Goalkeepers
http://www.football.fr/fr/images/200626/gig-buffon.jpg
Name: Gianluigi Buffon
Date of Birth: 28/01/78
Height: 191cm
Nationality: Italian
Number: 1
Buffon, has won trophies at all levels of the game, including the World Cup with the Azzurri, in Italy the Serie A and Serie B championships and Coppa Italia with Juventus and lastly in Europe, winning the UEFA Cup with Parma. He has numerous personal accolades to his name including being named the best goalkeeper in both Italy and the World, he has won the IFFHS Best Goalkeeper award three times in the four past seasons. The season he lost out to Petr Cech, he was injured for the majority of the season, he reclaimed his title upon his return by more than doubling the score achieved by second place Lehmann.
Buffon is often thought to be older than he is, this is illusion is perhaps caused by the fact he has been playing top flight football regularly since the age of seventeen for Parma and then Juventus. He was even introduced into the Italian first team at the age of 19, a place he has since more than cemented, having racked up an astonishing number of caps. Nearly eighty caps at twenty-nine is an impressive feat, but considering he has suffered numerous long term injuries that have kept him out of some tournaments and that he has competed for the position against the likes of Toldo and Peruzzi...
Buffon is tall and athletic, he boasts lightning reflexes and the ability to stop shots that would appear impossible. There is far more to his game than his athleticism however, his biggest asset is his technical ability, often he makes critical saves look far too simple through excellent positioning and an ability to read the game second to none. His awareness on the pitch often gives him the edge in one-on-one encounters, enabling him to take the ball from a strikers' foot before they even have chance to unleash a shot. He is a commanding presence in any penalty area, and has the vocal chords to organise any defense, and a defense that will feel all the more confident for his presence.

Number: 6
Position: Defensive/Centre Midfield
Massimo Ambrosini first played for Cesena, but his first major opportunity came when he signed for AC Milan, however he has mainly remained a fringe player for the Rossoneri. Despite some high level performances, he was hampered by injury problems, and it wasn't until the last term that he finally, 'completely' overcame his injuries. After getting a handful of opportunities in the first team, his hard working top class performances cemented a first team place from coach Carlo Ancelotti. In the end making a number of key appearances in vital games, in the Champion's League and Serie A, with the Milanese he has won four Scudetto's and two Champion's League medals.
He has also made a number of appearances for the Azzurri, however the injury problems also denied him a consistent place in the national side. He has shown great resilience to continually return to the side after numerous injuries, and this is one of the many qualities he brings to the pitch. Along with that he possesses great drive and determination, relentless running, tough tackling and provides a serious aerial threat.

While he is more than capable in front of goal, and regularly hits the back of the net his dribbling, passing and teamwork are all just as important as his long range drives. He is technically excellent on the ball and a combination of pace, suprising body strength and close control sees him often skip passed defenders before either burning through on goal or supplying a deadly ball into the box from wide positions.

'El Nino Maravilla', the wonder boy of Chilean football, owned by Udinese but loaned out to Colo Colo for whom he helped to the championship title alongside other gifted players. He has featured heavily for Chile at all levels of international football, at the age of eighteen he's the current star of the U-20 World Cup. Equally adept at creating and scoring, Sanchez is a fantastic prospect for the future yet is also already more than capable of turning a game on its head. He has great technique and the ability to carve open a defense with his passing, then with an abundance of tricks can take the ball past defenders and has the class to finish of his moves as well as others. With such ability at such a tender age he should prove a wonderful signing for LSA, for many years to come.

Name: Hernan Crespo
Date of Birth: 05/07/75
Height: 184cm
Nationality: Argentinian
Number: 9
Position: Striker
Starting with major Argentinian side River Plate, Crespo's fine performances and impressive goal tally earned him a transfer to European fotoball as Parma came calling for his services. Then ensued a particularly succesful career in Italian football. His reputation as a deadly striker grew and grew, and for both Parma and his next team, Rome based, Lazio he scored over a goal every other game. This amazing record is replicated in his international career, giving him one of the most impressive goal scoring records in world football today. He then transferred to the Nerazurri of Milan, where his career saw his first season of little success in front of goal.
A new chapter began when Chelsea, through Ambramovich millions, bought Crespo for a staggering £16.8m. Depite scoring and clever play he was not well received by some sections of the Chelsea 'faithful' and after being left out by Mourinho, Crespo returned to Milan on loan, this time however to the red half. He again found his form, but at the end of the season returned to Inter Milan on loan from Chelsea.
Crespo's career has never been particularly based on his pace, so even now as he reaches toward thirty-two years of age his tried and tested methods still serve him well. He uses great movement, clever play and excellent anticipation and reflexes to ensure he gets chances, and when he does his array of finishing talent results in the ball often hitting the back of the net. He is also renounded for great aerial prowess, scoring goals from some range with his head and often climbing above defenders to get on the end of a cross. It would be a great surprise if Crespo didn't bag more than his fair share of goals this season coming in Division 3.

Position: Attacking Midfield/Striker
Del Piero started his career with Italian club Padova at the age of sixteen, after impressing there, Juventus came in and Alessandro has been with the Bianconeri ever since, becoming more than synonomous with the club. In his time at the club Del Piero has racked up over two hundred goals and in doing so became the club's all time highest scorer. Generally playing behind one or two out and out strikers, Pinturicchio likes to play in the hole and drift out to the flanks. He is blessed with a wondrous first touch, mazey dribbling, and a clinical finish, however he is equally adept at providing as he is scoring. One of the best dead ball specialist in the game, Del Piero scores penalties and free kicks with frightening consistency.
His illustrious career has seen him win numerous trophies with Juventus and Italy, including the World Cup, Serie A, Champion's League, UEFA cup and Coppa Italia. Del Piero has also been received much individual acclaim, Best Overall Player, Champion's League Top Scorer and was named by Pele in his list of the 125 greatest living players. Del Piero stayed with Juventus as they were demoted due to the Calciopoli scandal, however despite his age his form has seen him score over three goals for every four appearances and seen Juventus shoot to the top of the league and hold on to win the championship. Del Piero ended the season top scorer in the whole league, even though he does not play as an out and out striker and had to contribute more than just goals.
Fabrizio Ravanelli: "Del Piero is able to do certain things, that could seem extraordinary, but he does them like they were simple"

Bianchi has long been touted as hot prospect, and he is now beginning to live up to the initial hype. Tomasso Rocchi's career began in the lower divisions of Italy, however a late bloomer he made it to Treviso before being snapped up by Lazio. It is here he as really formed a reputation as an excellent all round forward, scoring nearly a goal every other appearance. He may be only 177cm tall, yet this doesn't stop him from being a huge aerial threat great timing and a huge leap sees him scoring his fair share with his head. His feet are just as useful however, being able to finish from a variety of positions. He is however more rounded than some strikers, he uses great upper body strength to hold the ball up and is useful on the ball powerful runs and good vision.

Lippi: 'I'd love to bring Xavi to the Olimpico...'
When questioned by a news reporter about his transfer dealings during the window, and the high proportion of Italians, LSA Originale? manager, Marcello Lippi had the following to say:
"When I arrived I was faced with a huge task, the playing staff weren't upto the required standard to compete in a tough league like this as was shown by the first half of the season. Speaking with the Chairman we agreed that wholesale changes had to be made if we were to achieve anything at all in the league. He supplied the funds and off I went... am I happy with my signings? Of course I am. Would I have liked to sign the likes Xavi, Rooney or Kanoute? Of course I would, I'd love to bring Xavi to the Olimpico. Unfortunately you may or may not be aware that these players are signed on contracts to other teams... and if they're not available I can't sign them. I have an obvious knowledge of Italy, and besides the biggest names it was a largely untapped market.
There is a wealth of talent in England and Spain unfortunately for us we were beaten to it so we have to look to where it's available."

Maresca on his way out of Turin?
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41393000/jpg/_41393651_maresca_getty.jpg
Maresca: Flagging down a taxi?
Reports from the the Stadio Olimpico aren't confirmed, it is understood however that ace midfielder Enzo Maresca could be leaving LSA come the end of the season. While an accomplished player Marcello Lippi has struggled to find a place for Maresca, who has in turn played few games since Lippi's decision to go with a three man midfield. LSA Supreme Gigli was questioned earlier as he left a board meeting, but he could not be drawn on transfer dealings.
"Many players may leave come the transfer window, many players may come in. We are currently happy with the players in our sqaud however, only if we receive a sizeable offer will we consider any major departures. I cannot however categorically state whether any of our players will still be here next season, I can't say as I don't know what the future holds."
"If a club makes a bid we will then decide whether, or not, to proceed with negotiations. We have a couple of players on loan this season, and we may look to make those deals permanent or strengthen the squad in other areas."
It is thought that a bid of in excess of £10 million would be seen as 'sizeable', but with promotion being a key target for LSA next season any departure of key players will have to see the squad strengthened.

Next Season's Kits Released
As the first season draws to a close there's still a lot of building with in the club structure. President Giovanni commissioned the redesign of the club crest, with the bull of Turin being his only request. The final design is a simple, modernistic approach and represents the clubs desire to look to the future.

Not only is there a new club crest, after negotiations all season a new deal has been struck with sportswear giant Puma to supply new kits for next season. The contract could be extended depending on performances of the next season, and there after. With the board being busy, the club will also begin a new sponsorship with famous Italian brewers Peroni, and shirts will sport the premium brew logo for Peroni Nastro Azzurro as seen below. Both shirts, now available in the online shop, free delivery on the first thousand orders, so be the first to wear the new shirts.

Aguero 'loves life at LSA'
http://www.sergio-aguero.net/aguero.jpg
Aguero celebrates another of his goals
Good news for LSA Originale? fans, there are whispering around the Olimpico that there will be a bid to make the current move permanent. Giovanni Cobolli Gigli had already hinted at the clubs intentions, however the rumours are strengthening and recent comments made by the player have certainly added fuel to the fire.
In a short interview with La Gazzetta Aguero had nothing but superlatives to say about his current club.
"I played football as a kid to have fun, and I still want to enjoy my football, here at LSA I get to do that. There's a great team spirit and since the arrival of Marcello [Lippi] the morale in the dressing room has rocketed. We were sitting second bottom in the table but all that's changed, we're playing good football now and getting points, and that's what we all want.
The fans here are great and after a poor first half of the season they stuck by us and really helped us through, me especially. After just moving here on loan and the poor performances I was really downheartened, but we've turned all that around and I love life here at LSA. I'd certainly be happy to stay here, I get regular first team football and that's important to me, I also feel I can learn a lot from Alessandro [Del Piero]. He's a great player and a model professional, and I enjoy playing with him.
However it's not for me to decide, if I have to go back then I will fight for a place in the starting eleven, however if the clubs can agree a deal I'd be more than happy to sign a permanent contract."
It remains to be seen as to whether LSA can prise him away from Galaxy FC, Florentino Perez is a wily president, and we'll have to wait and see if a deal can be struck. As it stands the news is good for LSA fans.

Aguero to stay put...
http://www.valechumbar.com/media/uploads/nucleus/20060712-aguero_20060531_t.jpg
Sergio Aguero training.
LSA sensation Sergio Aguero, who has thrilled fans at the Olimpico and become an integral part of Lippi's strikeforce, will be staying right where he is. Reports coming out of the club on the morning of the game against Wellzy indicated that negotiations are going smoothly and it is now thought that a deal has been agreed.
This will be great news for the fans and appears to be the first succesful negotiation for Gigli, who has apparently been handed a fairly long shopping list by, LSA manager, Marcello Lippi. The deal is thought to be in the region of £10 million (about $20 million), with the payments being structured over time. The initial fee is thought to be much lower, with the majority of the payment being concluded at the end of next season.
This is seen by many pundits as a huge plus, securing Aguero's signature was thought to be key in LSA's bid for promotion from Division 3 and to have done so even before the start of the Transfer Window is surely good news. The club can now turn their attention to other targets, some of whom are thought to be a centre forward and central midfield player. Many names have been linked with the club, and if their Transfer Window dealings are as successful as this it can only be promising for LSA fans.

Di Double Signing!
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42142000/jpg/_42142888_cup12.jpg
Di Michele celebrates scoring for Palermo
Marcello Lippi once again pulls out a surprise signing, David Di Michele departing from FC Corleone in order to make his way across to Turin. The deal is reportedly in the region of £4m. Di Michele comes with a wealth of footballing experience, he played only two games for FC Corleone yet in both games he was part of the winning team. Plucked out of Serie B by Udinese, he also played for both Reggina and Palermo in the tp flight of Italian football.
He is noted for his pace on and off the ball, generally playing off the front man or wide. He is a technically gifted player with great technique, the ability to finish moves neatly or to rifle shots from well outside the area. He is predominantly right footed, but is capable with both, allowing him to play down either side. Just as for scoring and creating goals, from both open play and set pieces he will be a handful for any defence.
The signings don't stop there though...
http://www.dw-world.de/image/0,,1746110_1,00.jpg
Di Natale after netting for Udinese
Antonio Di Natale, Italian international, has also signed in a three year deal with LSA Originale? Lippi's presence is rumoured to be a major factor in the decision to leave Real Verdadera. If the reports drifting about each club are to be believed the deal is between £6m and £7m in value.
Di Natale's similarities with Di Michele go beyond just their names, Di Natale is also a very strong dribbler that can play out wide or behind the front man. Di Natale has all the attributes needed to play in these positions, and is a truly all round performer. He may only be 172cm in height, but a good leap makes up for that, and a surprising amount of upper body strength makes sure he isn't bullied by centre-backs!
His main strengths however are his pace, agility and reactions. Even coming from deep he can get in behind the defence to deliver a deadly cross or provide a tidy finish to a through ball. He is more than capable of playing in front of the defence however, great vision combined with neat passing make him an excellent provider for others. Yet with great technique he is certainly able to hit the net from some distance, and has been known to score from extremely wide positions.
Italian pundits are suggesting the pair are more likely to be used in a wide capacity, with Di Natale looking likely to be first choice. The versatility and class of both will be causing concern for all Division 3 full backs who will have to consider a way to prevent the pair from causig mayhem in their backline.

The players keep rolling in... and out!
http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2005/05/05/milan_wideweb__430x297.jpg
A jubilant Massimo Ambrosini
The signings have been coming in thick and fast for LSA Originale?, it started with the aquisition of Di Michele and Di Natale on the opening day, after a pre-agreed deal for Aguero. The following day saw still more activity from Gigli, it began with the young Juventus starlet Claudio Marchisio, a special talent having played twenty six games for Juventus at just 21 years of age. His arrival saw the departure of Claudio Maldonado who failed to make an impact last term. He was later joined in midfield by Massimo Ambrosini who signed from Headhunters FC for a nominal fee of £5m. Along with Brocchi, their wealth of experience should prove of great value to both the club, and to Marchisio.
After a succesful period with LSA Liedson's future no lies elsewhere with FC Vipereffsee, after his services were relinquished for a fee of £9.5m. Liedson's departure opened the way for another big signing, Tommaso Rocchi, former MVB Arkestra striker, who signed a four year deal with the club. The final sum totaled over £8m for Rocchi, who is now looking likely to spearhead the LSA Originale? attack as Mido also departed for £4m. When asked however Gigli would not confirm that spending on strikers is finished.
The defensive line has also seen a reshuffle, Matt Taylor's loan period has finished and he has returned to Norway United as Gigli refused to meet the club's valuation of the attacking full back. The void left was quickly filled however, Lippi was keen to bring the Italian international Manuel Pasqual to Turin, from FC Inter Course. A bid of £5m was accepted, and Pasqual signed a five year deal, on a salary understood to be quite 'competitive'. Sebastiano Siviglia is the last name to join the ranks, in a quiet deal for the small fee of £1.5m.
There were other departures however, Enzo Maresca's long expected move came when FC Vipereffsee paid £8.5m for his services. Lippi had only good words to say about Maresca in his departure and wished him all the best for his career. Centre-back Felipe's departure, while also expected, was not so amicable. He found himself confinded to the bench for the majority of his time under Lippi and was informed he was surplus to requirements at the Stadio Olimpico. He moved on to FC Cali for £7m, as they look to prepare for life in Division 2.
Marcello Lippi is scheduled for a press conference some time early in the next week, where will perhaps learn more of his intentions for the rest of the window. For now things are looking positive at the Olimpico and fans are sure to be pleased with some excellent signings.

Two of the biggest captures in LSA history!
http://www.wldcup.com/pictures/wld2006/0606/pic141.jpg
hernan Crespo scores for Argentina against arch-rivals Brazil
Today, to much surprise from the footballing community, Hernan Crespo signed a three year contract with LSA Originale?. A deal, involving recently signed Gionatha Spinesi going the other way along with a cash payment, saw Crespo snatched from under the nose of other interested teams.
Crespo has had a succesful tenure at Clockwork Orange and joins LSA in high spirits, his goal poaching instincts, off the ball movement and aerial threat are sure to result in a bundle of goals in Division 3. President of LSA, Gigli, has reportedly indicated that while the spending is not completely over, there is unlikely to be a great deal of new faces arriving after this big name striker.
However before Crespo's arrival, two other names were confirmed as LSA players for next season. Firstly David Pizarro formerly of Newton Heath FC, Pizarro arrives with a wealth of Division 1 experience that should come in useful, especially if LSA Originale? are to push for promotion this term. Pizarro is expected to be starter alongside Massimo Ambrosini or Christian Brocchi in central midfield.
He may not be as combative as his fellow midfielders but makes up for that with technical ability, he is a gifted passer of the ball and has a nack for creating space for himself to pick out his passes. Pizarro will sure to be looking to get the ball down the flanks to the likes of Di Natale and Aguero, ore perhaps sliding one through for the ever dangerous Crespo or the battling Tommaso Rocchi.
Zdenek Grygera may be wishing he'd delayed his transfer, for unfortunately he signed for LSA on the same day as two huge summer transfers. That doesn't lessen his impact what so ever, for an initial fee of £1m, that will increase to £3m come the end of the season, he will certainly strengthen the backline considerably. He is strong, confident and experienced at every level, having received nearly forty caps for the Czech Republic. He is most comfortable at right back, but his versatility allows him to play centre-back and defensive midfield to a high standard.
Only one or two more signings are expected in the media, but LSA have so far managed to surprise everyone with their signings.. will it continue?

Defence is strengthened as new faces arrive!
http://www.thethaovietnam.com.vn/Library/Images/11/2006/10/11-10/Kakha%20Kaladze.jpg
Kaladze at press interview
LSA Originale? have announced the signings of two new faces, however the media see the two signings as drastically different. Twenty-nine year old Kakhaber Kaladze has signed a four year deal with LSA, after a swap deal with Clockwork Orange that sees Stefano Fiore and Sebastiano Siviglia going in the opposite direction. Kaladze has had interest from a number of clubs but after long negotiations he agreed terms with the Turin club.
In a press conference, scheduled to unveil him to the public, Kaladze clued the press into his motives for dropping down to a Division 3 side; 'I feel that LSA Originale? are building a squad here, they have ambitions that I share. I do expect to be a Division 2 player once again... we know it's going to be difficult, but I'm willing to do everything I can to make it happen and I know everyone else here will do the same. We all have a goal here and hopefully we can make the fans happy!'
When questioned he said; 'Of course there was no bad blood between me and Clockwork Orange, it just happened that our interests split. I was no longer in their plans as a club. I cant hold it against them, I enjoyed my stay there but football is like that sometimes. We have to move on, and if I'm lucky enough to return their I do hope I'll get a warm reception, for they're a great set of fans and I thank them for their support!'
The other signing has yet to have such an illustrious career, for he is only twenty years of age. Domenico Criscito signed for a straight fee of £2.5m, he has joined the club on a five year deal for a competitive salary, especially for his age. He has been been tipped for a glittering future by many people, yet his greatest compliment came from arguably the best goalkeeper in the word, Gianluigi Buffon who described him as the best young defender in Italy.
It is expected however that Criscito may spend his first season away on loan in order for him to garner first team experience. Marcello Lippi has made it clear that he is a keen admirer, and is looking forward to working with the youngster in order to make the most of his talent.
.
Nice article that.
You've done an amazing job here considering the state of the team when you took over. All credit to you for that and I can see promotion on the cards

Plaudits for LSA captain!
http://www.icicom.up.pt/blog/quarto-arbitro/arquivos/del%20piero%20resolveu%20diant e%20da%20reggina.jpg
Del Piero celebrates scoring another great free-kick!
LSA Originale? legend and captain has received a high honour as the season comes to a close, with only half a season with LSA he was included in the division team of the season. His contributions to the team has been magnificent this season, his dead balls and creativity have led to numerous goals and a number of embarrasing moments for opposition defenders. LSA manager Marcello Lippi had more praise to lavish upon his captain:
'Alex [Del Piero] is a special player, when I arrived here I heard news that he may be available and I didn't think twice. He brings so much to the team that it's hard to comprehend unless you feel it first hand. His obvious skill on the pitch is only one part of Alex's magic, it's his manner behind the scenes, not only is he a wonderful person who always has a smile for everyone, he's always willing to train hard.'
'The youngsters here such as Sergio [Aguero] and Claudio [Marchisio] are excellent players, but this is something they can really learn from Del Piero. He's more often than not the first player to arrive and the last to leave, not only is he naturally gifted but he puts in the hard work and that makes him extra special. He also manages to bring the best out of his team-mates, as a captain he's always looking to help younger players and likes to pass on his experience, that experience alongside his gifted touch is irreplaceable!'
In other news, Del Piero is going to be joined in Turin by Slovakian left back Marek Cech, who has joined LSA Originale? for a fee of £2.5m. He is expected to provide cover for Manuel Pasqual and Di Natale down the left. This signing sees Luciano Zauri head out for £4.5m to Foca Juniors. Del Piero had comments to make on both his award and his new team-mates:
'I think our management have done a great job during this window, they've brough in some key players and strengthened the depth of the squad. Players like Hernan Crespo and Kakhaber Kaladze need no introduction, yet they has also brough in some exciting young talents. I play against Criscito in training and you can see the quality he possesses already. Claudio [Marchisio] and Raffaele [Palladino] are really great to play with, their enthusiasm is refreshing and I just hope that I can help them in anyway possible to make the most of their talent.'
'I transferred mid-season to LSA and Marcello entrusted me with the captaincy, we managed to climb the table, and to end the season with such a reward is a great honour. I must say though that I couldn't have achieved this without playing along side such great players, and with such wonderful back room staff keeping us fit and directing us on the pitch. So I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me achieve this, it's an award for all of us, hopefully next season we can push on and get the promotion the fans deserve. It will be difficult, but we have to strive to do our best, that's what the fans expect of us and I feel we owe them that at least for the great support they give us.'
Whether Del Piero can lead his team to promotion will have to be seen, but so far Lippi's dealings in the transfer market seem to have strengthened the squad over all and should see them finish higher than they did last season.

Shock exit from LSA!
http://www.lepoint.fr/content/system/media/2/20070626/2007-06-26T130427Z_01_NOOTR_RTRIDSP_2_ OFRSP-SPORT-FOOTBALL-ITALIE-PARIS-20070626.jpg
Fans will no longer get to see Di Michele in LSA colours... he's already on his way!
In a transfer that shocked our correspondents here at Gazzetta, David Di Michele has been transferred to Norway United for £7m before he even stepped onto the pitch for the Turin club. The deal, £3m more than LSA originally paid for him from FC Corleone, is seemingly a good piece of business, even if it is a somewhat strange affair. When he was unveiled pundits were discussing whether he'd be starting, or a utility player... none predicted this.
According to reports coming out of the club, the move was induced by FIGC's enquiry into illegal betting on games. After the probe into the player's conduct, he was immediately transfer listed and clubs were contacted about a potential move. The official line on the club website is that the board felt the offer was 'too good to refuse', though cynics still suggest otherwise. LSA supremo, Gigli, was reportedly unimpressed with the allegations and insisted the player was released by the club in order to ensure that the club was not brought into disrepute.
In other news Grygera's arrival has seemingly displaced Marco Cassetti who is now concluding a move to FC Cali for a fee in the region of £5m. With Garics departure earlier in the window, this leaves LSA short of capable right-backs. If the rumour mills are to be believed Alessandro Birindelli is on the verge of signing a two year deal to fill that void.

LSA bolster strikeforce!
http://blog.mypress.jp/imagew/ye9856/338778_large.jpg
Rolando Bianchi celebrates scoring for the Reggina, along with his team-mates...
In a deal worth around £9m, weighted out heavily by part exchange, Rolando Bianchi has joined LSA Originale? from FC Cali. Gamberini, Montella and Criscito have gone in the opposite direction, though Criscito's stay will be but one season on loan. Since signing it was expected that Criscito would be sent out on loan, with manager Marcello Lippi hoping he will gain some first team experience.
Rolando Bianchi brings more experience than his age might suggest, he's played plenty of games in both Serie A and at U21 level for Italy. Last term he managed a staggering eighteen goals in the league for Reggina, an impressive feat considering the club only achieved fourteenth position. This fine display of goalscoring ability drew the attention of AC Milan, AS Roma and Manchester City among others.
Those heading to FC Cali as part of the Bianchi deal, will be accompanied by team-mate Luis Jimenez who signed for £7m in a seperate deal. Bianchi isn't the only new arrival in Turin, Miguel Angulo also signed a deal with LSA for a fee of £4m, he is expected to play down the right hand side of the midfield in part with Aguero.
In a deal slightly overshadowed by other recent events, Richard Dunne has been swapped for Brazilian centre-back Cris, in a half season loan deal.

Alexis Sanchez prepares another mazey dribble...
LSA Originale? have completed the signing of Chilean wonderkid Alexis Sanchez, if the reports are correct it took £2m to pry him away. It was expected that Sanchez would be initially loaned out to get him some first team experience, however that now appears less than likely with Bianchi having just been loaned out.
New signing Rolando Bianchi has moved to Foca Juniors for a season long loan, without Bianchi LSA would be a little thin on the ground if Sanchez was to leave as well. Therefore it is assumed we'll be seeing him in action sooner than previously expected.
LSA have also signed former Real Verdavera centre-back David Rozehnal for £2.5m, with the signing of Kaladze, Cris and Ze Castro that takes the number of centre-backs at the club to five along with Dario Dainelli. Rumours suggest that one of these players will have to depart else, the squad rotation may be made somewhat difficult. Whether that will come to pass is another matter.

LSA bring in new goalkeeper...
http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/fifa/gen/fifa/20060709/i/2021700318.jpg
Gigi Buffon celebrates winning the World Cup with Italy...
LSA Originale? have shattered their previous record transfer fee by bringing in fromer Clockwork Orange goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon. The deal is worth nearly £20m, however the initial payment is only £11m along with up and coming goalkeeper Scott Carson, there will then be a further £3m to be paid come the end of the season. It is rumoured that Clockwork Orange also have first options on both Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero should they leave Turin.
Buffon brings with experience beyond his years, at only twenty-nine, the Azzurri shot-stopper has won the World Cup with Italy, the Scudetto twice with Juventus, and the Champions League also with the Bianconeri. Alongside team medals, he is a decorated with many individual titles, having been voted the 'Best Goalkeeper' in both Italy and the World numerous times. Pele also included him in his list of the greatest living footballers, one of only eight goalkeepers included, others consisting of the likes of Peter Schmeichel, Gordon Banks and Dino Zoff.
As noted above, the capture sees a player going in the opposite direction, one with a promising future. LSA fans have already spoken of their disappointment at seeing Carson depart, however the vast majority have also indicated the disappointment is nothing compared to the magnitude of the joy at Buffon's arrival. The Turin club also still have young starlet Gianluca Curci, of Roma and the Italy U21s, as a reserve, a player with as glittering a future as any.
Buffon spoke only shortly to the media but had the following to say: "Many have questioned my decision in playing in a lower division, but when I signed for LSA I knew it was a team with winning spirit. There are champions aplenty here, Alex [Del Piero] and Massimo [Ambrosini] I of course know well having played with them."
"Yet there are also many faces I know from playing against, Hernan Crespo and Tommaso Rocchi are fantastic strikers that have given me plenty to think about in our past confrontations. There's a winning pedigree to the squad, and I just hope I can get settled in and start repaying the respect and faith the manager and fans here have already shown me."
In a week that saw LSA Originale? knocked out of the Tournoi de Mjölner by Racing Club Avenido, this news should certainly raise the fans spirit. Gigli's team had a fantastic run in the competition playing some terrific football, and battling against the odds to beat teams from higher divisions, but in the end didn't have enough to get past the Division 1 champions. The team are expected to play a select few friendlies to maintain both fitness and form, before embarking on their promotion bid.

Further surprises in Turin...
http://www.as-roma.dk/images/Aquilani8.jpg
Aquilani drives past his opponent...
Not even twenty-four hours after LSA Originale? rocked the league by signing Gianluigi Buffon from Clockwork Orange, they've surprised us here at Gazzetta again! Many thought after that latest signing, Gigli would be finished with the transfer market for this window. Evidently we were wrong, after spying an opportunity Lippi specified Aquilani was required, as has oft been the case this window, Gigli did not disappoint his head coach.
Aquilani's arrival has seen relatively new-signing Daivd Pizarro exit in the opposite direction. It is rumoured that Pizarro fell out of favour with backroom staff due to his attitude in training. It is expected that Aquilani will be starting in central midfield alongside Massimo Ambrosini, he is likely to have license to go forward to create and perhaps bag himself a couple of goals while Ambrosini protects the back four. Aquilani is obviously younger than Pizarro, but at 6'1" also brings a lot more physical presence to the midfield than the diminutive Pizarro.
Aquilani enjoyed a succesful campaign last term in Division 3 with Real Verdadera, and played one of the most significant roles in their promotion. Aquilani will be hoping to replicate last season's achievements this time with LSA Originale?, having taken a step back down a division, he explained the move in a short press conference:
"The staff here have shown me a great deal of respect here, it was a difficult decision to leave [Real Verdadera], I enjoyed a fabulous time there and made many friends. The time was right however, and I am glad of the return to Italy, it is my homeland and I feel more comfortable here than I ever could in Spain."
"I now have to get down to some hardwork in order to get ready for the coming season, as I refuse to take anything for granted. There is a lot of quality in this side, and I hope to learn a thing or two from experienced players like Ambrosini and Del Piero. There is plenty of competition here and I will have to prove myself deserving."
LSA Supremo Giovanni Cobolli Gigli was not present at the press conference but was seen leaving the training ground later on. On the topic of further transfers he had only a few words to say; 'We're happy with the squad we have at our disposal. Marcello [Lippi] feels ready for the new season, and preperations are well underway. I don't forsee any further changes in personnel but you can never say never!'
Despite Gigli's claims that there is always the possibility of further deals, we'd be truly stunned to see any more changes to the Turin club in this window. Yet we've been wrong before!

Azzurri coach gives youngsters a boost...

Bonzo FC and Azzurri coach...
In an interview concerning Francesco Totti's international retirement, the subject took a different turn, focusing on those expected to make the ste up to the national side rather than those leaving it. The Italy coach had the following to say about LSA Originale? and Clockwork Orange starlets:
“I think the breakout stars of this season will come from the Under-21 side. People like Giampaolo Pazzini, Riccardo Montolivo, Antonio Nocerino, Domenico Criscito, Alessandro Rosina and Raffaele Palladino.”
Surely a boost to morale for those youngsters to know that the first team coach has faith in them.

Argentinian, Almiron lands in Turin...

Argentinian silences the opposition...
Christian Brocchi said an emotional goodbye to Turin as he completed his £5.5m move to 'Spanish side' Real Verdadera. Brocchi was brought to LSA almost immediately upon the arrival of Marcello Lippi, although he spent only half a season with the club, a great rapport grew with the fans. He was a first choice midfielder in his time, and played an important role in the turn around of the clubs fortunes as the heartbeat of the midfield.
With Aquilani, Ambrosini, Marchisio left to hold the fort in the centre of midfield Lippi might have been looking to bring in reinforcements. Lippi explained to the crowd of reporters that Brocchi had been pleased with the move, and that he had left the club with many friends.
'Christian [Brocchi] is a fantastic player, and one that I wasn't looking to sell, however when the offer came in it was sizeable. I discussed the deal with Christian, and made it clear that he was still more than welcome here, but I told him if the deal interested him the club wouldn't stand in the way.'
The club allowed Brocchi to move on, yet announced the arrival of replacements the very next day. Sergio Almiron signed for a fee around £2.5m on a three year deal, having impressed for Empoli the midfielder brings physical presence and a deal of creativity to the club. At twenty-six years of age the player is heading into the best years of his career and he will hope he can add a Division 3 title to his trophy cabinet.

Mahamadou battles against his former club...
Mahamadou Diarra, who has played for clubs like Lyon, Real Madrid and Newton Heath is causing quite a stir amongst LSA fans. The Mali international arives on a one year loan deal, and is fully expected to return to Newton Heath at the end of that period. Despite this, fans have had his name printed on their shirts in their droves.
The midfielder is expected to play an important role in the clubs drive for promotion, having won the French league and the Spanish La Liga he certainly comes with a winning pedigree. He will be most likely be employed to protect the back four, in a similar role to that recently vacated by Christian Brocchi's departure.
It wasn't all smiles though, as Diarra's arrival was part of a deal taking David Rozehnal from LSA to Newton Heath permanently. Diarra's loan move was however only a part of the deal for Rozehnal, which also sees £5m landing in the LSA coffers. There's been large scale changes at LSA Originale? this window, and it's expected that there will be at least one further signing to provide cover for the squad.

Vedran Corluka signs for LSA...
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/8711/corlukaht3.jpg
Corluka shuts out Frank Lampard, against England...
Croatian centre-back Vedran Corluka has become the latest signing at LSA Originale?, at only twenty-one he isn't the most experienced centre-back at the club but makes up for that with raw talent. The youngster already has a handful of caps for his national side, and has proved himself against top sides such as England.
Corluka is one of the few centre-backs tall enough to replace the towering Rozehnal, matching the Czech's 191cm height. Despite his obvious advantage in the air, that's not the only side to his game, a well rounded youngster who is comfortable on the ball allowing him to play at either centre-back or on the right side of the defence.
When asked about the Croatian in an interview experienced centre-back Dario Dainelli had only good things to say about his new team-mate. "I feel this is a great step for the club, having watched Corluka his talent is plainly evident. I was particularly impressed with his reading of the game, especially for one quite so young."
Dainelli continued to make some predictions; "I'm yet to train with him, as the deal has only recently been finalised, however it's a prospect I'm relishing. I only hope that the older lads can help him make the most of his potential, that myself, Kakha and Cris in particular can pass on our experience and help him progress.'

The Don laughs off comments from Merseyside USA manager...
http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/sports/2006-07/12/xin_15070312190205590883.jpg
MarcelloLippi enjoys a nice cigar...
Marcello Lippi has won virtually every top prize the game has to offer, including five Serie A titles, the Champion's League and most recently winning the World Cup with Italy. Perhaps it's this pedigree that allows him to brush off the comments of Steve Nicol. Nicol allegedly quipped that Diarra was unhappy with his loan move to LSA yet Lippi only laughed at the allegations.
"Nicol claims his 'sources' tell him? Who are his sources? Let's hope he doesn't pay them for they seem awfully mis-informed," laughs Lippi as he relaxes in a comfortable chair. "I personally discussed the move with Mahamadou, and we explained what we'll be doing here and his role in the team. He may well be playing in a lower division, yet his teammates are of a truly high calibre."
"Mahamadou has yet to speak to the public about the move, so I'm intrigued to hear of who his sources are? Perhaps jealousy is rearing it's ugly head over in Merseyside? Nicol would be best to look to his own new signings and ensure they're settling in well, and I, I assure him, will look to my own interests!" Winking to the press, Lippi departed the conference room.
Seemingly unperturbed by the comments Lippi appears to be well in control, and happy with his transfer window's progress thus far.

Alexis Sanchez celebrates a superb goal...
It is understood from the information coming out of LSA Originale? that Chilean wonderkid Alexis Sanchez is available for loan. It is thought that LSA head coach Marcello Lippi is interested in sending his hot prospect out on loan in order for him to garner more first team experience.
LSA supremo, Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, had a few words on the issue on his way into the office. Speaking to the journalists gathered around the Turin training complex; "Alexis is a terrific talent, and we are looking to do everything to aid in his development."
"We fully believe he'll be a top player for us, he's quick, confident on the ball and can comfortably beat players. Couple that with his astounding teamwork, especially for one so young, and we have a player with all the characteristics to succeed at the highest level."
"We believe it's in the best interest of all parties concerned to loan Alexis to another club, where he can improve and gain experience. While on loan I expect him to do great things, there are plenty of clubs in the league that would benefit greatly from having a player of such calibre in their squad."

Birindelli: "At this stage in my career I need first team football..."
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/gallery/ales2.jpg
Birindelli capatains Juventus...
Birindelli signed for LSA Originale? only one month ago, and despite appearing in a handful of friendly matches the veteran fullback has moved to Seattlewangsa FC. Birindelli who has played at the top level for many years will take a lot of experience with him to the Division 3 new-boys, which should prove invaluable as they look to get used to life in the division.
Reports coming from all sides indicate an ammicable split, with the staff at LSA having nothing but good words for Birindelli. In a press conference arranged to announce his departure, Birindelli was obviously torn in his move: "I have a lot of friends here, and Marcello [Lippi] has really welcomed me. There are a lot of people here that I will miss after the move, but I am sure I will see them again and I have to do what is right for my career. I'm not getting any younger and I need to be playing as much football as I can at this stage."
Marcello Lippi was keen to add: "The was always a place for Alessandro here, because he's a very good player and has a wealth of experience to off. When the bid came in for him, we discussing the possibilities, unfortunately he felt that he would get more first team opportunities moving to Seattlewangsa. I have a great deal of respect for Alessandro, and the bid equalled the fee we had paid for him, so I promised him that the decision was his to make."
"Everyone here at LSA which Alessandro the best in his endeavours, and hope that he knows that his presence will be surely missed," Lippi was keen to emphasize. It seems that the call of first team opportunities was too strong for Birindelli who would have to have competed with Grygera and Corluka at LSA. Birindelli is expected to play a vital role for Seattlewangsa and his experience and versatility will truly be a blessing for new manager Fabio Capello, who knows Birindelli from his time at Juventus.

Derbyshire joins LSA, but will have to wait for a debut...

Derbyshire delighted with yet another goal for Blackburn...
England starlet Matt Derbyshire has signed a three year contract with LSA Originale?, the youngster has four caps for England at U21 level and has two international goals to his name. He also has plenty of first team experience at club level, having impressed while on loan, the youngster was given his chance by Blackburn boss Mark Hughes. In his first season he impressed scoring nine goals, from thirty games in all competitions, however over half of those appearances were made as a substitute making the tally even more impressive.
Derbyshire has drawn the attention of more managers than just Lippi however, 'Boris Johnson' of Norway United is also a fan. Just moments after having signed the agreement, a loan offer was sent to LSA. Norway United would pay £1m for Matt Derbyshire's services for that season alone, effectively reducing the £3m fee paid by LSA for his signature. The Division 2 experience should stand Derbyshire in good stead for a return to LSA Originale?, especially if they succeed in their promotion bid.
"We discussed the possibility of a loan move before Matthew had agreed to join us, I don't like to sign a player on false pretences, so we discussed his future fully," Lippi explains. "He was quite happy with the arrangement and impressed with the facilities we have here. He's certainly a player with a grand future ahead of him."

Buffon: "We're ready to fight..."

Buffon directs traffic...
LSA Originale? have completed their final friendly of the pre-season period against Foca Juniors. The Turinese club have had an extremely busy transfer window, the club have spent a net figure of around £11m. Besides splashing around in the transfer market, the club have played numerous friendlies and had a fantastic run in La Tournoi de Mjolner, losing out only to the Division 1 champions.
The pre-season was a truly encouraging period for a club that was not so long ago tipped to finish bottom of the third tier. The side put on some great perfomances in the friendlies and the new players appear to be gelling well with each other, but it was in Le Tournoi de Mjolner that they impressed the most. On their way to the semi-finals the club beat two Division 2 teams and competed well with a further three clubs from higher divisions.
The players are, however, not letting the start go to their head. Number one goalkeeper and record transfer signing, Gianluigi Buffon has called for the team to remain completely focused. "We had a great pre-season, but that's over now! Now the hard work begins, this is where it counts, we can't afford to let ourselves get caried away," said the Italy international. "Thankfully, Marcello is great and keeping us grounded. We want to get to the next level, but we know it will be difficult and we're ready to fight."

LSA Originale? vs Real Lérida FC
Matchday - 1
http://pub.tv2.no/multimedia/na/archive/00196/antonio_cassano__fo_196133c.jp g
Preview:
LSA Originale? head coach, Marcello Lippi, will attempt to kickstart his promotion bid with three points today, as Turin plays host to Real Lérida. The Torineri are set to give a debut to fiery loan signing, Antonio Cassano, while other players will receive their first competetive start. The former Bari starlet, is expected to join Captain Alessandro Del Piero, who passed a late fitness test, and ace Argentine striker Hernan Crespo to form a three pronged attack.
Massimo Ambrosini is confined to the bench, however Di Natale, despite having been a shining light at a dour time for Italy, fails to make the bench and will be rested. There are few other surprises in what appears to be a first choice backline, including the likes of Kaladze and Buffon. Real Lerida's strikeforce will prove a stiff test for LSA's first game, however Lippi confirms that they are looking to pick up where they left off last season and secure early points in the promotion race.
Match Report:
Real Lerida kicked off the game in confident style, however LSA Originale? were the first to make a significant attempt on goal with Alberto Aquilani's long range drive stinging the palms of, Portugese stopper, Ricardo. The first quarter of an hour saw an intense midfield battle, with Milner putting the ball on Milito's foot for a fierce volley, only for a brave block from Dunne to deny him.
After a spell of pressure, LSA began to assert their dominance, and their prolonged attacking eventually paid off when Hernan Crespo turned Ben Haim to slot the ball neatly into the bottom corner. The match settled into a slower pace as the Torineri began to take hold of the game, retaining the majority of possession yet failing to make the most of their dominance.
The second half saw a revival from Real Lerida, with Milito and Yakubu looking dangerous, however sterling performances from Buffon, Kaladze and especially Dunne kept the ball out of the net. It wasn't until half-way through the second period that LSA got a real chance on goal, and that chance fell to Captain, Alessandro Del Piero who curled his free kick over the wall into the corner.
Lippi's men tied the match up a few minutes later when Tommaso Rocchi, replacing Antonio Cassano, picked up the pieces after Ricardo failed to hold onto a rasping shot from Del Piero. After a couple of minutes stoppage time, the referee drew a close on a what proved to be an eventful and entertaining match. LSA put on an impressive display, however Marcello Lippi was keen to point out that there was still certainly room for improvement.
LSA Originale: Buffon; Dunne, Kaladze, Grygera, Pasqual; M.Diarra, S.Almiron (Ambrosini 67), Aquilani; Del Piero, Cassano (Rocchi 79), Crespo (Palladino 82)

Italy call-up for LSA stars...
http://www.sport24.com/photos/1152814475.jpg
Italy chief Roberto Donadoni keeps an eye over Turin.
Roberto Donadoni has continued to watch LSA Originale? and it seems he has been suitably impressed, including six of Lippi's players in his squad. Gianluca Curci was not originally in the three goalkeepers, however the impressive U21 stopper was called-up when Christian Abbiati withdrew. Curci now joins team-mate Gianluigi Buffon and Dial Square FC first choice Marco Amelia.
The rest of LSA's players are more regular inclusions Manuel Pasqual misses out on a place for the qualifiers, with Zambrotta preferred. Combative midfielder Ambrosini and LSA's midfield starlet Aquilani both win places, however they face stiff competition for starting places from Gattuso and Andrea Pirlo. Antonio Di Natale is often employed out wide for LSA Originale? however the versatile former-Udinese may well play in a more advanced role for the Azzurri.
Many eyes will be watching Torineri captain Alessandro Del Piero, who missed the visit of Wan Seattlewangsa through injury this weekend. He has, however, been declared fit to play for the national team for whom all LSA fans will be hoping he can impress. Yet most importantly Lippi will be eager for him to complete the game unscathed, so he can be available to lead out the team against MVB Arkestra.

LSA Originale? vs Wan Seattlewangsa FC
Matchday - 2
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/columns/molinaro/gfx/del-piero_392.jpg
Preview:
This week the Stadio Olimpico plays host to Seattlewangsa, the second game of the season again sees LSA playing with the home advantage, but that's not the only advantage they may have. LSA Originale? are coming into the game on the back of a confident performance and three points, Capello's men are facing an uphill struggle after being penalised by ten points after their involvement in the first day scandal.
Despite the emphatic 3-0 win, Lippi is expected to make some changes to the starting line-up Gialuigi Buffon picked up a knock in training and is doubtful for the weekend. Raffaele Palladino, however, is set to start having impressed in the ten minutes against Real Lerida. Impressive loanee Antonio Cassano is expected to be confined to the bench despite doing relatively well on the right hand side of the attacking trio.
A lot of the focus will perhaps be directed at LSA captain, Alessandro Del Piero, who having already scored one free kick, drew a lot of plaudits. He connected well with Crespo in the opening game and created a lot of the Torineri's best opportunities, however whether he'll be fit to start is questionable. He only just passed a fitness test for the first game, which has seemingly taken it's toll. We shall have to, again, wait to see whether he can be ready in time to once more lead LSA to victory.
Breaking News: Del Piero fails late fitness test and doesn't even make the substitutes bench, in his absence the captain's armband is expected to pass on to Richard Dunne.
Match Report:
Confidence should have been high for LSA after a great opening performance against Real Lerida, however after the late withdrawal of talismanic captain Del Piero, fans were a little anxious. Lippi named several changes from the victorious first day side, with last season's wonderkid Sergio Aguero getting his first start of the season. There were also starts for Massimo Ambrosini and loan signing Cassetti.
Hernan Crespo managed to allay any fears only moments after kick off, Alberto Aquilani picked up the ball in the middle of park, spraying a long ball towards Aguero. The Argentinian brought the ball down out of the air before turning Rocha left and right until he found space to slip in international compatriot Crespo for a simple one on one. The experienced Crespo slipped the ball beneath Abbondanzieri, with all the composure expected from LSA's ace hitman.
The Argentine proved his credentials again only minutes latter, after a sustained spell of pressure Aguero's strike could only be parried away for a corner. Aquilani drifted the ball across to the far post, Crespo having freed himself from any marking drove the ball toward the bottom corner with a vicious header. Abbondanzieri did brilliantly to get a hand to the effort at all, but such was the power of the header that one hand was not enough to keep it out.
The team could perhaps be forgiven for getting carried away, however they were quickly brought back down to earth when Seattlewangsa's Lucarelli lashed a twenty-five yard strike inches over the bar. Had Lucarelli's strike been a little lower the game could have been more even, however it came as a wake up call and LSA started to dominate once more. The game was effectively killed off before half time when Aguero's sterling performance was rounded off with a startling strike from the edge of the area. With the Torineri piling on the pressure the half-time couldn't come fast enough for Capello's men.
The second half was a much quieter affair, with LSA Originale? seemingly taking their foot off the petal somewhat. Marcello Lippi seemed contented to rest some players, apparently convinced the game was won, and who could argue? Crespo made way for Tommaso Rocchi, while Aquilani was replaced by Cassano who pushed up slightly more. The whole pace of the game slowed and there were few chances for either side. Despite a slowing end to the game, Lippi has more than enough reason to be pleased considering the way in which his side put the opposition to the sword and effectively killed off the game early on.
LSA Originale: Curci; Dunne, Dainelli, Cassetti, M.Cech; Ambrosini, Aquilani (Cassano 69), Angulo, Palladino; S.Aguero, Crespo (Rocchi 62)

LSA Originale? vs mBv Arkestra
Matchday - 3
http://www.ilromanista.it/images/normale_aquilani96065.jpg
Preview:
LSA Originale? are already sitting pretty at the top of the table, after two wins from the first two games the Torineri are the only team to have collected all six points. This week they face their stiffest challenge yet, second-placed MBV Arkestra roll into Turin with high ambitions. With both teams vying for promotion the game should be a fierce competition, with a variety of top quality football on display.
For the first time this season Lippi has the good fortune of a fully fit squad to select from, this will see the return of Alessandro Del Piero to lead the team out. Reports coming out of the club suggest that there will be a return to the more attacking 4-3-3 system employed in the first game of the season. Despite his battling performance in the WCL againt Newton Heath, LSA diamond Alberto Aquilani is set to star in the heart of midfield again.
At an early morning press conference Lippi suggests that; 'we're really going to have to be at our best here today, it's an important match and we can't underestimate Arkestra. The game against Newton Heath was gruelling, and we were disappointed with the result, yet we shall pick ourselves up and carry on where we left off in the league.'
Match Report:
In a game that lived up to expectations, the pace was frantic right from the very start. The visitors offered an early warning as D'Alessandro curled a free kick only inches past Buffon's post, only minutes into the game. The next few minutes saw a fierce midfield battle with few clear cut chances for either team.
The Torineri took control of the game after about twenty minutes, retaining the majority of possession and creating a scattering of half chances. Hernan Crespo broke the defensive line receive an Aquilani through ball, yet his strike skipped up off ground at a very comfortable height for Kahn.
The pressure, did eventually pay off however when Pasqual whipped in a vicious cross toward the head of Crespo, who was beaten in the air by Olof Mellberg. Unfortunately the ball was collected by Alberto Aquilani, roughly twenty-five yards out, hitting a tremendous right foot strike. Kahn, who perhaps saw it late, never got close before it thumped into the bottom right corner.
With no further action, besides a rather low key penalty claim, the two teams headed in for the break. After half time, the pace was possibly faster than the start of the game, this was reflected in the scoreline as just over ten minutes later the score was 2-1. Pauleta had latched on to a fantastic through ball from D'Alessandro, with plenty of time Pauleta casually slotted the ball past the oustretched leg of Buffon who to his credit came close to tipping it past the post.
The goal was nullified moments later however when Kahn brought down Sergio Aguero, Del Piero efficiently dispatched the resulting penalty. Video replays however suggest than Kahn may have got a touch on the ball. LSA Originale? had to weather a stiff barage from mBv Arkestra, yet Dunne and Kaladze excelled, and Buffon was at his best to deny Pauleta a second. Aguero was replaced by Tomasso Rocchi and Alberto Aquilani by Sergio Almiron.
It was the Argentinian substitute who actually provided the ball for the third goal, floating a ball over Naldo. With the ball seeming to hang in the air, Ambrosini arrived late into the box unmarked to drive a header beyond the ageing Kahn. Having sealed the win with the third goal, LSA Originale? set about protecting the lead, with Ambrosini, Diarra and Almiron working hard to stem any creativity and Dainelli making an appearance in place of Crespo. mBv Arkestra had a chance late on, but Gudjohnsen's acrobatic volley cannoned off the bar, summing up their luck on the day.
LSA Originale?: Buffon; Dunne, Kaladze, Grygera, Pasqual; M.Diarra, Ambrosini, Aquilani (Almiron 67); S. Aguero (Rocchi 67), Del Piero, Crespo (Dainelli, 84).

Foca Juniors vs LSA Originale?
Matchday - 4
http://www.svenskafans.com/image/1/15270.jpg
Preview:
The latest reports floating around the Stadio Olimpico are that Azzurri hero Antonio Di Natale is to get his first start of the season for LSA. The pacey frontman managed to score an impressive brace for the national side this week against the Ukraine, keeping Italy's qualification bid on track. A fine header and a sublime second half strike were enough to see Italy finish 2-1 victors, and Di Natale awarded a man of the match award.
Despite being the fourth game, this will be the Torineri first test away from their Turinese fortress as they travel to Foca Juniors. Lippi has so far guided the team to three straight victories, and will be looking to make it a fourth this time on the road. Fresh from victories over promotion rivals mBv Arkestra and a cup win over New York Calcio, LSA go into the game in fine form and brimming with confidence.
Ian Holloway's Foca Juniors on the other hand are currently topping the bottom half of the table in sixth, having won, drawn and lost one of there three league games. Having had mixed fortunes thus far they would likely be happy to take anything from this game, and are therefore expected to set out in a manner designed to stall LSA's impressive attack.
The question is: 'Will it be enough to stop the Torineri?'
Match Report:
LSA Originale? held to a draw as Foca Juniors leave the bus at home an anchor a ferry in front of the goal instead. The game started at a slow pace with each team careful not to make the first mistake. It soon became apparent however that the vast majority of Foca Juniors players had an unconquerable fear, to the uneducated it would seem that the Torineri half was awash with the plague.
The it took until the fifthteenth minute for Foca to make an attack, it was however quickly nullified as the solitary figure of Rolando Bianchi was efficiently dispossessed. LSA Originale? continued to pile on the pressure however the legion of Foca defenders were manning the penalty area. Finally Aguero got in behind Drenthe only for his cross to be cleared by Mathijsen, Aquilani's right foot found the rebound only for his shot to sail over the bar, much to Abbiati's relief.
Holloway was clearly delighted when the referee brought the first half to a close, Foca Juniors having survived the barrage led by Del Piero. The second half began in similar fashion, with Foca attacks few and far between. This time however Lippi's men managed to find their way through the sea of bodies, Sergio Aguero finally picking up a ball on the edge of the area before driving low past Abbiatti's right.
With their keep breached Foca had little option to press on a little and look for an equaliser, however LSA were also attempting to kill of the game. This resulted in by far the most exciting period of the game, as Foca searched for a goal the gaps started to appear allowing Crespo in on goal but Aquilani's through ball was wasted by a poor side foot, easily collected by Abbiati.
it wasn't until late on, when horror struck for the LSA faithful, thier very own Rolando Bianchi got his head to a fantastic cross from Dutchman Royston Drenthe. Dunne, having stumbled, left Bianchi to ghost in for a free header that Buffon has little hope of getting to. With the score at 1-1, Foca resumed their defensive positions yet a loss of concentration allowed Hernan Crespo a glorious opportunity... his head sailed over the bar despite being unmarked and Christian Abbiati lying prone on the floor.
Lippi looked disgusted as LSA Originale? drop their first points of the season.
LSA Originale?: Buffon; Dunne, Kaladze, Cassetti, Pasqual; M.Diarra, Aquilani (Ambrosini 75), Del Piero; S. Aguero, Di Natale (Rocchi 86), Crespo.

LSA Originale? vs New York Calcio
Matchday - 5
http://www.lazionet.net/media/immagini/mag/giocatori/rocchi2.jpg
Preview:
LSA Originale? have dropped their first points in the season, next they have to play host to second placed New York Calcio. This will be a big test for Lippi's men, they have to show their character and get past the mistakes of last week. Yet they can't forget, learning from mistakes will be vital and strikers will have to take their chances.
Calcio's Tony Calzone will lead his men to the Olimpico on the back of three wins and only a single point behind their opponents. Lippi is expected to make a number of changes for this game, Raffaele Palladino returns and goal machine Tommaso Rocchi gets his first game of the campaign. Rocchi will lead the line, supported by the enigmatic Aguero and the aforementioned Palladino.
Lippi will hope his experienced backline will return to keeping clean sheets, especially with Gianluigi Buffon between the sticks. The Torineri faithful will, surely, only accept a victory here... but can LSA keep their 100% home record intact?
Match Report:
The game ended in a relatively comfortable 3-0 win as LSA Originale? returned to winning ways back at the Olimpico. NY Calcio fielded a simple 4-4-2 with Rafael Sobis leading the line, however the American outfit lacked any real incision. The game kicked off at a slow pace, both teams playing some rather scrappy football, with only glimpses of the true potential. With a tense atmosphere the first goal was important to settle whichever team managed to find it.
Despite very few chances besides, Palladino managed to break the offside trap getting in behind Kuffour before finishing very comfortably, with a side foot beyond Aouate. As expected the goal gave some life to the game, yet Tony Calzone would have been worried as the Torineri started to get into a rythym. Aquilani and Almiron both going close from distance, and Rocchi spurning a useful chance. NY Calcio looked quite relieved to hear the half time whistle, for some welcome relief.
It last only as long as the break as LSA continued exactly where they left off, Sergio Almiron taking only three and a half minutes to net LSA's second goal with a beautifully delicate free kick from the edge of the area. Lippi refused to allow his men to take their foot off the pedal and they continued to pound against the defence of NY Calcio. The pressure paid further dividends as Tommaso Rocchi capitalised on a defensive area, rifling his drive passed a dispondent keeper.
With Aguero, Palladino and Rocchi looking to impress there were further chances where New York's defence excelled to keep LSA Originale? from finding a fourth. Despite the missed chances late on, Marcello Lippi confirmed he delighted with the team's response to their draw with Foca Juniors and that he wanted a similar performance in the next game.

Transfer Window Frenzy

New Uruguayan signing, Ezequiel Lavezzi
The opening of the transfer window rarely sees a gentle opening day, as this mid-season was no different. Virtually every club had their representatives sifting through the dirt to unearth gems in the form of free agents. LSA Originale? head coach Marcello Lippi previously stated he had a number of targets in mind, it would seem he has got at least some of those. Lippi's men brought in a total of five players with in the first few hours of the window opening.
Torineri fans gave a fond farewell to big names this window with both Alessandro Del Piero and Hernan Crespo departing for pastures new. Del Piero has been exchanged for former Racing Club Combine Harvester star David Albelda, who will remain with the D1 side until the end of the season on loan. Hernan Crespo was accompanied for his trip my Massimo Ambrosini, who struggled to find playing time at LSA, to D3 side MBV Arkestra. LSA Originale? received two players in turn, tricky winger Andres D'Alessandro and Kevin Kuranyi, a striker with a phenomenal scoring record.
The departures didn't stop there, Vedran Corluka and Alexis Sanchez returned from loan seeing Antonio Cassano also heading back. Corluka's return seemingly signalled the end of Grygera's tenure at the club as he was sold to Midnight Runners for £5m. Alexis Sanchez will face stiff competition from LSA stalwarts Di Natale and Palladino, as well as some of the new faces. While many managers were chasing German starlet, Toni Kroos, LSA representatives were thrashing out deals for Uruguayan Luis Suarez and Uruguayan Ezequiel Lavezzi for £4.5m and £3.5m respectively.
Marcello Lippi is still to busy to speak to the press, however the club did release an official statement: "The club would like to announce the signings of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Andres D'Alessandro, Kevin Kuranyi, Luis Suarez and David Albelda. We are sorry to see friends such as Del Piero and Crespo depart and wish them all the best in future endeavours." Giovanni Cobolli Gigli did however have time to give awaiting journalists a few quick comments.
"We've said goodbye to some truly great players and they will be missed, however in the same vein we have brought in some terrific talent. A lot of which is youthful and will serve the club well for long into the future, we're ecstatic with the signings we've made. We're currently in negotiations with Antonio Nocerino and things seem to be going smoothly, it should only be a matter of time now"
"Gelson and I have discussed the matter of his lack of first team football, he asked for a move to a club where he can get more playing time. How can I deny a young lad that? That is exactly what he needs, unfortunately we can't give it to him, so we will be happy to hear any offers for him. We know he will do well and be of benefit to many clubs around us, he's a wonderful person and we wish him all the luck in the world!"
Turning to leave, Gigli was asked if there were any more targets. "Of course there is... we're aiming for me to get to my next meeting on time!" Smiling as he left, the LSA Chairman sped off. His answer gives no really indication as to whether the Torineri boss Marcello Lippi has set out further targets, though if history is anything to go by...

Balancing the books...

Neapolitan hardman, Anotnio Nocerino signs for LSA
LSA Originale? are keeping with tradition, refusing to let the opportunities afforded them in the transfer window pass them by. Since signings the five players previously reported, Marcello Lippi has hardly reeled himself in signing German international Per Mertesacker from FC Cali. Budding Italian international Antonio Nocerino has also been brought in on a free transfer likely replacing the aging Massimo Ambrosini.
Per Mertesacker's arrival has seen two -now former- LSA defenders depart Turin, with Marek Cech heading in the opposite direction and Richard Dunne making a big money move to Division 3 strugglers Planet Express. Through some deft dealings, LSA Originale? have succeeded in raising a fair amount of capital while simultaneously improving the squad. The club's transfer budget is now thought to be around the £20m mark, a healthy state for any club.
This has been funded by the aforementioned sale of Dunne, yet Zdenek Grygera also felt it time to leave the club with Midnight Riders paying £5m for his services. Corluka's return should provide ample cover for the loss of Grygera, however Marek Cech's departure has left a void on the left side of defence unless Pasqual is expected to play the entirey of the season!
Rumours suggest that Lippi has a number of potential replacements shortlisted, however some reports indicate a number of offers have been met with rejections. It is thought that the impressive young Cristian Molinaro is in pole position with scouts tracking his progress, however at the opposite end of the spectrum Italy legend Paolo Maldini has been linked with the club.

Acquafresca celebrates big time contract...
Italian striking starlet, Robert Acquafresca has been confirmed as the latest signing for Turinese club LSA Originale? The striker has put in some truly impressive performances for Italy at U21 level, and is widely considered a promising centre-forward to move up to the next level. There was some reported interest from other clubs, but the first firm offer came from LSA, which was quickly accepted by the youngster who is thought to want to stay in Italy.
Marcello Lippi commented, albeit briefly; "I'm truly glad we managed to secure Robert, he's a fantastic talent and from speaking with him I truly believe he has what it takes to make it at the highest level. He's an honest young lad who truly wants to learn, couple that with his pace, power, goal scoring ability and the staff and experienced players we have here... you have a recipe for success. Thank you."

LSA Originale? finally crowned...

A huge round of applause for Marcello Lippi
After an awe-inspiring undefeated league campaign LSA Originale? have finally officially won the Division 3 title after a fine display against rivals Dial Square FC. Having succesfully completed the double this season, the parties will be going on long into the night in Turin. MBV Arkestra will also be celebrating as they follow LSA into Division 2 next season after finishing second, an astonishing nine points behind the leaders. Both clubs are likely to have high hopes for next season, with some fans in Turin clamouring about successive promotions the team really have their work cut out.
LSA Originale? have come such a way in such a short time, it was only last season that they were languishing at the bottom of Division 3 with little hope of winning a game let alone the league. This turnaround has been creditted with the work of Marcello Lippi who had the following to say after the 3-2 win against Dial Square:
"The players are the ones who went out their each week and did what was required, to win both the league and cup is a tremendous achievement. I'm so proud of the players and all the backroom staff, the club as a whole deserves praise. These are the days you live for in football, after a gruelling season we've come out as clearly the best team in the Division with an unbeaten record, which is no mean feat considering the calibre of opposition. We've played against the likes of Dial Square and Arkestra and won, these are top sides and to beat them is fantastic."
Here at La Gazzetta, we're sure we can expect a busy transfer period and a big performance next season from Marcello and the boys, but we'll have to wait and see... for the mean time: Forza Torineri!
