Apparently, it's not only a rip off but also cheap and tacky.
It doesn't update teams or players, just changes a few names.
I could send you a better option file!
(Don't worry evertonarelush, memory card files aren't warez)

It's not just a matter of laziness.
Do you know how much time and patience it takes to make all the:
Club kits and flags.
Club transfers.
Name/appearance fixes (thank you david beckham!)
It took me over a month of just tapping X on the darn controller to fix everything. If anyone wants to spend £18 on an X-Port, it would be very much worth it to get and try the various option files available.
(I like mine the best though!)

Yeah I'm getting it from play.com (http://www.play.com)
There was no chance I was gonna pay £30 for it elsewhere!

it took you a month?!? it took me a saturday late night(like 1 or 2) to sunday early morning(7 or 8) and then i just went to bed(ok, i was out at a club and then i got home but i wasnt tired so i played pro evo)
Zygalski

Yes it took that long.
What did you edit, as it doesn't sound like you've done everything.
It takes ages to do all the club kits accurately and that's not even mentioning the flags....
I mean for every single team, not just a few.
Gooner, a few people have gone through all the time and effort to fix everything, like Tim and myself.
So it is the best option to take advantage of just downloading them rather than spending all the time.

I explained how much I did and how long it takes.
If you're happy with you did that is good for you.
It's your choice. I didn't tell you to do anything.
Each to their own.
Hmmm, make my own option file OR try out a quality option file that some1 else has already made and edit to suit myself?
I'd have to choose the latter :D

Not at all.
But it doesn't sound like it is as much as some other people have done.
If you explain what it was you have edited, it would be easier to discuss.

Doing all the flags from scratch takes over a day.
Fixing all the names takes over a day.
That's just for me.
If you're so good, you should help people in the editing section.

Nope, because I did it myself.
It takes time, not very long but still it's my perosnal time. So why can't others do the same?
Zygalski
24-05-2003, 10:41
What does that mean, yourself?
I did it myself too and I explained this above, in case you didn't know.
We could get into a deep discussion of exactly what was edited.
To save time, do you have an X-Port?
We can look at each others option files and then be done with the whole thing.

I asked that because you get upset about people making assumptions about your poorly-worded statements.
Maybe you should have said that in the first place.
If you are not going to contribute anything to help anyone else, that is a selfish attitude.

If I don't reply, it may seem as though you are talking correctly which in most cases you are not.

I did not slate your decision to help others, I actually said quite clearly that I felt it was lazy and would be more beneficial to do it themselves. Being correct is a matter of opinion, in some cases saying your always right would be wrong vice versa, therefore do not say that you are correct because some people may disagree with you.

If someone was new to PES2, would you still want people to be editing their own game in September or just download the files, seeing as PES3 would be close to release?

Well your question was pretty shit and had no real answer.
If it takes 12 hours to a dayto edit the game, why would they be editing till September?
Your question is rather pathetic and over-dramatic.
The fact is it's laziness getting the work of others. You can't do it at school why do it here?
Zygalski
24-05-2003, 11:54
OK. I will simplify. Someone who has never played PES2 or heard of Konami before is given PES2 for his birthday in September or around that time.
Would you expect them to edit it all themselves or not?
Also, are you saying you would rather create the option file for having all of the Serie A or Premier League teams rather than downloading it?

Why would you buy PES2 in September, wouldn't you wait? If he is given it, he has to learn how to play it, why not learn how to edit it?
I would make my own option files, because to me it will then be my work.
You do not need to simplify things for me. If you had stated your question more obviously then I would have understood.

I think we can agree to disagree here.
Some people aren't in touch with things so they could buy PES2 at that time. I mean there are people who buy FIFA all the time, aren't there?!
Happy birthday again.

Er, it was finished 3 hours ago.
whatever, we still have to read through all this :(
Funny read tho :D
I was wondering why a topic about the UU/edited option files was getting so many replies.
I would chip in my 50 cents but I don't want to add unnecessary fuel to an extinguished fire.
So how about that PES3, kidding :D

i have to agree wit Zygalski on this whole situation about the person getting the game in september time or rather close to when the next one comes out, if they have come over from the fifa community they may well not be aware of the release date of the next title in the series! and they stilll have to take time to master the game before they go editing everything its just an easyer option to use what others have done for you and are willing to share with you, Zygalski u have got the right ideas ignor gooner!

Well this is an extinguished fire, but I will add my own two cents.
There was never untill the last couple of posts any examples for me. So to say I am being harsh on our example buyer is pretty harsh on me. The fact is I am pleased that I edited things myself. It seems the people that agree with Zygalski are the people I would have expected. Take that as you will.
P.S Stop using an example against me. In the orignal posts it was never made hence my diasagreement.
P.P.S Smith_Gamer you have my msn i'm always available for English lessons whenever you want them. ;)

why do the x-port??its much much more expensive!!!all you have to do is follow the options on this website and also, some of the sample flags are just like real club's with a few colour alterations, so it doesnt actually take that long. it took me longer fixing every player's name.
Zygalski

Customising your option file takes a lot of effort.
That is OK.
But if you wake up one day and your PS2 says that the option file is corrupt or damaged or you accidentally deleted it, having an X-Port backup file can save the day and a lot of time and effort.
Plus you can email goals or other files to friends or websites.
And you can download and experiment with option files consisting of Serie A or the full English Premiership.
£17.99 for all this isn't too much.
The backing up ability is the main reason I bought mine, like a fall back. I have managed to some way make my option file useless, sometimes through fault of my own, others through random natural causes (like a power cut when saving). And I can't always keep all my files on 1 memory card (although I do have about 3 or so now).
I hated having to choose which goals I can keep and which I have to delete, but with the xport I can put them away for safe keeping and bring them out whenever. :)
Lisbon67Seville03
25-05-2003, 20:46
good points. i just wish they werent so damned expensive! maybe Konami should release one with PES3 as kind of an add-on.
Zygalski
25-05-2003, 23:21
An X-Port is cheaper than a memory card (official) or any (new) PS2 game.
randyman
26-05-2003, 20:07
approxamately what sizes are the option files.
how many megabytes
Zygalski
26-05-2003, 20:33
PES2 Option file = 236 KB
PES2 Goal replays = 301 KB
PES2 Master League = 350 KB
PES2 Formation file = 43 KB
PES2 Cup Save = 129 KB (not sure if this is for all types)
PES1 option file = 179 KB
WE6:FE option file = 473 KB.
Lisbon67Seville03
26-05-2003, 21:27
i get my memory cards for free(i do work at GAME tho, so thats probably why)but even then, you can save all of the PES2 information on one quarter of a memory card(actually much much less) and still have room for other games. take it from me, i have a huge PS2 game collection(i recently reached the 35 game mark with my purchase of Enter The Matrix)
I got roughly 20 replays i think...its taking a hell of alot of room up but hopefully my X-Port will arrive 2morrow morning :D
I think its gonna be worth the £18...and anyway I've gone halfers with a m8 (I'm keeping X-Port here) so its only a mere £9 :P
Lisbon67Seville03
26-05-2003, 22:00
i suppose thats the best way to go. i agree that an xport saves time. but for those of us with a low cash sum, people like me, it isnt easy to find even 18 quid when you're constantly borrowing off of m8s. i do, however, get free stuff and discounts cuz i work in game, id hate to see how much smash i'd have if i had to pay full price.
Zygalski
26-05-2003, 22:08
I agree with Mike regarding the goal saves.
Sometimes you have to decide which to delete when you score a great one and it is tough.
Especially if you are regularly scoring great goals! ;)
Lisbon can you tell us why Game do not sell X-Ports?
If they did they would sell a lot.
Use your inside influence!
Lisbon67Seville03
26-05-2003, 22:11
i have asked my manager many times and he has said it's immoral. which is a pretty bad excuse if you ask me. if they sell cheat discs and gamesharks and update discs, why not sell x-ports?? he did say, however, that times might change(he is a pretty vague guy in his answers)and he might consider selling them if they company agreed. but my advice, dont hold your breath, it wont be for a while. just get them independently, which i think is better for the smaller companies.
Hmmm, would be nice if Game did sell X-Ports...would make things a bit easier and would sell loads like Zygalski said BUT honestly, I believe they'd sell them @ £30 a piece :(
Lisbon67Seville03
26-05-2003, 22:29
i agree, we are way overpriced and it is quite ridiculous.
Zygalski
26-05-2003, 22:32
Strange comment about it being immoral. In what way?
The only negative thing about them is they reduce the sales of memory cards, very very slightly.
Oh well.
Lisbon, can you give us an honest opinion about which is better in the long run between buying official Sony items such as mem cards and multi-taps or buying the cheap alternatives?
I say honest not in implying you're not but because shop people usually just say what is best for business rather than what is best for the customer.
Since you're 'in the know' I'd like your opinion. What type are most of your mem cards?
Lisbon67Seville03
27-05-2003, 14:07
in my opinion, it is always trustworthy to go with official sony items, as they will refund you fully, etc. etc. but i have no problem with the other ones. if it is £10 or above, then it works just as well. memory cards are usually best as official sony, but multi-taps and stuff like that, it doesnt matter what the make was.
