MLS 2007: Structure of the 13 Team Schedule
The addition of Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference has forced a change in the MLS schedule in 2007. Each of the 13 clubs will play every other team twice (home and away) for a total of 24 games.
The remaining six games will be played against teams from the same conference (three home and three away).
In the seven-team Eastern Conference each team will play the other six teams one additional time.
In the six-team Western Conference, each team will play the other five teams an additional time, leaving one extra intra-conference game to be played. This fixture will be determined by rivalries, meaning the Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA will play each other four times, as will Real Salt Lake and the Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo.

Some absolute screamers there. Personally I don't generally have access to MLS games and have only seen a handful here and there, but I have read a number of articles from world football sources explaining the on field and off field attributes.
From what I can see it a a very technical game, based around keeping possession and progressivly creating attacks with good team play.
This is a very admirable way to go about developing the game and a similar system is employed in the emerging leagues in Asia and the Middle East.
Most people I talk to have no knowledge of these leagues and make silly assumptions about the quality of the game formulated by their ignorance and refusal to see beyond the Prem.
I genually hope that the MSL takes off this time and there are many more well known players arriving to increase the profile of the league not only in Europe but more importantly in the US.
Maybe one of you guys can explain to me why teenagers stop playing "soccer" when they reach 15 /16. I heard that one of the problems is that unlike everywhere else in the world soccer is seen as a more middle class game and so the potential proffesionals are incouraged by demanding parents to get good grades at school, go to college and pursue a "proper" career, rather than take the gamble of becoming a "soccer" star and earn close to the minimum wage.

Well in america people think soccer is a womens sport beacuse of the low level of contact and say its straight up boring. Funny because baseball is worse in terms of boring. But I think it will slowly change because of the amount of south americans entering the country, My parents are the same about grades and what my carrer choice is because they are the keys to succsess. Soccer in america is considered a third world sport.

One of the reasons I see is that it's still not really taken seriously by many teens. you can't play Baseball/Football/etc. for your school until your about 13/14 years old, so most parents will sign their children up to play soccer for something to do until they're able to play a more popular sport. Many teens regard it as a child's sport because of this.
Another problem is the level of youth coaching. As I said earlier, there is no school team to play for when you're 8 so if you play in an independent league then your coach is most likely going to be a team mate's parent who's volunteering to coach and doesn't really know anything about the sport. Most standard youth games are simply kick the ball and chase, no real tactical or technical training. So many kids never really experience the game how it's supposed to be played. They stop playing assuming that it's a bunch of peope with no talent chasing after the ball for 90 minutes. The assumption that soccer doesn't really take talent to play is still very prevalent. You can go to a higher level of play and get some real qualified coaches, but that costs several hundred dollars.
And then the fact that not many children grow up wanting to be a "soccer star." Soccer players aren't idolised the same way American football players are. This is mostly due to most people of parenting age in America right now don't see soccer as a serious sport and so there children don't grow up watching it, as more people who are interested in the game become parents it's likely that their children will become interested.

Exactly, that's the point. Think Tiger Woods, think Venus / Serena Williams, think most American Football / Basket / Baseball stars. You can see where i'm going with this, but basically mostly from very poor, urban backgrounds. Most of the best footballers from South America or Europe or Africa are from very poor backgounds where playing football is all they do all day long, they are never expected to acheive much else by their parents. There are of course the odd exception to the rule but as a general principle it shouldn't (in theory) be too hard to translate this policy that has worked so well for the other mainstream American sports into "soccer".

Sadly this is very much the same in England actually. I have ranted on about this a number of times and I'm getting rather bored of it, but basically I help out coaching the youngsters at our local club and I see the standard from around 8 to 14 and this is supposedly the magic age group where children learn skills that will form the "natural" basis of their game when they are older.
At my club I hear moronic dads and or coachs(who have no formal training and have an ancient view of how the game should be played i.e how it was played in their day) shouting idiotic things to the kids that will retard their progress and create negative tendancies in their play which they will never lose. Anyway thats our problem not yours!

Ironic really since technically USA is a third world country
No, Usa is not a third world country

Honestly though I don't know what to expect from the Galaxy this season. I've been watching too much European footy and haven't been following the build-up to the MLS season. Once it gets started though I'll get more into it.

hosnestly the mls is crap, americans orginize this league in a way that will look like a typical american sport. e.g. no relegation, its divided in west and east teams like the nba. the jerseys dysplay the name of the team like the nba teams also and not a sponsor like the rest of the world. this makes me think that while they think it will get typical americans to get more intersted in the sport, its actually makin true football(soccer) fans not really pay attention to the mls.
i would like the mls to start being more like the european and south american leaugues, and a way to start putting sponsors on the front of the shirts replacing the team names, it makes me feel like im watching a baseball game.

I agree that the mls needs to change but not dumb things like names on jerseys and crap, It needs to start with the USA national team and more expansion clubs. The MLS also needs to change its scheduling to the european schedule, Why do they have there season during the summer, when european teams are off? Real dumb. But slowly it is growing and the Mls are doing something right at the moment. ie.Beckham, Toronto FC, Arsenal and Chelsea's involment, Liverpool's involment with USA's youth teams.

Ok lets add some meat to the bone shall we? You tell us why the NFL isn't crap without mentioning the attendences or how well it is supported or participated in. Millions of people read the bible and believe in superhuman beings that can read our thoughts and control our destinys but that's utter shite isn't it. Millions of Japanese people play a game called Pachinko which has no skill or reward but is the 7th biggest contributer to their GDP.
So I'd very much like it if you'd explain why the game of American Rugby (I know they are different sports) isn't completely wank. The players wear fucking pads and helmets for fucks sake, I thought it was suppose to be all macho like?
I don't know all the rules of rugby and it doesn't flow as much as football from what I can see, but American Rugby just seams to be a series of 'set plays' if you like (instructed directly by the coach) there doesn't actually appear to be any 'open play'. The roles of the participants is very specialised 'blockers' just block, 'recievers' just catch, 'throwers' just throw etc (this obviously reduces versatility, freedom, creativity) as you may have noticed I know very little about the game so please tell me there is more to it than that.
The MLS also needs to change its scheduling to the european schedule, Why do they have there season during the summer, when european teams are off?
There are a larger number of Central and South American players in the MLS so this probably suits them anyways.

Are you en serio?
Is that why the MLS isn;t as popular as other leagues? Because of having team names on the jerseys instead of AIG, Carlsberg etc?
Fuck forming more teams, building more soccer-specific stadiums etc., lets give Thomas Cook a call and get this league looking sharp.
EDIT: Also, I think it's kinda smart to have the league in the summer here, at least for now. Football and basketball seasons are over so the MLS has less to compete with TV wise.

Well I suppose I'll be following this season. I'm going to hop on and snag tix for the "World Series" match between Chelsea and Galaxy in LA since I'll be out in CA then. Also hoping that San Jose gets their team back since I'll be living in SF. I figure if I have a close team to root for where I can actually attend games I may follow it more.
Also hoping that the rest of the teams follow Colorado and LA's lead and get shirt sponsors. I do agree that MLS is pushing the American sports envelope by not following Europes lead on the sponsor detail.

You couldn't do relagation in the USA, the infastructure isn't strong enough with the league only being around for 11 years. If a team got relegated it would surely go into financial disrepair and when a team got promoted it would surely just go right back down. There would be no point.
They geographical size of the US also makes it a good idea to break the league into two divisions to save money on travel costs throughout the season.
Finally, teams put sponsors on their jerseys to make ends meet, if you are that secure financially that you don't need a sponsor then more power to you. It hardly effects the product on the pitch.

First of all, each game plays out like soap opera, there are story lines and great players to follow. The amount of vision neccesary to compete is really hard to explain. You need to know when to block, where to block, when to hit the hole, when to throw, when to run...its actually a very complicated sport.
I can see how one who wasn't raised on the sport wouldn't like it, I personally had no choice, my father is addicted to the New England Patriots and he has, in turn, handed that on to me. It is the closest thing that Americans come close to tribalism. European soccer has tribalism and that is one of its greatest assets. Its just a culture thing. America is so unique with its make up of citizens and how it came to be that it is only fitting that we have a unique sport to fit our tastes. I would never sit here and tell you to go watch it and you're retarded if you don't but I know that as an American there is just something about that sport that intrigues me and keeps me coming back.

Well I believe it makes it look better. Sets the league apart from our other sports. I mean obviously LA is in great financially and they just signed a deal. I think plastering the nicknames (and even having nicknames for that matter) just bunches the sport in with MLB and the NFL.
Bill Simmons actually had a very good article on ESPN.com about the EPL last summer. Like how he writes about how American and European sports fans are different. Here's the first part of it....
Picking an English Premier League team is like picking a new car: If you don't throw yourself into it and assimilate as much information as possible, you could end up getting stuck with a lemon. That's why I spent the past seven days sifting through more than 4,000 reader suggestions, downloading YouTube clips, surfing goofy European sites, checking out every team's sponsors and jerseys, Googling every team's name along with the phrase "celebrity fans," TiVo-ing old EPL games on DirecTV's Channel 613, reading up on team histories and everything else.
And you know what? Much like buying a car, the whole process was more enjoyable than I thought it would be (as evidenced by the fact that this column is in two parts and more than 6,000 words). Honestly, I haven't liked soccer since the New England Tea Men were thriving back in the mid-'70s, and I'm making the leap based on the fact that it's serviceable TV fodder in the mornings when I'm answering e-mails and reading various Web sites. But soccer does have the one thing that drew me to sports in the first place: Great crowds. There's nothing like following a sport with fans who know how to make a big game feel even bigger.
You know how Red makes the comment that, after a life spent in Shawshank, he can't even squeeze a drop of pee without asking for permission first? I feel like that's happening to us. American sports have been ravaged by TV timeouts, ticket price hikes and Jumbotrons that pretty much order fans how to act. Just look at what happened in the NBA playoffs. Miami fans were urged to wear all white like a bunch of outpatients from a psych ward; the Detroit announcer screamed, "Let's give it up!" and "Lemme HEAR YOU!" as the crowd responded like a bunch of trained seals; Clippers fans weren't able to stand and cheer after an outrageous Shaun Livingston dunk in the Denver series because disco music was blaring at deafening levels. And it's not just basketball. During Angels games in baseball, the crowd waits to make noise until a monkey appears on the scoreboard. You can't attend an NHL game without hearing the opening to "Welcome to the Jungle" 90 times. Even our NFL games have slipped -- you cheer when the players run out, cheer on third downs, cheer on scores and sit the rest of the time. It's a crying shame.
Not to pull a Madonna on you, but European soccer stands out because of the superhuman energy of its fans -- the chants and songs, the nonstop cheering, the utter jubilation whenever anything good happens, how the games seem to double as life-or-death experiences -- and I can't help but wonder if that same trait has been sucked out of our own sports for reasons beyond our control. And no, that same energy hasn't completely disappeared; you can see a similar energy on display at Fenway, Yankee Stadium, Lambeau, MSG (if the Knicks and/or Rangers are good, a big "if" these days) and any other city with enough history and passion to override the evils of the Jumbotron Era. Still, these are aberrations. By pricing out most of the common fans and overwhelming the ones who remained, professional sports leagues in this country made a conscious decision: We'd rather hear artificially created noise than genuine noise. That's the biggest problem with sports in America right now. And there's no real way to solve it.
One more note on this: I watch old Celtics games from time to time and always think how the Bird Era could never be recreated -- not the team itself, but its connection with the Boston Garden and the passion of the fans attending those games. We didn't need a Jumbotron or musical prompts to tell us what to do. When the Celts were introduced, we screamed for every starter and saved one extra decibel level for Bird. When we needed a defensive stop, we stood and shouted at the top of our lungs. When Bird found a wide-open cutter for one of his gorgeous no-looks, we were cheering even as the pass was being delivered -- that's how attuned we were to his passing skills and how they spilled over to everyone else on the team. The best moments happened when the C's would blow someone off the floor and force a timeout, and the roof would practically come off, and we'd keep cheering and cheering -- all the way through the timeout, no organ music, no other noise, nothing. That's how we judged the level of excellence, by how long everyone felt obligated to cheer. If we made it all the way through the timeout, the horn would sound, which only made us cheer louder because we had lasted so long. I'm telling you, there was nothing quite like it. And this happened all the time.
The World Cup fans reminded me of those days. I wanted to find out more. And as I delved into the English Premier League -- starting from scratch, really -- three things struck me over everything else. First, English soccer goes way back to the 19th century (The Football League was founded in 1888). Second, picking a team really IS like picking a car -- every team offers something unique (good and bad). And third, the passionate arguments from hundreds upon hundreds of readers (we're talking about e-mails in the range of 1,000-1,500 words) convinced me even more that I was doing the right thing. I'm going to find a team and follow them for a year. Maybe two. Maybe 10. Maybe for the rest of my life. Who knows? Consider me curious. And if it doesn't work out, no hard feelings.
Rest of it....http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060719
Actually a really funny article.
But I do agree with him. American sports have been dumbed down for the fan. We just don't have the passion that they do over there and I hope somehow we can get that from MLS.

There are a larger number of Central and South American players in the MLS so this probably suits them anyways.
Do not get me started there are many things involved in the NFL that makes is a great sport. There are so many tactics to much to type, Its a hell of a lot more tactical then soccer and rugby, and as for the pads the players wear, the helmet is so hard it will break your bones if hit hard enough. It hurts a lot more getting hit with the pads then getting hit without them, i know from experience. As foe the coach calling plays for the team on offense, there is plenty of freedom, the coach gives calls for players to make routes, also the QB can make audibles at the line if he dosent like the play. All this and what Preki said.
This is still the MLS thread right?

I don't understand this, if you guys don't like the MLS nor the Americans, why do you post here?
-Rafa-, you shouldn't even post in here because you are from a country that is pure crap in football/soccer! As a matter of fact, the only sport that Australia are good at is rugby and perhaps cricket (fantastic sport!)....
All of you might not like american football, but that's just "their sport", and you don't see them talking trash about cricket or any british sport, so you should respect their choices!
That's why I admire them, they care about their country and about their culture, but at the same time, they respect others and that...that's cool!

And we don't need to rely on little fanny's like Ronaldo and Deco to fall over in the box when there is no-one near them.

Erm...thanks for the Iberian input
I neither dislike the Americans or their crappy sports. If you bothered to read my initial post regaring the MLS you'll see that I'm both interested and supportive or their fledgling 'soccer' league. I do genuinely care that the league recieves more support over there and that it is not so easily dismissed by my fellow compatriates in their usual ignorant manner.
The only reason NFL came into topic was as an opponent to 'soccer' in the US, which leads me nicely to my line of enquiry because I have very little knowledge of that sport as is clear by my post, but I believed it to be important to provoke a strong reaction to fast track understanding the core issues involved.
I am glad the likes of Preki (BTW Preki just ignore that little fool the term 'soccer' was coined on these shores) had a stab at explaining the fundamental attraction of NFL and I hope we can all feel richer for the experience we should want to grow afterall.
So no I don't think this little meandering "off topic" was unnecessary at all. Now off you pop there's a good lad.
I would never sit here and tell you to go watch it and you're retarded if you don't but I know that as an American there is just something about that sport that intrigues me and keeps me coming back.

Maybe you shouldn't waste your time with this cretin.
First of all, each game plays out like soap opera, there are story lines and great players to follow.
I couldn't care less about this aspect of modern sport. I don't care about what players say to each other, what mangers say or anything that happens off the pitch for that matter.
The amount of vision neccesary to compete is really hard to explain. You need to know when to block, where to block, when to hit the hole, when to throw, when to run...its actually a very complicated sport.
I'm still not clear on the 'open play' aspect, you understand what I mean don't you? I just don't see that the game is allowed to flow as it were. I don't doubt that the game is complicated that's the beauty of football I suppose, 17 rules (all open to the referee's interpretation of something called fair play) I believe.

Football and basketball seasons are over so the MLS has less to compete with TV wise.
didnt u read the rest of what i wrote?? i also mentioned relegation and dividing the teams in west and east. i think having team names in their jerseys is ridiculous, stupid!!! lol only in america.
you really think having the season in the summer is smart?? i think its retarded, theres always competition just when amer. football season is at its end basketball season comes and when its over baseball season comes. baseball games are played every fukkin single day and football(american) are mostly played on sundays, so imo mls games could be played on saturdays maybe one or two games on sunday winter, pretty smart.
- someone said that there is no relegation because the league has only been for 11 yrs. well then when are there gonn be relegation?? in 5 yeears 15, 20 , 40 years????

You couldn't do relagation in the USA, the infastructure isn't strong enough with the league only being around for 11 years. If a team got relegated it would surely go into financial disrepair and when a team got promoted it would surely just go right back down. There would be no point.
They geographical size of the US also makes it a good idea to break the league into two divisions to save money on travel costs throughout the season.
Finally, teams put sponsors on their jerseys to make ends meet, if you are that secure financially that you don't need a sponsor then more power to you. It hardly effects the product on the pitch.

I would never sit here and tell you to go watch it and you're retarded if you don't but I know that as an American there is just something about that sport that intrigues me and keeps me coming back.
yeah preki that is exactly why noone takes the mls seriously. why dont you just keep watching your team play the NY red bulls 5 times in the season and DC another 5 times.
i have come to a conclusion about american football, and is that you dont have to have a brain to play it just go out to the field and knock someone that has the ball

(The away goals rule doesn't apply in this tourney otherwise Houston is through. ) Pachuca controlled the first half of et. and scored a cracking goal to win. I just don't think names or sponsors on jerseys is a really big concern for this league right now is all.
Also, NFL starts around September, NBA starts around October/November, and baseball games only sell out during the play-offs. The MLS goes from April to November, less competition. And I only said for now. Hopefully this game will become more popular over the years, especially with older fans, and who knows, maybe the schedule will change to match European leagues. Remember this league is still young.
And I think Preki-USA's reason for not having relegation is sound.
I have to admit though I would like to see all the teams in one table rather than an east/west thing with play-offs. Certain games become meaningless towards the end of the season because teams know they'll make it to the play-offs with a few games in hand.

First of all, America is not a 3rd world country, if we were then thousands upon thousands would not come here seeking the American dream, I have never heared of millions flocking to England seeking the English dream. Second the MLS eventually will have sponsers on the front of their jerseys. We do not need that as of yet for the simple fact that we are basically trying to take Hockeys place as a primary sport in America. Hockey is extreamly over-priced and judging from the statistics from the last couple of years the MLS is surpassing Hockey, But to take its place the teams need an American feel at first, that is why they should keep the names on the front of jerseys and not sponsers as of yet. Third the whole soccer discussion about the name and such, In italian calcio means soccer, so basically you are telling me that Italians have it wrong also? End of discussion about that soccer/football, is about the same as saying color or colour. Its the same sport and any fan of football/soccer should be happy that America has a league that is actually doing good. That means more compatition for the world which is good for the sport as a whole.
Ny Red Bulls, what happened to our teams this weekend? I was at the game although it was colder that a coal diggers ass it was a decent game, the pitch looked alright, it was obviously icy from all the players slipping. I think NY is one of the teams to beat this year. Reyna looked awesome. I was just glad to see Columbus actually do something besides let goals in. Did you see our keeper wander to mid field? goal is gol in spanish but in french is but, see so your comment is stupid

As far as Zidane I doubt very much he comes to the USA, but if he does I guess it would be some hype to it but not as much as Beckham. I just hope they make him wear head gear.

I hope, for the good of the league, that Chicago doesn't end up signing Blanco. I don't know what the status of that deal is, but it would really be a horrible signing. I hate that guy, as do most people.
Also, in regards to the topic of relegation in MLS or other leagues: it would never exist if it hadn't been put into place long ago. There's simply too much money to be lost by any team that goes down. Sure, if your league was established before multi-million dollar television deals and such, you might see why the lower three teams should go down a division. If there was no historical precedent for it, the premier leagues of europe would change it in a heartbeat.
Conversely, Salary caps would probably never be established in the top leagues of Europe. Salary caps were implemented to address modern sporting concerns and to establish them after the fact would be nigh on impossible. With everyone spending whatever they can to get the winning team that year, foreign takeovers and the like, there's just too much money to stop it flowing. Also, if one country decided to do it, players would end up looking elsewhere for higher wages.
Now don't get it twisted, I love watching the relegation battles at the end of the season in the Premiership. I think it's incredibly exciting and gives the lower table teams something to play for. However, I have a realistic perspective on how sport and the conducting of a sport league has changed.

/SIGH Well at least we scored, and were able to come back, but I have to say a brilliant first half was tarnished by a cheap shot by Herron. As a Crew fan, but more importantly a fan of football. I hope he get suspended for a while. All I have to say, is the Crew need to play the 4-3-3 from now on with Schelotto, Kei Kamara, and Ngwenya up front in that order or switch Schelotto and Ngwenya

MLS is fucking shite. The league is fake, the clubs are fake (keep changing their names every second season), the system is fake.
Add to that the gay 'basketball' style names of the teams. America always has to have LA 'galaxy' or the New York 'Wizards' or some nonsense like that.
Never will be real football, will always be shite imitation. Thankfully I have never had to watch any of this bullcrap and never will.

Just look slightly to the left and you will see.
Maybe you would get a 'little' more respect if you used the correct terms and rules of the game. Its called football, not fucking soccer whatever cunt came up with that name.
The names, I talk about, as your name says NY Red Bulls, its not a club, thats just a fucking company trying to promote itself, in a year or two when they pull the plug on it the name will change again. Not to add that whole thing goes against what football is, clubs/tradition, not a fucking business/company.
Obviously you can;t buy the history and tradition, but your heading in poor direction and not even trying to start well. It'll never be proper football in USA.
The Company Red Bull brings in the money
The money brings in the players
The player brings in tradition
I think its going in the right direction, as for the word "soccer" we are not the only country to use the term. It makes no difference anyway, the sport is on the rise in the US and it scares the "shite" out of you.

we did pay a lot for beckham because of hes face not his talent, but that brings the fans in. Believe it or not soccer is more of a womens sport here and its hard to make soccer fans here with all the other sports to choose from. All the tradition is with baseball and Ame. football, etc Also Soccer will increase here because of the spanish influence, jus saying. Will see in years to come who is right or wrong with the growth of the sport in the US.

There's no doubting U.S football is on the rise and with the increase of interest in "soccer" in the States, the population and facilities will come to good use I'm sure until sooner or later, in the next 20 years I'm guessing, the M.L.S and National team could well be up there with the big gun's.

Football did originate in Scotland, though I believe the rules were made in England so they claim to it.
If you look at my history of posts/threads I have a fair amount of rants/arguements.
All I say is I don't like the 'commercialism' of it, and don't ever see it becoming anywhere near a major league in football. The attraction in USA will always be bigger for American Football and Basketball, and baseball.
--------------------------------
In response to the guy talking about the World cup, yes considering USA is how many times bigger and more population that Scotland????
Also consider the shit teams you need to beat to get there like costa rica and the like.
We have to beat the likes of Italy, France etc. the two world cup finalists.
Not in our previous World Cup qualifing group there we had iTaly in it, the winners. Recently you may have heard of us beating France, finalists. So please shut the fuck up, you clearly dont have a clue.

I just hope he continues what Arena started, but in 4 years I hope the thing that they do differant is play more attack minded instead of defensive. That really killed us in the WC

American dream for Shevchenko
Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko says he would like to become part of the growing football revolution in America at some stage of his career.
Shevchenko, who joined the Premiership club for Ģ30million last summer, has failed to reproduce the kind of form which prompted Chelsea to pay AC Milan a record fee.
But the 30-year-old, who missed Chelsea's FA Cup final victory over Manchester United on Saturday because of a groin injury, admits to having an ambition to play in the US.
Real Madrid's David Beckham is about to cross the Atlantic to join Los Angeles Galaxy and Shevchenko said: "I'd like to play there, actually.
"Soccer is growing in the U.S. and I'd like to be a part of that. I played there last summer against the MLS All-Stars and I saw myself that it's definitely improving."
Shevchenko maintains that playing out of position for Chelsea did not help his cause during a difficult opening season at Stamford Bridge but he insists he was happy to make the sacrifice for the benefit of the team.
"It wasn't a great season but it hasn't been the worst," Shevchenko told SI.com.
"People always expect a lot from me. I wasn't well in the first four months, partly because of fatigue from the World Cup and partly because of the injury I was carrying. But then I had a good stretch in the middle of the season.
"In the end, despite everything, I ended up with 14 goals and 11 or 12 assists, and that's not a bad season.
"I know people wanted 30 goals a season, but the reality is that it can't happen every season. With all the problems I had, I don't think I did that badly.
"I didn't play in my position this year. I wasn't the key of the attack. I was playing further behind, away from goal, which is different from how I played at Milan and maybe that's why Didier Drogba scored so many goals this year.
"We made a good partnership with me setting him up some of the time. At Milan I played in my natural role. Here I had to adapt to be something else and I did it so I could help the team. The main priority for me is feeling well next season."

LA Galaxy lost to Rangers tonight, 0-1. :(
The first half was very dull but the game picked up in the second half. I was surprised that Rangers brought pretty much their first team.
There was a small section where a group of Galaxy fans were singing the whole night, but then when Rangers scored they became silent and this one Scottish guy sitting next to me stood up and started yelling, "You're not singin anymore!! You're not singin anymore!!" It was great. I really hope this sport becomes more popular here.

Yeah I am, but the supporters section is behind one of the corner flags and f that, I wanted to sit level with the half line.
The great thing about the Home Depot center is that even if you sit at the top terrace area, its still a great view because its only a 27,000 seater, cozy. Also, the fans on the terrace area start to slam their feet on the floor part and it gets loud.

Also, they've got this supporters section now near one of the corner flags (you'd think the whole stadium would be a supporters section, but we're not there yet!) and those guys sing literally the whole game, its great. I think the rest of the fans either can't understand or just don't care what that section is singing so all the chanting is basically from that section as opposed to the whole stadium.
Otherwise yeah, the atmosphere is pretty friendly, I mean you won't find any burning effigies of club owners that's for sure.

Yo Preki how was the game on Saturday, they didn't show the Bolivia/Ireland or the New England game here. And how is the turnout to games in New England on average? Just asking as I'm curious about that kind of stuff. I was impressed by Toronto because they seem to be selling out their games while in their first season.
We get like 14-18 K, usually closer to 14 tho. The atmosphere in Gillette can be awful because it is so big for that many people, but if you sit in the fort (our supporter's section) you hardly notice.
As for the Ireland v. Bolivia match, I didn't watch it because I didn't see the point in ending my drinking and grilling early to watch Ireland's C side and shitty Bolivia.
The Revs match was good tho, 7 goals in a 4-3 loss, too bad we couldn't stop eddie johnson :(
The empty stadiums are all either photographed pregame when there was no match occurring or it is a computer generated image. Don't be a fucking retard.
Why the fuck did you give me bad rep man?
You can't take a joke can you ?

don't be a baby, rep doesn't matter a lick, you should know better.
Then why did you bother to bad rep me then?
It was a joke and you knew it, so who's being the baby?

James Fast, an 11-year-old attending the game with his family, wore a No. 23 Beckham jersey and rattled off what he knew about the Galaxy's $32 million man.
"I know he was with Manchester United, then Real Madrid," said James, a soccer player himself. "He's amazing. He's going to be better than Landon Donovan."
