Well right now I am currently the most hyped and excited I have been for a long time. This is merely due to the fact tomorrow Brian Laudrup will grace the Ibrox turf one again. I was lucky enough to see Brian in his prime and I must say he is one of the greatest footballers I have ever seen live and certainly the best to have ever played for Rangers imo.
Laudrup had a sharpness about him and a unique turn of pace when he had the ball at his feet hence he was able to coast by defenders at ease. A true footballing genuis that had the fans on the edge of their seat every time he got the ball and no superlatives do him justice.
How I long for a player of his ability nowadays but tomorrow I can at least go and pay tribute.
Anyway lads, when was the last time someone related to your team made you excited and got you hyped up about an occasion.
Henrik Larsson after he left us, went to Barca and alot of people sayin he couldnt do it in the big leagues and was finished, but to see him play very well for Barcelona and then when I seen him coming on in the CL final against Arsenal I had a feelin he'd show his talents.
The man quite simply uses that football brain of his and I hope we can find someone like him someday in the future...
If we are referring to people that we watched live then the greatest individual I've ever seen perform is Georgi Kinkladze.
The man was a fucking genius.

have to say laudrup was an amazing player back in the day, one of the best ive ever seen amongst some great players of his time.
for me though, every game i seen alan shearer play in got me hyped up. i loved his power in a match, the way he would do anything to get the ball and do anything to get it into the net, when you seen him go up for headers most people wouldnt get, and get a flick on, but get laid out at the same time made me buzz lol. some of the goals he scored aswell were unbelievable specially towards the end of his time with newcastle.
as for an occasion, one match will always stay in my memory for alan shearer, and that was when newcastle beat everton 2-1 at st james park, they were beating us 1-0 and if i remember correctly shola ameobi levelled it up for us late on, and with pretty much the last move of the match the ball was crossed to shearer who was outside the box on the corner about 25yards out, he then proceeded to smash a volley from that spot into the top corner of the goal to win the match for us.
excellent day that was :-)

The Iceman's last game for us was hugely emotional.
If only I had a time machine.

Actually mate Shearer's goal levelled it on about 84 minutes I think and then Bellamy scored a real shit goal a couple of minutes later than deflected off Richard Wright and went in to make it 2-1, truly great days.
And MarkM is Laudrup actually playing should be a good laugh I imagine he is an old fat cunt now.

Peter Hoekstra's last game/lap of honour was a tear-jerker. Especially when he started singing the song we sung about him. :crymore:
Everything he did made me excited and he was one of the few players I've witnessed in the flesh who were worth the enterence fee alone.

Aye, he was indeed playing and still has it. Looks in great shape, has still got the technique and a good turn of pace and got on the scoresheet with the opening goal. The game finished 2-2.
With that being said there were some real out of shape gashes on display, for example Petric, Hateley, Frank McAvennie (SPL select), etc. McCalls still a character but fitness is poor.

Watching Bergkamp play live was truly amazing. Very few players have had the unrivalled vision, technique/skill, passing ability and the footballing brain that Bergkamp possessed. You could say he was a step ahead of many other players on the pitch. His all round team play was so good that he made other players look good, such as Ljungberg. Most of Ljungberg's goals were from Bergkamp defence-splitting passes i.e. Bergkamp vs Juventus - he was absolutely superb on that night. Too bad Europe couldn't fully appreciete his talents due to his fear of flying... ):
Watching Henry play was also amazing - frightening pace, great skill and brilliant finishing ability. Best striker the Premiership has seen in my opinion, and the most complete too (when not scoring goals, he would assist), but I'd say Bergkamp is the best player to ever play in the Premiership.
Bergkamp was a true genius and formed a scary partnership with Henry. Both players had the ability to change a game out of nowhere.

Harsh but fair?
Perhaps, but not from some used tampon who's idea of a good time is getting blootered on Carly Specials. There was no way I was taking that lip from a women and her crackpot family who looked like they were auditioning for a part in shameless.

Talk about a shameless plug. ;)
What is it with Peter fucking Beardsley?
When was he remotely good?
Exciting at times but he'll never be remembered for kicking a ball. He'll remember as that ugly cunt who spoke funny.

I'm sure if you spoke to Gary Lineker, Andy Cole, Ian Rush, John Aldridge and Andy Cole they'd all tell you exactly the same thing as well and not mention at all the countless goals he setup for them all over the years.
Jonny, you know as well as me that if Peter Beardsley never played for fucking Newcastle you wouldn't post that shite up of him.
Very exciting player at times but I wouldn't rank him in the top 50 that has played in the Premiership.

Peter Beardsley was a genius, ask any Liverpool fan and they will say exactly the same thing. Cadey it's fact you're only saying this because he played for Newcastle and you hate pretty much everything to do with our club.
The fact as well the thread was about players who got you excited for your team and I mentioned a player that did, well then of course it's because he played for us. Exact same reason you mentions the tubby little Georgian fella.

Beardsley was an amazing player, Kinkladze however was merely the best player to come out of Georgia which is about as straight-forward as Sven getting a blow job.
Definitely Maybe
