Been raping the BETA completely, and it's amazing. I was cautious of how it was going to work since I'm used to the WW's in COD but they've pulled it off excellently. The gameplay is as good as ever, with some very welcome additions such as Last Stand, which is a "Perk", so if you've been shot down, you can as a last gasp attempt whilst dying on the ground, pull out your pistol and try and kill an enemy before finally dying. They've changed the scoring system too, which I think is better. They've also got a ranking system similar to R6Vegas, but they've made it better on COD4, and introduced greater weapon upgrades and such.

What's the Vegas-style health system like? I like the idea of no health bar, but the screen seemed to get too blurry on Vegas when I got shot, making it almost impossible to see things. :huh:

Similar to the old COD2 style really, just goes a little red and gives you an indication of where you're being shot from. Quite straight forward really, works well.

This looks brilliant, will have to get it for the 360 to play over Christmas. Should start playing COD3 again soon, I got that amongst a few other games, and never really gave it a lot of attention, despite enjoying COD2.
been playing the beta the game is amazing, great gameplay and easy to pick up and get in to, I like the last stand in cod4 I have got a few kill's while dieing on the floor its a nice feature.
What's the best and easiest way to get a token? (You can still get them yeah?) I've gone gold again and could do with some online gaming in preparation for Halo. :cool:

theres a link in this thread somewhere putting you through to gamespot just register there then you get a code to submit for the beta I registered and got my token in the same day it took about 3 or 4 hours to come through.

the beta is still running, they must have stopped taking orders for tokens in th uk.
if you were lucky enough to have registered brfore the token orders ended you'll still get your token reading in the gamespot shoutbox and people are saying it takes up to 3 days, i was lucky I got mine the same day I registered.

You have to get an 8 kill streak I think, then you can send in a chopper but you can't actually ride in the chopper. It just does all the work for you.

Multiplayer game modes:
Free-for-All - Every man for himself.
Team Deathmatch - Use teamwork to kill opposing players and reach score limit.
Team Objective - Domination and Search & Destroy. Capture flags in Domination, with respawning. Destroy and defend objectives in Search & Destroy, no respawning.
Team Tactical - Small team Deathmatch and Search & Destroy.
Search and Destroy - Much like Counter-Strike's bomb planting mode, there are two teams: attackers and defenders. Attackers try to plant a bomb at one of two bomb sites, and defenders try to defend the bomb sites. If explosives are planted, defenders must defuse them. Players only have one respawn per round. A round is over when all players on one team are killed, or when the bomb explodes or is defused.
Headquarters - A radio spawns somewhere on the map. Your goal is to capture the radio for your team. If Team A captures the radio, they must defend it from being destroyed by Team B. Team A will only have one respawn until the radio is destroyed or the max time limit for the radio is reached. Team B will respawn at set intervals. Team A earns points for every second the radio is held. To capture/destroy a radio, you must stand in the area of the radio. The more players, the faster you destroy it. A new radio spawns when time limit is reached or the radio is destroyed.
Domination - There are flags at certain points around the map. All flags start neutral. Teams battle to hold the most flags. Game ends when the time limit is reached, or the score limit is reached.
Sabotage - Similar to Search and Destroy, only the bomb is neutral and there are objectives located in both teams' bases. Each team's goal is to take the bomb and blow up the objective in the enemy's base. The bomb carrier can fire his weapons, but his position will be announced periodically throughout the game. Also, unlike Search and Destroy, players will have unlimited respawns as opposed to just one per round.
Team Hardcore - Hardcore Team Deathmatch and Search and Destroy. Limited HUD, extra bullet damage, friendly fire on.
Old School - Old School TDM and FFA. No classes. Weapons are pickups, health is increased, and jumps are higher.
Oldcore - Old School pick-ups and jumping. Hardcore limited HUD and extra bullet damage. TDM.
Ground War - Big team games-TDM and Domination.

I wonder how the make the transition to the modern warfare if you will, as that was obviously the big plus of the original COD's. As in I don't want this to become a bog standard generic shooter, as there are so many of them out there at the moment.

The single-player looks superb. I don't usually care for SP these days, but this one looks quality, apart from the shitty night-vision mission(s) of course. :no: Although Half Life's is still the best and the best shooter available this year I reckon, unless you've already played it of course. >_>

i have played the first mission and i'm very impressed with the game and the game play. also the graphics are brilliant. so far i can not fault the game but like i said i only played the first mission that was about 10/15 mins long. i shall update more later.....
for any elite that has a flashed 360 and can not wait till friday get in the elite section...... :D

got the game today one of my mates on live had it so i phoned up the local gamestation and they said come down and pick it up, alot of americans are very highly ranked with all the best wepons havent even played the single player missions yet so if you live in the warrington area get to gamestation asap

I've read that you don't actually do the jumping, sort of like on Hitman where you walk to the end of a ledge and he jumps automatically. :/ I'm waiting for a review before buying.

Yep. I had a few team death-matches, I can't remember the names of the levels, but one of them was superb. My team and I spawned at the beginning of the level and all crouched out of the little area and into the middle of the street, there was wrecked cars, bins and shit all over, we began creeping towards this building with stairs leading to this balcony when I see these two madmen rushing out of an alley guns blazing, they managed to kill two of my team-mates straight away, I hid behind a car expecting to be safe, but the mo-fos began shooting at it and the windows starting smashing and bullets were whizzing past my head, it was beaut. This is where I discovered the sprint button (LB) and I got down this alley just before the car blew the fuck up. :happy: Class experience, full of realism, tension and it takes a lot of skill.
The first mission of SP was also a blast. Some of the set-pieces are absolute quality. Was it just me who thought Ross Kemp was the sarge? :huh:

What's the best weapon to use when you create your own class? I've only unlocked a few and I'm currently using the AK47, which is decent, but I need something with better aim, preferably with a scope.

keep useing the AK and you unlock a real good scope(a laser sight) for it mate it is brilliant well best one to start with :)

Yeah, I just hid in one area as I kept getting grenades flung at me wherever. But in this one side room it was ideal to throw them back :happy:
Most annoying things I've found so far are enemies acting like NFL players and throwing grenades for miles so they land directly next to you, and never quite distinguishing who are friendly AI. I just shoot first and regret it later.
What difficulty are you lads playing it on?
How fast did any of you finish that training course at the start? I done 20 seconds.

Yeah, grenades are a pain in the arse but I'm getting the hang of throwing it back at them & press O to hit the ground.
What I did was make sure I took out the RPGs then sweeped along from the left.

Finished it & I must say I enjoyed being Kurt Russell at the end. My 2 fingers at the bottom of my hand that aren't used while playing this game really hurt.
I have 67 kills and 67 deaths online. :wave:
I need to unlock the perk where you pull out a pistol just before you're killed. I've been a victim of it about 5 times now. :blush: There's two annoying things about this game;
1. No match-making. If it had this the game would be perfect as you'd be playing with people at the same skill-level, rather than level fifty-fucking-fives who play 23 hours a day. :/
2. The fact that people are obsessed with getting knife/rifle-butt kills. I've lost count of the times someone on my team has tried to be clever and knife someone, only for them to turn around at the last moment and shotty them. :/ :/
Other than that, it's the best multiplayer experience around.

Well in most levels you start with a fixed set of weapons but you'll most likely find a sniper in the level somewhere. Some missions, however, you carry what weapons you had in the last mission onto the next. I'm pretty sure in multiplayer you can start with any weapon you want.

The sniper part is really good. Them patrols are a pain. Has anyone been collecting intel ? Ive collected 5 of 30 at the mo. Wondered what extra's you get when you have collected them all. PC version btw.

Depends on what error you're getting, sometimes the servers are just fucked up and you can't join anybody.
I decided to play it online for the first time today. Spent for fucking ages trying to get a game but to no avail. Sometimes it would finally connect but then disconnect after a few seconds. I managed to connect an play through one match though. It was pretty good. I hope it gets sorted, I've never had problems with any other game.

Yes, if you kill 3 people in a row but you can counter this by using the stealth UV perk.

If you shoot your gun without a silencer you can also give your position away on the radar.
Man thats a cool little feature. I'm stuck because I want this game because its online mode will probably be the best, but I'm more of a Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Vegas guy. That game looks fresh.

Veteran's a fair bit of a challenge. I'm ploughing my way through though, one bit at at a time. The T.V station area was fuckin hard. I ended up leggin it past all the baddies and hiding in a corner till my boys killed them all.

I'm playing it on Regular. It's pretty solid. First time I've played a FPS in at least 3-4 years mind. Pretty much the only games I've played in those years have been PES, GTA and Prince of Persia.

I was online last night and on one of the levels there is a well. I jumped down that to see what would happen and got 250 Xp points!! It's the goodbye challenge I think.

Grenade definitely. You hardly get anywhere with last stand, in all my time using it I only got 1 kill. With grenade I've had about 30 :erm:

Search and destroy has alot of people playing it too. Its a really fast way toget your rank up. Really, really fast.
i.e One kill = 50 points.
Patch for PS3 version should be out soon. Should improve online :)

When you go the prestige mode, you lose everything that you've earned along the way and start from scratch again, excpect you have a special symbol beside your name which makes you cool. :mellow:

Go past the Ferris wheel & the dodgems. Pick them off as the come in waves.
Managed it in the end in a cheaty way, i.e. hiding behind to the apartments to the left of the enemy. Ah well, I thought it was ridiculous and I wasn't enjoying it so I just did that in the end.
Completed it anyway, and it was totally awesome, definitely more fun than HL2, albeit more compact. Nice storyline too, and the mission after the credits is just the cherry on top. :)

Heh, doubt it seeing as at what happens to everyone at the end, highlighting the sad side of war. Definitely more realistic in terms of what happens rather than games where you win everything. The news report at the end was quite poignant, saying there were just "nuclear missile tests" and how even though they saved the world it will never be known. Made the game ever better.

Online is excellent, even after me finishing a terrible day online, I managed to get in a great last performance before I KO'd it.
Those Search and Destroy matches are utter pish, no one intends on team work, just want the points and dont really ever plant or defuse the bombs, all to get their Rank up, cuz dey iz nrds.
