I'm surprised also, i like Valencia but havnt followed them as much as i'd like too lately, glad i didnt this weekend, lost 3-0 but they didnt have Villa, though the team is capable of doing well without him

Roberto Ayala and Vicente Rodriguez were missing too. They've had a torrid time with injuries this season. Was Ayala dropped because of his announcement about joining Villarreal, or was he carrying a minor injury, Sousa?
Also, what's the news on Timo Hildebrand? Is he joining Valencia at the end of the season?
it was a major possibility but Flores says he is very confident in Butelle, as am i as he has done amazing when called upon. But leave it to Carboni to go out and splash money on people that Flores does not want (Tavano) Carboni is a one man wrecking ball trying to fucking ruin Valencia...jerk. You will all find out in time how much i hate the guy, hated him as a player and now cant stand him behind a desk. Never consults the team or anything, just buys who he wants.
Ayala was dropped to see if they could cope without him, but Flores said him joining Villarreal at the end of the season would be an indication to play him more to get the most out of him. Marchena did a decent job although i dont see him being a regular anymore and we could keep him as cover for Albiol and a CB that we bring in in the summer. WE NEED to get rid of David Navarro and Curro Torres, and Del Horno, regardless of whether he has played or not...SOON. They are all just a waste of time although Torres does a decent job when used, but i cant stand Del Horny or Navarro.
Valencia have once again proved that if you have players who fight for the team badge, rather then the name on the back, you will do great. Played a good 7-10 games with 8 players out. 5-6 games with 8 STARTERS out and yet we still managed to climb back up and get into the top 3 before dropping last weekend. Vicente will be played this weekend i think and Baraja might be given a good 15 mins as he is not going to be rushed because he is a monster with Albelda.
Well just so you guys know, im a die hard Valencia fan and love them, but i will not be biased as i know our weak points, also a few here know that i rate players a lot differently then others as i look far past the highlights and *glimmer*...
Welcome Sousa you big homo. Ace are going down
On the subject of Valencia they havent had great form lately have they?
They have been playing well of late barring last weekend.
They'll hopefully have another shit weekend against Barça :)
far from buddy;)...we had a slip up and for some reason have not faired well against Getafe this term only beating them once 1-0. :(. We always seem to play out of our skins against Barca and Madrid:D:D We do have a 7 match unbeaten run against Barca too;) and i dont see it ending this weekend. COME ON LOS CHES

What a fantastic free-kick from David Villa. Not a bad strike from David Silva either. ;)
Two important away goals, but you should have enough to beat Inter at the Mestalla, anyway.

I agree. That was a superb free-kick by Villa. Brilliant curl on it.
Yeah, hopefully they will continue this form into La Liga with a win over Nastic.
Almost all the group winners look to be going through. Valencia just need 0-0 or 1-0 or 1-1 in their home leg.
I thought Inter would cruise to a victory, I guess 16 straight wins don't count for shit in the champions league.

Without wanting to belittle their achievement, the standard of opposition in Serie A is the worst it's been in god knows how many years, so Inter are probably a little over-rated because of that record - which isn't quite as good as it sounds - and it's also a step-up for them, facing a force such as Valencia who, judging by the highlights i've seen, looked pretty sharp going forward, and both goals were unstoppable.
indeed we played well, atlhough many said inter were all over us. In the first parts of the game, yea they were all over us, but you cant expect a defende including Albiol, Miguel and Moretti to crumble man. Albelda was run around today, wasn't his usual attack killing self. Villa's goal was amazing and from a fair distance away as well, really sparked us. Silva's volley had eyes because i was sure we would go home with one away goal, but that volley was deemed to go in, perfect placement although i dont think he meant it to be that good lol.
taking 2 back home to Valencia is huge for us. Flores is not one to sit back and hope for a 0-0,1-1,1-0 or that. He wants blood really as Valencia believe that they have something to prove to Europe after their one year absence:D. I expect us to play until we get at least a 1-0 lead at the Mestella and then possibly drain inter and control the game. Silva filled in well for Vicente who should be back next week i believe. Baraja will be back for the second leg against Inter, so the center of the mid will be a fucking wall once again.
Missed the game but caught parts of it, we looked fine, didnt stress after going one down, twice, and kept our heads, typical Valencia:D:D
You guys blew it right at the end against Nastic.

Castro popped up and punished a woeful Valencia.
Villa is not playing as well as I expected.
Villa is not playing as well as I expected.
i agree, villa is way better than he is actually these days, Valencia is my favorite Spanish team, i know what they are capable of, and i think that today is our day with inter!
I'm betting my life on this one!! crossed fingers and i think villa is going to be our man in this match...
Villa is not as good as last season because he doesn't have Aimar supporting him. Now it's only Morientes along with him, which doesn't really help him. If Valencia can secure an attacking midfielder with great vision, that'd be great for Villa.

But Villa might be going to the prem.
You've shot yourself in the foot might, might be going, doesn't mean he is, and I'm pretty sure he'll probably stay at Valencia, unless he gets a really really good offer.

Impressive performance by Valencia after the setback in midweek. Joaquin was fantastic, easily his best performance in a Valencia shirt.
If Vicente and Edu hadn't been out for such long periods again, who knows how this season might have turned out for Los Che?
Villa was immense. He took his first goal very well and you know he will not miss from the penalty spot. That little piece of skill he done was amazing. Alves should of asked to be substituted straight after it!
I quite like Sevilla, but Navarro seems to be a cunt.

That is a potential B Team for Valencia next season. If they don't suffer the same bad luck with injuries as they did last season, the rest of La Liga had better watch out.
This being, arguably, their strongest side on paper...
GK: Canizares
LB: Moretti
CB: Albiol
CB: Alexis
RB: Miguel
DM: Albelda (captain)
CM: Baraja
LM: Vicente
RM: Joaquin
ST: Morientes
ST: David Villa
I reckon Hildebrand will take over as first choice keeper in this season.
I really don't like Baraja, so hopefully Edu is picked ahead of him. I think Edu would give more to the team also, but of course he must stay fit first. The midfield could change if Lucho Gonzalez is purchased.
How good is Alexis?
Scarface
22-07-2007, 13:21
Lucho would be a very good addition. He could work well alongside Albelda, but I doubt it'll happen as numerous clubs are chasing him, and most need him more than Valencia, and could offer more first team football.
Alexis was good for Getafe, although I was expecting Los Che to sign an experienced defender such as Jorge Andrade to replace Ayala, and continue to aid Albiol's development.

They signed Helguera from Madrid who had a good season.

Do you think he'll be a starter? I was expecting him to be a fringe player for them.
I think he will be a fringe player also. I know it was on a free, but I don't see why Valencia bothered going for him

I can't see Vicente starting ahead of David Silva or Rubens Baraja starting ahead of Edu. I think Hildebrand will be the new number one.
I expect Quique Sanchez Flores' line up to look something like this:
GK Hildebrand
RB Miguel
CB Marchena
CB Alexis
LB Moretti
RM Joaquin
CM Edu
CM Albelda
LM David Silva
SS David Villa
CF Morientes
Flores has got a good team at his disposal. As well as the signings of Alexis, Arizmendi, Helguera, Hildebrand, Mata and Sunny, Estoyanoff and Caneira have also returned from their loan spells.
Inter vs Valencia in the Emirates Cup today, maybe we'll see another brawl.

Vicente is back :w00t
Might take him some time to return to full fitness, but hopefully he'll stay injury free for the rest of the season now. He deserves some luck.
However, Valencia's attack is going to suffer with no David Villa or David Silva.
Big changes are needed, and i'm surprised Quique Sanchez Flores hasn't been shown the door already. The squad has been left unbalanced. When Roberto Ayala left, it was clear they needed to sign a world class replacement. Raul Albiol, who looked impressive at times last season, now looks lost without the guidance of Ayala. Moretti is poor, Alexis, like Albiol, is quite a good defender, and has potential, but Marchena and Helguera certainly aren't the answer.
Manuel Fernandes is a fine midfielder, but why splash out £12m on him, when you've already got Albelda, Baraja, Edu and Sunny competing for the central midfield spots? Also, the combined total of around £17m for Zigic and Arizmendi, neither of whom are particularly special. The £30m should have been spent on a world class defender like Andrade, a better left back, and a top notch strike partner for David Villa.
Flores' signings have been poor, and a lot of the performances (including tonight) have been even worse.

Mourinho has been linked with the vacant Valencia post.
I'm pretty sure he'd do well there. Turn things round a bit.
Looka here, http://pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=53740
If Mourinho does decide to manage Valencia, hopefully he can turn them into the force they once were.
Ronald Koeman has agreed to become the new coach of Valencia.
The former Benfica coach has quit his role with Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven to take up the vacancy at La Mestalla.
Valencia sacked Quique Sanchez Flores on Monday morning and have wasted little time in finding his successor.
Koeman confirmed on Wednesday that he was moving to Spain.
He must be wondering what he has got himself in for.

The defence was abysmal again tonight, but then that's not surprising when you lose one of the best centre backs in the world and replace him with Ivan Helguera.
Koeman is going to have a tough job papering over the cracks in defence until January. I'd like to see him then try and bring in Carlos Salcido from his former club, to give the defence some balance, and a top class centre half and left back.
They have had wretched luck with injuries over the past 12-18 months, but when a few more players regain fitness, he's got a lot of talented players in the squad to work with.

I can see Salcido and Zonneveld moving. The later is decent
Koeman's teams are really known for their attacking flowing football so I'm not sure if he's going to go down too well with the Che fans. Saying that they did use to be managed by Benetiz so I'm sure they're use to it.
Banega is a good capture, heard Albelda is going to court so he can take his place immediately.
