Steve Nicol

Nicol's coaching career began in 1995 when he was named player/manager at Notts County. Four years later, he arrived in

New England as a player/assistant coach with the Boston Bulldogs. In September of that year, he joined the Revs as interim

coach for the final two games of the season, both of which were Revolution wins. He returned to the Bulldogs as

player/coach for the 2000 and 2001 season before re-joining the Revs as an assistant coach prior to the 2002 campaign.

Nicol was named the 2002 MLS Coach of the Year after leading the Revolution within a goal of a MLS Cup Final victory. In

2003, he led the Revs within a goal of reaching the final for a second straight season.

The past three seasons Nicol has managed the Fantasy League side Merseyside USA. They have improved from 8th place in D2, to 4th place in D2, to 3rd place in D2. With the new look and roster for his 4th campaign Nicol could finally lead them to the top.

Nicol is also family friends with chairman, Preki-USA.

Nicol and Preki's first Transfer Window in charge looming

New manager Steve Nicol and chairman Preki are about to embark on their first transfer window since taking over Midnight Riders FC of the First Division. Big changes are expected as the two try to see their plan to win a title comes to fruition.

"I like the team, we haven't dropped any points yet," Nicol said. "But if we are going to challenge Racing and the other big clubs at this level we're going to need to improve in all aspects of the game."

"We have some targets picked out," Nicol said. "We even have some deals set in stone, but we are going to wait until the window opens to officially announce them.

Steve Nicol has always been a fan of this talented winger who is currently plying his trade for Newton Heath. The asking price is supposedly Robin Van Persie who has not appreciated playing on the wing for Nicol. This move seems to benefit both sides.

According to a source close to the situation the Midnight Riders are actively shopping the Brazilian attacker in hopes of scoring a right winger to take the place of Park Ji Sung who is going on loan to Dragonfly's outfit.

Klose brings his act to Foxboro

Another long sought after player for Steve Nicol has reportedly agreed to a deal in the next transfer window to bring him to the United States.

Miroslav Klose, along with Nuno Maniche have supposedly been traded for out of favor Nani and Michael Carrick.

Not to be underestimated, Maniche would be a huge factor for the Riders as he would provide much needed passing vision to a midfield that has workhorse Yaya Toure doing the work.

Nicol has often spoken of really solidfying the squad up the middle and the most recent rumor, that sees Vagner Love and Owen Hargreaves coming to the Riders for back-up keeper Jose Reina and Jan Klaas Huntelaar, would do just that.

The youthful Anderson hopes to provide balance to the midfield

Foxboro, Ma - Midnight Riders FC boss Steve Nicol has finalized a deal to bring young, Portugese superstar Anderson to the club. The move saw defensive stalwart Gabrielle Heinze go the other way to Racing Club Combine Harvester.

"I think we're almost settled in our squad, Anderson is that guy we wanted to connect from our back line to our attack," Nicol said. "We have Ribery, Tevez, Toni, Nani and Joe Cole all to score goals, now we have Anderson to get the ball to them."

Pundits say the move does leave a slight hole at left back and it will likely be Nicol's main focus for the remainder of the window.

Foxboro, Ma - Midnight Riders FC boss Steve Nicol announced the acquisition of Brazilian veteran midfielder Ze Roberto. The deal saw Abou Diaby and Fabio Cannavaro go to DP United. MRFC also picked up Belgian stalwart Daniel Van Buyten in the swap.

"We think Ze Roberto is the perfect addition to our midfield," Nicol said. "He is one of the best at receiving the ball from the defence and turning it into offense."

Reports close to the organization have also hinted to a few of the players on the trading block.

Target forward Nikola Zigic appears to be on the way out of the club before playing a match after the acquisition of several other attacking players. The asking price is reportedly €6 million.

Legendary midfielder Claude Makelele's future with the club is also supposedly on the rocks. With Anderson, Ze Roberto, Yaya Toure and Owen Hargreaves all ahead of him on the pecking order it appears Claude Makelele would need to go elsewhere to satisfy his desire to play first team football. A source close to the situation says that at the moment Nicol will not take less than €10 million for the destroyer but he is open to dealing for a left back.

Young starlet Toni Kroos who the Riders have been looking to loan out for some time will supposedly remain at the club if a deal can not be made. The source said that either Piotr Trochowski or Kevin Kuranyi could be released instead. Kroos is still being offered for a half season loan.

Park Ji-Sung, the Korean superstar, has long been rumored out of favor at MRFC. The emergence of Nani as a reputable force has made him expendable. Park, like Makelele, will not be sold for less than €10 million. Nicol, however, would apparently like to deal Park in a package with Makelele for a left back.

Foxboro, Ma - Hundreds of thousands were on hand to watch the Midnight Riders Football Club and their owner Preki display the Copa Libertadores trophy, their first piece of silverware in the clubs history.

"We're really proud of this one," manager Steve Nicol said. "But we want more, I'm leaving on a scouting trip right after the party tonight and I'll be looking to strengthen the squad so we can bring back more trophies."

The crowd was not ready to look ahead, however, as they spent most of the rest of the night partying in th streets.
