View Full Version : Thierry Henry
Does anyone know how to defend against Henry?
My little brother always terrorises my defence with him no matter what team I am. My defenders are falling all over the place trying to stop him and when he goes past its all over. Seems to score everytime he shoots.
Gonna give up soon. too humilating!!
This happens with me when my mate uses Ronaldhinio - the ugly git.
Try not to storm in holding X - instead, shadow the forward using only the D Pad, staying goal-side the whole time. They will weave right and left, but you must stay goal-side. When they make a break for it, tap X to stick a foot in, or a shoulder.
If the ball becomes loose, hold [] to close the ball down with another player, or ^ to smother it with the keeper.
Lastly, you can just slide in and break the f**kers legs, and take a card for it.
Sorted.

I find Shev for AC Milan the hardest.
Cheers TDub.
Gonna try what you said.
Breaking his legs looks really appealing.
(Talking about Henry, not my little brother although that sounds appealing too after gettin beat 5-0 by Arsenal)
Try Man-to-man Marking him? Normal or Aggressive. It might cut down the number of times he gets on the ball, and put him under pressure quicker when he does.
Risky with Line Defence, but in a sweeper system you'll have a player covering behind the defenders marking up the opposition attackers.
i usually stick to the breaking legs technique... so does my dad, hence us having 5 red cards between us in a match last night.

YES ! The best way to defend against Thierry Henry is to get it into your team :) He is by far the best forward there is. He is one of the first player I wanted into my team. I got him and it paid off !
i got him in mine alongside el haj diouf :) quality partnership

Outstanding player, both in the game and real life, I think the idea of having a quick agile defender man mark him may help a little but really the best way has got to be have him in your team !!!!!

This reminds me of a story by someone at issextreme. Their friend always used Shevchenko a lot. One time the guy changed Shev's shooting accuracy stat to something very low like about 15 and had a fun time as his friend couldn't score with him. :D
Cheating.... hmmmm...... ;)
quality lol,might try that.

Ronaldo is no problem. He is easy to injure without getting more than a yellow card.
Two-footed players are always hard facing because they can go either way. Henry and Shevchenko have to rely much on luck if they go left.

as in real life :)
i am blessed with two-footedness. its great :D btw, how do 1 footed players do double stepovers? wouldnt they find it hard to do with their left if they were right footed? and vice versa...
im sure they can move their left legs ash :p
cant quite take free kicks with my left as good as henry can but all the rest i can do, dead ball's damned hard
henrys the man :p no1 can stop me with him
well, im left footed really, but my right is perfect for most things, except volleying. i would say dead balls are easiest to do with your 'wrong' foot. i feel totally two footed with free kicks.
ur bullshittin! loool
volleys are by far the easiest and dead balls the hardest
wierd
depends how u practice i guess, and which u practice most. i never practice volleying.
i seem to be fairly good though with my left, and just totally shite with my right (it rhymes :D)
hmm
weird indeed

I'm right-footed, so my left-footed shots usually
sail over the bar.

Now steadily improving, though.
thats odd to my left footed shots never used to have enough power to get over the bar lol
used to just dribble pathetically along the floor a few yards
how come yours fly over the bar, sounds like just plain bad technique ;) :p
i get more power on my 'wrong' foot, just they seem to be the kind of shots that endanger low flying aircraft.

I'm right-footed. My right-footed ones normally sail over the bar. My left-ones stay pretty low though. Normally take the corner flag clean out, though! ;)
They invented PES for people like me, so I can win...:D

i tell u who ia good rebrov he is a good player try him out his accuracy is good whenever i play ukrain he always scores or hits the posts try him out sum1 and reply bk plz
I find Zidane a nightmare 2 defend against. Not the quickest but tons of skill and ball control, he can weave all over the place.

Like Zidane, but not when defending against him.
Anyway, bout my left foot, I strike hard so the ball just flys off into the sky...

Vieri's pretty difficult to stop if you're playing against someone half-decent, or the comp on 5*.

I swear to god computer players can dive!!
Eusebio, he was in an Edited PE Utd squad that stalked my Master League nightmares for a season.
Re: nobbling opposition strikers, I think I found my brother fixed Liverpool's key attackers and hyped up Man Utd's. Unless G's option file severely down-graded Kewell, wiped half of Owen's 80+ stats, and their were others too.
I was fuming at the time, but now a few days later, I look upon it as a sign of his desperation. :)

Oi mate,
Iam an Arsenal fan and i always play my best mate at pro evo 3 iam always beating him because Henry just runs past and scores but now my mate knows how to defend against him:
try this formation:
3-5-2. it is great because Henry always starts his runs from midfield and with a good midfield he never gets past. Dont always dive in for a tackle just hold him up. And use golie charge quite a lot.
good luck!

I find it hard to defend against him too. (unsurprisingly)
Think the best way is to by him.......
I've finally got my little brother sussed! Ha ha ha! (Evil laugh)
I just use 3-5-2 with 2 midfielders in front of the back 3 (cheers matdagunner) and just stay with Henry as long as I can. Once he gets near the box I just hold down square and about 2 defenders crowd round him till he's got nowhere to go and looses the ball. But you gotta be careful that you don't leave too much space in the box or he'll go for a shot or pass it to an unmarked player and then your screwed.
The formation really helps cause it closes up the gaps in defence that he used to run through and the penalty box is so crowded theres nowhere to go!
Thanks for all the tips everyone!

I really fear Henry, once he had the ball aganst United at Old Trafford he almost always certainly seems to score.
Electrifying pace is his best skill.
