Konami has officially announced the next-gen version of Pro Evolution Soccer. The 7th installment, working title Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, will be released in October.

- Team Tacts: The opposition will learn your style of play and the AI will adapt accordingly.
- Use of Entire Pitch: Players will be able to take full advantage of the width of the pitch by playing more long balls into space to create openings.
- Reduced Cut Backs: The opposing defence will close down runs faster, which prevents players from passing a ball into the box and tapping a shot in from short range
- Next-Gen Graphics: Facial animations, shirt pulling, sweating, rain soaked shirts, improved crowds.

Seabass, the game creator had this to add:

"We have taken a long hard look at what has made the Pro Evolution Soccer series so popular, and where we want to take it next. With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait."

Did you ever play PES Manager?

That had interviews and stuff, mostly horrible. :mellow:

I'd be happy with two things..a edit mode and a more realistic ML, moving jobs, a full week before each game etc etc.

I've never played PES Manager.

When you say "a full week before each game", do you mean having days where there are no matches, where you can maybe do training and stuff like that?

Yes I certainly do.

20 teams in a league is a must too, as is, European games been played at night, more competitions, the option to buy players at the start of the game, more than four leagues, only the top four qualifying for the CL...basically a complete makeover for the ML.

Ah the infamous 'square ball' goal that everyone does during an online match. Itll be great to see that these tap ins are going to be cut out and we will see how 'the best at Pro Evo' do online, one goal wonders...

PES7 is released on all platforms mate. PS3, 360, PC, PS2, PSP, and DS.

Reduced cut backs pleases me no end. I hate those shites who pull back consistently. I can counter it nowadays anyway but it takes some doing. The screenies look decent but the gameplay is the bread and butter. I can see it being class.

probably fake, I mean how would they get their hands on the game so early? I saw a similar type screen shot of GTA on the Samsung tv things but it was totally fake and someone with decent Photoshop skills probably done it.

Also, am I the only one that noticed Portugal have got licensed strips?

I noticed as well, great news. Brazil licensed as well, hopefully this will lead to more and more teams being licensed. Great news and can't wait.

Edit: According to WENB:

Its been less than 24 hours since Konami GmbH unveiled Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 on all formats through a press release including six images. Already news coming out of Japan is sparking the flames between fanboys and making a huge statement that at this point in time is not clear whether it is speculation or reality.

The post coming from the Japanese GAME11 Forums says the following:

"PES 2008のイメージはゲームのPCそしてXbox 360版である。 PS3イメージはソニー輸出禁止のためにKonamiによって解放されない。"

Google Translation:
"The image of PES 2008 is PC and Xbox 360 edition of the game. PS3 image is not released for the SONY embargo by Konami."

The translation is good and we gather that the post is saying Konami can't release any images of PES 2008 for the PS3 due to an embargo by Sony. Why would there be an embargo? What are the reasons behind this? Now if this statement is true then we are yet to see the PS3 images of PES 2008. Now at this moment in time this post is pure speculation, however as always we will try and find out if there is any truth behind this revelation.

I said to him that the graphics were a disappointment after what Seabass had said in interviews about there being a new graphical engine, and that it was perfectly normal to feel let down. I also mentioned why I've been slowly going off PES for the last few years, with the novelty of the new features wearing off after two weeks and then being left with the "I've done this all before" feeling. I was also initially pleased, but underwhelmed, by the first batch of shots. From what Konami tell us, a lot of internal resource has been geared to the PS3 version, and it's seems only fair to be optimistic.

Time will tell.

Looking at what I've highlighted, the first bit sounds really promising - a few people have said stuff similar to this now. What the hell could he be talking about that is so amazing? And as for the second bit I've highlighted - is it just me or does that say that the shots released currently are 360 shots and so the PS3 graphcis will be better after all?

It looks decent,but why Kaka's foot is in the ground(I HATE cliping,every next gen game should remove it).Also there is no moving grass on the field and the clotes doesnt look so dynamic.The shine thing is because of some new "maps" tehnology is putted in the game,I dont understand why producers think thats a good look,its in almost every next gen game,except Gears of War.

The gameplay features sound class though and thats whats important.

haha we call that the "fifa 99 goal" in our house. Much hated (but very tempting when losing online)

Hmmm they don't seemed to have improved the graphics much... I would have expected the shirts and hair to be cloth like, altered by a physics system rather than being rigid (which is how they look in these screenshots). My favourite and the best looking screenshot for me is:

look at how awesome the lighting is.

I think there is still time though, they will be in the finishing touches stage of the development and it really is amazing what minor changes such as lighting can do for the graphics. I have faith that this game will look nice.

As if it's necessary to make the computer close down runs faster??

Playing against the computer is ridiculous already and I'll explain why:

If the computer has a fast attacker he will always outrun your slow defenders.

If you have the same fast attacker the computer will always catch you with the same slow defenders.

Why is that? Because Konami can't make the AI so good that it can compete with human players. :angry:

As I see it this is Konami's biggest problem!

On Page 19 they confirm that PES 2008 is coming to PS3. There are also 2 new screenshots, one of a portugal players shirt being pulled and one smaller one of a player in training. They also say that in next month's issue (Out 1st August 2007) they will have an indepth preview.

Yeah that last "scan" was an april fools joke. Also we now know that this installment will be called PES 2008 and not PES7

still has been rumoured elsewhere that there is to be 13 leagues so who knows?

C. Ronaldo signed for Konami,I wanted Kaka,but thats a step in the right direction anyways.Also there are 4 more promo pics from PES with Ronaldo in action:tongue:.See them at the blog,the crowd is now full visible,but its strange that only white skinned people are watching Portugal match...I think they will improve on that.

I don't like how the crowd appears to be looking away from the action. And the fact that there is not a great deal of different people in the crowd. I spotted the same figure 9 times in one screenshot all doing the same action. Nit-picking slightly but it wouldn't take long to add a few extra figures.

noticed on the second pic the shirt pulling :D great work :D

Only thing that comes to mind is WOW!!! Like seriously, the first picture opens up a lot of possibilities, maybe at corners etc you can tug peoples shirts and hope to get away with it, maybe you can intentionally do it as a last man type thing?

Also the 2nd picture-how sleek does the new menu/bars look... and the popup screen of the manager?

Can't wait, I always get the Pro Evo fever around this time every year :(

I'd would be good if you could do the face mapping thing to get your face in the game and buy yourself in Master League or add yourself to a team.

For the new installment I sure as hell hope there's some more stadiums with better grass and hopefully the keepers are more intelligent.

I seriously hope PES7 is a major improvement compared to #6. #6 on the 360 was awful imo. I just hated the slow gameplay. Gameplay was brilliant on PS2 though.

My God. PES6 gameplay is way too fast. It's disgusting. Winning Eleven 10 is way better. Nice Porto stadium pictures. I just hope Benfica's stadium is there, as well as the Portuguese league. That would be ace.

As far as I know, there will not be any Winning Eleven game released in Japan at all this year. There was a Winning Eleven game released earlier this year in America. I think it was called Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

I think that KCET have decided to concentrate on developing PES 2008 for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 this year.

But don't worry, there will be a PS2 version of PES 2008 released this year.

I reckon that KCET will release the next Japanese Winning Eleven in August 2008 but only for the PS3.

To all you people who say stuff like "the grass doesnt move" or "the hair and shirts should be more realistic" try and be more sympathetic to the makers of PES. Next-Gen isn't perfect you know, the games have to be limited enough so that they can be played on the system they are being made for, so you cant just go and put every damn thing you can think of into the game. I mean, yeah its a massive leap from the ps2 and xbox, but its not the ultimate generation, there will be more new consoles obviously and they will have better graphics than the PS3. A blu-ray disc has limited space so you can't expect them to put 40GB of data onto a 25GB disc. Some things like a proper ML structure, etc. are within reason i suppose, because that is realistic and it should have been done a long time ago, but the people at Konami aren't idiots. They are successful businessmen who know loads more about marketing etc. than we do, and if they don't include something that seemed to be successful they probably have an extremely good reason, or why else would you risk people not buying your game?

I'm pretty sure it's the club who decide whether or not they want thier team logos etc on a game. So I don't think you are correct in saying that the teams are chosen randomly. If Konami had it thier own way they would choose the top teams in the prem wouldn't they (no offence to spurs or newcastle fans). The fact of the matter is, teams such Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal will be asking for more money in order to use thier names.

LMAO! U serious? They wont risk people buying their game cause people WILL buy their game. I would rather see a PES Game with full of new ideas while keeping the base core of the game intaked. To help out with things, keep the Master League and add a new feature. But then again, Master League is the ultimate feature of any soccer game. They had it nicely put together a while back and they havnt touched it since then. They only add something here and there, and which are almost abit to nothing really.

Now was their chance to update it and make it more intresting by atleast adding an extra league, more teams in the D2, international competitions where the best players from every country go away on duties from time to time, specially the young kids in ur team and what not. So those are things that i can come up with. If Konami are so smart, they why not add those little details, wouldnt that be more intresting then say...we signed Spurs, Newcastle and Dynamo Moscow or what ever the other teams are they signed for the year.

But im not going to hate on Konami, they brought us a beautifull game, but if saying Konami is smart in marketing, that is smart marketing, but its because they are smart, they are doing what EA was doing. Adding bits and peices here and there with nothing new to the game that came out 2 years before. :realmad:
