Hi, I'm a newbie, so really need some kind soul to help me out here..

After playing a few online games, I realise my opponents can easily follow me very tightly no matter how much I dribble, turning left and right, they seems to be able to keep a very close distance on me...and sometimes they can easily push me off.

At times, they even able to push me (while I am running with the ball) to the touchline and causing me to run the ball out of play!

Am I missing something here or there is some secret moves that I dunno of? the only button I know abt defense is the X pressure button or O tackle button or double team but it seems to work not as well as what my opponent does.

Any idea anyone???

what i like to do is use :square: to pressure the opponent with the ball, and use the player under your controll to block off any passing options.

another example is, when your opponents winger is running along your sideline to pass it in to the box, i like to pressure him with :square: while following him closely from behind with the player you controll, in case he cuts back you can step in with that player immediatly and push him off the ball.

hope this is usefull to you

R1 L1 together pushes them off the ball without giving away a freekick.
Very usefull when playing mates

Just don't dive in and try and mark the area rather than the man. If they are out wide then try and decide what you think they will do. Try not to let them get to the byline and just narrow the angle.

If a player with pace is running at you R2 can be useful as you can move backwards without turning around and also from side to side always facing up to them.

I haven't played for a bit so the buttons are a bit rusty in my head but if I picked up a pad I would know.

I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

Is that all, I mean do I need to hold :square: or :x: together while on R1 L1 technique>> since it doesn't seem complete to me. Haven't tested yet but thought of asking for clarification first ....

It depends on the situations; but I usually just control the defenders marking space and anticipating where the opponent will go whilst holding square so a team-mate is applying pressure tight to the attacker.
