I didn't. I knew it would be a difficult game, as Bolton make themselves difficult to play agains (atleast Nolan will be playing attractive football next season, with us).
Now, to top the day off, C'MON YA BAGGIES!

i'd like to see all 3 play, but thats wishfull thinking, and even then it'd mean roon wouldnt get the amount of chances he normally does.
anywho, chelski only drew, so the end of the season will be fucking tense!
wahey only 7 points behind Chelsea and anything can happen in football.
ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud.
You reckon he'll do a half each? then Celtic are off upto SJP on the same week
Couldn't careless mate.
For a player who held the club to ransom like he did a few years ago to charge £25 a ticket and keep all the money despite criticising footballers who have testimonials on numerous occasions, he won't be getting a peny of my money.
Sir Alex Ferguson was at the San Siro last night to watch three potential United signings. Ferguson was believed to be watching Milan's Gennaro Gattuso, who played a part in the opening goal, and Lyon's midfielder Mahamadou Diarra, who equalised.
A third player, Milan's Johann Vogel, did not leave the bench.
Milan beat Lyon 3-1, but they barely deserved it.
Oh... and United reserves hammered the city's 6-0 last night at the impressive Ewen Fields, Hyde. Fraser Campbell scored four as United moved six points clear of Villa at the top of the FA Premier Reserve League North.
Victory over Villa away on the 22nd April should ensure that United retain the title.
Yea i saw him on tv giving an interview to ITV at half time, if i was Ferguson i would go for Diarra.
Well done to the reserves.

Gattuso would be great, unlikely to happen, but I'd love him to come to us. Diarra? I'm not sure about him, haven't seen enough of him to judge really.
As far ive seen of diarra he is a good player but if united got him he would be a long term signing whereas Gattuso not sure about.
Manchester United have confirmed that they have signed a deal with American International Group (AIG) to become their new shirt sponsors.
AIG become the third name on the famous red shirts, following Sharp and Vodafone, after tying up a £56.5 million contract.
The deal lasts for four years and it follows the breakdown of negotiations with Mansion.
It is a British record deal, surpassing Chelsea's £10 million per season sponsorship from Samsung, although it is worth less than gambling firm Mansion were prepared to offer.
"We are delighted to begin our relationship with AIG," chief executive David Gill told a press conference.
"Let's be clear. We passed up the opportunity to do the world's biggest shirt deal to do a deal that is right for Manchester United and a deal that underlines our position as the world's leading club.
"AIG’s global operations complement our great fan-base and we are excited about the global prospects this relationship brings.
"This is a blue-chip deal for a blue-chip club."
AIG's main interests are in general insurance, life insurance and retirement policies, whilst also offering general financial services.
Based in New York, they employ almost 100,000 people.

AIG apologises for fraud with $1.6bn settlement
David Teather in New York
Friday February 10, 2006
The Guardian
American International Group, one of the world's largest insurers, yesterday agreed to pay $1.64bn (£940m) to settle charges of accounting fraud. The penalty is one of the steepest paid by a US corporation.
AIG said it "regrets and apologises" for the misconduct. It was accused of manipulating its books to make AIG appear in better financial health than it actually was.
The settlement does not include former AIG chief executive Maurice "Hank" Greenberg and former finance chief Howard Smith, who are still facing an investigation. Both have denied wrongdoing.

That is a bit s**t to be honest! its pretty pathetic aswell if u ask me,obviously utd were gonna be doing it!
As for the nike comment as far as i no we're still with them!
The Mansion deal was refused because the Glazer's and United had a problem morally with being sponsored by an online betting company. They obviously have no such qualms about financial crimes or fraud. Still, they are both large corporations worth billions of dollars, so they can both eat my piss.

Great result for us. A shame I can't see Chelski dropping enough points to lose the title.
Quality performance, especially the second half
Good to see one of the quadrants fully opened, 70,000+ :D
Rooney was incredible 2nd half, Silvestre was surprisingly brilliant as well. Vidic was solid too and Cris looks more like a team player every game, although he did do a bit of showboating towards the end but hey, we were 2-0 up against the Arse so fair play to the lad.
Overall quality game to watch and a good win. Not quite as memorable as last season when we halted their unbeaten run, but it keeps things interesting in the title race.
Chelsea have Bolton away next weekend and we have Sunderland at home on Friday, so we have a good chance of clawing a few more points back. Come on United!!

Heinze coming back is great news, but I hope he isn't being rushed back into action in order to get some match practice for the World Cup. With the way the team performed against Arsenal, and since we only have 5 games left, I don't know whether it would be right to stick someone in who hasn't played for about 6 months.
I think we can go to the Bridge and win. Think about it - we're on top form and I think we'll keep winning up until then. It's our penultimate game of the season so really what I'm trying to say is: What have we got to lose? We can just go for it regardless on whether Chelsea have wrapped up the title or not.

11-04-2006, 14:59
I mean it is vital that Bolton stop Chelsea on saturday and i believe they can do this, at least hold them to a draw. Everton will lose at the bridge but maybe if you can get it down to say two points by the last day (difficult but certainly not impossible) maybe the mags can do you a favour becasue they would love to fuck Chelsea over on the last day of all things.
The point is you have to go there and beat them at the bridge and for a game like that i say leave "Big Tits" O Shea on the bench (no disrespect to him) and play Van N and Saha with Rooney behind them and say a midfield of Park, Giggs and Ronaldo, don't rest one of the upfront men and then bring him on in the secold half, just fucking go all out and hit the cunts, i'm sure most of Britain would love you to beat them and i would love it to go to the last day (kinda of becauise i want to see us play on sky, we haven't played in fucking ages and i'm sick to shit of Liverpool and Chelsea on the box every fucking week)
Also Blackburn away for them the second last game is no easy fixture, there still trying to go for the CL place so they might get a draw or win against Chelsea
We've still got a MASSIVE chance, just beating Sunderland on friday will put even more pressure on Chelsea, the gap will be four points and they have to go to Bolton the next day. in fact I think our next 3 games are played before theirs so we'll be asking all the questions.
I'd love it to go to the last day at least! especially as I'll be sitting in the Stretford End!

I'd agree. Alot of United fans are starting to get greedy thinking we have more than a 50/50 chance of winning the league. I gave up on the league when Chelski played Liverpool, being relatively happy thinking it'd help us secure 2nd place. If they drop points to Bolton, I may, just may start to get excited. Until then, let's just enjoy watching United play attractive football again. Also, the hoepful return of GABBY HEINZE!

30th April I think. We don't need an extra striker IMO. Saha is impressing me with each game. When he came on against Arsenal he held the ball up and turned well. Ruud is always gonna bag you goals, whether it be from the bench or not. Rooney is, well, Rooney! If this guy can keep his head screwed on, he really could win the World Cup for England. If Ronaldo can do it for Brazil (with their shoddy defence), who's to say Rooney can't do it for England!?
Yep you are right 29th April 12:30 kick off. Before that united got a trip to white hart lane which wont be easy.(17 April)
30th sound more likely. A game like this will be moved to Super Sunday. When can you last remember two "big clubs" playing eachother at 12.30 on a Saturday? United usually play the POOl at this time, but it's been that way for a few seasons now.
Great performance against Arsenal, bar the first 15 minutes we were completely in control and the result was never really in question.
After 10 minutes of our game our midfield looked lost, and a shadow of how they looked (for the most) in the last 8 games or so. Was the last eight games really just a minor miracle? Judging by the way the ball was passed around Giggs and O'Shea then it seemed that maybe we'd all been fooled. But when O'Shea switched from running around aimlessly to man marking Fabregas, and Park came inside and worked to help his mates the game changed. Fair enough Arsenal threatened first half, but as the game went on the threat became less and by half time, thanks to a couple of good Lehman saves and an outstanding Toure one, (which Graham Poll must be embarrassed about missing), United should have found themselves up.
Second half and the work rate of Park and O'Shea, the guile of Rooney and Giggs, and the talents of Rio at the back all shone to counter the ever decreasing Arsenal threat, and once Rooney thumped home just before the hour it was a case of how many we'd win by. When Saha came on for Ruud we looked even more like scoring a second, with his constant running crating problems for the Arsenal back four.
Many positives to take from a season which looked like it was deemed for complete failiure four or five months ago. Whatever happens now, we know that we're perhaps just a couple of players away from the dawning of a new team, one with a real challenge ahead. And if we do overhaul the most despised team in World football, won't it be nice, whenever that season may come?
I reckon we need a striker we got saha ruud and rooney at this moment. Solskjaer will be back but will he play injury free? whose to say ruud will be at united next season?
I reckon we need more competition for places in the strikers department.
And if we do overhaul the most despised team in World football, won't it be nice, whenever that season may come?

Fergie said that after he knew that Chelsea were gonna offer him so much money, every team in Europe with any ambition would like Ballack, Real Madrid also pulled out of the running when they heard how much Chelsea were gonna give him.
Also about Diarra, he is gonna cost more than Essian according to Lyon president but Real Madrid are also on the move for the player who is a great DMF and I think that he would be a great addition to either side as both Real and United are lacking that type of player ATM.

Why does Ferguson constantly play O'Shea in midfield? He isn't even good enough to be in the starting 11. :ninja:
I thought John O'Shea played alright today. It was more Giggs, Evra, Ronaldo and Rooney who didn't look too good today.
Well, I don't think "upset" is the word being used to describe the Sunderland players.
But oh wait, they're officially relegated now I think, so they will be.
The fact they are going has been well known for some time, they wouldn't hae went into the match expecting anything, so they won't be too despondent.
I would have thought the Man Utd players would be more upset, they needed to win this to have any real shot at the title, and a draw against these lot is a pitiful result.
the title race is over now. drawing with sunderland is a joke. i hope we dont lose 2nd place to liverpool

True! Considering we've missed Heinze all season, Scholes for the last 3 or so months, we've done quite well. People forget we have had both our first choice centre midfielders missing for alot of the season. Alot of play will come from the midfield, would Chelski be 9 points ahead if Makalele and Lampard weren't in their squad since Christmas? I don't think so.
Anyone got any news on Scholes? Last time I heard, they didn't even know IF he would be back.
scholes is back in training i believe but wont play for the rest of the season

Man Utd really need to buy some quality midfielders, there is no doubting the quality of Scholes, Giggs and Ronaldo, but who have you got to fill that gap when they are injured? I think this is where Man Utd have suffered this season, in midfield, there is no depth.
As this is my 1,000th post, I have decided to dedicate it to my team, Manchester United.
So here it goes....
COME ON UNITED!!
Many Thanks...

Minor blip, i didnt watch the game but from what i heard man united had more chances and possesion but had one of those days.
Spurs 1-3 United...
I see a 1-1 draw but personally I don't really mind about the result because we are either going to win the leauge against you or have you give us a guard of honour for the second season in a row
Fucking hell the guard of honour!
Its a shame the title race is over early i would of liked the game vs you lot to be significant. Rather chelsea win the title tommorow.

Paul Scholes thinks that he will be back playing again next season.
"I am getting better," Scholes said. "I still have a bit of blurred vision in my right eye but I am starting to step up training and I just want to get myself ready for next season.
"I am aiming to take part fully in our first session of pre-season. Hopefully, I will get through that and I will then be ready to start the season.
"Obviously you are concerned originally when you are told it is serious and you have to rest. But in my own mind I was always confident I would be back playing again. I know that is not definite yet but I am pretty sure it will happen.
"The specialists wouldn't let me play on as it was, but it has started to get better and I now feel I will be okay for next season."
"I felt a little bit of blurred vision before the Birmingham match in my right eye. I told the medical staff after the match and then I went to see a specialist. He told me it was a quite serious condition and I had to take some time off and then hopefully in time it would get better.
"I had bleeding in the eye and the vision was blurred. A small vein was blocked behind the eye and that was causing the problem.
"They assured me it would get better but they didn't know whether it would be three months, six months or whatever. I was just ordered to rest.
"I didn't train for the last three months but in the last four weeks I have been doing three days a week. Yesterday I did my first bit of football and that was okay.
"I don't know whether the vision in the eye will be completely clear ever again but whatever vision I have left in the right eye I would still be able to play. It is not clear but I can see enough to play football - I hope!"
United have again been linked with Villarreal's brilliant Argentinian Juan Roman Riquelme. Here's the score. Villarreal's shrewd president Fernando Roig has always said that Riquelme can go if a club pays his buyout clause of £30m. Barca get 25% of any Riquelme sale.
Is he good enough to play for United? He's world class. As was Veron.
Riquelme scores goals and sets them up. He's averaged a goal every other game in the league this season. He takes free-kicks, penalties and corners better than any other player in La Liga, including Ronaldinho. He's a slow but inventive playmaker, not a tackler, a box-to-box player or a dominant midfielder. In the words of his manager, he's a creator rather than a destroyer. He really struggled at Barca where he played in 2002-03 - although he was played out of position in a team that demands unrelenting attacking football.
Unusual character too, Riquelme, who is 25. One of 13 kids from a proper poor barrio in Buenos Aires. He's very, very quiet. He's the only Villarreal player to live in the town, residing in an unpretentious flat. Most live in decent gaffs by the sea in Benniscasim (where they have the Spanish Glastonbury) - apart from Forlan who lives with his missus in Castellon - yes he's got a bird for any internet weirdos who like to speculate about his sexuality, Nicky Butt's non-existent city tattoo or John O'Shea's sexuality - he too has a perfectly nice girlfriend.
Deportivo's Aldo Duscher, 26, another United target, would love to move to Old Trafford. A compatriot of Riquelme and sometime international colleague, Deportivo want to cash on and recently sounded the player out about a move. Is he good enough to play for United? Doubt it. He's a completely different type of player to Riquelme, far more defensive and a Keane-esque hardman. Who has a pony tail.
its higly unlikely we will get riquelme but i would love for him to come to us our midfield problems will be over. its also unlikely we will get diarra now but we have been linked with Duscher for some time. i havent seen much of him but i have heard that he is a good player
Paul Scholes thinks that he will be back playing again next season.
i hope not
dont get me wrong scholes is a good player who should have a few more playing years but i have long since thought he has become less and less of player and is undeserved of a first team place i much rather rooney play AMC and have RvN and saha upfront or buy riquelme(though this seems unlikely)

I wouldn't mind Riquelme at £30m to be honest. Of course there are a lot of cheaper options, but he's probably the best going at the moment. Ideally I want to get Mascherano as well (two Argentine midfielders), and a left winger. Left winger options I see are Lennon and Robben (depending on what his feelings are about Chelsea at the moment).
Everywhere else seems satisfactory/good. We have a good enough strike force and enough good defenders for next season.

Do you really expect to get that much money in the summer ? The £30m is pushing it alone never mind 2 more midfielders.
I'd much rather see us keep the £30m from Riquelme and spend it more wisely. Diarra and Mascherano are definetely more possible, and we've been keeping Diarra under close eye for some years now so its highly likely that deal will happen. For around the £15m is my guess and Mascherano maybe £10m depending on how the club feels about his deaprture. I couldn't see Robben leaving, rumours where flying about saying J.Cole is a possibility but as they are, mostly bullshit.

I saw Diarra for Lyon against PSG the other night, and I was hugely impressed. He was on the ball all the time, at times was playing just in front of the defence, and at other times surging forward having chances on goal. Would be a great addition to the squad.

Deportivo midfielder. I think he's balls, the only thing I remember him for is breaking Beckham's foot.
Aka the hardman in spanish football.
They are all balls as you say apart from Diarra..
Sources have said that Riquelme would be up for a move to United, and the Spanish press are already reporting that United have made a bid for Riquelme.
Also, a report in Spanish newspaper Marca claims that Ruud van Nistelrooy has been offered to Real Madrid, just as a Satanist would sacrifice a chicken to Beelzebub.
There are no quotes to back the story up.

Riquelme would be the new Veron at United.
The guy has little pace which is why he is suited to La Liga as he has more time on the ball. You only had to see how much he struggled against the Arse to know he wouldn't be a great signing.

Veron was a worldclass player and was sold far too soon.
Whilst it's true (and horrendously clicheed) that south american players have a hard time 'adjusting to the pace of the premiership' class is class, and Riquelme is far more creative than any midfielder we've got. He probably wouldn't be afforded the same time on the ball to dictate games like he does for Villareal, and it'd be a gamble, but 'the new Veron' isn't the worst thing a player could be labeled as.

true look at this mazin' news:happy:
Gabriel Heinze will start for United’s Reserves against Aston Villa on Saturday, playing his first game in seven months since damaging his knee ligaments.
Rene Meulensteen confirmed to ManUtd.com that the Argentine defender, who sufferd his injury against Villarreal in the Champions League back in September, is in the starting line-up.
The match is vital for the Reds, victory would all but seal back-to-back Premier Reserve League titles for the club.
Heinze, who turned 28 on Wednesday, is hoping to be fit for the World Cup finals this summer. But, with only three first-team games left this season, the combative full-back has a tough task.
However, having initially been expected to miss the entire season only to return sooner than expected, few would put it past him to be involved in the Argentina squad for the finals in Germany this summer.
You can watch United match with Villa on Saturday 22 April 2006 at 10:30 BST on MUTV. KO 11:00 BST.

I'm not sure on riquelme, against Arsenal he looked very slow, so I'd worry about him in the premiership. As someone said before he could be another Veron. Plays well in europe but in the premiership, takes a bit too much time on the ball.
Deco would be great, but Barca aren't likely to sell him.
Richardson is gash.
Riquelme would be class, but Fergie should take a look across the Villareal midfield at Marcos Senna, their defensive foil and a solid performer in both of our games against Villareal this season.
He looked excellent against Arsenal last night, breaking up play and tackling well. He's a tidy footballer who'd be a great buy provided we get the creative midfielder the side's been in desperate need of since Ali G left. Senna is out of contract next summer too.

Hey guys!
Just wondering, does anyone know what has happened to the Chinese man utd player - Dong FangZhou? He scored a classy goal in Asia tour last summer..
Last i heard from him, he was out on loan with Royal Antwerp, and scored loads of goals.
He's even on the front page of their website - but i recently looked on the Man Utd, and checked the progress of the guys out on loan. Nothing about Dong...

He's still at Antwerp, scoring a lot of goals for them. I'm not sure how long he's gonna be out there, but I think the reason he's out there is so that he can get a work permit which allows him to play in England.

ahh i see - yeah! work permit, coz he doesn't play for his national team regularly.
What does everyone else think of him? Work in progress??
Dong Fangzhou is a quality midfield, hes on loan until 2008 or 09 (i think)
due to him not getting the needed papers

I thought he was a forward? SAF rates him highly, so he should turn out good. Then again, SAF rated Kleberson and Djemba-Djemba
he started out as a striker but i belive saf is tryin to make him into the withdrawn striker/attacking midfield role scholes current has

Saha is starting ahead of Ruud again. In a way I'm disappointed, but then again Ruud has started the last 3 matches and hasn't scored, whereas the match before that Saha started and did manage to score. Also Vidic is in instead of Brown.

Almost time boys. I have a feeling we can pull off the victory :ninja:

wtf is ferguson playing at starting vidic over brown. brown has been on form. vidic hasnt empressed me so far. this is an important match and i dont think vidic should start over brown, and as for van nistelrooy and saha i dont really mind saha will add some pace with rooney

Vidic is decent, but Ves Brown has been in amazing form this season, so I don't understand either why he's being left on the bench  If you're gonna drop someone, put rio on the bench, not Ves.

What's the Chelsea line-up? I'm hoping Mourinho's left out Robben, Duff and Cole again

i know rio hasnt had been performing this season, buy he and wes brown is our best partnership, vidic and wes brown in defence against chelsea is a bad idea. man i wish we had heinze he is our best defender

lets hope so but i doubt it
I'm glad Saha is starting as he has more pace than Ruud so i think he will do better against Chelsea.

I think that first half proved to me why I have thought Saha is shit for quite a while. I thought he might actually be able to control the ball today, considering he hasn't been too bad recently. Bring Ruud on ASAP.
Also, long time, no see Top Gun ;)

hold up, saha has terry man marking him not allowing him to turn while he has the ball.
the ref is a dick man that was clearly a foul on ronaldo and with the corner silvestre that idiot lost his man.
how the hell did rooney miss that chance, i have noticed over the past couple of months rooney has been missing a lot of chances

But I feel Ruud is a stronger player than Saha, so would do a better job. I don't have a clue what Silvestre was doing, as he was nowhere near the ball, and wasn't running towards an unmarked player  Lets just hope that we improve in the 2nd half.

The ball got stuck under his feet. Missing alot of chances? You mean the chances from well outside the area? Name me another United player who could have hit the shot he did that Cech saved?
Fucking hate Gallas:angry:.

Looks like a broken foot. When he went down he went straight for his foot.
