Predictions and views on the Premier League game at home to Derby today??? (Kick off: 3pm)
I think it will be an easy game for us not only because we are formidable at home currently but Derby have a shocking defence and i reckon a 4-0 win!
2 for RVP, 1 for Cesc and a derby own goal :D
I think Derby will be hammered just like when they against Liverpool.

Or Adebayor is simply... Adebayor.
He only similarities he shares with Kanu are that he is tall, and he is from Africa.
He was brilliant today though. If Adebayor maintains his level of form then I have no doubts he can hit 15-20 goals in the league.

Were rich bitch
The Gunners publicised the results in their financial report for the year ending 31st May 2007, which showed their group operating profits were up 274% to £51.2million.
The results prove that the club's move to Emirates stadium was financially deft - they averaged match-day revenues of £3.1million per game during their first season at the new ground.
Their turnover well exceeds that of Chelsea and Manchester United, whose results for the same time was £152.8million and £167.8million respectively.
Foreign investment
Cash balances were up to £73.9million, from £35.6million in 2006, and this comes despite Arsenal's financial future coming into doubt in recent weeks, with increasing talk of foreign investment.
However, the current board have remained insistent on the stance that no investment is necessary - a standpoint backed up by the results.
Delivering success
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood says the results indicate how the club will progress for the future. He said: "The best way that Arsenal can continue to deliver success is by maintaining a business that pays its own way.
"We have always pursued, and intend to continue with, a policy of re-investing profits and surplus cash into team development.
"Emirates Stadium now provides the club with the firm financial foundations from which we will continue to build trophy winning Arsenal teams for many years to come."
The figures quoted are before 'player trading and depreciation' which means money from player departures such as Thierry Henry for £16million does not contribute towards the results.
The announcement now means Arsenal sit in the same financial bracket as Spanish giants Real Madrid, whose turnover was £202million for the 2005-06 season
:ninja:
Let's hope they maintain their class, and don't get idiotic and spend it all over the place like Real or Chelsea.

£70m pound transfer pot, apparently. I hope he doesn't bring in too many players during the next window, cos I think it could unsettle things.
It was interesting to read that Fabregas thinks the players were becoming more and more intimidated by Henry, that's why we never played that well last season. This is what Cesc said: "He is a great player but it was not easy to play alongside him. We were a bit inhibited - dependent on everything that he wanted to do." It looks like Henry had a lot of power in the team, maybe too much and it even hindered us somewhat.
Well, it looks like the players feel they have had a weight lifted off their shoulders now Henry has gone.

Team News for tomorrow:
Arsène Wenger will ring the usual changes for the Carling Cup tie with Newcastle at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
The Arsenal manager will rest almost all of his first-team regulars to allow squad players and youngsters to hog the limelight. It is a policy he has used with some success in recent years. In three of the last four seasons his side have reached the Semi-Final and, of course, last season they were just pipped to the trophy by a full-strength Chelsea at the Millennium Stadium.
“You will see Bendtner, Diarra and Denilson,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online when asked about the make-up of the squad. “Maybe Eboue (ankle) will be coming back as well.
“You’ll see Justin Hoyte and Alex Song maybe Eduardo and Diaby. Then there is Armand Traore and Lukasz Fabianski who we have not seen a lot of so far. We have sold out and we will put out a good team. We want to give the opportunity to our fans to see some unfamiliar faces.”
If they play this would be the first start for Diarra and Bendtner while Fabianski would be making his debut.
Arsenal.com will announce the full squad on Tuesday.

Wenger will never spend money just for the sake of it and he will always want to bring in the right type of player!
And he didn't stop Henry from leaving because he is a shrewd manager and knew that the influence Henry was having on the team was not always positive...this said that is why I'm surprised he made Gallas captain after what he had apparently been saying in the papers etc but if he joins in the spirit then I guess he won't be the third captain in as many years to be sold in the summer!

Senderos and Song to start at defence tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose and I am certainly not expecting us to win. A draw would be a good result given Song is starting as a CB.

Whoooooaaaa. Thats a nice hit.
Funny thing was Arsene said to the press "You criticised us for trying to walk the ball into the net...now you see we are scoring we headers and shots from long range" or something to that effect! What a great way to answer the critics!
I really do hope we keep the momentum going...at some point we are going to lose...but with enough luck and determination we should be ok for a few more games I think. It's also great that the goals are coming from everywhere...we just need the defenders to have a go at scoring...and we'll be very Chelsea/ManU-like!!!

I think he's not capped Dragonfly. Abidal is ahead of him as are some others. To be honest...it's an honour...but I really dont' think there is a huge impact on Clichy's performance or mentality. In reality, he can still get much better with decision making and crossing, and he's only a youngster even though we forget that.

Not the best game and not the best performance. We lacked the creativity to consistently open up West Ham once Hleb went off and West Ham seemed content to use Ashton as a battering ram for most of the game. Took this from another forum...
It's a graph comparing this years progress and last years.

The blue line represents the average number of points the Premiership champions have had over the last several years.
Nice one Vip.may that yellow line keep going up! What is interesting is that it is opponents who feel we are tougher...even west ham felt we "kept the foot in" this time around...good stuff boys!
Diaby is becoming quite good down the left...not fast...but controlled...and his dribbling is pretty good!! Really good improvement there I feel...Walcott now has to do the same...and he'll be flying!

I'm not even interested in looking at the table until March. As you say, we've still got some tough fixtures coming up.
On the other hand, not trying to jinx it or anything, we should be looking at a much more solid defense when Gallas returns instead of Cygan Jr., who to me is one player who is not good enough. Last year it was Flam, but he kindov improved as he came to understand his own limitations and kept on doing what he's good at - holding the midfield and not trying to pass the ball or do creative stuff. So it's a reason for (a little bit of) optimism.

Id love to say you are right but to judge any final standings in NOVEMBER is silly.
We know how quickly things can turn - remember 2003/04, werent we 10pts clear in march?!
I agree that we look strong but i would still say that Man Utd are favourites, im sorry but i have to be realistic.
Id settle for still being in the race going into the last 6 weeks of the season. Theres still a very long way to go, injuries and loss of form usually plays a part.
What if Toure got injured tommorrow, that would leave us with Gilberto and Serder-off at the back, id fancy Sunderland for a point if that happened.

I'm sure you can if it's part of the deal. Sometimes teams pay a fee to take someone on loan, so once they've paid that, the team loaning the player out can't take him back. Anyway, it depends on what was agreed between the two teams.

It was a very good match last night. Very entertaining. We weren't at our best, but there were still plenty of excellent passing moves, from both sides to be fair. I was surprised at how attacking Bucharest were playing, and that helped make it a great game.
Flamini was very good and has been this season; he's a good supporting partner for Fabregas. Gilberto has someone to challenge his role, but I think Gilberto should still be number one. Although I slate him enough, Senderos was surprisingly excellent. I don't remember him making one mistake, even on the ball. He seemed assured on the ball and played some simple passes without giving the ball away. The whole defence was very good to be honest. I'm glad I can say that, since that has been our weakness for about a season and a half. However, we were still a bit shaky at defending crosses.
I think we're definitely going to finish top of the group, I just hope we don't get complacent.

I've always said that Senderos is decent in Europe. The game is far slower than it is in the Premiership and this helps him considerably.
In fact, he's incredibly similar to Cygan in that respect.
Didn't get a chance to watch the game last night as the United game was on. I'll have to look out for some extended highlights, but by all accounts we were largely in control which is pleasing as we've not always fared well away from home in Europe.

It looks like Richards is building foundations for a move to Arsenal.
Micah Richards has hit back at the claims yesterday that a mention of him being an Arsenal fan is anything new and confirmed to mcfc.co.uk that he’s close to signing a new deal with City.
Of yesterday’s reports, the England defender exclusively told us: “It’s ridiculous. This was in a magazine I spoke to once, a long time ago, it’s very old stuff.
“That came from a silly question like; ‘I’ve heard you’re an Arsenal fan, would you like to play for them?’
“I’ve said when I was younger that I’d like to play for Arsenal – one day – and that was it. Now they’re making a big thing about it.
“I’m just about to sign a new Manchester City contract and last week I said hopefully I’ll be captain one day.
Regarding that new contract, Micah confirmed: “I’m in final talks and hopefully we’ll have something signed very, very soon, it’s just down to the finer details.
“But this talk of a buy out clause is just rubbish as well, totally rubbish, I don’t know who’s put that in the papers. It just seems like there’s people just trying to twist things.
“It’s certainly not the case that I want to move anywhere. I’m looking for a new house in Manchester, so why would I want to move anywhere now?
“I’m enjoying my football week in, week out and I’m playing for England, so what more could I want at the moment?”
Papers blow things out of proportion.

Cesc Fabregas' agent Joseba Diaz insists they are in the dark over reported interest from Barcelona in the Arsenal midfielder, but admits they would listen to offers if the Catalan giants were to make a move.
Fabregas, who has been trailed by Real Madrid for over a year, has been recently linked in the Spanish press with former club Barcelona, where he learned his trade before switching to Arsenal four years ago.
However, Diaz claims they have heard nothing from Barca about the possibility of signing Fabregas, who is currently preparing for Spain's Euro 2008 qualifier against Denmark on Saturday.
"I have spoken with Cesc and we are not aware of any interest from Barca. And if they do have interest...hopefully they do, because they are a great club, who play great football and Cesc was very happy there," Diaz told Radio Marca.
Diaz later told Marca newspaper: "Neither Cesc nor myself have confirmed the news, and the truth is that the only thing that we are concerned about now is the game against Denmark. What will come, will come.
"If we received an offer from Barcelona clearly we would listen to it, it is the club which taught Cesc everything and it would be a compliment if that happened."
Barca's arch-rivals Real Madrid were keen to bring Fabregas back to Spain this summer, with the player himself admitting he had spoken to Real president Ramon Calderon and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic during the close season
However, Fabregas, who signed an eight-year contract extension with Arsenal last season, insisted last month he had no regrets about shunning a potential move to the Bernabeu to remain with the Gunners.
Fuck off Barca and fuck off Marca.
Marca has never been a reliable source. It's a bit like The Sun, it also seems to like to destabilise players.

Thats what happens with the red-hot premier league players come january, they are linked with moves abroad because they are unhappy with the manager or has fell out with the team. all that shit from the tabloids.
Last season, Cristiano was linked with a move to Barca apparentaly because he said once 'that he would love to play with Ronaldinho one day'.

Adebayor will not be missing for us in January! Togo lost to Mali so they didn't qualify for the Joke Cup of Nations.
High five!

WooHoo!!!
I thought Adebayor got kicked out of the Togo national team after a fall-out with the manager; they probably apologised to him and decided to call him up now because he is playing too well to refuse :D.

Seems like he has recovered from his injury. Another Eduardo goal for Croatia. He seems to be scoring for fun for them.

 That chequered Croatian fan falling over was quite funny.
Well if someone should've scored against us it had to be Eduardo... after his hat-trick in Israel it's actually the only that makes sense. Israel's out, well boo fuckin hoo (like we had a chance to begin with).
I watched the match, and Eduardo is one classy guy. He made a fool out of Benayoun, sombreroing him like a Benayoun was a 5 year old. Plus he has an excellent sense of when to get into the end of crosses.
I just hope Arsene doesn't "dry" him on the bench for too long - that guy needs to play more often.

Personally I think Wenger has gone about it brilliantly. When you consider that when he was signed, all the talk was about how he's " the perfect replacement for Henry", yet the way in which Wenger has gone about in ensuring there isn't really too much pressure on him is ingenious.
Clearly he couldn't talk much English which would have been a huge problem on the pitch and he'd also have to, and to a degree still needs to, get used to the style of our play, and the way other teams play. So by playing him every now and again, and given him 90 minutes against the likes of Sunderland, he's building him up perfectly.
Anyway, top of the league with Adebayor and Van Persie in form - there'll be no complaints from me!

OH FUCK.
Just as he was hitting form, Van Persie is now injured (again) for at least 4 weeks after falling awkwardly in a match.
Eduardo, this is YOUR chance to shine, and please don't injure yourself.

Or Hleb might play that supporting role again, like he did successfully at the start of the season. I'd like to sea Eduardo do well there though, obviously.
Well you know how it is, luck shines on you one day and rains on you the next one. We were happy we got to keep Ade and got this injury shit. WTF why do they always have to play like fuckin assholes in those international qualifiers FFS.
Too true...well...at least we should do better with Adebayour still around next year...Hopefully VP will be back sooner rather than later!
Could've been worse...one of the Slovenia defenders kept elbowing and shoveling him constantly. It was rather unlucky, the way he got injured.

Maybe RVP should ask Cali for his physio's number. Actually, maybe not. Cali seems to have been injured forever.
You mean Cali in WWE or Cali in PesGaming?
Dragonfly

WWE. :erm:
Damn...that's pretty bad for VP...it's not that he is injury prone...just bloody targeted for rough treatment! Sh*t!
Well...a win at Bolton will help put things in perspective...Walcott or Eduardo to score first (if they play)!!!!
Nice move by Walcott for the assist. Too bad he's scared 90% of the time.

Incredible performance. 7-0 doesn't even tell the full story of the quality of our football. Is there any limit to Cesc's ability? Already looking forward to him giving Steven Gerrard another footballing lesson. ;)

One day people will recognise him as being the best midfielder in the world. For now I just love having him at the club.
Would have liked to see Diarra play I'll be honest. Perhaps Wenger is making him and Jens suffer for having run to the Press.
I must admit going, I feel scared as a Liverpool fan about what might happen this Sunday. The thing with Arsenal is that they really have not had a challenge yet away from home. If they can beat Liverpool at Anfield, I favor them to win the Prem.

I'd take a point to be honest.
We've played 6 at home now and only 3 away. Only one of which was outside London and we've now got 8 out of the next 10 away from home I believe.
If we get through that period, I might start to consider the possibility that we might win something.

Speaking of that;
Lehmann Warns Gunners Boss
Jens Lehmann has warned Arsene Wenger not to "humiliate" him for too long by leaving him out of the Arsenal side.
The Gunners boss failed to include Lehmann in his squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Bolton, sticking with Manuel Almunia and naming Lukasz Fabianski on the bench.
The German keeper has not played for the Premier League leaders since August despite fully recovering from Achilles and elbow injuries.
"It's possible that some day I'll feel like talking about the whole issue," Lehmann told German TV channel Premiere.
"But at the moment I'm just swallowing it all as part of the humiliation. That's something one has to take in. But I think and this is aimed at my dear manager - one shouldn't humiliate players for too long.
"I'm an Arsenal player and I won't just fade away quietly."
Last week Wenger admitted Lehmann, a member of Arsenal's title winning side of 2004, was no longer the first choice keeper at the Emirates saying that he had three "world class" goalkeepers to pick from.
Lehmann added: "Wenger spoke of three world class goalkeepers. One of them must be me. The other two have proved their class by winning titles? If I think about that, I can't recall any.
"I'm convinced that I'll be playing again. Almunia has not yet showed that he can win matches for us.
"I've experienced this situation before and know what the others are expecting from the goalkeeper. I can't imagine he'll be able to handle that."

A little bit Drogba esque.
What he said about Almunia was very nasty though.

I thought Hleb, before he was taken off the pitch, was easily the best player of the team.
He was brilliant in every way.

I think you could afford to let him go, hes crap, too old and arrogant, Fabianski is supposed to be good and you have a decent keeper in Almunia and you have been linked with Robert Green who isnt half bad
