I currently have an older Sony Ericsson which lacks the qualities I am looking for. The memory is poor and generally the phone resembles a brick.

As such I have decided to invest in something new although I'm having trouble deciding which to get.

I do however know that I still want a Sony Ericsson and that this time I'm going for a monthly contract. (I get a 40% discount with Orange via the link therefore it is pretty obvious thats the network I'm going for). Around £21 a month seems ideal as I am paying out for car insurance among other things now so the £35 range is my max on the net.

W880i (http://www.thelink.co.uk/mobile-store/138145-998/sony-ericsson-w880i-black-orange-dolphin-35-18-months-tariff.html#prod_overview) or W950i (http://www.thelink.co.uk/mobile-store/136999-202/sony-ericsson-w950i-black-orange-dolphin-35-18-months-tariff.html#prod_overview)

Which should I get and why...

Or are any of those other Sony Ericssons worthwhile ?

Only get the W series if you're using it for MP3s. Otherwise, the K series (K810 and K850) are excellent. The K850 is quite new so might cost you money though. The K series are more bulky but have an excellent camera. I used to own a W880 and if you do want the phone for MP3s - and don't care about taking pictures - it is lovely. Not sure how nice the W950 is.

I also always think you're better off buying direct from the network and not via a third party (Link, Carphone Warehouse etc.)

Both them phones are crap, one doesn't even have a camera

Bare in mind I don't use an Ipod or a MP3 player and this will be used for listening to music as well as making calls.

Came across this also which I'm taking into consideration

K810i (http://www.thelink.co.uk/mobile-store/142634-1011/sony-ericsson-k810i-blue-orange-dolphin-35-18-months-tariff.html)

Get the W series as you don't have an MP3 player. I've got the K810i and like it a lot but don't use it for music.

mufcsean, I don't agree. Nokia's are crap, as are Motorola's except for the V8 which I myself will one day soon hopefully own.

Samsungs are the best phones

For everything except sending text messages. Don't know why but if I'm not using a Sony Ericsson phone for a text message, I give up half way through and throw the phone up against a wall. That said, the camera on the K810 is bettered only by the Nokia N95 which eats its battery for breakfast. Even the 5MP Samsung G600 isn't sharp enough.

To be honest mufcsean I'm a big fan of Sony Ericssons and feel they are pretty good phones.

I'm going for the W880i Sweey.

Thanks for the imput both of you.

As you stated you owned it previously can you give me any additional info Sweey.

Also from the link at the top which 12 month tariff would you recommend at 35 quid

Its thin as anything in a good way, battery life seems nice and I only sold it because I had another upgrade on the way. The tariff you go for depends on what you really expect to be doing - texting or making calls. All I would say is that it would take A LOT for me to agree to an 18-month contract so try and steer clear. I don't like being tied in for so long when things keep changing.

Original?

Personally I want to dump my Sony Ericsson for a lovely Blackberry.

The W880i looks nice and sleek. Also looks very thin, so I'd personally go for that phone.

W880i. I'm a bit of a Sony Ericsson fiend!

If you're used to Sony Ericsson then stick with it.

K800i ftw...

Or because I can't get anything else! I'd get the 880i without a doubt.

I currently have a SPV C550. As you can expect, I'm looking for a new phone and I've been drawn tot eh Sony-Ericsson K850i.

Anyone got any thoughts on this or reviews? Cheers.

I used to have the K700 a long time ago and loved it. My friend has the K800, as does a friend of a friend and both love that. I now use the K810 and love it. Excellent cameras on these phones - as that's what the K series specialise in.

So to summarise, its shit :ninja:
