Current Version: 1.0 BETA

Description:

This file for PS2 replaces both Other League B and Other League C with 23 assorted classic teams, both at National and club level.

The teams are as follows:

Classic Hungary (The Magical Magyars)
Classic Ireland
Classic Scotland
Classic Spain
Classic Sweden

Other League C

Classic Arsenal
Classic Aston Villa
Classic Chelsea
Classic Everton
Classic Leeds United
Classic Liverpool

Classic Tottenham Hotspur
Classic Celtic
Classic AC Milan
Classic Inter Milan
Classic Juventus
Classic Barcelona
Classic Real Madrid
Classic Ajax
Classic Bayern Munich
Classic Benfica

*Please note the teams are of an 'all-time' nature not from any specific era.*

Other option file features:

Over 500 classic players! :w00t
Some replacements for existing classic national teams. (see below)
New team emblems & logos to fit the classic theme.
Better appearances and revised stats for almost all existing classic players already in the game.
The English Premiership (Sadly not all transfers are done but that will soon be rectified)

Existing Classic Team Updates:

Classic France: Zidane replaces Ginola
Classic France: Lizarazu replaces Bellone
Classic France: Desailly replaces Tusseau
Classic France: Djorkaeff replaces Ferreri
Classic France: Barthez replaces Bats (done before Barthez came out of retirement but France need a decent keeper anyway :tongue:)

Classic Brazil: Garrincha replaces Raí

Classic England: Shearer replaces I. Wright

There may be a few others, I'll update if I remember any more...

Updates

As this file is still classed as being in the BETA stage, there will be a few updates released to correct the few mistakes and improve on certain things in the file. At the moment I am taking a deserved break and then I will commence work on an update. I already have an idea of what the update will include but if you notice any mistakes or simply suggestions to the content then please leave any feedback. Anyway keep an eye on this thread in the very near future for updates...

Ideas:

Corrected Player Numbers
Newly-created additional players to balance and strengthen teams
Better apps for ALL classic players
All transfers completed for current club teams
Smaller classic-style shorts for all teams
Improved kits, emblems & logos

etc etc...

Maybe even some more teams? ;)

You says that french league is useless, because you don't know. In france, we are interesting about all championship, not only us championship. For example, classic Monaco is, for me, largest better than a lot of classic that krook has done.

half of your players are still playing and are therefore not classic. i dont believe its useless i just dont think its better than any of the ones my game or on the OF. IT IS not better than scotland they have a rock solid defence greig jardine etc and a potent attack with dalgliesh(hurts me to say it). Ireland i would replace with poland unless its unified ireland then they are a great team with best jennings sheedy cascarino and many more.

We've already got some good banter on here so that's a start.

Let me just clear up some issues raised on here...

Firstly I hope to have a PC version out soon. I noticed that johnlennon had some problems when converting the file over so I'll have to do some testing before I release it.

In the meantime if you want a PC version that bad you can always convert it yourself. Really easy to do as well. Just use the Pesfan Editor and look under 'converting files' in the help file.

Looking at JL's they do seem similar but there are a few differences. I think there will be both pluses & minuses for both teams so I guess you'll just have to judge. Unfortunately I can't post any screenshots, maybe when & if I release the PC version I will be able to.

Well there are many factors to the teams created. I for one have a better knowledge of the English game than any other. It could be seen as bias but I simply created the teams that were easiest to do accurately & fairly. I do however intend to create additional teams in the future some of which you have mentioned.

Plus you misunderstood by Barthez comment. I was basically agreeing with your opinion of him that he is probably your best ever keeper.

You want Monaco created because you support them right? Well that's the same with me & Villa. I know the history of the club & their players better than most, plus they are MY team. If this the same as with you and Monaco then you should understand. Also... they are a good team! ;)

Same with Everton. They've had great teams and superb players over the years. As was mentioned they were unlucky not to be more successful and only the naive would class them as a 'smaller club'.

I think my man Mike stated the general opinion on your suggested team for Monaco. I work on a strict rule that the player has to have retired and played either their best years or the longest time at that certain club in their career. The only duplicates I allow for are for their respective National team.

I've added the PC links to the first post and uploaded all the files to an alternative site (megaupload). Early reports claim there to be no apparent problems with the PC file but there still may be.

About the formation and setup, most players will edit this themselves to the style they play. The lineup and formation are purely suggestions and in no way reflect the most effective style for everyone.

Why don't use players who are still playing ? Why they're no classic ? There are not in the club, when they will stop their career, their perf for this club will be the same. Why waiting ?

Henry has played 5 years for Monaco? He has won championship, and he he was the revelation of the years in 1996. In his first match, he scored two goals. This is nothing ?
Morientes is not a player for premiership, and Liverpool had not players for give him good ball. We can see that for Baros, who's an exellent players, and he could plays in this championship.

That's true, I support monaco, and that's why I know that they must have a classic teams. I d'ont know Villa and everton a lot.

it's more easy for you to do english teams as it's more easy for me to do french teams. But i think that a lot of people have not a good opinion about Ligue 1. But with ours money, we can do interesting thing. (Monaco in Champion's League in 2004) We have not abramovitch ! sorry for Barthez, I have not understand. But, remember I'm french, English is not a language that I can speak whithout difficulties as you can see in my sentences.

Wonderful work. Simply love all the hard work. For Benfica, I miss these players from the classic Benfica team: Mozer (DF), Costa Pereira (GK), João Vieira Pinto (SS) and Rui Costa (AMF). If you intend to update the team, it would became virtualy perfect. If you dont intend to, no problem, I will edit them.

Anyway, very GOOD work, I trully apreciate it!

Great OF Krook! Well worth the wait.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this but there looks like theres a few errors with a couple of players.

Eboue for Arsenal is called "<L 786>" and there are a few players with similar names. Like Hanemnmnmnman (GK) for Reading

This does'nt bother me b'cos it's easy enough to change, but i thought i'd let you know b'cos other than that minor glitch the file is perfect

After trying for a couple og games i come with one conclusion: It's harder to play with these god like players from Benfica (it make almost a perfect hexag in the team stats!) than with the below average modern team. Henry has played 5 years for Monaco? He has won championship, and he he was the revelation of the years in 1996. In his first match, he scored two goals. This is nothing ?
Morientes is not a player for premiership, and Liverpool had not players for give him good ball. We can see that for Baros, who's an exellent players, and he could plays in this championship.

it's more easy for you to do english teams as it's more easy for me to do french teams. But i think that a lot of people have not a good opinion about Ligue 1. But with ours money, we can do interesting thing. (Monaco in Champion's League in 2004) We have not abramovitch ! sorry for Barthez, I have not understand. Thanks for posting here guys. I'll try to address some of the issues raised here.

Wonderful work. Simply love all the hard work. For Benfica, I miss these players from the classic Benfica team: Mozer (DF), Costa Pereira (GK), João Vieira Pinto (SS) and Rui Costa (AMF). If you intend to update the team, it would became virtualy perfect. If you dont intend to, no problem, I will edit them.

Yeah there might be a few players like the ones you mentioned that I may add to Benfica. Funnily enough you can find COSTA PEREIRA in the unregistered section. I had a problem with his app so I had to take him out last minute. I intended to put him back in with an update when I try and locate a decent picture of him. In the meantime if you can find one please pass it on to me.

If anyone's interested, you can also find Robert JARNI & Karl-Heinz FORSTER in that section too. The latter of which doesn't have a hairstyle assigned as of yet.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this but there looks like theres a few errors with a couple of players.

Eboue for Arsenal is called "<L 786>" and there are a few players with similar names. Like Hanemnmnmnman (GK) for Reading

Thanks. Yes I am aware of this. However they actually display correctly in the game. I haven't noticed this occurance in any other file so it's a little weird. Thanks for the the name drops and I will edit them for the update. If you notice any more I'd appreciate it if you let me know.

After trying for a couple og games i come with one conclusion: It's harder to play with these god like players from Benfica (it make almost a perfect hexag in the team stats!) than with the below average modern team. I think I know what you are trying to say... maybe. In my opinion it can be more difficult as you try more complicated things with better players expecting them to pay off every time. For example I feel more inclined to say, shoot more from distance, try and lose one more defender with a silky dribbler or simply to create great goals. It can take a while to adjust so if you can just try and play your normal game and eventually you will really reap the rewards. But maybe that's not what the file is about? Everyone has to play their own way I guess.

Anyway the one issue that is inevitable is when you are playing two of the classic teams against one another. Some of the positions can cancel one another out. For example a great presence in attack can be thwarted by a strong back line, a strong midfield met by an equal midfield or simply players with extremely accurate shots being stopped with ease by world class keepers.

I found that games are very tight, often being decided one goal: a piece of genius. A Puskas volley outside the box, a penalty awarded and converted from one piece of magic from a great dribbler etc etc. Talking from my own opinion though I like to know my players inside out (not like that ;)) So I know their strengths and play to them and am well aware of their weaknesses, if any.

But now, I'm having great games against an opponent and the game's are much more action packed to say the least.

You have to be careful Eletus because at the minute you sound quite ignorant and biased.

There have been many GREAT Scotland players from the past, truly world class. Denis Law, Kenny Dalglish, Jimmy Johnstone, Jim Baxter, Graeme Souness & Alan Hansen to name a few. I don't want to aggravate you but a Classic Scotland team is 10X more worthy of having a place in the file than a 'Classic' Monaco.

Now I'm all for a little banter and idolising YOUR team but not to the point when it can be seen as ignorance and disrespect. But I also understand English is very much a 2nd language to you so you may be a little misunderstood and words can be lost in translation.

So can we please just ease up on this debate. I agree with some of your points Electus such as Ligue 1 being underrated and some of the great players that have played in that league. However I have to agree also with Mike & johnlennon's views on this matter.

I share your disappointment in not having more French teams in the file but it was simply a tactical decision to have this file released alot sooner than it would have been if I had seeked to create those said teams.

I understand your view, however noone would be playing it right now if I hadn't released this BETA. To be honest it's not true to the term in that the file is very much what I wanted it to be at this stage, I just wanted to stress that it is still a work in progress file and updates (as with ever other file) will be needed.

I was hoping that if someone finds errors or has an issue with a certain element then it will be looked into and corrected if need be. Some people will edit it themselves to tailor to their tastes or whatever so hence the release of the file.

I am happy with the current state of the file to be shared, believe me if I wasn't you wouldn't have it right now. But rest assured, I can see where you are coming from and I too want this to be the finished product as soon as possible.

Unfortunately I haven't got the PC version at the moment but I'll download the file and compare it to the one I have. If it isn't the same then I'll upload the right one.

You can, as requested, try converting it yourself. You will need to download Pesfan editor 6. Download the ps2 version of the option file from the first post. Now run the program, load your pc file which you want to be converted as OF1. Now go to 'Open OF2' and select the classic team file. Now use the option 'OF2>OF1 and then this will convert the file into PC format. Now just save the file to ensure the changes take place and there you go.

Well the best way is with the pesfan editor using the OF2 import tool. It's too complicated to explain here but once you get the hang of how to use the program it should become clear.

If the file you have is correct then yes please do upload it. I'm a little confused as to what's going one with the PC links. As far as I can understand, one of the links works but the other is duff?

I adhere to strict rules on the players as mentioned previous. Overmars should really be at Arsenal rather than Barca. However Ajax would lose the majority of their greatest players if their years there weren't taken into account. I strongly recommend if you are not happy with a player in a certain team then you can always register players in & out of any team. Just remember to put Schmeichel in Villa. ;)

Fullbacks were overlapping and joining attack but I suspect it's vulnerable in PES
Grosics was playing sometimes as a second sweeper in penalty box but it's impossible to design in PES undfortunately

Well, i was going to because he did play for us for a number of years, but he went back to Ajax and all in all spent the same time there if not more, i'm not sure. Even though he also managed both sides, he's Dutch and that, i guess, tilted the scale in their favour.

Yeah, i think he wants the complete 'finished file', but in my opinion, this is finished as a V1, it's not really a BETA, all that needs changing are some transfers, maybe update kits, and if Krook is gonna add any more teams.

If you have the PESFAN Editor, that would be the best way.

You can do it in game i think, but you will have to put Classic Celtic in the same slot as it is on Krook's.

I have created them on mine, so i might release an update sometime in the future.....

That is true, but i did release mine first and do the teams first, all i have taken from krooks is some apps for marsielle, villa and a couple for celtic, and the national squads!!

I forgot to realise i had most of the players to make the national squads already on my file!! doh!!

It would be good to combine our efforts, however I can never estimate how much time I can put into a project week in week out.

At the minute I need to make some edits and strengthen the file and then we'll see if I can combine forces with someone on a larger scale.

Well I have lots of exams/assignments due soon so unfortunately my priorities have changed.

I do plan to tidy a few things up and make subtle changes to the file in the next few weeks. However in adding extra content and seriously improving the state of the file I can't see happening until Easter break.

Thing is, I know of alot more projects that have a much larger scope than my current file so people will want theirs more than mine. If the demand is great enough then I will try and put in as much time as possible into the file, but if not then I will probably step out of the option file game and hope that the content of my file can and will be used for other projects.

As for Marseille, I'm not adding those mentioned players as according to my 'rules' they shouldn't really belong there. However the user can easily add them in if they wish.

Krook, I've got very stupid question but hope you (or anybody who reads this) wil help me.. :)
I've got an idea to collect some players from your OF and johnlennon's (also I've tried to create several ones by myself) and design some Team. Don't know yet which way it will be named but probably England - Post War Greats. It includes names like Wright, Mortensen etc. Just collected players who played for England from 1946 till 1960. From Lawton to Haynes.
Actually the only purpose was to create something able to compete with your Classic Hungary. To restore that famous clash at Wembley, hehe..
So.. I did what Pesfan Editors advised, created Excel sheet with stats etc but - How to put ready Excel stuff back to OF? :) this is my first attempt so that's why a question looks so stupid
