Socrates chests up the cross using R1, and then hammers in a 17m overhead kick. Goal scored on Top Player - Classic Brazil vs Classic Germany:

Nice, who needs Ronaldinho, when you have Socrates
Thanks. :)
I've scored seven overheads in WE 2007, but the other six have all been hit down into the ground. So I was really happy with the Socrates one, especially since I've done other overheads with him that have gone 10 yards wide.... 10 yards wide of the corner flag!

The best goal entered so far....although I am still in the process of entering mine ;)
Seriously though, fantastic goal. Well done.

V Nice Finish there mate, my only thought is that the defence didnt close down the man that crossed the ball in, or so-crates while the ball was in the air? from past experience classic germany on top player are sooo quick defensively.
still a quality goal tho

Wow, excellent goal mate, a stunning finish. :w00t
Second best goal i've seen in this GOTM so far, only behind that Danny Murphy one for me.
This one came really close though IMO, but it's going to take something extremely special to knock the Murphy one off, especially for all the factors it involves (Lesser player, no stat edits, quick thinking as he was closed down fast, timing + power had to be totally perfect & the drive shot volley with swerve which is the holy grail of volleys on PES).
I'm surprised the defence didn't hastle the guy crossing the ball, then didn't close Socrates down after chesting the ball up.
Every time i perform this move, especially against classic Germany the bastards are all over me like a cheap suit. :(
So the top 6 IMO are:
Danny Murphy
Socrates Overhead Kick

Carr Cracker
Seedorf
Ronaldinho Rabona
Kewell
Looking forward to more great goals.

I just watched it, and albeit being a great goal, it wasn't more impressive than this one. Besides, how exactly can you be certain that Murphy wasn't edited?
I think you're hyping that goal too much. The difficulty with those volleys, is not connecting with the ball, but actually hitting the net, and for that you need loads of luck.

I dont think i'm over-hyping the Murphy volley, just feel from my playing experences its a harder shot to master and get perfect.
For the sheer spectacular, the overhead looks the best theres no question about that.
Both the Murphy goal and Socrates goal involved about the same amount of luck and equal amounts of skill.
Just depends on what the judges are looking for, be it the sheer out and out beauty of a perfectly executed overhead kick or a weaker player getting closed down and managing to get the shot off perfectly factor into consideration.
I do like reading your comments on things though muad, you're civil, smart and know a bit about football so its always nice to hear your views.
That and i remember you scoring some nice goals in PES5 in these galleries.
So far i'd say the GOTM is definitely between these two and whichever one wins it i don't think people could complain, unless someone enters something so sublime before this month ends that it'll cause my eyes to expode upon seeing it.
I'm getting an image of a perfect one touch movement consiting of a pass from Xavi to Deco then without controlling it a longish pass to Ronaldinho over the defensive line who then produces a first time, finessed volleyed lob over the onrushing keeper from the edge of the box and just under the far angle then to be swamped by naked cheerleaders in pigtails carrying pom poms.
Really interesting comments and questions about my goal....
The defence couldn't close down Zico because I took the ball towards the goal line then passed it back out to him, and then he dribbled back towards his own goal.
On the chest-up, I think one defender (#5) is genuinely fooled by the angle, direction and speed of the chest-up. The other defender didn't play it very well at all, but if he had I might not have scored the goal so I'm glad he didn't. :)

Was an awesome goal mate.
About the closing down, hope you didn't think i was slating or putting the goal down in any way, just wish i had the ability to shake players off me like that in the game. :(
Real football however that was my bread and butter, losing defenders then putting it home.
Pity i can't transfer it to the virtual world.

If only replays were longer.
One of the problems with scoring a good goal, is that you always have the time constraint on your mind.
The only goals that i think will look good and will sway people's votes, are going to be volleys like Murphy's, overhead kicks, or particularly good long range shots. A good long range lob would do it, but those are extremely difficult, specially with good keepers.
I've been trying to volley it after flicking it over a defender, but those are even harder. Every defender in top difficulty is amazing and intercepts and anticipates everything.

Replays do really need to be a good deal longer, sometimes the best goals you score end with the easiest of finishes but involve some beautiful build-up play or a flash of brilliance giving you the space to run on and take your shot that gets left out.

There's different degrees of connection though. Any connection on a volley is easy, but a drive-shot is hard to pull off consistantly. Add to that the positioning needed (see Murphy move away with R2 while ball is in air) for a side-on volley, and you've got a difficult goal.
Like you say though, once the ball is struck it's all about luck, but what goal in PES doesn't involve luck? :)
Great goal aswell Feanor. :D
I've uploaded this goal to another site that you can check out if the video in the first post doesn't work for you:

If someone not entering a better one than yours, I think you gonna win this competition.

There you go. :) The description is short for "Circle Pass Cross; R1 Chest, 17m overhead!"

It was also a glorious late equalizer. :)

Have you seen mesicek7's overhead with Sheva after controlling it with his head?
And I won the game 4-3 in the 90th on a 30m volley by Cerezo. :) It's in the compilation I linked to in the first post, but here's the link again:

There are better goals in that compilation, specially the last one.
This one you submitted doesn't look as impressive because the defenders aren't marking Socrates properly.
That happens when you do such a good chest-up. :) But seriously, I like my overhead the best because of what I did - I can't control what the computer defenders do or don't do.

No one can contest the fact that it took skill to pull that off.
The ball was perfectly controlled and the player masterfully positioned, regardless of anything else.
I don't doubt for a moment that it was a legitimate goal, but lament the fact that the defenders made it look easy, which it wasn't.
Yeah, I know just what you mean. But since I've had tons of overhead attempts blocked by computer defenders appearing out of nowhere or jumping thru me (literally) to get in the way, I can't get too upset if they screw up and leave me open sometimes. :)

Too true.
