To be honest I couldn't give a shit about the front cover, as long as they don't make him like Adriano. Adriano must have demanded he was made the best in the game or something because he's virtually unstoppable-when in real life, he sucks!
In PES6 C.Ronaldo wasn't that good so no doubt they'll bump his stats up a bit but I hope they don't overdo it-if they do all the 'cheats' online will be switching Brazil + Inter for Man Utd + Portugal!

Ronaldo would have been massively improved anyway, regardless of whether he's on the cover. He won't be on the cover of the Japanese version, and he'll still be really good.

He will definitely be improved, we just hope it's not to the unrealistic standard of Adriano. He was already a great player on PES6 anyway.

Adriano especially and maybe a few others including Rio Ferdinand and Ibrahimovic need to get their stats pegged down a bit.
Looking at this in a completely different way...
In the sales department this may bode well for PES and Konami!
All the youngsters obviously know who he is and after last season think he is one of the best players in the world. So when looking for a new game, they come across pes7 with cristiano staring at them..it may temp them to pick it up..

I think you're onto something there.
All the kids prefer FIFA over PES, we all know that.
I'm sure there are many young kids who idolise him because of his style of play. If you ask me, seeing Cristiano on the front cover of PES 2008 may just persuade them to defect from FIFA.
Smart move by KCET if you ask me.

It is a very smart move by Konami in fact 'coz Cristiano is the #1 selling player atm. 2nd comes Rooney then 3rd is Becks. This should definitely boost the PES 2008 sales.
i dont particulary like him,but he is good,it was laughable that rooney was faster than him,i think rooney had 1 better acceleration and ronaldo had 1 better top speed,i soon changed that.ronaldos pace should be 94+ and his dribbling the same,but consistincey and shooting lets him down.

i think people finally dont care about beckham as a marketing tool anymore,i arent a fan but even fans must get sick of seeing him everywhere.it annoyed me when he wasnt playing well,this season turned around for him,he would still be seen doing adverts left right and centre,must be annoying to manage,sub par performances coz of adverts when he should prolly been working on his game.
I think he's more or less back to his old self now after this season! i do wish him luck in the US!
As for cristiano and the cover, im just trying to imagine what the cover will look like! i smell a cover contest again! ;)

does this mean konami might have nike on board as I would be amazed if adidas and reebok who were involved in pes 6 would allow ronaldo's bright white nike boots kicking a nike ball and wearing a nike kit. It would be brilliant if they were because you could use the nike balls in all matches and not just the spanish ones

So does the likes of Ronaldinho and co. Also you get Adidas' 'Impossible Is Nothing' campaign so you'd think some of they players are bigger than Rooney aswell... strange one that is
I bet if you had up shirt sales, and all the sales of things the players rare involved in Rooney wouldnt be in the top 5.

Got to agree with some of the lads here though. I mean...this is all about advertising...marketing and making money.
Off course a player such as C.Ronaldo will appeal to a younger audience as well. Like also mentioned earlier here... Kids go with FIFA cause of their marketing. It seems easier to fall for it. Once PES does the same job on marketing as FIFA, we'll beat the shit out of them eventually :-P
Who cares who's on the bloody cover... Are we gonna stare at the box all day or pay attention to the screen where all the action is really going on ?? =)

As is mentioned the cover art does not make the game. As I have read it will be Cronaldo and a local, local meaning Nation rather than Province/County/State. So in England it may be Cronaldo and Terry and in Holland Cronaldo and a Windmill. Anyway greenegg cover would sell like hot cakes (if I was the purchaser of said hotcakes this would be faster than light)
I'd like to see C Ronaldo + Quagmire on the front cover. Wonder how'd it turn out :rolleyes:
