem.
Sven has confirmed that there could be more to come next week.
He stated that he wanted 8 defenders, 8 midfielders and 4 strikers.
Now, he has the hard task of getting rid of all the shit we have.
Mark Bresciano will be the next, you heard it here first....
Manchester City want Antonio Cassano - here comes trouble?
http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z68/dmitris/20061031102656.jpg
Ever heard of Antonio Cassano? He’s like Italy’s answer to Craig Bellamy – cool finisher with a hot head and an overrated opinion of himself who regularly falls out with teammates and managers alike.
Well, his career continues to mirror the mardy faced Welshman as he looks like leaving a European giant for a smaller club with big money and a new manager. Rumours are that Sven it trying to bring Italy’s enfant terrible from Real Madrid to Man City – although for an initial fee of around £2m, he looks better value.
If he does arrive he’ll be one of several managers attempting to tame a tainted genius this season – there’s Bellamy at West Ham and Barton at Newcastle for starters.
Can they be controlled or are they bad boys for life?

Cassano doesn't compare to Bellamy, he's a far better player. For £2m he might be worth it if Eriksson can control him and get the best out of him, but to be honest I expect him to be better off going back to Serie A.

I full expect Bianchi to get us the goals we missed last season, fifteen if he plays enough, one down fourteen to go. He's not a playmaker despite being an Italian number ten, but he will get us goals, and important ones.
We've been crying out for a fucking playmaker since Ali Benarbia packed his bags. Elano could be the answer. He looked terrific in flashes today and hopefully, when hes alot fitter and stronger, he can give the team a real boost.
Martin Petrov looks a player too.
We have so much more quality than last season just with those two players. I also expect Bianchi to flourish and hopefully Bojinov to put himself about a bit.
The defence looked fairly sound today. Considering we were away at a ground like Upton Park, they performed incredibly well. I'm very happy.

Elano could indeed be our new playmaker. He looked brilliant with his runs, passing and flashes.
When I first saw Bianchi I said to myself "another tall striker all up front" but apparently he's got the skills and pace!
Martin Petrov looked very dangerous in the opening few minutes, he looks a great buy. Him and Elano could be one hell of a creative force.
Geovanni was another good one. I guess his positioning got his goal. He could have scored a 2nd one too. All in all, to bring a player like him off the bench is excellent.
The defence performed very well and it's great to have that feeling of a clean sheet, something we've been lacking for a long time. Schmeichel despite not having much to do, looked positive.
First game of the season though so let's keep our heads cool. It was a great game and let's hope this continues for a long, long time.
Geovanni should of got that second one but it was a superb save. We should be fucking top of the league!
No, lets no get carried away. Being City, they'll probably lose to Derby now on Wednesday night you see.
So City fans how was Geovanni performed?

Just need Daniel Sturridge to go out on loan now. Crewe have been sniffinf around for him so it could happen.
