Well, the title says it all.
Mum & Dad's present to me this crimbo is an X-Box 360 and a fistfull of games. The thing is, the T.V in my bedroom at present is shyte and I need a new one to do justice to Halo 3, Gears of War, Forza Motorsport et al.
This is where you come in.
Im looking at spending about £300 ish (Lower is fine but not too much higher) for a flat, widescreen T.V - Roughly 20 - 24 inch should do the trick. Either on the web or on the high street.
Over to you.

For an extra £10 you can get that one which is 37", alright it isn't the best make of TV's but hey it's a 37" HD TV for £400, plus it has Integrated digital (freeview).
Try this first.

My cosuins girlfriend works in argos so she's gonna get me 10% off so a 32" TV for £405 isn't too bad
I was browsing and saw came upon some quite cheap Hd teles made by some unknown brands. My worry would be it's reliability and overall quality.

That's my main issue with the cheap ones. I've been told to get either a sony, samsung or LG

I've got a question about these HD TVs. I've seen some displayed in shops, but most have poor quality picture. I've heard that you have to fiddle about with the settings to get a good picture; is this true and how long does it take?

I was looking for a tv today. Searched for Panasonic and Toshiba, Panasonic was better but a bit more expensive.

Don't get that 37 incher Trooper, the quality won't be great.
I got my Samsung 32inch (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-LE32R88BD-LCD-ready-Freeview/dp/B000XT1XT0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1196341147&sr=1-2) from dixons for around 450 a couple months back. It has 8000:1 contrast ratio and is beautiful. 3 HDMI sockets too which is useful. You can get the 26inch version which I think has the same features for 100 less.

What would you do if you could get a cheaper and unknown make with a 5 yr warranty compared to Sony, Samsung and LG which only has 1yr?
I reckon if it werent reliable why would they put 5 yrs on it, but the salesman reckons the cheaper one uses the waranty to attract the customers because it doesnt have the pulling power of the bigger brand, this sounds like bullshit to me.

The Freeview box on this kinda tips the balance towards this one ...
Argh! This T.V buying business is a tricky one.

Buying a HDTV is relatively simple, buy a Samsung unless you get a good deal on an LG or a fantastic deal on a Bravia. I can't be arsed to go through the numerous reasons again, trust me.
The reason that 37" is cheap is because it's shit, you get what you pay for, also if you're room isn't big enough getting too large a screen will be a false economy.

I settled for the 32'' Samsung. I didnt get a HDMI cable the same day and was dissapointed by the quality, but once I got the cable it was freakin mindblowing.
