Group 3
Portugal
Russia
Slovakia
Latvia
Estonia
Liechtenstein
Luxembourg
The mighty liechtensteiners have a great chance of going through. Think of the quality of football on display at the Liechtenstein - Luxembourg match. And Luis Figo, Rui Costa, Deco, Eusebio your boys are going to get one hell of a hammering ;)

I'd say the might Liechtenstein have a chance of beating Luxembourg and maybe even Estonia if they are lucky. Not an easy group.

we got a 1-1 home draw against Macedonia so taking points of any of the teams except Portugal and Russia is a possibility

Indeed 'tis possible. Best of luck to your team. It would be great if they can finish second and sneak in through a play-off but it's not really likely to happen.

I think realistically their aim will to be to get 6 points off Luxembourg. In a friendly in luxembourg city this year liechtenstein were 3-0 up but it finished 3-3. but liechtenstein have a better chance of going through than my other team, Scotland.

Sorry to bring back an ancient thread, but I think it's the right time to bring back this one!
My prediction of Liechtenstein taking 6 points from Luxembourg came true (4-0 and 3-0). But the mighty Liechtenstein also gained points from the top two teams (2-2 vs Portugal! and 0-0 vs Slovakia).
So well done to Liechtenstein for having their most sucessful qualifying campaign ever (In 2002 qualifying they lost all their games, and didn't even score 1 goal in the process)

Yeah, they did well. Things can only get better for Liechtenstein football.
Well things can hardly get worse for the poor bastards.

Malta came last, but we had no Luxembourg's in our group ;)

Yeah, but we didn't lose 7-0 or 6-0 to any teams!

Ha ha, sorry mate, I didn't mean to be nasty! Sweden are a very good team, and you picked up very good results against Croatia and Bulgaria, and you only finished 1 point behind Iceland.

 No offense taken dude. Just being sarcastic.
Well I'm quite proud of how Malta played in the last few matches. They could even have won some of them. Maltese football is finally growing and that's enough for now. The results will continue coming. I wished we won against Bulgaria just so that Horst Heese, the national coach, will have the farewell he deserves.

Yeah, good luck to him, he was one of the longest serving international managers around. Have Malta appointed a sucessor to him yet?

Till now I don't have an idea but I think Carmel Busuttil would be a favourite. Not sure though.

Interesting to note that Liechtenstein are 123 in the FIFA Rankings, Malta are 127, I guess considering the size of both countries, these are respectable positions.

High expectations.
Liechtenstein and Maltese football will improve in the years to come..

High expectations.
It's not really no. Its just that we always fail to score in those instances of the match when luck is on your side. ;)
