View Full Version : ML Teams

I was just wondering how many different ML teams each of you have saved onto your Memory Card(s)?

Do you have just the one which you use to play against mates? Do you save your mates' ML teams to save them bringing their Memory Card round to your house?

Or, are you like me, and have several ML teams just to vary it up a bit, and give yourself a challenge to play against the AI with. Also, it lets you host tournaments with 4-5 people without the need for Memory Cards (other than your one), where everyone picks an ML team.

If so, does each of your teams have a completely different squad? Or do some players figure more than once?

Discuss. :)

I have two.

I have an amazing squad built on hard.
But I am building up one on Extreme for use in PESTAL tournaments which has less good players but feels like more of an achievement.

Think I still have one from PES1 too!

What is the PESTAL tournament exactly? I mean it's clearly a PES tournament of some sort, but what are the details? When and where is it/are they held? How do you enter? etc.

Good luck for the one you're off to by the way (or has that already been played?).

PESTAL tournaments are held every two weeks on Sundays in Kentish Town, North London.

If you need info, I can try to help here or you can email
PESTAL@hotmail.com
which you need to contact to enter.

It's well organised and a lot of fun.
There are a few different varieties of cups sometimes to make it interesting.

Soon there will be a league and cup for those with master league teams built on extreme level. Three classic players max in the team at once and no created players.

Kentish Town? There's a bit of luck. I live a single bus-ride away, in Crouch End. I'm definitely interested now. :D

Is there a PESTAL website anywhere?

Is it only Extreme created teams that are allowed or is that only for this up-coming league system?

What do the tournies every fortnight consist of then?

You've been to one all the way from Manchester then?

Zygalski
22-05-2003, 19:28
I have been to them all and had a great time.
No website for it yet but I hear there will be one.

You're right, extreme teams is a special thing.

Mostly we play National team cups with group stages (play each other once) followed by QF and so on to the final, including a 3/4 place playoff.

But there are also cups for clubs and doubles teams.

You pay £8 to enter once registered and the money goes towards winnings for the top three players.

andremc11, don't be too confident as people have come with that attitude and received thrashings!

It's definitely worth checking out.

Yea,I went to visit my relatives in March 2003.My cousin who thinks he is better than me in Winning Eleven 6 FE(I give him a copy of the game patched with WEdoIT 1.0) after I beat him 4/4 games. The scores were 3-0,4-2,3-1,2-0.My family went for two weeks. The second last day and he now tells me that there is a PES tournament called PESTAL just down street.Man did I beat him. When I was finished we decided to go since the tournament just started I got to the semi final. But my annoying cousin who got knocked out in the first round wanted to play ,he got beat 2-1 in extratime not bad huh.I got to go back in the summer after exams. So I'll play In the tournament then and also beat my cousin again.

andremc11, which March tournament did you go to and which team were you?

National teams tournament with Brazil. That time the tournament went on for a month.;)

Nifty1Pound50

I think I'll have to visit this after my AS-Level exams are over.

I may as well start up an Extreme ML now.

Zygalski
22-05-2003, 20:11
Was that 9th March?

It's confusing because 23 March was clubs cup
and on 9th March, the semi-finalists were England Vs England and France V France.

You shouldn't have let him play for you!
What happened in the 3/4 place match?

No sorry I got messed with a friendly I played against France.I don't if you were there the tournament had a mistake it ended up having three Englands.I was one of the semifinalists.:D

I don't think it was a mistake, anyone can be who they like.
I was there.
I got to the final.

I might just retire now...:D

I remember playing on Extreme and it being quite similar in difficulty to Hard, especially considering I have auto-save on anyway. Is it particularly harder to buy/acquire players?

Or is it simply a case of points being at a premium because it's not as easy to win games?

Whereabouts in Kentish Town is PESTAL held? And how many people do you get on avg?

Zygalski
22-05-2003, 22:51
It is a 5-10 minute walk from Kentish Town station.
Normally there are over 15 people.... er guys.
Though there have been female supporters, no players yet.

On Extreme mode, the CPU team cheats quite badly at times and you can't stop it from scoring at some points.
Transfers are much harder, hardly anyone will sign for you so you have to get Harry Redknapp to help you out!

You will lose your first match in Extreme mode guaranteed!
But as you get used to it, it'll get better.
If you begin a game and it crashes or you quit if you are losing, the autosave will register the result as a 4-0 defeat for you.
Nice!

Nifty1Pound50
22-05-2003, 23:07
Yeah. I knew about the autosave feature, I've tried it before.

Played two games today - won 3-2 against Spartak Moscow (deadliest D3 strikeforce going) and lost 2-1 to Aston Villa.

Not too bad. Which building is it held in? I might pop down to the next one and watch.

Zygalski

I'm not exactly sure of the name.
I'm sure you can get the details if you email

(who you have to contact to register anyway)

Look forward to seeing you there!

Cheers for those.

You'll see me down there, most likely on the 1 June one, but I don't think I'll be playing in it.

I'll go and watch a few tournaments, compete if I can spend the time, get to know some people, etc.

Definitely compete in the ones over summer though. :D

What's the furthest anyone travels to it from?

There have been a few from South London.
Maybe andremc11 is the furthest traveller.

Not me.I won my first game 3-2.It was a lucky break and I put it away easily. The defender passed the ball right in my path.Luckily for me it was Ronaldo who has some speed,so I sprinted slightly away from the defender and when he got close I turned sharply and he fell leaving me with the one - one chance.I chipped the keeper.

Nifty1Pound50

How did you get Ronaldo by the first match?

It's not possible - the transfer window isn't open until match 3?

andremc11, I meant if you used the default team.
How did you buy Ronaldo before your first game?
I though that you had to wait a few games before buying anyone.

Also, can't you make your points in one post rather than several in a row?

I use a Gameshark Cd I entered a code to have all regular players on the team whenever I start Master League.

That's cheating in my book.

Still, it doesn't effect me in any way, it is up to you, and I am not one to preach at a person for cheating. If you cheat in this way, or even whether you consider it cheating or not, it's your choice. :D

I personally managed to win 3-2 with the default team on Extreme Mode in my first game. Then I lost the next game 2-1. I've said that already though. ;)

It is cheating but if you feel you have to then that's up to you.
But it's completely against the whole point of playing master league, isn't it?!
Expecially on Extreme.

Try it without cheating.
One season of extreme without cheating will make you a better player.

I'm hoping to become a very good player after a few seasons of Extreme Mode. I might try it without signing anyone.

Zygalski
23-05-2003, 22:22

Also, if anyone wants to enter an extreme team for PESTAL, it's safe to assume it should have been done without any cheating at all.

Nifty1Pound50
23-05-2003, 22:25
Then again on the other hand, I'd get too attached to Castello & Co. and turn up in Kentish Town in a few weeks with the worst roster. Still, heads'd turn, and if I even came near to earning a corner against anyone, I'd gain respect.

Zygalski
23-05-2003, 22:28
:D Good point.
I don't think they it is possible to get that attached to them.
They can get so annoying sometimes when they won't pass straight.

If you want, you could keep the original team saved on one file and build up another just in case you change your mind ;)
