Nationality: Brazilian

Amauri Carvalho de Oliveira, better known as Amauri, plays as striker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Striker) for Italian Serie A team U.S. Città di Palermo.

After two seasons in Switzerland for Challenge League team AC Bellinzona, Amauri was signed by Parma and immediately loaned to Napoli in January 2001, making his Serie A debut on April 14 in a league match against Bari. He then played for Piacenza (Serie A, 2001/2002), Messina (Serie B, 2002/2003), and Chievo Verona from 2003 to 2006. During his time for Chievo, and especially in the 2005/2006 season, ended with a qualification to the preliminary phase of UEFA Champions League (also favoured by the 2006 Serie A scandal which involved most of the top Serie A teams), Amauri showed most of his potential, becoming one of the key players for his team. Amauri was sold to Palermo on August 31, 2006, the last day of the 2006 summer market, for €8m, after having scored two goals in the return match of the third qualifying round against PFC Levski Sofia.

Amauri, who never appeared at the international level for the Brazilian team, has recently asked to acquire an Italian passport, as he has lived and played in Italy for five years: therefore, he will be soon eligible to play for the Italian national team and, unless Brazil's coach Dunga beats him to it, is considered a likely future call-up of Azzurri coach Roberto Donadoni.

Transfer listed Kader Keita has today signed a deal with Cali Clown FC for a fee of a mega £7m! The young striker was around 5th in the pecking order and wasn't in favour with new manager Kenny Dalglish. Also on his way out of Real Verdadera is star defender Daniel Agger who has been recalled from his loan by sdav. Despite Real clinging onto their young superstar, the decision was final and Agger had to leave.

On a brighter note, Wellzy added Lucas Neill to replace Agger, Left back Frank Quedrue, youngsters Jonathan de Guzman and Miguel Veloso and finally a loan in with Argentinian prospect Jose Sosa who could be key to Verdadera's promotion fight!

Other good news spreads throughout El Kop as Alexander Kerzhakov has withdrawn his transfer request after having a meeting with club owner Wellzy who desired him to stay. "He could be an important member of our team and he can expect many more appearances from now on." Wellzy said.

Rumours from El Kop suggest that young brazilian Daniel Carvalho could join Real Verdadera in a bank busting £9m! The former CSKA midfielder can play in a range of positions and can offer a lot to the Real squad! Having already played with Real no. 10 Vagner Love, Verdadera could be a fantastic move for Carvalho.

Manager Kenny Dalglish refused to comment on the subject until a deal was concrete.

Dalglish - Manager of the Month

It was announced yesterday that Kenny Dalglish has become the manager of the month in his first month in charge of Real Verdadera! "It is fantastic but most of the credit has to go to the players. 4 games unbeaten since the team has been together and we are definately looking at the title now. After a few top draw names drawing this weekend, we are very ambitious. It is a great privilege to be granted this award and I hope many more are to come."

Pennant - Stole the show!

The weekend brought great quality football in Div 3 as the quality keeps improving. Real Verdadera strolled past mufcsean as they put in a bid for the title! The 3 names, Ricardo Montolivo, Vagner Love and finally Andriy Voronin were the scorers but the star of the show was Jermaine Pennant who waltsed around the mufc full back and had Left midfielder, Poulsen very much in his pocket. With "King" Kenny winning manager of the month it would be no surprise of a strong performance next week!

Real who are also linked with Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and also Samuel Eto'o.

Real Verdadera are set for a summer spending spree and although gaining promotion, Dalglish plans a squad overhaul.

Beckham Set To Sign?

http://img.timeinc.net/pespanol/i/galeria/2006/junio/david_beckham_6.09.06.jpg

According to Menorcan papers, David Beckham was spotted outside Verdadera's El Kop today and immediately speculation has surrounded Mr Beckham himself. Beckham who has ended a successful loan spell with Merseyside USA has been offered to other teams by his current team.

It was already obvious that Verdadera manager, Kenny Dalglish, was interested in the former England captain. "He is a great player with passion and hunger for victory. He is sporting and a gentleman, I respect that." Dalglish is expected to sign a fair few players in the summer window and Beckham is not the only one rumoured to be heading to the newly promoted team. Real want to add world class all over the pitch but have made a centre forward and a centre midfield priority. A centre midfield is needed mainly to fill the gap of Rio Mavuba whom is returning to de Messi.

A Real Verdadera spokesman was asked upon the subject of Beckham and he honestly replied that he was a target. It is expected that a trade of players is to be the offer and unhappy Kerzhakov could be the scapegoat to bring Beckham in.

Dalglish promised class and he delivers. Juninho Pernambucano passed a medical here today at El Kop and looks to sign pen to paper within 24 hours. Juninho, a proven midfielder in Europe has won many caps with his national side and many top clubs were after the Brazilian's signature. After lengthy negotiations with Charlie, Finally a deal was struck. Juninho and Lucas Leiva (FSL) would move to Real plus £4m for Jermaine Pennant, who is making way for David Beckham, Ashley Young and finally club legend, Steve FInnan will head to de Mess on a half season loan.

Lucas Leiva, a young brazilian central midfielder claimed to be the "Brazilian Gerrard". A box to box, fierce player who won Brazilian player of the year and also captains the U20 Brazil national side. Leiva will join Verdadera on a season loan with the possibility to make it permanent.

Dalglish announced the news to the press after hours of negotiations. "We can confirm that we have met an agreement with de Messi and Juninho and Lucas will put pen to paper tomorrow evening when the window opens. I promised the fans that I would add world class to the side, in order for us to compete in the second division and I would definately say Juninho is just that. Lucas is also a major star when in Brazil. He has come in and will replace Rio Mavuba who has now left us. Hopefully these are the two of a list of signings which will be made over the coming weeks. We can also confirm David Beckham has passed a medical today."

Verdadera have now agreed terms with two of the world's best midfielders, giving way to Steve Finnan who was needed at de Messi. Real will be keen to land a striker and also a defender in the next few days, as they promise to field a strong XI next season.

Inzaghi slots another home!

First it was Beckham, then Juninho and Leiva, Nani and Agger joined up with their new team mates and now another five players have joined up with the Real Verdadera squad. Yes, Real have certainly been busy in the opening few days of the transfer window. The fans expected changes, but certainly not of this calibre.

Firstly, and arguably the most important signing, Italian striker Filippo Inzaghi. El Kop needed a world class finisher as their spear head in attack and after failing with bids for Didier Drogba and also Luca Toni, Dalglish managed to land Inzaghi for a whopping £6m. It could be argued that this amount is too much for a striker who is aging, however, Dalglish stated that it isn't age which counts, it is the player's performance. Inzaghi is certainly not "past it" and with two goals in the Champions League victory for Milan supports the hitman's claim. Real Verdadera chairman Rick Parry told press that "Inzaghi is just what the club needed, a goal scorer of the highest quality and Dalglish did very well in bringing him here." The Italian not only is a great poacher of goals but has the versatility enabling him to play alone up front and also withing a pair.

Of course, Mr Inzaghi wasn't the only one making the move to El Kop yesterday! Young midfielder Jose Sosa joins the midfield ranks on a season long loan from Asgard United. Sosa will apply back up on the right side for David Beckham and is more than capable of taking on that role. Tim Cahill agreed to a permanent move sending unused Andriy Voronin with a suitcase of £2m to Norway Utd. The final two moves saw Gareth Barry join Real in a deal where Ronald Zubar went the opposite way plus £6m and finally Verdadera managed to pick up up coming left back, Jeremy Mathieu. These two full backs signals the exit of Franck Quedrue as there seems no room to accompany three left backs. Jonathon de Guzman and Ze Roberto have been officially tranfer listed after fairly mediocre spells with El Kop..

Mark Viduka in action for Aussies!

Australian powerhouse striker Mark Viduka was released before the awaiting press yesterday after putting pen to paper to join Real Verdadera on a three year deal.

"We have been watching Mark for some time now and we actually enquired about him whilst Mark Sullivan was in charge! He seemed pretty keen on keeping him. Then we heard the news that he was being replaced, so we waited behind the scenes to see what was going on. We managed to snatch Mark right at the last minute, the same thing which happened to us with Hernan Crespo, but that's football and you have to deal with things like this." Kenny Dalglish, Verdadera boss, tells Menorcan media.

Viduka paraded the El Kop with the no. 10 shirt, formerly Vagner Love's last season, does that signal an exit for the former CSKA striker? However, it needs no worry for now. Viduka was ecstatic after agreeing the terms of contract. "I was aware of interest for me, but when I heard the Real Verdadera were after me I could not refuse. It's a chance to work with Jack Wells, Rick Parry and Kenny Dalglish and the major factor is second division football. I feel that I can really excel in a team with major class in it."

Dukes wasn't the only one making an entrance in the second week of the transfer window. Versatile defender, Tomas Ujfalusi, made the swap from Merseyside USA for a deal worth £1m + Ze Roberto and Jonathan De Guzman. Ujfalusi can play in all positions around the back four and will give Verdadera a utility player which was very much needed. "We fought off strong interest to sign Tomas and we believe he has a job to do for us and we want him to be a major factor next season.".

Finnan in Action!

A surprise early return for Steve Finnan came upon the horizon today after talks with club de Messi were held. Verdadera were very reluctant to loan out Finnan to prise away Juninho from de Messi. Real managed to recall Finnan from his extremely short loan spell after struggling to find a worthy replacement. However, the deal saw Australian Lucas Neill depart from the club for a fee of only £500k.

"It was important to bring Steve back, we were very reluctant to give way in the first place but thankfully, all credit to owner Charlie, we were able to hold smooth negotiations to solve the problem. Neill was no longer part of our plans and he knew this. We feel he is going to a good club and for a small fee, it is the best deal all round." Wells stated to La Gazzeta.

The squad looks complete already for next season but Wells has said that the club will keep trying to improve the team in every way possible. The possibility of a striker coming in are still quite high, with Amauri on Dalglish's shortlist. The red hot property for El Kop is portuguese starlet, Nani..

Amauri agrees to sign for Real

After weeks of negotiations, Kenny Dalglish finally revealed what is widely suggested as the "big" signing. Amauri Carvalho De Oliveira, Dalglish believes he is one of the world's best strikers! Amauri failed to fit into the english set up at Division 1 runners up, Newton Heath, to which he knew it was time to end his spell with the Manchester based team. Real Verdadera were chasing the Brazilian magician for some time and persisted with owner, Hunter, to come to an agreement. Amauri left his mark with italian outfit, Palermo, in which he scored many goals in Serie A and was also linked with a move to Liverpool.

Kenny Dalglish and Jack Wells regard Amauri as the final piece of the puzzle, "We believe Amauri, is one of the best finishers in the entire world. We feel we have got a great deal for only £9m when you see big name players going for £30m+ probably having equal talent to Amauri. We feel he is the final piece of the puzzle, we have went into the transfer market and sealed all our deals in quick fashion. This was important, we could not afford to dwell or we would miss out. As we have already seen." Dalglish explained to Menorcan newspapers.

Amauri is the third forward to join the five man strikeforce at Real Verdadera. He is accompanied now by: Vagner Love, Rafael Sobis and the other two new recruits, Filippo Inzaghi and Mark Viduka.

Reports from El Kop suggest that Real Verdadera are planning one last bang in the current transfer window. Kenny Dalglish has done extremely well to build a squad worthy to compete in the second division and after the recent signing of Amauri, it seemed that this was to be the finale of Real Verdadera's transfer activity.

However, according to two main Menorcan papers, "La Gazetta" and "El Kop", Dalglish plans to crash out of the transfer window with a bang! Verdadera owner, Jack Wells, a huge supporter of the spanish ace, Fernando Torres, is believed to be planning to swoop for the Avenido striker. It looks impossible that this deal would be permanent as El Nino's £27m price tag is well above Verdadera's budge, although it is believed a loan deal is being lined up.

When Wells was asked on the matter, he calmly replied, "Fernando is one of the few players with extreme talent! Of course i'm interested, who wouldn't be? It would be incredibly difficult to bring Fernando to Verdadera. However, I will do everything in my power to sign a player of his calibre if given the opportunity."

The final piece of transfer news circulating the Menorcan outfit is the future of Rafael Sobis. Sobis appears to be fairly low in the pecking or order or "priority list" and could seek a move elsewhere. Sobis boasts a lot of talent, having had a good season with Real. The Brazilian, is definately a special talent but it is unlikely to be used this season and could be on the move if only as a loan..

Wells: "Torres is shock of window"

Unbelievable antics has happened over the past couple of days at the El Kop. It has been revealed to all that goal-scoring maestro, Fernando Torres has agreed on a move to Wells' Menorcan outfit. Torres, aged 23, was a key part of last year's Division 1 winners side, Racing Avenido and has chosen to link up with Juninho, Beckham, Inzaghi etc. for next season.

The shock deal came about, after lengthy negotiations were taken place over a number of weeks and finally a deal was struck. Fernando Torres has made a loan move to El Kop with a suitcase of £8 million. Rafael Sobis, who was expected to leave Verdadera, has gone the opposite way on a permanent basis and Vagner Love has followed him in a straight loan swap between the two, Torres and Love. Real owner, Jack Wells, is a major fan of the spanish genius and was chasing Torres ever since he took ownership of Real Verdadera. Torres is a superb goal scorer and adds a huge amount of flexibility to the Menorcan side.

"I am delighted, and it is without doubt, the signing of the window. Fernando is a huge talent and it is impossible to put it into words how delighted I am with his capture. It will send shockwaves down the FL and especially Division 2 as I do believe we can gain promotion through the signings we have made." Expressed Wells.

"It is going to be a very exciting time for me here at El Kop. I strongly believe I can help Real achieve something this season and I want to make this an unforgettable season." Replied Fernando Torres.

Torres is expected to be the spearhead of the Real Verdadera attack linking up with Italian legend, Pippo Inzaghi. .

Kenny Dalglish has further added to his squad with yet another Spaniard, this time it is Rafa FC star defender Alvaro Arbeloa. It is likely Arbeloa has been brought in to provide cover at the right back position for Liverpool team-mate, Steve Finnan. After the departure of unused Curtis Davies it was on the priority list to recruit a second right back and Kenny Dalglish made swift movements to do so.

Arbeloa is the second spaniard this week to join the Real Verdadera camp, after Luis Garcia made the switch from Cali FC. Kenny Dalglish revealed how important it is to keep the spanish culture of Verdadera, "it is very important for the team spirit to have a selection of spanish players and even mediterranean players. It is easier to communicate on and off the field and the bonds between players and staff grows stronger." Dalglish himself being scottish claims he has fit in perfectly with the spanish regime.

Alvaro Arbeloa announced his delight at becoming the latest addition to the squad stating, "I have been linked with this club for some time now, everyday I read the papers and there is something linking me here. I knew very little about the interest but yesterday I was told about the possible move and to work with Kenny is a privilege."

To finalise, Dalglish ended speculation linking Finnan to Rafa FC, the club claimed on their website "strong links with the Irishman", however, Dalgish responded that it was 'utter rubbish' and that Finnan is going no where..

Pizarro scores again for Italians, AS Roma

Rick Parry and Kenny Dalglish have yet again shocked the world of football with new acquisition, David Pizarro. It was revealed last night that the deal would take last season's captain, Alberto Aquilani, surprisingly away from El Kop. Aquilani spoke to Italian papers about his move away yesterday evening and explained why he left the spanish side. La Gazzetta understands that the Italian starlet was very grateful to the Real Verdadera staff but home-sickness led him away from Menorca and back to Italy where he meets with World Cup winning manager, Marcello Lippi, at Turin based club LSA Originale?.

The unsurprising thing is the arrival of David Pizarro, a key figure of AS Roma and a defensive midfielder, who posseses outstanding vision further helped by accurate passing. The chilean international despite lack of height at only 5" 7, unusually, is able to compete, and better, some of the strongest midfielders in the world. Pizarro still only 27 is still yet to reach the peak of his career and will obviously play a key part in this year's campaign for Real Verdadera.

Real Verdadera head coach, Kenny Dalglish describes Pizarro as the "missing cog" in his team's setup and is likely to be played as the lying midfielder to provide cover when midfield partner, Juninho Pernambucano bombs forward in search of a goal. Dalglish spoke in today's press conference, "David [Pizarro] is a fantastic professional and perhaps the cog we were missing for the start of the season. We were in desperate need for a midfielder of his style, someone who can defend, who can lie deap, and someone who has a great eye for a pass. Negotiations went extremely well and we are very thankful to LSA Originale? for providing a good atmosphere for negotiations. We recieved many offers over the summer for Alberto [Aquilani] and we knew that a return home was the best thing for him and we were very comfortable in selling him to LSA where I am sure they will take very good care of him and produce him into a world class player, which he has the potential to be."

Pizarro has been handed the number four shirt for the coming season and is said to be delighted with the move. After being chased by Division 1 and 2 clubs, it says a lot that the Chilean decided to joing Verdadera's unit. Both Real Verdadera and LSA Originale? continue to dominate this year's end of season transfer window and as it draws to a close can we expect to see any more activity from either club?

Babel tangled as he fights for the ball.

Inside a week, Real Verdadera yet again have shocked the world of football with their latest acquisition, Ryan Babel. Less than a week has past since the shock trade of last season's hero, Alberto Aquilani, and LSA Originale's David Pizarro. The Menorcan side have again made a drastic swap, Portuguese kid, Nani, and Holland's wonderkid, Ryan Babel. It was a shock for everybody that Ryan Babel would be the man replacing Nani, as it seemed that FC Combine Harvester refused to part with their rough diamond.

Babel, considered to be "the next Thierry Henry" with former International coach, Marco Van Basten, is considered to be one of the world's greatest new prospects and Real Verdadera are obviously delighted with their capture. Although, far from the finished article, Babel is showing all the right signs of living up to his potential. This is very similar to Nani, who was the sacrifice to bring in Babel. Nani straight from the off appeared to be unsettled at his new home and he was publicly transfer listed early July.

Kenny Dalglish, for what seems like the hundredth time, spoke to press on his new signing. "Ryan is a fantastic player and we have been tracking him for some time now. He is a similar player to Nani but can vary in different positions. Yes, we have been extremely active this transfer window but I still don't believe we are finished yet. I aim to have the perfect squad at my finger tips for the coming season in Division 2 and we are close, but not yet complete." Dalglish ended, casting speculation immediately about who will complete the project, Real Verdadera..

Brocchi celebrates in Champions League clash with Celtic!

LSA Originale? and Real Verdadera have confirmed the transfer of Christian Brocchi, who has signed for Verdadera for a fee suggested around £5.5million. The small defensive midfielder yesterday passed a medical at Verdadera and is to put pen to paper on a deal later today.

Cristian Brocchi, standing at only 5" 8 is relatively small for a central midfielder but can battle with the best at the very highest standard. Brocchi represents the same type game play as fellow Italian, Gennaro Gatusso and can hold the midfield shape extremely well. Verdadera may have just landed the "destroyer" midfielder they very much needed, in order to bring success this season.

"It is a very good club, and to play in the second division was a key element in my decision. LSA spoke to me that there was interest from a club, but I had no idea it was Real [Verdadera]. Hopefully I can play a key part in this year's campaign and the target now is to play my best football and hopefully win us some silver-ware." [Cristian] Brocchi told La Gazetta.

El Kop, last season brought back the Division 3 crown and with the signings made, it looks unlikely that they will end up back there. "At the end of last season, when we were up, we thought we would have to build a squad capable of avoiding relegation. We have worked hard with the team over the summer and now we feel we have a squad capable of competing for the highest honours, we are looking above a relegation battle now." Dalglish hinted towards anxious press.

The Verdadera management team are now looking at the squad they have at their finger tips, and the next big decision will have to be who is to take the captaincy role for next season now last season's has gone..

Dalglish On Opening Fixture...

http://www.leaguemanagers.com/media/dalglish_kenny_r.jpg

The fixtures for the 07/08 season have been released, and RealVerdadera.com were delighted to speak to Verdadera leading man, Kenny Dalglish, about this season's schedule and their opening game with Prohawks.

1. We are delighted you could join us Kenny! Firstly, do you feel the squad is ready for the new season? Or is there still transfer business to attend to before you kick off?

- I think we are more than ready for kick off, I know the players are excited to start the new campaign and so am I. I am very happy with the squad I have at my finger tips now, we have the depth required to survive in a high division and I strongly believe we can cause an upset in the title fight this year. However, if a player I think can improve the team comes available then yes! I am always interested.

2. You say 'Real could cause an upset', does this mean after all the changes you have made, you now think that maybe promotion is an achievable target? What other teams will be challenging, and who do you regard as favourites?

- We aren't here just to make up the numbers, We wouldn't be in this situation if I didn't think we had the ability to succeed in this division. Yes, it is a step up from the third division, but as I have said, we are ready. I think we know who the strong teams of this league are, you have Merseyside USA, desperately unlucky missing out on promotion last season. Clockwork Orange, we have seen, are a strong outfit and have added a few players to their squad ready for next season. Finally, I think Asgard United are an extremely good team and will almost certainly be looking near the top end come the end of the season. We are in this bracket, with these sort of clubs.

3. Exciting, it looks like it will be an extremely interesting campaign for all involved. Your opening opponents, Prohawks, do you know much about them.

- We have never played them, but, we have done our research. They have a strong squad, and they are another strong Division 2 side. They have an experienced side with players like Giggs, Figo, Emerson, Vieria. We know where the danger can be inflicted from, and I think we know how we can exploit their weaknesses. However, like us, they will be doing the same or similar preperations and I am sure, they will come at us full throttle. It is very important to start the season with a win, it sets expectations for the rest of the year.

4. Finally, everyone is asking the question, who will take the captain's armband now Alberto Aquilani has left Real Verdadera?

- The coaching team and myself are talking about who we think can take on the responsibility of leading the team out. I believe it is important for every player to be able to lead to a certain extent. Having strong personalities brings determination and driving force. We have a few candidates, but as soon as we know, we will inform you.

Thanks for speaking to us Kenny! Good luck this season.

Thankyou very much, or should I say, Gracias Senor.

Hargreaves stands as referee gives him a caution.

Owen Hargreaves and John Arne Riise entered the Verdadera training ground, Madera de los Mel, for the first time after putting pen to paper both on four year deals. Speculation on the "mega deal" was churning around the spanish isle and the two clubs, Real Verdadera and Merseyside USA, confirmed suspicions last week as they announced the deal which has gone through. Both Hargreaves and Riise come to Menorca with large pedigrees and they are both deemed to play an important role for El Kop this season.

The deal confirmed the surprising transfer of new signings David Pizarro, Luis Garcia and Gareth Barry. Pizarro and Barry seemed to have fit in at the spanish club well but obviously not well enough according to Kenny Dalglish. La Gazetta can only presume that this deal was well thought over as it seemed strange for Verdadera to bring in two defensive midfielders at the same time, Pizarro joined closely followed by Cristian Brocchi. All seems clear now, that the actual intentions of the Verdadera staff was to lure in Owen Hargreaves. The other two players going the opposite direction, Luis Garcia and Gareth Barry, is easy to understand. Riise will step into the position Barry left and it seems Garcia was surplus to requirements.

The new signings, as stated, come with great reputations. Hargreaves a defensive midfielder who has a good eye for a tackle and can hold a midfield in shape. John Arne Riise, is an attacking left back who enjoyed seven seasons on Merseyside turf at Liverpool. Riise's trademark is his hammer of a left foot, on plenty of occasions stunning goal keepers with breath taking long range shots.

Dalglish now feels comfortable with the midfield he has at his disposal, "I am happy, we have a very strong central midfield now, with many options. Owen Hargreaves, Juninho, Cristian Brocchi and Lucas Leiva are top quality making it a good problem for me to have to choose who starts. I doubt very much if we will make any further changes in this department, nor will we on the attacking front." Dalglish also hinted that the only area for improvement would be a centre back, to complete four top players there.

"I am happy to be a part of this squad and linking up what is almost a complete Liverpool defence with myself, Steve Finnan and Daniel Agger, is something which attracted me. It was a decision for me I simply couldn't turn down." Riise expressed his delight whilst bearing the number six shirt at his opening press conference..

Juninho, A self controlled legend of the game, to lead the Verdadera XI.

A long, anxious wait for all the Real Verdadera captain candidates has come to an end as Kenny Dalglish announced who will be the new captain, the predecessor of Alberto Aquilani. "It is to my delight, to name the new captain of Real Verdadera, Juninho Pernambucano!" Dalglish announced with an abrupt cheer from the viewing press, flashes of the camera, and heavy claps. "I believe Juninho has all the right attributes to take on this role and to lead Verdadera into a bright future. He is level headed, respected and what I feel, a natural leader. Of course, it was a tough decision as we have so many leaders at the club, Fernando Torres, David Beckham and more. However this is the decision the coaching team and I have come to and we are very pleased with it." Dalglish finished, leaving his chair prompting Juninho to come forward.

Juninho spoke with pride, "It is a great day for me to have the honour of becoming the new captain of what is a great club. I have only just signed, but it feels like I have been here a long time. The spirit throughout the squad is extremely high and we can't wait to get going now, we have had a successful pre-season which has been a lot of fun. The team and fans have backed me and for that I am extremely grateful, I want to repay them now by bringing success to the team, Venido en Verdadera." Which is translated to "Come on Verdadera" in English.

As Juninho is captain, the vice-captaincy has been handed to the young yet experienced, Daniel Agger. Last season, Agger won player of the season last year closely followed by Alberto Aquilani and Jermaine Pennant. Agger will want to impress the Verdadera faithful for a second year running..

LAS AGUILLAS ANOUNCE NEW LOGO...

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/8075/logohs2.png (http://imageshack.us)

Real Verdadera chairman, Rick Parry, and the board have been working on improving the marketing side of the Menorcan club and have introduced a fresh new crest for the new season.

As the new glassy look, Parry believes the "modern" look and the trademark eagle represent the club and it's future. The white, black and gold colours resemble the team colours, this time the black being the dominant colour. The Menorcan eagle sits proudly as the main symbol on the crest, Las Aguillas.

"With the new look, the kits are ready, we have a new logo, we are ready for the new season. Kenny has worked very hard over the summer to tune the squad to how he feels will challenge the Division 2 opposition and we have worked behind the scenes to secure marketing deals. We are very happy with what we have achieved, and look forward to next season, thank you." Parry told Spanish press..

Prohawks Vs Real Verdadera

http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/content/images/2007/03/05/barca_009_470x336.jpg

It was an exciting opening day for Division 2's newest addition, last season's third tier champions went away to last year's first division dismissal's, Fantasy League giants, Prohawks.

Las Aguilas started with what is expected as one of their strongest line ups, the Menorcans played a balanced 4-4-2 on their travels. The spectacular signing of Fernando Torres started up front partnering Australian new recruit, Mark Viduka. The midfield was set out as expected, David Beckham holding the right flank, Ryan Babel on the left, used to torture the Prohawk's right back, and the newly formed partnership of skipper Juninho and Owen Hargreaves in midfield. Agger and Navarro were Canizares' first wall of defense, accompanied by Steve Finnan and John Arne Riise as full backs.

Prohawks set out with a similar 4-4-2, an experienced side boasted with legends such as, Luis Figo, Emerson, Patrick Vieira and Ryan Giggs. Jens Lehmann got the late call for the first team, was he about to undo his pre-season blunders?

Real Verdadera looked in full throttle in the opening ten minutes as they looked for the opening goal, both Fernando Torres and Mark Viduka looking very sharp. However, Nicholas Anelka gave the Spaniard's an agonising blow just inside the first half hour calmly slotting past a stranded Santiago Canizares. After starting so fast and strongly, conceding now could possibly have been an early knockout for Dalglish's side. Refusing to give in, only a few minutes later Fernando Torres burst through Prohawks back line with some thundering pace, and he wasn't to be stopped. With a cheeky chip over Lehmann's head, the young spaniard had drew level with the home runners.

El Nino's goal seemed a stinging blow which the Prohawk's couldn't shake off quick enough. A second attempt from Torres deflected off Coloccini's back thigh and into the path of Juninho, the skipper hammered into the roof of the net from twenty yards, a trademark goal for the Brazilian.

The second half began, Prohawks seemed to have found their way back into the game. Obviously the half time chat had done the trick in waking the home team up out of their gloom. It was Prohawks' loan off Verdadera who provided the equaliser, Alexander Kerzhakov managed to scramble the ball over the line as Las Aguilas failed to clear.

In the final thirty minutes, Real Verdadera began to assert their dominance, Juninho and Hargreaves taking control of the midfield and spraying the ball wide gave Verdadera opportunities to get a winner but it didn't seem to come. Substitute Inzaghi came the closest only to be denied by Jens Lehmann. Finally a breakthrough came. John Arne Riise hit from thirty yards a bullet which flew under the body of Lehmann, who in all honesty didn't have a clue. Surely their was no way back into the game for Prohawks now?

The final ten minutes saw the home team tired, the experience legs of Giggs and Emerson seemed to have no more energy left in them. Ryan Babel came close to killing the game but went the wrong side of the netting. The game was already won though in an action packed fixture. Dalglish very much delighted with his side's display but did point out that the conceded goals could well have been avoided.

Real Verdadera: Canizares; Finnan, Navarro, Agger, Riise; Beckham, Hargreaves, Juninho (C), Babel; Viduka, Torres..

Preview:

Real Verdadera host the second game of the season against AFC Chelsea at their 80,000 seater stadium, El Kop. Verdadera got off to a flying start last weekend as they beat Prohawks 3-2 on away turf. It is Real's first home game of the season and as expected, it is a sell out, Las Aguilas are renowned for their passionate crowd and the twelth man of El Kop will do everything they can to unsteady their opponents.

Dalglish is expected to make a few straight swaps for this weekend's game without drastically changing his team's formation. Jermaine Pennant impressed in training during the week, replacing David Beckham, who sustained a minor thigh strain which reduces him to the bench this weekend. After joining the action in the final twenty minutes last week, 'Pippo' Inzaghi is set to start, with Mark Viduka playing no part this weekend. A tactical change has seen last week's match winner, John Arne Riise out of the first eleven, allowing Alvaro Arbeloa to step in to provide that extra defensive cover.

The main worry for Chelsea is probably the creative service of Ryan Babel and Jermaine Pennant who can feed in the electric Fernando Torres and the goal poacher, Filippo Inzaghi. It will be a tough match for Las Aguilas as they play a team who also have high hopes for this season, with both teams having exceptional midfields, we expect whoever wins that battle, shall take the points.

Verdadera have started their campaign off with six points out of a possible nine, a tally which a former division 3 club should be very proud of. According to reports, Kenny Dalglish is set to tweak his side, and to change the club's natural 4-4-2 formation. Cristian Brocchi is set to make his league debut for the Menorcan outfit, Brocchi picked up a knock in pre-season which has kept him out for a few weeks, however, looked impressive during training this week.

The opposition are a hardworking side with a strong defense, Taylor and Vidic guarding stopper, Paul Robinson, is a tough wall to break down. Perhaps the motive for Dalglish to play with three attacking players. £9m signing Amauri has struggled settling in at El Kop, but Dalglish publicly gave him the thumbs up for this week. With a strong squad to choose from, and for a promotion challenging side, no disrespect to the opposing team, but this is a must win game for Las Aguilas.

Match Report

Norway United made the trip to Menorca on Friday evening and they may have wished they didn't in the first five minutes as Amauri opened up the scoring in his first touch in Verdadera's white. Torres played the Brazilian in, Amauri had no competition from the opposition's defenders, and he dinked calmly over the keeper's head. The goal was a huge blow for the visitors so early on.

It was fair to say the first half was controlled by Las Aguilas, who were held off only by the opposition defence. The midfield battle was won quite easily by the trio in midfield, Cristian Brocchi, Owen Hargreaves and Juninho Pernambucano. Ryan Babel made the other serious goal chance, when his thundering effort crashed off the bar.

The shock equaliser came in the first ten minutes of the second period, in the only lapse in concentration all game by the Real defense. The goal came from, United's only real threat, Ukranian Andrei Voronin. Voronin slid the ball past Santiago Canizares, whom had no chance of saving a great shot.

Fortunately for the home crowd, Dalglish's men fought back hard, immediately threatening the goal, this time with John Arne Riise who rocketed a shot from distance, a trademark shot from the Norwegian. It was Riise though who assisted Torres' fourth goal of the season, the spaniard gave Verdadera back the lead as he burst past Steven Taylor and then rounded the United stopper and finished into an empty net.

The game looked done and dusted, Norway United failed to apply the pressure needed to grind out a point and remained flat, almost waiting for Verdadera to spit their Venom again. Verdadera took all three points and putting them second in the first four weeks.

After a solid start to the season Las Aguilas have once again surprised their fans by changing a winning formulae. However this isn't all at free will, Fernando Torres has sustained a slight ankle injury and has retreated to the bench. Daniel Agger damaged his foot in last week's encounter with Norway United and Santiago Canizares has been forced out with a back problem.

Verdadera are expected to start with a 4-5-1 formation with debutants Jose Sosa and Ivan Helguera entering the first eleven. Cali FC are expected to start their talisman Wayne Rooney, but Dalglish is confident that his experienced duo at the back can keep the 20 year old out of the game.

With no disrespect to Cali FC, but once again, Real Verdadera need to pick up three points on the road tonight and keep the pressure on title favourites Asgard United.

According to reports from Spain's leading media association, El Pais, their native club, Real Verdadera, are already drawing up plans to bolster their squad in the mid-season window.

News leaked from Aguilas' HQ that the Menorcans could be set to make approaches for third Division duo, Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta. Benayoun who is currently on loan to fellow Division 2 side, Cali FC, is currently owned by MBV Arkestra. Kenny Dalglish 'apparently' is interested in the Israeli attacker, but the story seems unlikely because of the full season trade loan originally agreed between Arkestra and Cali.

Verdadera are lacking a natural left midfielder with only Babel, whom likes to play more as a Wing/Forward. Mikel Arteta, a key figure in the Foca Juniors camp is considered an option for Real and they could well swoop for the Spaniard in the mid-season window.

Out of the two, it is obvious which story is believable. However, we are yet to have concrete confirmation from either party..

We feel he settled well here and believe it is in his best interests to stay with us. However, it is not up to us or him. We will fight tooth and nail to keep him here. Although if we fail, he will be greatly missed."

Torres has been Real Verdadera's top scorer over half the season and a key member of Dalglish's squad.

Ivan Helguera and Franck Quedrue look dead set on leaving Las Aguilas as we draw close to the re-opening of the transfer window. Both players have clearly been out of favour and most probably shall be looking for a new club this time next week.

Helguera has made poor performances and his struggle to find fitness may see him to the door.

Luis Aragones has tonight been appointed the new manager of Real Verdadera, following the un-predicted resignation of scotsman Kenny Dalglish.

For the past 24 hours many phone calls have been made by the Spanish club who were in search of a new head coach after the surprising news last night. According to reports, Aragones was keen on the job and Verdadera were swift to tie the Spaniard down. Ecstatic with their new manager, a club representative stated that the board were "delighted" to have found such an experienced manager in such a short space of time.

The Great Acquisition - Rafa the new big gun at Verdadera!

It has already been a busy window for Real Verdadera, not only with players moving in and out. Only last week, Kenny Dalglish sensationally quit the Spaniards, shortly after, Spanish manager, Luis Aragones penned a deal with Real Verdadera. With a strong Spanish core to the squad, it seems, Aragones is the perfect candidate to take the reigns of Las Aguilas.

As always, Verdadera have been one of the most active teams and changing managers is not an excuse to stop the tradition. Five players have departed the club, including: Mark Viduka; Owen Hargreaves; Vagner Love; John Arne Riise; David Beckham and a surprise quick route out of Real Verdadera for Klaas Jan Huntelaar, whom made way for two of Aguilas' big name signings.

Of course, the main talking point is the recruitment of one of the world's finest midfielders, Rafael Van Der Vaart. The dutchman has been a key player in a couple of FL sides already, and he believes "Real Verdadera will be his greatest challenge." Van Der Vaart joined Real along with Liverpool's former big man, Peter Crouch. It is believed that Huntelaar + £10m funded the double deal.

Pepe Reina was also brought in from Midnight Riders, a long term target for the club. Another spaniard, Marcos Senna was signed along with Israeli trickster, Yossi Benayoun. John Arne Riise, who has been off form this season, made way for the two. Real have also added German young keeper, Rene Adler to the side and also, Martin Caceres, a Uruguayan left back who has been monitored by European giants such as Juventus and Real Madrid.

The final word from El Kop is that Aragones is very pleased with his inherited squad, but believes if an opportunity arises, be sure he will take it..

Swedish centre back, Olof Mellberg, has secured a surprise transfer to second flight side, Real Verdadera. It is likely that Mellberg has been brought in to provide cover for the shortage of centre backs at El Kop. There is no doubt that Mellberg is as solid as they come and Verdadera head coach, Luis Aragones, knew that there was no better man for the job.

"Olof is a very solid defender, he is very reliable and has a lot of experience. We believe these capabilities along with his good attitude and work hard ethic, he is a terrific signing."

Marca reports that Menorcan outfit, Real Verdadera, are close to signing number one target Ruud Van Nistelrooy when the window opens next Friday. Real Verdadera have enjoyed a successful campaign last season by making the jump up to the Premier division in just one attempt in the second tier. However, the squad they have currently, is no where near strong enough to compete with the likes of the current crop in Division 1.

Van Nistelrooy is clearly a step in the right direction and signing the dutch striker would be a world class signing by Aragones. Nistelrooy has made it clear that he is looking for a new challenge by submitting a statement on his club website claiming that he had rejected a new deal with relegated side, Racing Club Combine Harvester. This means Verdadera could pick the dutchman up without spending a penny, which would be a fantastic coup for Las Aguilas.

Aragones also hinted yesterday that a couple more deals were in the pipeline.

"We are working on several deals, two of which are completed, the players we have agreed to sign will go straight in the first team. So far, we are very happy with the progress."
