Lorenzo Iafrate returns to football in an unexpected line of events, bringing Roberto Donadoni to fill the vacant Manager's role at the new 'Bonzo FC'.
In a shock but altogether refreshing twist, Lorenzo Iafrate is now the new Chairman at the newly-branded 'Bonzo FC' with Roberto Donadoni following him in swiftly to take up his role as Manager. After the departure of the previous chairman, a reshape was indeed in order. Charlie, previously the man at the top at what was then 'Golazo de Messi FC', stepped down after declaring other pursuits in his life were in need of more urgent attention.
With Charlie having departed, Lorenzo Iafrate returned after a long spell of absence from the world of football. Sat beside an eager looking Roberto Donadoni at a 3 o'clock press conference, Iafrate had a few words to say:
"Haha, it is good to be back, yes. Why did I leave the game in the first place?.....A number of reasons. It's a tough race to run in, you see. Think of it as a long distance hurdle event. I had to phase out for a while...but...I'm extremely excited to be back at what is a fantastic club, with a fantastic set of players, a fantastic board to work with and indeed a wonderful Manager in Roberto here."
Lorenzo Iafrate then confidently nodded at the press before departing with a healthy and respectful few words for his predecessor:
"Let me lastly wish Charlie the very best of luck in what he is doing right now. It's for a hugely worthwhile cause and I hope he knows that he most definitely has our utmost respect."
It was then down to Roberto Donadoni to say his piece before he flew to the club's retreat in Southern Italy where the squad were due to start their pre-season training. He had this to say:
"Well I'm flattered. Truly flattered. I got a call a couple of days ago from Lorenzo stating his interest in taking me on board. It certainly didn't take me long to decide. A superb team that is going places, a squad packed full of quality, drive and determination and superb facilities to help us along. That's not mentioning Lorenzo's reputation as a great man to work with. I'm excited about this. Forza Bonzo FC."
All change it seems. It's certainly a positive sign for Bonzo FC...
