So who do you think is the best premiership player?

I think it has to be Van Nistelrooy, he is a great player even after he had that very bad injury.

P.S
He is so much better then Henry

RUUD VAN NISTELROOY. He is so good unbelievable.
And he is also dutch:D :D :D

Do you mean for the season that just finished or the whole of the premiership or just generally?

Henry or van Nistelrooy.
It's close.

van Nistelrooy is the best target man striker in the premiership.
Henry is more of a forward winger and is better at assists.
They are not directly comparable due to differing styles.

I'm now going to state my argument for Henry:

Henry is undoubtedly an unbelievable all round player. He can shoot from 30 plus yards and can score from two. He is without doubt a team player, but can the same be said about ‘Van the Man’? Yes he can score but is his all-round game as good as Henry’s? I personally don’t think so. After all, if you are playing for one of the best teams in the World, will you not get the chances to score? The same could be said for Henry but I believe he makes as many chances as he gets.

The twenty assists he got this season says everything about Henry the player. He is an unselfish, as he is good. Though admittedly for all the praise I give to Henry it is a fact that Ruud has proved his brilliance in the league and the Champions League. Is that a major factor towards the critic’s tending to lead towards him when comparing the two? That depends, because Arsenal do not play with a conventional centre forward. We play with a left winger (Henry) and Bergkamp who plays just off of the defense. This is why we fail In Europe and will continue to fail in Europe. It is also the reason I am hoping and praying the rumours of us approaching John Carew are true. Anyway, Ruud is an old fashioned centre forward, this benefits him in Europe greatly and could be the reason he scores many goals?

Anyway the point I am trying to make, is how can you really compare two players who give different things to their teams?

Your point is...? I expanded on my reasoning, you didn't. I say what I said and came to that conclusion.

Chill! I agree with you.
But it's all been said before and is getting old.
If people want to argue about it, that's up to them.

My compromise is to say, imagine if they were on the same team!

True true! I'm not being rude or anything I just get annoyed at the 'he scored more he must be better!' people. There is more to football than scoring!

Theirry Henry is the best.

Hmmm! If it was just down to goals then RVN. But to say that is all his game is about I think is unfair. He really gave Utd a nudge when perhaps they were flagging in spirit. Henry does the same for the Gooners. He is brilliant too for what he does but my only criticism is that he doesn't put away as many as he should. RVN dives too much.
But best player...blimey. Maybe David Seaman. Had a very hard 12 mths with Brazil and Macedonia. Has come back and made some great saves and proved his character. Believe in making a crazy choice as it's too easy to choose Henry or RVN

If your reffering to me, then NO I did not say RVD's game is all about finishing. I simple said Henry has a better all round game.

Your argument for Seaman is interesting...

Fair enough. They are slightly different players though. Henry is a converted winger? And plays a lot down the wing and as a link man as well as a striker. RVN plays more as an out and out striker and 2nd striker who holds the ball. He also plays a lot down the middle... they are both brilliant in their right? I would love to see them together for... Leyton Orient!

I thought my argument for Seaman was interesting too! :- )

Fair enough. But what's a striker supposed to do?

And I'm an Arsenal fan, so you can forget bias.

I think Joe Cole is the most naturally gifted player in the Premiership. I can't be arsed to give reasoning right now, because I just gave it in another forum, but if someone wants me to do so, I will later on.

Dennis Bergkamp's probably my favourite over the course of the Premiership, and Pires currently.
I like players that do things that make you gasp.
Bergkamp's unbelievable hat-trick against Leicester - best hat-trick ever....His goal against Newcastle that had Dabizas spinning around for a week after the ball disappeared....His touch and finish against Argentina after 90 minutes in the World Cup to knock the buggers out...
And Pires for being arguably the most creative player in the League at the moment. And his goals against Southampton (end of last season) and Aston Villa (the season before) too.

Between Henry and Van Nistelrooy, Henry comes out on top, he is more of a complete player, although Van Nistelroy scored more goals last season, look at Henry's assists, they are just as important.

BlueScouse

I would've said RVN, without his goals and class Man Utd would never have won the Title last season.

ADG
24-07-2003, 22:55
Henry is better than RVN. No dispute they are both quality players but henry can run at the defence and score more than RVN, even if hes not as accurate. Alot of RVNs goals have been simple rebounds and tap ins, which most players could score.

just an opinion

BlueScouse
27-07-2003, 19:31
Yeah but it was those simple tap ins and rebonds, like you said, that won them the title.

elliottume
27-07-2003, 19:53
Always remember, you can only get a rebound or tap-in by rounding the keeper, or having a pretty good shot anyway...
