aiya-yay disasterous result bottom of the championship southend knocks out top of the prem and current holders united...its like one of those embarassing dreams
Not too bothered that we're out to be honest. Was never that interested in progressing in this cup, nor the FA. By playing less matches it reduces our chance of injury and that's something we definetely do not need. It gives us a bit more concentration on the Prem, I'd rather win the Prem than the CL this year to be honest.

true but we should never FA-bash and anyways would you not liek the squad to emulat ethe treble or possibly the quadreble(not anymore)

Even if we did win I don't think we have the sqaud to emulate the quadruple
I can't see anyone doing the treble or quadruple for a long time.
I can't see anyone doing the treble or quadruple for a long time.
Agreed, there was simply no way we were ever going to win a series of trophies this season, especially since our squad lacks depth. Generally we have a great team but just a 'good' squad. We'll need to make a signing or two I feel in January to keep up as plague has struck our camp and we've already had a few injuries.
Heinze didn't look sharp at all last night, quite disappointing. It is after a long period of time out but you'd have thought he would still have some sense of awareness.

Not sure what to think, it says a newspaper reported it which could mean it's untrue. I wouldn't mind seeing Adu here, he's young and he's a half decent striker at the moment with potential. Although the sum can't be high, it would be ridiculous.

Yeah funny but 3 European Cups (including 2 back to back) and 6 league titles in 9 years will kind of give you that kind of opinion. In a recent poll (THAT HAD FUCK ALL TO DO WITH SKY) Paisley was voted the greatest British Manager ever followed by Brain Clough.
1. Paisley: 28%
2. Clough: 27%
3. Stein: 18%
4. Fergie: 15%
5. Shankly: 6%

When did any of us say he was? I think it's remarkable to stay at the same club for as long as he has. Gives Liverpool a chance to win the "place your team name here" cup, which I'm sure you'll celebrate, being your only silverwear and all
That poll wasn't done over at www.liverpoofc.co.uk was it?

Have you been in a cave for the last 2 weeks? No one said you yourself said it but all you had to do was turn on a TV (boxy thing with pics that move incase any Bolton Gypos have made their way into this thread), Radio or pick up a paper (thing you wipe your ass with that you find on the ground gypos) and you would see the hype. The poll was on Football Focus and shows people early enough to remember not to believe the hype.
I couldn't give a flying fuck in a high wind about the *United didn't care that is why Rooney and Ronaldo played* cup, with Everton and you leaving early there is only Chelski that are left that I wouldn't want to win it. I will of course support Liverpool in all their pursuits but come on the league cup is an absolute joke, it's no more than a poor mans FA Cup, the only time it means anything is when you play a rival because there are no friendlies when Liverpool meet Everton, United or Chelski.

We do that with teams who don't really stand a chance in the competition, gives them that little bit of hope (Arsenal, Copenhagen, Southend and now Celtic).
Still, we'll come up against much much better teams than Celtic, and if we can't put away a goal or two when we're on top, we're screwed.

torres will be coming. thats the only real potential man utd have the slightest possibilty because i don't believe adu is all that great.

And I know Torres isn't that great. Remind me again, how many league goals has he bagged this season ? Bring on Huntelaar, he'd be half the price and probably twice the player.
Why would Ajax sell Huntelaar for only 12m? I'm pretty sure if he was for sale there'd be quite a bidding war.

Nice to see United putting a man on the line for the free kick. The most predictable thing I've seen in my life.
And don't even get me started on Saha, I could write a 10 page essay on it.
To be fair, Ajax sell all their top stars for peanuts.

Don't Ajax have a history for being a selling club ?
The fact United have been hot on the trail for The Hunter for ages now will play some part too I imagine.

Because they have sufficient points to qualify as there is only 1 match left. Thought it was simple ? ;)

Well it isn't to do with the points, more the fact they did better than you over the two games.

Fair really.
Why isit that Celtic go through but we don't?
Celtic - 9 points
United - 9 points
Benfica - 7 points
Copenhagen - 4 points
If United beat Benfica then Celtic still go through, but if Benfica beat us, then they still go through as they're already above us on goal difference.

This is down to the fact that Celtic got a draw and a win out of the two games against you.

They lost away, but it was 3-2.
Just think of it as aggregate games, so given the two scores, they've done better.
Quite simple.
Oh well, thanks for clearing that up guys. Although I thought it only happened when teams were drawn on points 'and' goal difference, clearly not it seems.

Only heard a couple of anti-Liverpool chants to be honest, hardly over the top.
50/50 with the penalty though as despite turning around he did still raise his arms a bit. Hard to call but Saha was always going to miss anyway, possibly the most predictable thing this season.

Pretty much the response I would expect. You sang less about United than you did about us as per usual to deny it is laughable. What really takes the cake is that you actually feel a penalty given for turning backwards and then in a natural motion putting your arm to your face is a "50/50" pen decision.
You are that sad you are now copying the tunes we come up with and changing the words. Team of Carraghers and We Won it 5 times are perfect examples. You just will never get over that inferiority complex that drives your club. As I say, very sad.

thank god! i wasn't the only person that could see saha missin the penalty! i can never understand why united make things so hard for themselves! they had 9 points out of 9 for the first 3 games now lost twice in a row. saha let united down today and through all that dominance in the first half the keep was barely tested! torres needs to come in the summer because saha is not consistent enough! now i can see united playing in the uefa cup the way thier results are going!
that was a nice free kick i must admit no matter how angry i am i must admit that.
let celtic finish top and get barca or lyon!

Now you're just being silly man, yes there were clearly anti-Liverpool chants but they certainly didn't outweigh the pro-United chants.
His arms were closer to his abdomen than his face plus just because he turned around shouldn't give him an excuse. What's really laughable is you saying I actually felt it was a penalty decision despite me saying I was 50/50 about it. (EDIT: Mis-read, my apolpgies)
However it's still handball, no matter how many times he spins or looks away from the ball as he put his arms out rather than kept them by his side. Whether it's ball-to-hand or not is another matter, if it exists as there has been arguments about it in the past.

Ah, I see you have fallen victim to what is called, inTIMidation.
Don't worry, its very common. Just a fortnight ago, Celtic scored in the 6th minute of injury time when 4 were put on the board.
Although you brought it on yourselves, you looked like you couldn't give a shite about the result.

By the way, lads, its shite to get a wrong decision against your team isnt it? Big time. Cost you the game aswell, tonight and no way was that a penalty, but Boruc done the business.
On a serious note, United showed why they are so good and currently sit atop of the Premiership. I loved the football they played and they'll go very far in the CL, in my opinion. Scholes and co knocked the ball about and had shown sometimes the difference in class, for a fair bit of the game, Celtic werent a step below United, they were a full flight of stairs behind United. Tonights result seen us have possibly our best home win in the CL, better than Benfica, Juventus and so on.
Goodluck against the Chelsea on Sunday, I think itll be a United win.
PS - Ive Ive gloated somewhere in there, ignore it, I still cant believe we won.

congratz to the hoops eh?????
and im no a celtic fan
it waz quite a crap game tho
The Celtic result was disappointing. But it's by no means as bigger shock as I'm sure some journos would have you believe yesterday morning.
We bossed the game, and outplayed them for the entire match, but lost the game. That happens in football. The way we played indicates to me that we are a side still playing (almost) to the best of our abilities. And that's why we're top of the championship. Not because we have the strongest side, but because every player thus far has played at, or close to, their best form .
As for Saha, he gets a lot of undue criticism. He's absoloutley vital to this United side. His running has been one of the main reasons why we've torn teams to pieces in the league this season. He's not as clinical as Ruud, and his first touch is often frustrating, but you can attribute a lot of the free-flowing attractive football to Saha being in the starting lineup instead of van Nistelrooy.
I just hope that he can keep the confidence he needs coming into Sunday's game. He looked absoloutley distraught at the final whistle on Tuesday, but to put it in perspective, we didn't play badly, we were unlucky not to win and in the end, just like the Southend game, it shouldn't really make that much difference.
I'm sure that all week we'll have to listen to the Celtic fans and everybody on Sky Sports News going on about how passionate the Celtic fans were, but fuck it. We're watching the best football played by a United side since 2001, so enjoy it while it lasts. If it hasn't gone tits-up by Chewsee on Sunday, it will in december. It'll be long overdue.

1 -1 is a fair result, but Chelsea are scummy fuckers. Drogba should have been off, Ballack elbowed Ronaldo and clotheslined Vidic as well as being an utter twat, Carvalho is just a dickhead who is always looking to cheat someone out of it, and Cole was snapping at Ronaldo's heels for the last 10 minutes of the game until he finally injured him.

Scholes is in his top form and performed well too. Despite retreating to their own territory in the second half, all ManUtd players heve been good in the match (excluding Van Der Sar and Heinze). What is more, I think that Scholes-Carrick compination works and it may be better, but only after paying more attention to their defensive roles.
Happy with the result as in the second half Chelsea dominated, negative substitutions from Fergie summed it up.

Well the fact that he couldn't do any positive substitutions annoyed me, no strikers on the bench.
Karaoke29
26-11-2006, 18:27
I don't look at the situation from the side that you look at. Ferguson's been satisfied with the draw, thus he decided to protect his own half and to give Chelsea no room especilly in the midfield. In fact, Chelsea tried their best in the second half to score, that's why ferguson has no choice to do other than depending on counter attacks and securing his box.
Anyway, I think that the draw is more useful to ManUtd. They are still the Premiership leader.
I'll settle for the draw, and in the end I think it was the fair result.
The same opinion as mine.

I didn't say that but from the replay, it looked like VDS was going to save it. As for Ronaldo I still feel he was out best player, he was the only player who took on the Chelsea players and for once he actually gave Ashley Cole a hard time on the left

Cole kept Ronaldo at bay more times than he skipped past him. Even when he did there was no-one in there or he couldn't deliver. Getting past players and doing nothing is useless. van Der Sar would have had it, but if Saha had left it and it'd gone in SAF would have roasted him.
What Saha did wasn't wrong, he had every right to stop the header, but I simply said that if he didn't get a touch then VDS would have saved it.

"Occasions" is simply not good enough. It barely merits a good performance, nevermind our best player performance.
As Ruud said, Carrick done well for us today and stuck the foot in like we all want, I was elated with some of tackles. In all honesty, I'm glad he got a booking, he needs to throw himself about even if it means he'll pick up a card here and there.

ecureuil
27-11-2006, 01:35
Yeah, Cole dealt with Ronaldo really well today.
It's not always like that, though. If you remember the FA Cup final vs. Arsenal, which we somehow lost - Ronaldo completely owned Cole all over the park in that game. Although I seem to remember Ronaldo switching over both wings during the game, so he wasn't always on the right. Cole is an utter loathsome twat, but he's a decent player.
We need a couple more players, that's for sure. I hope we can hold on until the transfer period, then bring someone decent in. We typically have our best spell of the season towards the end, and if that happens again, we're in with a great chance. I just hope we don't have a collapse in the next month. :/
We play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on April 14th, and I'm getting way ahead of myself hear, but if we're still neck and neck at that point, that will probably decide who wins the league. If we can, again, go in to it with a three point cushion, we could either kill off the league, or make it very hard for ourselves. But there's a long way to go, and anything could happen..
Thought Vidic was your best player today, kept Drogba quiet all day long.
Cristiano Ronaldo n Ryan Giggs were the best 4 United fullstop
Saha's doing like @#$*@@#**^%%!#(won/t swear gonna get sent off i think never read the rules lol)[If there r any rules] missing lots of chances Cristiano struggled to give him a ball he just ran past it n a scummy blue just kikced it forward.
Even though, Saha has made a DOUBLE scoring a goal against Chelsea and one FOR Chelsea. Carvalho headed the ball then it touched Saha n went in. If he hadn't been there VDS could have easily saved it!!!! Saha's been bad these days missing a penalty against Celtic.I didn't watch the game wasnt shown on TV n i don't have Satelite TV.So i get only maximum of two Man Utd premiership games per month. There is only 1 premiership match per week

Giggs was good, Ronaldo was not. Just because he had the ball a lot of the time doesn't particularly mean he did anything with it.

You can swear motherfucker! It's not PESFan.
I definetely think you're being harsh on Saha here, I mean he had to go for the header. He probably didn't even know VDS lept across the goal to save it, and if he didn't attempt he'd have his bollocks ripped out in the dressing room.

Coolio.
Regardless of which pocket, Cole, had Ronaldo in, it took all of the sideback's skill to keep Ronaldo quiet. People can say whatever they want about Ronaldo, but they guy is an excellent winger.
I enjoyed seeing Rooney and Ronaldo celebrate. I thought it was a beautiful moment. :)

Another idiot blaming Saha for their goal. Saha gives us a whole other dimension, one Ruud didn't. He may not be as prolific infront of goal but his pace in behind defenders is why we've done so well in the league up to now.

you make it sound that they hold hands or something
I think Chelsea's greatest positive from that match must be injuring Ronaldo and Saha. United have a clear starting 11 and behind them, only Evra for Heinze is a close replacement. Solskjaer for Saha and Fletcher for Ronaldo as replacements just aren't good enough for a champion team. Chelsea were able to bring on subtitutes like Robben, Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira but United could only call on Fletcher and O'Shea.

I don't understand Mourinho's comments to be honest, we absolutely outplayed you lot and won, yet Chelsea get a draw and suddenly everything is coming up blue?
Was a boring game I thought, but I felt you shaded it overall.

Our crappy bench is the only reason Chelsea drew with us. There was just no one to come on who could make a difference. All Fergie could do is shore up the midfield which he did too late.
If we get some quality in in the transfer window we have a chance at winning the league. If we don't, I don't think we will.

yeah we need another striker and good midfield back-up

When i saw the two benches yesterday i couldnt stop laughing, where they had J Cole, Robben and Ferreira we had O' Shea, Fletcher and Silvetsre, our first choice team is unbelievably good but the back up players just arent good enough, we need more back up especially up front

"Unbelievably good"? As if. ;)
Chelsea have a tough game away to Bolton this week, were they to lose that it would make the fact you didn't beat them even more significant.
Yeah hunter i agree am bein a bit 2 harsh on Saha i just said it out of anger, was a bit annoyed by the home draw!!!
And yeah wat bout any players tipped 2 United apart from Torres n Adu n Higuain n HARGREAVES!!! Yeah again bout Saha i said this cuz i get to watch only one premiership game per week and its not always United.
Satelite TV is damn expensive here in Mauritius. There r only 3 free channels n the TNT has only 6 channels where there is no soccer channels.hopefully cable TV will b arriving soon n am gonna see more United games. Its mainly cuz i don't get the chance to see Saha play too often.but in the few matches i saw him play he did play well. And why isn't Park J S playin anymore this season he hasn't even been on the bench once.
Park is the best utility player of the Premiership which is very good.He plays RMF,LMF,AMF,CMF,DMF,Support Striker and Winger!!!!! Why isn't he even on the bench???? Is he suspended or injured???

PLEASE put them together and Delete your posts, and your right stella (not that your ever wrong of course ) Chelsea's trip to Bolton will not be an easy game and we have Everton at home which we will no doubt win so we could open the gap a bit more
[QUOTE=mufcsean;869460]PLEASE put them together and Delete your posts,

Sheva to United anyone? Obv I'm only going on rumours that Chelski are looking to offload him. But the way that the joke club they are run things I wouldn't be surprised! We were linked with him 2 or 3 times in the past. SAF surely would get him back to his old self? Then again Chelski wouldn't let him go cheap OR to us would they?
deftones5
28-11-2006, 12:31
never gonna happen, wouldn't want him anyway judging by the way he's started for chelski. he can't stick the pace of the premiership. would love Huntelaar or even D.Bent, but we def need some midfield cover
Hey i think this Micah Richards will be a good defender or Dawson and there is also A.Ferdinand who is very good too.I'd like Torres to come he'd pair up well with Rooney I think Tevez also would be good but then the aerial play upfront wouldnt b too good cuz both Rooney and Tevez r short(especially Tevez) and i think the two of them would clash cuz Tevez plays a bit like Rooney.D.Bent would be good with Rooney too cuz he plays 4 the national team so its kinda they gonna always play together.

DOUBLE BOOST FOR UNITED
Park Ji-sung and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are set to resume full training for Manchester United.
Park has been sidelined since damaging ankle ligaments in United's 1-0 victory over Tottenham in September.
Solskjaer, meanwhile, has not played since pulling a hamstring in the final seconds of the shock UEFA Champions League defeat to Copenhagen at the start of the month.
However, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has now confirmed that both players are ready to return and will be fit to feature in the gruelling schedule of fixtures running up to Christmas.
"Ji-sung and Ole will begin training this week which is great news for us," Ferguson told Manchester United Radio.
"With the hectic December period coming up it's great we'll have those players available."
Ferguson also revealed that Alan Smith is being put through a special training programme in a bid to boost his fitness.
He explained: "Alan is coming along fine. We've changed his fitness programme with the first team - he's now doing special training to aid his speed.
"He's responding well and is enjoying it. He realises that there is a lot of hard work involved but he's putting everything into it."

Haha no worries mate, i dont want Sheva, not that they would ever let him come here, but i agree about the defenders, we cant spend the money on those overrated players, i saw a video on Nani today at college he looks very good, bet he would cost a bomb though, and the news on Ole and Park is good
Richards, Dawson, Ferdinand? I agree we should sign atleast one of these overrated ENGLISH defenders. Maybe we could sell one of our quadrants to afford to buy them?
I agree, but I think Dawson does have talent, he has been good for Tottenham since he has joined and is always improving, the other 2 are both hype players.
Yeah Dawson would b good pairing with Ferdinand they can also score headers too cuz they are damn tall.I'd say send O'shea or Silvestre to Tottenham for Dawson. Btw do any of u guys know wen players like Neville
,Giggs and Scholes are gonna retire?
Hey check this link out its a goal of Nani from youtube

Yeah Dawson would b good pairing with Ferdinand they can also score headers too cuz they are damn tall.I'd say send O'shea or Silvestre to Tottenham for Dawson.Genius mate. Send them one of your shit players in return for a promising young English talent worth about five times as much. Tottenham will bite your arms off. Ever thought of going into management?

Don't be a cretin! Why would you want to sell one of those talents to another team in your league? Dammit people, think before you post!
Full Time: 3-0, bit of a routine win, goals from Ronaldo, Evra and O'Shea. I was a bit worried about this game but it has turned out fine.

If we buy someone like Torres/Huntelaar in the January window I could definitely see us take Chelsea right to the end, but as things stand Chelsea just have too much strength in depth.

I had a tenner on United to win and 3 or more goals scored. John O'Fucking Shea out of all people. Love it!
Apparently his goal was an outside of the boot flick over the keeper, I can't wait too see it on Match Of The Day.

I had the game on stream but it was so stop/go I couldn't watch it. That and I had money so had to listen the Gordon McQueen on SS1.
What does everyone think of Evra? Last season I thought he was pretty poor but this season he has come on leaps and bounds, he is playing so well I think Fergie will have problems dropping to fit Heinze in.
Yes I agree, he has been playing well and I am not suprised at all despite his start with us last season. Fergie is going to have problems deciding weather to pick Evra or Heinze
vanNistelrooy
29-11-2006, 23:03
I thought both Evra and Vidic were far off Premiership quality. But now...
Vidic - It wasn't long ago I said I still didn't rate him. He's not throwing himself into every challenge and giving away needless free kicks anymore, which is good. He's starting to play like Rio does so that can only be good (other than when Rio goes walkies like he does every now and then).
Evra - I always rated him going forward, but not as a defender. He seems to stand his players up alot more now. Teams still take advantage of his height, or lack there of, but SAF must realise this is going to happen when he plays him.
I don't think there's much harm in playing him over Heinze, as Gabby hasn't looked any good as he was before his injuries.

Just seen it on Football First. Nothing special. Ball played in by Evra, he does a kind of outside of the foot poke towards top near corner, keeper pushes in off the post.
